Tonya Brooks is a teller of tales, a dreamer of dreams, and a weaver of words. Her steamy romances contain action, suspense, and humor with unexpected plot twists and turns. You never know what's going to happen next, hence her catchphrase, It's all smoke and mirrors till… The End.
This is the second book in the Bad Baker Boys series, a book about Mark Baker the second oldest son in the family of males. Mark created enough troubles for his older brother in the previews book that you can say karma is "unpleasant" indeed. Mark lacks of nothing, he was handsome, charming, ex professional football player, and a brain for business. He was going to be the eternal bachelor until a young girl decided that he would be a great husband for her mom. Desiree Anderson was the hottest woman in and out of the kitchen in which she was a wonderful chef. Desi has been a mother before anything else and it was time that she trusted her eleven year old daughter's attempts at matchmaking, or maybe not. The Baker family is back as wholehearted and hilarious as ever. PS: I am Matthew's fan so I enjoyed this book very much
Those Baker boys are one crazy bunch. I think I'm in love with Mark after reading this book. Poor Desi has no choice to but walk away from the happiness she has when Kyle finds out he has a daughter. Mark refuses to admit to anyone that he's in love. He takes care of the "Kyle Issue" and plans to move on. None of the Baker's will allow that to happen.great book! Can't wait to read the next one
I believe that the reason I enjoyed this book even more than the first book is that the characters are older. There is maturity in all the characters and the development of those characters that were started in book one just grow in book two. I can see that it is necessary to read this series in order but there are not any cliffhangers. Just continuing of the characters from one book into the other.
Matthew Baker is the town bad boy with a heart of gold. He is his father's child. He's the fighter no one wants to fight and the guy every woman wants. Once he realizes Harley is the one he knows there will never be another woman for him.
Harley is tough as nails and sweeter than honey, but she's been the brunt of town gossip for as long as she can remember. She's also been in love with Matt for as long as she can remember. Being young and naive caused so many problems between them and made it so hard to trust. Real life comes with many ups and downs that we all receive bruises along that Journey. The question is will they be able to move forward?
I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed this story. The stort flowed and was very creative and realistic. Getting to know the characters makes you feel like you're part of the family. They deal with real life issues, and handle it like real families do. Things happen and it is not always pretty, but it's always good to know you have family standing with you.
You are going to laugh, cry and probably want to yell at somebody. It's ok you'll be in good company. I can't wait to read the next book. Happy Reading!
This review is from: My Name Is Desire: The Bad Baker Boys: Mark's Story (Book 3) Second Edition (Kindle Edition)
Wow first off let me start off saying I loved this book. It pulled me in from the first, held me hostage ( willingly), then let me go all to soon. This was Mark and Desi s story. But just from ALL the little bits and pieces, I know I am in for a treat with the rest of the series. (Gasp) !! I know right what was I thinking! Reading it out of sequence. I can only plead the fifth. I would definitely do it again! Totally a winner in my humble opinion!! Yes you ...you need to read this!
Although I wasn't overly impressed with the previous book in this series, I liked the characters enough to want to read more of their stories. What I liked about this book is that it didn't just jump to the next couple, it continued to include the whole cast of characters, including the previous hero and heroine. What I didn't like was that, once again, I didn't buy into the drama caused by the heroine's dead beat baby-daddy, nor the resolution of the issue. Still an ok read, though.
Second brother Mark is just as captivating as bigger brother Matt, but a player, and just as clueless. He sleeps with everything that moves, but doesn't give of himself. Just like the others, he's protective as hell when it comes to someone hurting a friend of his.
I loved this story! The whole single mom afraid of love and the player that doesn't want to be tamed made for a more true to life story. How people can change when love finds them (romantic sigh here) start to finish yet another good one Tonya
I really liked this book. It was a little cheesy at times...especially towards the end...but it's a romance novel so it's supposed to make you feel the warm & fuzzies!
Not bad, quick and easy to read. Interesting enough, using the usual bad-boy, good-girl cliches with a twist or two. The women are up to keeping these guys in check, though.
Clueless is a phenomenal contemporary romance by Tonya Brooks. I discovered Ms. Brooks' books at a book signing where I bought her book, I Boinked The Boss. I laughed till I cried reading that book and since then whenever I get a break from ARCs and have room on my kindle for one more book, I grab one of her books. I've never been disappointed. In Clueless you'll meet Desi, a chef and single mom. When Desi returns from her friend's wedding the father of her daughter finds her at work. Mark is the brother of Desi's best friend's husband and tries to lure Desi into opening a restaurant with his nightclub. When Desi calls about her ex wanting her daughter, Mark comes to attempt a rescue. There's plenty of drama, action, sizzle and suspense in their story, but best of all, Ms. Brooks's humor makes an appearance. Clueless is book 3 of the Bad Baker Boys Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete story, not a cliffhanger.
The Bad Baker Boys are back and this time love is going to find Mark, the second oldest, former football profi, and owner of a popular bar in town. He planned on never getting married and just wanted to enjoy the ladies that were up for nothing more than a little fun. This all changes when two wonderful redheads come to the family estate - Breezeway - for his brother's wedding. Great read! I fall for everyone of these Baker Boys and devour their stories!
Mark is the second oldest of the Bad Baker Boys.......Known around Lakeside as the Bad Boys of town. Mark is a former Pro Football player, who got hurt in an accident, that ended his playing career. He came home to Lakeside with a degree in business and Finance, and has made a home for himself. He owns a bar and real estate holdings. He has done well for himself, and has a healthy love life. He never intends to settle down, and enjoys his bachelor life
Desiree (Desi) Anderson is a single mother, with a twelve year old daughter, Kylie. Desi is a professional chef, trying to make a name for herself in Miami. She works hard, but still has to jump to her boss's whims, and the whims of the folks who own the restaurant. Her dream is to own her own restaurant, and be her own boss
Desi came to Lakeside for the wedding of her best friend Harley, who is marrying Mark's older brother Matt. Of course, she meets all the Baker brothers, and the sparks and fun starts. But all is not happy in Lakeside. Desi and Mark have to deal with the reappearance of Kylie's father, and trying to figure out if they have a relationship, and just what kind of relationship they have.
The book did a great job of continuing on with the story that started in Book 1, "Desire had a Name". The beginning of the book is really cute, especially where Kylie meets the three unmarried brothers, and checks them out as potential marriage candidates for her Mom. The interactions between the brothers, and the family scenes are great. Jed, the father of the Baker boys, has some great cameos and his own little story line going on. These books could be stand alone books, but I think that there would be more enjoyment by reading book 1 first. The author does a great job of making sure that there is just enough back story in this book so that you don't "need" to read book 1, but it will entice you into wanting to see what started this saga.
The second book in the bad baker boys series doesn't disappoint. Tonya brooks writing makes you feel like you are a part of the story. Mark has all of the qualities that makes a bad boy so good.
