Fantastic devotional. Took me much longer than 30 days as I sat with the daily questions and pondered the life rhythm of “Release, Rest, Remain” for a while. Ms. Henry gently paves a path to walk through the truths of John 15 in an un-rushed, curious, and thoughtful way. Highly recommend!

LOVED every page of this book! At the start, I was anxiously praying to reach another level of rest in Jesus and by the end, I completely forgot on what “I” wanted to accomplish and am walking away with a sweet peace of understanding of how to truly just be still and remain in the One Who has been with us since the beginning. So good!

As a mother of five daughters who has navigated the chaos of busy seasons - from raising children to homeschooling to now being Grammy to six - I understand the relentless pull of the endless to-do list and the weight of trying to hold everything together. "Release, Rest, Remain" by Yvette Henry is the reminder I needed that God never asked me to carry it all.

Drawing from Jesus's profound words in John 15 - spoken just hours before His arrest - Henry invites us into a 30-day journey of slowing down and dwelling with God. This isn't about doing more; it's about being with Him, especially during life's most challenging moments.

What makes this devotional exceptional is how real and relatable it feels. Henry writes like a trusted friend sitting across from you, understanding the juggling act of family, responsibilities, and the constant pull in a thousand directions. Each day offers compelling stories, thoughtful Scripture study, and honest questions that guide you to release the need to control everything, rest in God's truth when life feels uncertain, and remain connected to His presence.

The daily structure is perfect for busy women - meaningful enough to nourish your soul, brief enough to fit into packed schedules. This is a devotional you'll want to write in, underline, and return to again and again.

If you're tired of striving and ready to embrace abiding, this book is your invitation to lasting peace and joy.

An excellent book for women new to daily devotionals! Henry provides a simple and easy to understand study of John 15 paired with examples from her life for each verse to drive home the point. The examples taken from Henry’s life juxtaposed to her explanations of scripture create a relatable daily lesson. I would recommend this book to Christian women of all ages, but especially those who are wives and mothers will find Henry’s commentary relatable. The three reflection questions at the end of each chapter are thought-provoking and provide an opportunity to slow down and digest the scripture. I am rating this 4/5 stars because while the majority is very easy to understand, some parts and reflection questions were a bit confusing as a new reader.

What does it mean to embrace abiding instead of striving and to find stillness amid a busy life? Yvette explores this topic in her 30-day devotional that will leave you encouraged to dwell more deeply in Jesus–our true source of peace.

Through a study of scripture, reflection questions, and journaling spaces, this devotional guides readers through releasing burdens to the One who alone can carry them, resting in God's word and peace despite circumstances, and remaining in Jesus to find true peace and satisfaction our hearts long for in his presence.

This devotional is a journey and Yvette serves readers as a wise and honest guide with a truly engaging writing style! I loved how Yvette reminds us that this path is about presence, not perfection.

Release, Rest, and Remain is such a breath of fresh air!

A few of my favorite quotes

“When we release our grip on the things that we were never meant to hold us, we finally make room for the One who can.”

“Joy is an internal stability in spite of external circumstances.”

“Glorifying God isn’t about striving—it’s about surrender.”

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. My review reflects my honest opinion.

Excellent topic and one that is near and dear to my heart. People, and especially women, must learn to abide. Henry conveys the crisis and the cure very well. I loved that the devotional is framed around one central passage of scripture and her theological exposition was sound. She writes as though talking with a friend which makes the work easy to settle into IF you’re the target reader (more on this later). I also appreciated that it was a light read and easy to follow—something the target reader would enjoy returning to (and have time to return) to for 30 days.

Why isn’t this a 5? Henry is a wife and mother to a young family and this experience is present in the anecdotes beginning every devotional day. If you are a woman coming to this book without that perspective, it can feel as though the content doesn’t apply to you (though it absolutely does) or that the author isn’t speaking to you (she absolutely is). Even still, most of the stories were perfectly fit for the devotional day though toward the end of the book, they felt rushed.
