Well, that’s over. Okay, it’s not that bad, but it didn’t bowl me over much. All told this was an enjoyable ride that did a couple things right and had some decent moments in this final volume. And I’ll probably never read it again.

This stuffed final volume uses its extra space to give plenty of closure (sort of), although I was shocked they never went back to that weird naked superhero omake, except I don’t know that it needed these extra pages.

I would be lying if I said nothing here was worthwhile, that’s not the case at all. It just happens to be a little too mired in cruft that pads things out rather than makes it better. If you think this never put a foot wrong, you will be fine, but I am picky by nature.

The first big action is the resolution of the near-kiss from last time. It was fun to see Nagatoro get all fired up and take charge again, even if it amounted to very little. I’m not saying her being a bully was good, per se, but they did defang her (personality-wise, anyhow) a bit more than was maybe necessary.

Her trying to arrange a little privacy for the kiss was a decent gag that actually would have benefited from going longer. It was a great idea to mine for a chapter and they barely broke the surface on it. It could have been a series highlight had they run with it.

When the kiss does happen, spoilers, it is actually well done. There are a couple of places this volume with some nice artistic flourishes and this is one of them. The whole aftermath is all expressed silently and it has room to breathe as they both unpack it. Good job.

The other nice touch appears at the end when the mangaka uses a set of very similar scenes to show the passage of time, which I really enjoyed. Little touches like this make the volume better than it might be otherwise. I also thought the two fish were a great touch.

The big drama this volume crops up when Senpai decides to not be up front about nude model sketching of a girl in his class. This leads to him being super nervous and cagey instead of honest and causes problems.

This feels utterly rushed and out of place to me, there for the sake of one last big thing. These two have gone through so much that it feels weird for Senpai to bottle this now that they’re dating and even moreso that Nagatoro seems shocked by it (this series has had flagrant nudity all over it). The fanservice this volume alone is real weird in general.

Again, parts are okay - Nagatoro’s reaction where she acts like everything is great and then flat-out breaks down is a wild moment of vulnerability from her and well done. But the resolution is… less so… involving a judo match and Senpai saying he’ll never lie to Nagatoro, right after he’s literally just done that. Little messy.

I get what the intent was with the graduation speeches, but it could have been done better. This winds up being about our leads trading messages in said speeches, but it’s not amazing. They come close to Nagatoro bullying the entire student body, which would have been way more fun.

At 291 pages, it’s more crazy for what it doesn’t do. The friends are hanging around but don’t really get any closure of their own. The art club president barely shows up. Senpai gets into his chosen university with such apparent ease that you wonder what all the fuss in Blue Period was even about.

Overall, I had fun with the series. It took several things too far than my own tastes would like and definitely went on several volumes more than necessary. It could have been a leaner production and done just as well, but that’s just my take.

3.5 stars - not rounding up, but I do think there are some good moments here that make it a decent farewell. It’s not a ride I regret taking, but not one I’m compelled to take again either.

A sweet ending to a manga that had become my guilty pleasure, as I'm over double the age of the kids in this story. I enjoyed over the course of 20 volumes seeing the antics of everyone, and watching the characters grow.

Special shout out to the utter lunacy and hilarity of every President appearance.

「○○同學」類型的日式校園愛情喜劇。本系列作品的後半逐漸脫離男女互相捉弄的套路,轉而成為正能量的勵志劇情。

Very emotionally satisfying conclusion of this very entertaining Rom-Com that truly transformed me into a manga reader who has been on board since Volume 1, before the anime adaptation existed. It's the only manga series I've ever consistently had on pre-order through most of its print run except for this final volume, though at least I purchased it within a month after its release. This volume is a little thicker than the usual volume for this series but it makes sense as the final chapter of this saga.

We get not one but TWO very satisfying kissing scenes. Their first kiss in the privacy of the Art Club Room where it all began, and the second kiss under the stars and glittering, popping fireworks overhead on a secluded hilltop overlooking their town. Some of the comedy in this volume stems from the fact that PDA is frowned on in Japan and something of a social taboo, so their attempts to find privacy to be able to kiss is thrown for a comedic loop, to their consternation.

There's also some conflict over Naota being made to sketch a nude of the blonde artist rival in his cohort and he's embarrassed and lies to Nagatoro about the project but she discovers it anyway. She feels an initial flash of jealousy but pushes that aside because he's an artist and that's what they're expected to do. No what really hurts is that he felt the need to lie to her. She cries genuine tears and is overwhelmed by her emotions. He apologizes and they reconcile but it is a sign to readers that Hayase really does love her boyfriend. She's loved him since Volume 1, arguably, but a good romance story is EARNED and this one definitely is. I love the anime adaptation and have seen both seasons, subbed and dubbed. I do sincerely hope there is a Season 3 that incorporates this ending chapter. I've enjoyed the journey with these two characters from beginning to end. I'm glad the mangaka did not decide to keep extending the story indefinitely but instead chose to bring this narrative to a close with a much deserved happy ending. These two are destined to be married and they plan to live together when they have both graduated High School begins attending university also. Hayase Nagatoro has grown emotionally and become more mature over these 20 volumes and able to accept and express her feelings for the Senpai she fell in love with. They've inspired in each other the desire to better themselves and will keep supporting each other. As with all Nagatoro volumes, I finished this one in one sitting.

Thank you, Nanashi, for turning me into a true manga reader and not just an anime-only "casual" fan.

“Nagatoro”’s final volume finally sees the her and Senpai now a couple but still facing some funny and mildly awkward moments while both plan to make a speech for the end of the semester and what it brought for the two of them.

nanashi’s manga was definitely a very unique, funny and frisky rom-com with a outrageous love interest and timid quiet protagonist. Nagatoro is pretty much the shining lightning bolt ⚡️ of the story as she’s not just a pretty face but a fierce and forward character who’s full of energy while Senpai is more down-to earth and relatable with trying to be more social and aiming for his goals. It definitely started off as very worrisome but over time, the two become something and changed each other’s personalities so much. Many of the characters we’ve also met too brought their own funny moments, while we also a bit of fanservice too.

Spirited, hilarious and caring.

Glorious. Everything I wanted and more from this series can be found in this grand finale. From the long-awaited first kiss, to the first fight, to the graduation speeches and even saying Senpai pull off a judo move, then seeing a hopeful glimpse at a future to come. I originally became interested in this series purely because of all the memes I saw based on it, now as it comes to a close I dare to say that this is very easily my favorite series in this genre.
The mangaka has said he is currently working on a new project, I can only hope it is a sequel of some kind, some single volume spin-offs based off some of the other characters would also be quite entertaining.
As a massive fan of the series I am sad to see it go, but I'm also happy that it probably got as perfect and ending as possible.

I held off from reading this for so long simply because it was the end of a storyline that I just loved reading as it came out. These two had just one of those crazy cool relationships that you just had to love especially if you have lived a life like that in the past it is kind of like looking in a mirror and watching bits and pieces of memories float by. I am sure I will reread this series again someday especially now that I can binge it lol. Looking forward to seeing what Nanashi comes out with in the future!

I bought the first volume just off the cover art and I’m glad I stuck with it until this last volume. Our protagonists are two of the best I’ve read and I wasn’t thinking so after the first couple volumes, Nagatoro was such an obnoxious jerk and Hatchi was such a wet noodle. Fast track to this last volume and it’s very rewarding to see how they are with each other and the milestones they reach. That last page was so satisfying I was smiling wishing there was more. I’m going to miss them and the rest of the characters; such a fun manga that will be hard to replace.

The ending and epilogue are cute. On the whole, however, if this series wasn’t already sitting under my roof, it is unlikely I’d pick it up. This is one of the more tepid shōnen romances I’ve encountered despite the hint of a risqué start.

I’m sadder than I thought I’d be that this story has come to an end, but I’m so happy with how it did. These idiots and their will they won’t they meant a lot to me and I’m glad I could see their story through to the end.

All good things must come to an end. The wrap up to this series feels very satisfying. It shows growth for characters we have spent 20 volumes with and showcases how far they have come as individuals. While not a groundbreaking series it was still filled with heart and comedy.

This entire series as a whole hasnt been my favourite to read but somehow kept me interested enough to finish it. Would I read it again? Probably not. I’ve read better manga (more to my taste) and im sure i have or will read worse.

At last, it’s finally over. What began as a questionable topic story became a somewhat likeable pseudo romance at the end.

Really hope it stops here. Even when the end was quite boring.

A good conclusion to a long teenage romance manga series. The ecchi jokes got a little stale after a while, but the main romance was cute enough to keep reading.
