Eli’s offsides foul creates confusion for Dani
Offsides by Jerica MacMillan is a sweet and steamy friends to lovers college sport romance. Eli and Dani’s story takes place off season, so there’s not much football going on, but that’s ok. Dani and Eli have so much in common, I didn’t really miss the football sports aspect of this series.
Dani is fit and enjoys working out, lifting weights and the like. As Eli and Dani are best friends, they often work out together in addition to other friend-like activities. The real conundrum is that Eli is completely in love with Dani and she has been stuck in an on again off again relationship with her high school boyfriend.
This book is emotionally action-packed, along with tons of self talk. Eli moves too fast when Dani is finally free, just as she starts to spread her girly wings with the help of her roommates. Just as Dani is confused and worried about Eli’s sudden interest, Eli worries about his foul with the only girl he’s ever really wanted. The angst of anger is interspersed with sadness and Dani coming to terms with her unhealthy relationship with not only the ex-boyfriend, but her dad too. Eli is steady and understanding and eventually clearly communicating, allowing their deeply abiding friendship to blend into sweet and steamy love.
Overall, I really enjoyed this emotional exploration of Dani and Eli. And I especially adore Eli for not giving up or giving in, persevering in preserving their friendship and ultimately their forever love too.
I read an ARC of this book via Grey’s Promotions and voluntarily share my review.

I love the best friends dynamic of Dani and Eli. They have been friends since freshman year and Eli has had a crush on Dani for so long. Dani has finally let go of her on again off again boyfriend. They are finally single at the same time together and Eli can't stop from kissing Dani the night he found out she broke up with her ex. Dani was shocked and left him standing there. The angst of wondering if she felt the same way made him very nervous and had him telling her to forget the kiss ever happened.

Dani's eyes opened to see Eli for the first time in their friendship as more than just her best friend. After dodging his texts and calls she is ready to talk to him about that kiss and he wants to forget it ever happened. The chemistry between the two is off the charts but hiding that they have feelings for each other because they didn't want to ruin their friendship, not realizing that they couldn't even be in the same room together without their feelings making everything uncomfortable. Eli makes so many mistakes in the way he treats Dani as she is emerging into her own personality without her ex's and father's influence and he makes jealous comments that were taken the wrong way.

Needless to say they had a very bumpy road ahead of them deciding what their relationship should be, but the ride was so worth it. I loved their friendship to lovers romance!

I received an advance copy for my honest opinion.

I fell a little bit in love with Eli in Offsides, the newest novel from Jerica MacMillan. Eli, a giant of a man, has been in love with his best friend Dani since he met her. But Dani has been preoccupied by her long-time boyfriend Luke who has the bad habit of breaking up with her so he can have sex with other women, and after he gets those women out of his system, he either crawls back to Dani or beats her door down and convinces her to take him back only to have the pattern repeat itself again and again. And every time Dani hits ground zero when she is tossed aside for some other female distraction, and her heart is once again broken, she falls into Eli’s arms and wonders why she never fell in love with him instead of Luke. This time when Luke breaks it off with Dani, it is for good, so Dani knows she cannot take him back again. Eli believes that for the first time in their long friendship he may have a real chance at winning Dani’s heart. The story is well written, rich in characters you would love to know, and so incredibly tender and heartfelt during several of Eli’s narratives, that he will capture some small part of the reader’s heart. Ms. MacMillan is a gifted writer, able to send my emotions into the stratosphere from the beautiful sentiments that Eli confesses to Dani about his feelings for her to the devastating emotional cost Dani paid at Luke’s hands when she no longer believed in herself. This novel will make an impression on you!

From their first meeting Eli was drawn to Dani however he respected the fact that she was in a relationship and accepted they could only be friends. After numerous breakups and reconciliations Dani is finally single but is she ready to consider a relationship with him?

Dani has been focused on trying to make her relationship with her ex work that she never considered anything beyond friendship with Eli. With Eli’s help she learns a lot about herself and what she deserves in a relationship even if they had some missteps and misunderstandings along the way.

Eli was all in for the beginning when it came to Dani and I enjoyed how he supported her both as an athlete and a woman as she became the person she was always meant to be.

I always enjoy friends to lover stories. Eli and Dani have been friends for a while and since they met Eli has been in love with Dani.

Dani is finding herself - she is finally out of a toxic relationship where she can now find and see herself.

I thought the story was cute and uncomplicated. The drama wasn't too crazy and it didn't take too long for Eli and Dani to get together

A good cute read

Eli and Dani are FINALLY moving from being just best friends to something more!

Offsides is the 5th book in again what I refer to as the Marycliff U 2.0 series- not sure if it has an actual name or not. This book could be enjoyed as a stand alone but to really get the feel of Eli and Dani's long standing best friend-dom and some of the relationships between the secondary characters it's better if you have read the books leading up to this one.

Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes so I was really excited when I saw that these two were finally getting their act together and got a story. Unfortunately I didn't love it as much as I had thought I would.

These two were years in the making- but the looming presence of Dani's on again off again boyfriend kept Eli from ever trying to become more. So when things finally look to be completely over and done between Dani and Luke- Eli takes his shot much to Dani's dismay. I liked the way that Jerica presented Dani's resistance to Eli's initial advance- her insecurities and lifelong grooming to hide all of her feminine qualities to appease her father made her wary of Eli's reaction to her dressing more "girly". Eli's attitude and jealousy did not help matters between them, but I just felt like I was stuck in the same cycle over and over with Dani's obliviousness and denial of Eli's attraction towards her for over half the book.

I enjoyed Dani's journey of self discovery and realizing that there was no shame in in fact being a girl or enjoying girly things. I liked seeing the more romantic side of Eli and how well he knew Dani in his date planning. I love that it was Autumn who helped Eli get through the rough patches in his and Dani's relationship- mending that fracture in his relationship with Jackson as well.

I wish there were a few more chapters to this story- I feel like there were some loose ends that needed to be tidied up and I would have loved some more time to enjoy Dani and Eli as a couple but overall while it this may not be my favorite Jerica book I still love coming back to Marycliff University.

#offsides is the next book coming out by #jericamacmillian

Eli is well known around his college. He’s a fantastic football player, smart and an overall good guy. He became friends with Dani Freshman yeah and have been inseparable since. They bonded over weight lifting and football. He’s always harbored a crush on her, but she’s never been available. Now that she’s finally single, he impulsively makes his move. With the poor timing, their relationship becomes strained. Can he fix their relationship to what it used to be or is there no going back from the line he crossed and wants to finally he be all in for a real relationship?

Dani has been in an on and off relationship with her high school boyfriend for the last three years. Now that things are over, she wants to find herself. Making changes to be more feminine makes her feel strong, but she’s noticing how different she’s being treated by the guys, especially her best friend. The shock of his kiss sent her into a whirlwind of emotions. Can she salvage the relationship with her best friend or is she finally seeing how a real relationship should feel?

I liked the book from midpoint on. The first half dragged for me. The infamous kiss happened really early on and there was a lot of back and forth. I felt like Dani was a little dramatic at times and I wanted to shake her. But she was also a strong and independent woman who was seeing her worth. Eli wore his emotions on his sleeve which was nice to see from a jock. Overall a decent read.

Offsides is a friends to lovers story by new-to-me author, Jerica MacMillan. It's set in an interconnected series around the university this friend group attends.

Dani is coming out of a toxic relationship. She's figuring out who she is and what's next for her. She's a powerlifter being crushed under the weight of expectations from her father and idiot ex-boyfriend. Powerlifting has been her identity for so long and she's always just been one of the guys but things are changing. She's entering a new phase of her life exploring her feminity. She's showing up in makeup and skirts and it's throwing Eli off his game. She's never really seen him as more than her BFF so when he kisses her, out of the blue, she's more confused than ever.

Eli has been Dani's best friend since freshman year when they bonded over sports (powerlifting for her, football for him) and science. Although he's harbored a crush from the beginning, he's been thoroughly friendzoned, helping her through break up after break up with her toxic high-school boyfriend. Now that she's finally single, is it time for Eli to make a move?

This felt like a young adult, coming of age story, which isn't entirely my cup of tea but will please fans of this series and genre. Both characters are figuring out who they are, what they want out of life and who they are to each other.

Although it often felt a bit more high-school than college to me, Offsides is a cute story with very little angst.

Offsides is a best friends to lovers, addictive romance that will grip you from the very first page and is Eli and Dani's incredible story.
Eli and Dani have been best friends since freshman year and as time has gone on Eli has started to feel more for his best friend, but he has never acted on it because she has always had a boyfriend for their entirety of their friendship but when Dani comes back after Christmas break single, will Eli finally get to take his shot? And will Dani be receptive to this change in their relationship?
"I just need to figure out how to take it from this-game nights and study sessions and shopping trips-to what I want-date nights and make out sessions"
Read Offsides now to find out if Eli is able to find a way to get the kind of relationship he has always dreamed of with Dani!
I LOVED Offsides so much, I couldn't put it down until I devoured it all...in one sitting! The thing I really love about Jerica's books is getting to revisit the characters from previous books, it just makes it so much better when you already know the surrounding characters on a deeper level. I cannot wait for the next book set in this world, I'll be counting down the days!

These are my honest thoughts for this book.

Eli was the saving grace of this story - he is the reason the story got 3 stars. He wasn’t perfect, but he owned his mistakes. He wore his heart on his sleeve. I didn’t like how the other characters treated him. They were all kind of quick to place all of the blame on him and insinuate he was a horrible person (Autumn and Jackson being the worst ones). Again, he wasn’t perfect, but these were supposed to be his “friends”.

I didn’t like Dani at all. Not one bit. I guess I’ll just start with my main issue which was being unable to connect with her. She didn’t come across as genuine or consistent with her feelings. It made it hard for me, personally, to connect or understand her and her thoughts/actions. I’ll leave it at that.

Their relationship felt incredibly one-sided to me (aka all on Eli’s side). But this may just be because of my disconnect with Dani. Because of that, I couldn’t connect with them as couple.

There was nothing not to love about this book. Right from the start I was right in the story, and I think that may have been due to Eli all himself. He was such a great character to read. For a jock he was quite open with his feelings & emotions, don't get me wrong I love reading the arrogant jocks as well, but Eli was definitely a breath of fresh air.
Dani is definitely trying to find herself after her relationship with her boyfriend from high school finally finishes, so she isn't really open to getting back into a new one too quickly - which makes total sense!!! But there is something so different with Eli that she eventually gives it a chance. When this part happened it really made the book for me. Eli & Dani as a couple was something special to read and in particular how Dani evolved throughout the story, especially how she looked at herself differently - she really came into her own in my opinion.

Having read Ms.MacMillan's work once before i've been wanting to pick up more of her books! Ever since i stumbled across a teaser for this book i added it to my TBR list right away. I started reading it as soon as i could. I so enjoyed this story!

Eli and Dani's journey pulled me in! These two are best friends friends. The thing is though, Eli has fallen for Dani. I couldn't wait to see how everything would go for them!

I really liked how i got into their story. I so enjoyed the friendship and chemistry between Eli and Dani! I didn't know exactly how they would tackle things, especially when it came to their hearts which got me even more into their story. I felt so many things throughout!

With Offsides, Ms.MacMillan has created such a good read with feels! I am so looking forward to reading more of her work in the future!

Best friends make the best lovers

"She’s literally the perfect woman."

Dani and Eli were a match made in best friend heaven...well, once Eli stopped being an idiot and Dani finally noticed what was in front of her.
I do have to give Eli credit though, his grovelling was ON POINT. Not only that, but he really stepped up. Showed Dani how she should be treated.

"This Dani with the ponytail, no makeup, workout clothes, and a fierce expression on her face is the girl I’m used to. The one I fell in love with."

I really liked that Dani was going out of her comfort zone, and trying new things. It definitely made everyone stop and take notice of her. I also enjoyed that she was willing to protect Eli, even if he didn't really need it.

It feels like forever that I have been waiting for their book and it did not disappoint.
Full of angst and uncertainty, as well as good friends and fun, it was possibly my favourite book of the series.

I’ve been patently (ok maybe not patiently) waiting for Eli and Dani’s story. Throughout the other books we have always seen these two in the background with this group of friends, the tension has always been there, but Dani has always been taken. Eli has always been there for his friends, especially Dani, but one night the tension crackles and the attraction comes to life, yet he knows he must fight whatever this is. Dani has her own insecurities because of her relationship with her ex and the way her father raised her, but now she has decided to take her life in her own hands and discover herself. Both Eli and Dani have a lot of self-discoveries to do, but can they figure out what this is that might be happening to them more than friends or will things tear them apart? This book was such a great read and these two had a long journey ahead of them to find themselves and explore things beyond friendship.

Dani and Eli have been friends for so long and Eli has been in love with Dani as long as I know them but I think I don't know Dani well because I'm surprised to see Dani has a lot going on with her life when it's revealed in this book. Dani's issue makes the story heavy with angst and makes me feel sympathy for her because she had been played by men in her life long before she meets Eli. And when she finally breaks free from her tomboy character, Eli's jealousy takes over and makes it worse. The good thing is Eli finally lets his feeling show. I would say this book is typical friends to lovers romance but it has a lot more to offer. Dani's finding herself and even if Eli put the wrong foot at the beginning, when he finally understand her issue, he supports her at all costs. I love reading Eli wooing Dani because she deserves it. To tell you the truth, I've known Eli for a while now but I have no idea that Eli can be this sweet and endearing! I enjoy reading the book and I like this version of Eli!

I just loved this! I am so happy to finally read about Eli and Dani and I’ve been following this series. Honestly, this is a standalone romance and totally makes sense even if you haven’t read previous books, but of course, this story is even better if you have! I love Dani and am so happy that she finally realizes that she is better off without her horrible ex. Eli is such a sweetheart and I so feel for him when he tries to figure out how to tell Dani how he feels. To be honest, sometimes I just want to knock their heads together as they somehow seem to make things worse. Thank goodness for Dani and Eli’s friends who want nothing more than to ensure these two’s happiness. I am really loving this series and cannot wait to read more!

Eli and Dani- friends to lovers

Eli, is on off season for football…. So no real sports romance had been infatuated with Dani a power lifter and his friend since they met. Dani had just finally broken up with her long distance boyfriend for the millionth time and this time she doesn’t intent to go back to him and Eli realizes he now has his chance.
Loved Eli’s character, he’s all in and a very romantic and caring boyfriend that just wants Dani, whose never been “girly” happy.
Didn’t care for Dani. Lots of emphasis on how she isn’t really a “girlie” girl because her dad has emotionally coerced her into being the son he wanted. She was not very nice to her roommates and she refused to open up to them or Eli. Was an ok read with some steamy scenes, a little ex drama and happy for now ending .

This story is a friends to lovers college sports romance. This story takes place off season.

This story is about two friends Dani and Eli. They have a lot in common. Dani is fit and she likes to work out. They have always worked out together. Dani had a boyfriend that broke up with her. At the karaoke bar Eli noticed something was going on with her. He kissed her for the first time. He has always liked her more than a friend.

After the kiss things became weird between them. Eli starts treating Dani differently because he likes her. Dani gets confused about how she feels about her feelings for him. She realizes that he has always acted liked a boyfriend to her. They miscommunicate and have misunderstands until they talk. There isn’t any football 🏈 going on in this story. I liked Dani and Eli together as a couple. I wish that some football had been in this story.

Offsides is a friends to lover story that will have you hooked to see what happens between Eli and Dani. These two have been friends for a while and Eli has always wanted more, but with Dani always in her on again off again relationship with her boyfriend from back home, he’s always been there as a friend. But when an opening happens that he doesn’t want to blow he makes a move, but things blow up in his face. Now Eli has to figure out how to fix his friendship and win Dani over or possibly lose her forever. Eli and Dani take us on quite the emotional rollercoaster that will have you hanging on until the end to see if friendship is all there will ever be or if these two finally have a chance to become more.

Dani and Eli have been best friend since freshman year, and he loves her, but she is caught up in her on again/ off again relationship with her high school boyfriend. When Dani comes to the realisation that her relationship with her boyfriend is toxic, lines are crosses when she and Eli go out one night, to a karaoke bar. Can these two move on from friends / lovers? This is a well written story which is sweet, with undeniable chemistry, friendships, emotions, angst, family, action, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

A really sweet friends to lovers story a little unrequited love from our hero and some much needed self discovery for our heroine.
After being in a toxic relationship for far too long Dani with the help of her friends and roommates is finally ready to find out who she is with her confidence and self-esteem on the mend.
Eli finally feels like this might be his opportunity to make his move, but in his excitement he hasn't considered Dani might not be ready to step back into another relationship, plus what happens to their friendship.
Now we've got a mess, can their years of friendship lead them back to the beginning of their forever.
You're gonna enjoy this sweet and messy friends to lovers tale, Eli especially is sure to capture your heart.

4 Stars for this college romance

This is a sweet college romance that will warm your heart. Although I liked Eli and Dani, I just didn't love them. I found the story sweet but predictable and some information repeated over and over in the book. The chemistry between Eli and Dani could burn the pages and the steam factor is high.

Dani and Eli have been best friends since they started college. Eli has always wanted their relationship to be more, but Dani has an on-again / off-again boyfriend back home. But when her boyfriend breaks it off and parades a new girlfriend in front of Dani, Eli is not going to hold back any longer .. he's gonna go after her. Will Dani keep Eli in the friend zone or take a chance on him?

I was hooked on this book. All I wanted to do was sit and read Dani and Eli's story. The main trope is friends to lovers because Dani and Eli have been best friends since the beginning of College. However, Dani has been on and off with her high school boyfriend the entire time. Eli however has had feelings since the beginning.

Dani and Eli's switch from friends to lovers is a great way to show that even those who know each other well can still have awkward moments and situations which made the book feel real and relatable. I loved all of their scenes together and it was just so sweet and happy that I had a smile on my face for most of the book.

Sweet! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. This is my first time reading a book from this author. This story is about Eli and Dani. Eli and Dani have been friends for a while. Eli has been in love with Dani since they met. Btu she doesn't know that yet. When Dani’s boyfriend breaks things off with her. Eli sees this as his opportunity to take his chance with Dani. But how does Dani feel about Eli though? Love the chemistry between these two. Offsides is a fun, sexy, and emotional read that I couldn't put down. Can't wait to read more from this author. Keep up the good job.

Eli and Dani are best friends and have been since Freshman year of college when they met in gym class. When she is dumped once again by her boyfriend back home she thinks about taking Eli home and showing him off especially since he's a Division 1 football player. Eli would do anything for Dani since he's had feelings for her from the beginning. On paper they are perfect she's a biology major and he a bio chem major, both are into science and they want to help people. But Eli never made a move on her so she accepted they would be best friends.
The situation has changed, will moves be made or will it stay in the friends zone?

I love a good friends to lovers romance and Offsides was fantastic! Eli and Dani are great characters! Eli has been in love with Dani since he met her, but has been in a long distance on again/ off again relationship with her boyfriend. When her boyfriend picked another girl over her she was done. Eli thinks it’s time for him to take his shot with Dani and tells her how he feels about her. Offsides is a well written with with amazing characters and awesome chemistry. It’s a fun, sexy, emotional read that I couldn’t stop reading! Thank you Jerica for the great book! I can’t wait for your next book!

Eli’s story is here!

It is not necessary to read the previous books, but they are too good to pass up. Offsides is told in dual points of view, so you know what our main characters are thinking. Characters from previous books make an appearance and a few are part of the main story, but they are easy to relate to even if this is your first book from this series.

Eli and Dani are best friends and share a moment together. Now, it is time to fight for a real relationship or stay as friends forever. These two are cute together even as best friends but the chemistry is obvious. Their banter and easy going lives together is fun to fall into. Dani will realize how she has been treated in the past by her ex-boyfriend and will need to decide if she is ready for a chance with the one man who has always been there for her.

College romance with lots of angst and swoon moments. Grab this one tonight and enjoy this couple. Warning, once you start, you will not be able to put it down.

I’m new to the author so was excited to explore a new authors style of writing and the journey they take me into. This is a friends to lovers romance so that had me hooked since it’s one of my favorite tropes. We meet Eli and Dani who are super good friends and of course have both been secretly interested in the other. I must say I was not a fan of Dani’s on and off again boyfriend. I think the shining star here was definitely Eli for sticking it out and being patient with Dani while she worked out her situation with her ex as well as her problems with her dad. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more from this author.
