But Mede is far from a shrinking solarflower.

A Prequel Story

About Book 9:
Before four princes and four noblemen found their brides, before the death of the Var King Attor and the threat of the Tyoe miners, there was a time of peace on the planet of Quirlixen. It was not a strong peace, but it had lasted for quite some time between the catshifting Var kingdom and their northern neighbors the dragonshifting Draig. It lasted because both sides had very little to do with each other. It is here the dragons found their queen.

If you haven't read any of the other books in this series (and var and space books) I suggest you do. This book reminded me why I love this series and Michelle Pillow's books. This book was funny and I enjoyed reading every page of it.
If you've read any of the other books, this puts a few things in perspective ;)
I really liked Mede and Llyr together. I felt that their romance wasn't rushed and that love happened not because of sex, but because they got to know one another. It was interesting to learn a bit about Attor and how this book was influencing to the others. I enjoyed the other characters, and the roles they played.
Reading this story makes me eager to reread the series from the beginning :)
Overall I give this book 3.5 stars

Getting introduced a bit to Queen Mede in the first 4 Dragon Lords books, I was excited to read her story!
The only female Dragon shifter, she is smart, fierce and a force to be reckoned with!! Prince Llyr is a perfect match for her spirit. Their chemistry is phenomenal!!
The story also gives you bit more history into the tension between the Var and the Draig. Fun and amazing read with incredible audio narration!!
I highly recommend any of Michelle's work!!

This is a reminder. STOP BUYING this author's books!! I loved the first book of the Dragon Lord series. It was refreshing, it was original and reasonably well plotted. The later books have maybe 20 pages of new material and just rehash what was in previous books. This book is a prequel to the Dragon Lords. It was very promising because she had a lot of new material while including information that will become apparent in later books. She apparently forgot some the history she presented in previous books. So many things don't jive with it. Having someone check it for continuity would have helped this book a lot. I'm giving it two stars because it doesn't completely suck.

Mason Lloyd does do an excellent job narrating this book. If you want a fluff piece to listen to while tooling along home from work, he's credible, his voice is fairly crisp and he does neat foreign sounding accents (Eastern European-like).

Note: I will be happy to loan this book to the first US person who PMs me who has a Kindle account.

REVIEW
"How the Queen got her Man "

Would you consider the audio edition of The Dragon's Queen to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version but if it's anything like the audible version then it's fantastic

What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed finding out how Queen Mede met her King. She is one strong female.

What does Mason Lloyd bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brought each character to life. He did a very good job with this audible.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I found myself laughing a lot. Mede is a strong willed and quite stubborn female.

Any additional comments?
I was gifted this audible for my honest review.

Dragonwoman!

What a wonderfully written story of love and treachery.

I was transported to a time in the future where old customs still live.. Far away from civilization is a world of Supernaturals quite different than our world. Dragons not fully developed, but still full of the honor born to Dragons.

Catshifters that live in a primitive animalistic ways, only a border separates them. The Dragons want to live in peace, while the new catshifter King in his sick mind lusts after the only female Dragon thinking she will somehow make him the ruler of both.

Mede the only female Dragon is mated to Prince Llyr and living a life she had sworn to never live, that of a happily married woman. Their love is real and ordained by the gods.

Will a sick and delusional mind ruin their "happy ever after", or will the danger to her family be so strong that Mede will come into her full Dragon form?

Lots of action and suspense. A very gripping story.

I didn't dislike The Dragon's Queen, but I wish she had written this as Book 1 of the series, or just left it out altogether. It was an enjoyable read overall, though, and if you are a devotee of this series, you should read it.

This story is about Llyr and Medellyn (aka Mede), the parents of the Dragon Lords, how they found each other, and so forth. It also tells of how Attor became the King of the Var (the big cat-shifters).

I didn't ever really warm up to Medellyn (Mede). Just too over-the-top stubborn, wanted to be a guy, wanted to never marry, never have children, naive, deluded! I am not a 'girly girl' type, but I couldn't relate to her in any way.

Lyr was a pretty typical Dragon Prince.

The smex wasn't all that great... sort of rushed through.

I have a lot of Ms. Pillow's books and I know they can be more exciting than this.

Mede is special, she’s the only female dragon shifter and she’s determined not to be mated… even to a prince in this bewitching paranormal romance. I have to say that I am really glad that I get to read King Llyr and Queen Mede’s story as well as getting a fascinating look at what started King Attor’s obsession with ending the Draig’s bloodline as it gives the reader a better perspective of the life on Qurilixian. I have to say that I quit enjoyed this romance and Mede’s intriguing character and I can certainly understand why she makes such a great dragon queen.

It was the first book in the series that I read. It was ok. A little chaotic in plot, and a bit lacking in character development. It didn't inspire me to read any more of the series but I did finish it.

Michelle M. Pillow has written a 5-star book. This book will grab you from the first page and keep your interest until the last page. This is Medellyn (Mede) and Llyr's story. Mede is going on a task to become a member of the Dead Dragons. Her task is to get gold fur off of a cat shifter. She meets Attor and he is a cat shifter, but unknown to her, he is the kingdom's crown prince. When she gets back home, she meets Llyr, and she and he talked. She tells him things about herself. Llyr knows that she is the one for him since his crystal is glowing. Mede broke her crystal years ago since she doesn't want to get married. She has feelings for Llyr, but she thinks they are not meant to be together since the crystal he wears doesn't glow. Llyr gets Mede to take him to speak to her father about some ceffyl that is sick. When Mede sees the ceffyl, she tells Llyr that it has eaten solarflowers and a meal after. It can't be fed for a couple of days so the toxins can be cleaned out. When they get to her father, he tells her that he has a baby ceffyl that needs to bond with her, so she goes to the calf. Llyr talks her into taking him to the mines and when they get there, she asks him "What are we doing here?" He tells her he is looking at the mine. She tells him that is not what she is talking about. She tells him that she like him but she knows that they are not meant to be together since his crystal doesn't glow. He tells her that what happens there stays there unless she tells. They end up sleeping together. When they leave the cave, Tomos is there and tells Llyr that the king needs him back at the palace at once. The news is not good. One of the Dead Dragons has gone missing. The Dead Dragons have been called in to go and search for Cynan. When they find him, he is locked in a cage and dying. He has been given some type of poison that kills shifters. Mede, Dylan, and Rolant are with him when he dies. When he is gone, Mede gets mad and goes after the ones who killed him. Mede and Dylan are the ones who go and tell Cynan's family that he is gone and he died a hero. Llyr was told, “The Var king asked about her.” The Var king sent the request for his son, Attor. Things with Attor are not what they seem. It is the day of the Breeding Festival and Llyr is looking for Mede. He has to tell her that she is the one for him and he is hers. He finds her and tells her that he lost his crystal but he didn't need it to know she was the one for him. He asks her what she felt in her heart. He asks her "Will you be my wife?" She tells him yes. Rolant comes and tells Llyr that he is needed up on the stage for the t of the festival. Mede tells him to go and she would wait there for him. When Llyr comes back for her she is gone. Llyr sees Saben and asks for his help in tracking Mede. Llyr thinks that something has happened to Mede. When Llyr and Saben find her, she is tied to a tree.
Will Llyr be able to save Mede?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

THE DRAGON'S QUEEN is listed as the ninth installment to the Dragon Lords, but more properly it's the Prequel to the Dragon Lord series, the first group in the multiple bestselling romance series the Qurilixen World Novel. The series builds upon the individual storylines and characters of each other throughout the series. Each story can be read as a stand alone, but so much better read in their proper order.

This series group follows the Royal family as they find and win their destined mates.  This time we get to find out how King Llyr and Medellyn met and mated.

Finally, we've had hints about the Prince's and Lord's King and Queen's younger years and King Attor wanting to destroy the Royal line. This Prequel will pretty much answer all your questions.

Only once in a thousand births is a female dragon-shifter born and it's Medellyn's time.  Stronger than some men, she refuses to be treated like a woman needing protection. No stupid crystal will tell her who to marry.  Prince Llyr of the Draig has known Mede was his fated mate since childhood. Now to figure out how to convince her they belong together before someone else claims her.

As usual in these stories, the chemistry between the main characters is hot, heavy and romantic. As in the other stories, the wedding night does not go according to Draig customs.

I recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who enjoys fantasy romance on an intergalactic planet and some steamy and fun reading.

You Can’t Fight Fate!

Medellyn, Mede, is a very rare female dragon on Qurilixen. She has been fighting boys off all of her life. She wants to be a warrior, not a married woman with some man bossing her around. She has trained and fought hard to be allowed to join the Dead Dragons, the protectors of the crown. She destroyed her chrystal when she was a girl so that she will never have to marry, or so she thinks!

Prince Llyr, future King, knows Mede is his mate. His crystal lights up any time he is near her. He is afraid if she finds out before the Breeding Ceremony this year, that she will run for the hills and not attend. His plan is to make her love him without her seeing the crystal. With the help of her father, he tricks her into taking him to the mines, and spending time with him there. Of course she can’t resist him. The more time she spends with him the more attracted to him she is, but she knows she is not his mate because his crystal doesn’t glow when she is near. She doesn’t know he switched crystals with one of his guards.

This is a great story with a great ending! This is the last book in the Qurilixen series and tells the story of how it all began. I didn’t understand why this book would be last instead of first, but after reading it I understand why Michelle did it this way!

Medellyn is a female dragon shifter of the Draig. She doesn’t need a mate. Mede smashed her crystal. She is destined to be more than a subservient wife and popping out dragon babies. Mede has trained to be a member of the Dead Dragon warriors. On a task she runs into the cat shifters. She has to get fur from one of the shifters in their territory. Unknowingly, she has met the Prince Attor of the Var. He is instantly taken with her and plans to use her to create a new breed to take over the planet. His father the king has become a drunk. So Attor has been guided by terrible influences.
Prince Llyr of the Draig has loved Mede for years. He knows she is his fated mate. But he can’t scare her off with his glowing crystal. He knows she is a great warrior but he still needs to protect her. He convinces Mede to start a relationship. Their chemistry and attraction is off the charts. But she doesn’t believe she is his mate.
Good story with lots of drama, off the chart chemistry and the back story about the tension between the two shifter kingdoms. Love the story of how the King and Queen and parents of the four princes got together. Also, explained how her mother’s cookies became important to the Queen Mede. Her mother could get her way with the cookies. Her mother might appear subservient but she was smart. This raps up the series with the royal family of dragon shifters.
Has a HEA.

The Dragon Lords Saga begins!!! This is a prequel which shows Mede and Llyr as young dragon shifters.

Mede is most definitely not getting married!! So much so she smashed her crystal when still a youngster. She sees mating as an end to the life she has, no more training with the men or running in the forest. That is just not the HEA she is after. So she goes after entry to the Dead Dragons, a Draig order of Chivalry, and a high honour.

Whilst completing her initiation, bringing back fur from a Var, she stumbles across a noble Var, who allows her to scrape off some of his fur. He finds her smell intoxicating and realises she is the fabled female dragon!! And Prince Attor wants her for his half mate. Var don't fully mate like the draig, he just wants Mede for his collection. He thinks that having Mede will make him overall ruler of the planet - cam anyone say delusional!!!

Prince Llyr had seen Mede when they were children and new she was his mate. He understands that she wants to be her own person but isn't above a bit of subterfuge to stack the deck in his favour!!

A stonking good story and a great way to fill in some of the remaining gaps from the Dragon Lords series. We see what shaped Attor and his beliefs and how the two shifter tribes came to a kind of non-war stalemate. Great read

Mede is a female dragon shifter – the only one of her kind – and a warrior, living in a world of pampered, imported fated mates. Prince Llyr knows she’s his destined mate, but wants more than anything to be Mede’s choice of a mate. Too bad things are a bit more complicated than just a once-in-a-lifetime relationship…

The Dragon’s Queen is a fun prequel trip back in time to when the king and queen of the rest of the series met and fell in love. I wasn’t sure going on if I was going to enjoy this story as much as I did the rest of the books in the series, but I really shouldn’t have been worried. There were some slower moments to the story that I didn’t love as much as I might have wanted to, but the romance between Mede and Llyr was everything I’d hoped to find. Mede is as fabulous a heroine as any of Pillow’s women, and Llyr doesn’t give his place in romancing the woman he knows is his own. Their romance is unpredictable and exciting. I also loved Mede’s relationships with her family – her mother is utterly priceless. Pillow ties some political drama into the story and throws in some fun Easter eggs for series reader as well. The Dragon’s Queen is a fabulous wrap-up to an unmissable series for scifi romance fans—or the perfect launching point for a second read-through.

It might seem funny to say that a prequel story would be a great ending to a series but that’s just what this is. Michelle M. Pillow has done a great job making the romance stories in this series very different from each other and has an excellent overall story that runs through the books. This book which is about the parents of the princes in the other books and does a marvelous job of giving us more details about how the situations on this planet came about while it tells the romance of Mede and Llyr.
Mede and Prince Llyr are fated by their Gods to marry but this couldn’t be a story that followed a regular pattern for a romance and still live up to the quality of the rest of this series. I don’t want to give anything away but I will say that it’s a marvelous read and I really enjoyed it. You can read these books out of order the way I accidentally did (oops) or as I would recommend you can read them in order. Either way you are in for a marvelous journey. Enjoy.

Mede is one of a kind, in every conceivable way, that doesn't mean every man she encounters should propose marriage. She isn't looking to be just another wife... she wants to be somebody, now she's got to figure out who and what that somebody will be.

Prince Llyr, future king, skilled warrior, and eligible bachelor, wants to meet Mede... not because she's the lone female of their kind, but because of who she is as a person, but can he convince this amazing woman, who is used to people not getting to know her, or truly see her, that he sees all of her, and loves her all the more for it.

This done in one book is a great story about the woman fit to be Queen, the one with the strength to stand toe to toe with a King, to lead in her own right, the confidence in her skills to lead alongside him, the heart and compassion to care for all of their people. This story shows the many sides of these future leaders, and what life demands from them.

I was gifted with a copy of this book and chose to share my review.

2020 QUARANTINE READ: 4 STARS!

The prequel of the Dragon Lords - the parents of the princes from books 1 to 4.

I never actually thought that I would like this one or expect that this was how (half-human, half-draig) Mede and (crown prince) Llyr met and mated. Though I had some thoughts about Attor and Mede but I was surprised that this was how it actually began -

Mede was older in the first four books and she was already calm and wise beyond her years. I wish I could have seen her shift in those books.

Would there be another books with Var mixed with Draig? That would be cool.

Mede has had to fight for equality, meeting every challenge to prove she is just as good, even better than the Draig men. Being the only Draig female means that every male has tried to meet her to see if their crystal glows, proving that she is their mate, but she doesn’t want marriage and hasn’t kept that fact a secret.
Prince Llyr has known from an early age that Mede is his mate, but has kept quiet because he knows she will run as far and as fast as she could if she knew. So, he has decided to become her friend before he tells her.
Unfortunately, Mede has caught the eye of one of their neighbors, a cat-shifters, who has decided that she is his and he will do anything to achieve that end.
I absolutely loved this book: I have enjoyed them all but this one was so enjoyable, the insight into the Dead Dragon group and all the revelations in this book makes it one of the best in series to me.

I consider myself a true lover of ALL things Qurilixen but this is the book I've been dying to read.
Queen Mede had been such a minor character in the previous books but she always lead the Princess down the right path with son's. She provided humor as well.
Finally, we get HER BACKSTORY! It was well worth the wait. I am going to try not to spoil anything here but no promises.
In her young adulthood she was one tough cookie with a mind and will of her own, doing things SHE wanted. And it just got stronger with age. Never, ever wanting a mate. Then enter Llyr and the Gods wills will be done, no matter what Mede's plans were.
Mede truly is my most beloved female character in the whole world of Qurillixen books. She's tough, strong, doesn't take cr@p from ANY man & is a lady (but tell her I said that). 🙂🙂
Michelle M Pillow does a kick a@@ job with her craft & I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK & all of her books!

Medellyn is special. She's a very rare female dragon shifter. Endlessly courted by the males in her life, Medellyn , or Mede as she preferred to be called, wanted only to left alone to enjoy the things she loved to do; like train to be a warrior, ride ceffyls, and hunt in the forest. Daring to join a secret male-only dragon shifter sect, she meets a Var male in cat-shifter lands while completing an initiation rite to join the sect. The chance meeting sets off a chain of events that will change both of their lives. Prince Llyr, future king of the Draig, watches Lady Mede from a careful distance. He feels bound to her, but knows that if he comes on too strong, he'll lose her. Can Mede forget the strange blond cat-shifter? Will Prince Llyr ever be able to declare his feelings for her without it driving her away? Read this exciting story about a strong-willed heroine and the men who love her and find out!

Another entertaining read in this series! This one is a prequel to this series, so you don’t necessarily have to have read the previous books. I liked that this book has an alien/dragon that is female this time! Mede is the only female Draig, so she’s treated like a precious little thing; she’s not exactly happy about it. Mede does try too hard to be as tough as the males, so that can get annoying, but I did like that she has sass. Mede has to deal with many of the males trying to marry her; it’s put her off marriage, so when Prince Llyr knows she’s the one for him, he has to put in extra work to break down Mede’s walls. Mede’s resistance is also annoying to read about, but I get that she’s jaded. There is a steamy connection between Mede and Llyr; plus, the sweet moments! I liked them together. Llyr is great! He’s understanding, and lucky for Med, tenacious. Overall, cool world building, interesting characters, steamy and sweet romance, and a bit of fun suspense!

I attempted to read this book a few times last year and I just couldn’t. Maybe I was sick of the series. Actually I think it is because it veered so far from the series tried and true formula.
I also hate the prince of the Var so much. Every time he was on page I was worried.

So when I found it on audio for free I gave it another shot. I listened while cleaning and was able to finish it.

Eh. I like most of Pillow’s books. I am moving off this series and on to “Romancing the Recluse”.

(OK. I have a confession. Even though I was not totally into this, i HAD to find out where the Var prince was going to fit in. So, as much as I wanted to DNF, I did.)

Virgin rating:
Innocence of virgin hero: 3/5 (never been with a female before in any way)
Innocence in losing it: 2/5 (he didn’t need guidance & was able to last)
Build up to losing it: 1/5 (no real build up. First kiss leads to losing it.)
Hotness of losing it: 3/5
Busted touching himself: no

A captivating read, great characters and plot
This was a simply wonderful read the characters were simply wonderful and the scenario was absolutely wonderful and I guarantee that once you start reading you will not be able to put down until you reach the end.
This is a prequel to and yet I found this to be as entertaining a read as all the others it was full of information and details and I found that it actually made the rest of the series make more sense and if you have any queries, I am sure this will help.
You will thoroughly enjoy the characters and as I do not like to spoil the plot for other readers will say that you will be so pleased that you took the time reading this wonderful story.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

This story was the prequel to the Qurilixen dragon series. The female lead was a bit of a spoiled brat. She crushed her own magic stone when she was young because she wanted to dictate her own destiny. Then she proceeded to push away the guy she was attracted to, that declared his love to her, because she didn’t think his stone was saying they were compatible. I had a hard time liking this leading lady and the disjointed logic behind her thoughts and behavior. She played hard to get for way too long.

Nonetheless, I gave this story four stars because it was well written and it put some context to events that happen in some of the other stories. I do like the fantasy of the Qurilixen universe Michelle M. Pillow has created. The Space Lords series is my favorite, followed by the Var series.

Mede is the only female dragon shifter on Draig and wants to be thought of as more than just a marriageable female. She wants to be viewed as an equal. As a show of her opposition to marriage, she smashed her own crystal so that she could control her own life. Llyr, the future Draig king, loves Mede and knows she's his mate but he doesn't want her to know until they know one another on a deeper level. There are plenty of challenges and threats throughout the story with just the right amount of hot and steamy action. Enjoyed some of the characters who come into play in later stories - Attor, Myrddin. I enjoyed reading this but wish I had started out reading this one first- it's the ninth book in the series yet it's the prequel to the other eight and there are things that would have felt clearer if I'd read this one first.

Wow! Llyr and Mede's story is the best so far! I thought their sons had great books but the parents beat them hands down. Mede is one heck of a dragon but don't call her Lady. Mede has spent her life proving herself the equal of every other dragon and really takes offense when they try to treat her as a defenseless female. Llyr has know that Mede is his from his first sighting of her and struggles with his desire to protect her and his allowing her to do as she desires. Llyr's understanding of Mede is so complete that at times I just wanted to shake her until she saw the truth. Great story with an amazing reveal.

I really enjoyed Mede and Llyr's story. Prince Llyr was brilliant and I really enjoyed his tactics for capturing Mede's heart. Mede was such a strong character, but sometimes her strength was her weakness. She was so stubborn. I loved how her mother proved over and again how strength didn't always lie in brute force. Sometimes, it takes a woman! This book also explained some things about Prince Attor and why he hates Mede and Llyr so much. Enjoyable read and definitely a must for those reading the Dragon Prince series. There were some editing flaws, but overall a good read for a rainy day.

I received a copy from Booksprout in exchange for my honest review.

Another book in the Qurilixen world of the dragon-shifting Draig and the cat-shifting Var. Prince Llyr is the future king of the dragon-shifters and Mede is the only female dragon-shifter and therefore Llyr must marry her. However Mede does not want to marry ANYONE. She is as brave and strong as any male dragon-shifter so why should she marry any of them. Follow Llyr as he tries to woo Mede. This book is slightly different from the others having a female dragon-shifter but these stories are now getting a little samey. However that is not to say it’s not enjoyable.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
