However, the world-building remains strong, and scenes like the discovery of the “big box store” add both realism and intrigue. Interesting premise but poor execution. The natural progression for Silo 42 would be for some people to want to venture outside. Unfortunately, Paiss doesn't fully flesh out the tension between those who want to stay and those who want to venture out. Instead this tension is brushed aside, and the focus is on preparing for the journey out. The final chapter is really exciting, though I wish we had more time with the characters beforehand.

short sweet and to the point

This and the other Silo 42 books maybe short but they are gripping page turners. Paiss knows his audience and he stays true to the Silo Universe! I can’t wait for book 4!!
