This is the most comprehensive children’s Bible we’ve read so far. I was impressed with the sheer volume of stories included and really appreciated that it included things generally left out of other children’s Bibles.

The language is very straightforward and basic. Each story is one two-page spread with 2-3 succinct paragraphs of text. Perfect for reading one a day at the breakfast table. Though we usually did more than one.

Having full color illustrations on every page really did draw a lot of interest from my boys. As a side-note, all shirtless men in this Bible have 6-pack or 8-pack abs which had me cackling.

I honestly couldn’t believe that our school gave this to our five-year-old, within the first few pages, there were men beating each other up and killing. These are not stories for little five-year-old kids!

One of the best Bibles that I have found. I am blind and autistic and have scammed and comb through many different kids Bibles since I don’t understand the full adult Bible. The main Bible I use for a real one is the international children’s Bible the other main one I now use since I got it last week is the illustrated children’s Bible. Actually, it was two weeks ago now, I know hard to believe. I have it both on audible and as a physical book. I use a device called an or cam my eye with a pair of eyeglasses to read it and I can honestly say I love this book. Like I said, one of my favorite Bibles, love the pictures/sound effects in the audio version and I also love the way that the stories are written. They’re written very well, almost like reading a history textbook or something like that. Love how they’re presented and love that it’s a two page spread. Love that it’s easy to read to as I am still getting used to using my device. And I also love that it’s available and audio so I can listen to the times that I can’t bring the book with me. I read it at school sometimes and other places. I love the extensive amount of Bible stories this has and that it doesn’t skip over some parts of Bible stories. I mean difficult parts. It does skip things like jubilee and stuff like that but that’s to be expected because it’s more condensed so not every law in Leviticus or Deuteronomy is going to be covered. I have not finished this book yet, but I’m still in the old testament. Haven’t made it to the New Testament yet although I don’t go in order. I read it the same way that I would read a regular Bible, which is certain stories what I need to for 2 understand what they’re saying in church or something like that. Like I said, I use it the same way I would a real Bible. I’m not going to read all the stories straight through in order cover to cover.

I have 4 children; my oldest child is 15 and my youngest is 6 ... I've read through a lot of children's Bibles over the years. I really like this one for the early elementary age. Each story is a two page spread with a well written 2-4 paragraph summary of the story and nicely drawn art work.

While many children's Bibles only include the highlights, this one walks carefully through the biblical narrative from Genesis to Revelation. It doesn't shy away from the hard stories, but shares them in a way that is age appropriate. (For example, this Bible actually includes a description of the desolation and judgements described in Revelation. Looking through 5 other good children's Bibles we own, this is the only one that touches on Revelation beyond a cheerful "Jesus is coming back soon." I'm not criticizing the others, but simply using that as an illustration of the thoroughness of this one.)

With my older children being well beyond the "Bible story" stage, I've had to be more intentional to not neglect such readings for my youngest. It's worked well to include this at the beginning of our school day, and she was excited to finish it this morning. 😊

If you are new to Christianity or perhaps feel intimidated by thinking about reading the Bible or just haven’t had time I cannot recommend this enough!!

I bought it for my niece and decided to open it to check it out and ended up reading it in entirety.

I’m a newer Christian and the best way I can describe this is a cliff notes version of the Bible. Easy to read and get through with a summary of all stories from the Bible. It truly helped me understand the Bible and timeline and some of the main scripture I’ve heard so much about.

Yes, I will still read the Bible itself but this was a perfect place to start.

Beautiful. A simple, yet comprehensive way to present biblical text to kids. It took us over a year to read through this. I highly recommend this Bible for family Bible time, and especially if your kids are 10 and under.

We've been telling our grandson Bible Stories using this book. Now that he's older we can read them to him. I don't there is any exhaustive Bible Story book and so I believe its up to me to share anything else that can be helpful and bridge the gap from 1 story to another. The end time stories at the end is also very relevant, maybe to the days in which we live even more than at any other time.

Unfortunately it's been called a Children's Bible whereas its a book very helpful to all ages. I'm so grateful to be able to send it to people in the north who have limited resources. :)

I read this with my two little girls ever night for the past few years. Love the pictures and how much of the Bible it covers (not just the typical Sunday School stories). A great tool for parents to help help share God's Word with them.

4.5 stars. Solid children's versions, but some of the illustrations are funny looking.

Excellent amount of detail from Biblical account told in a way that is understandable to children. My grandchildren really enjoy and my 4th and 5th graders can read for themselves.

An illustrated Bible story book for children. It is more extensive than many other Bible story books, with engaging pictures.

We started reading this book in March after my daughter saw some of the medieval images in the series of wooden panels near the altar at Notre Dame (pre-fire: I hope they survived but I don’t know), which re-inspired her interest in the Bible (I’m not sure whether I’m pleasantly surprised or a bit worried by this interest – good thing she has an expert guide!). It features condensed versions of numerous biblical stories (and sometimes, in the case of the Gospels, harmonies), with illustrations, which are a collective effort by “Netscribes.” For the most part they’re reliable synopses of major stories and teachings, without glossing over violent episodes; though it’s interesting that almost no dialogue is maintained, and there is no effort to actually quote the bible. The overall effect of the selection and abridgement seems basically non-sectarian, but at the very end, in the last chapter on the Revelation of John, there is a prayer for the second coming of Christ, almost like an expansion of the scribal colophon, perhaps suggesting the rapture and a primarily Evangelical intended audience.

To be honest, we didn't finish this picture Bible all the way through. We were well into January when I realized I hadn't been reading the Bible regularly with my kids, and the reason is because we (or at least I) just wasn't getting anything out of the stories. Sure, the illustrations are probably one of the best I've seen, but the stories are short and disjointed, and several are not child-friendly in my opinion (my kids are ages 6, 4 & 3). Yes, I get that they are in the Bible, but without context some of the stories just come across as strange or even morbid, and I found myself explaining a lot of background. We will switch to a picture Bible intended for a younger audience, as well as a NLT version for sections of Psalms and the New Testament.

*Will revise this review in a few years, after we've had a chance to re-visit this Bible.

Added Feb 2021: we enjoyed the New Testament part much more than the first half of this Bible.
