Jackson Clay has been many things to law enforcement in his time helping those who have needed it most. Witness. Ally. Asset. But there’s one thing he’s never been…
The prime suspect.
Until now.
When his ex-wife, Nathalie, is brutally killed along a lonely stretch of highway, the evidence points to Jackson. His efforts to clear his name and grieve the only woman he ever truly loved thrust him head-first into the investigation, but what he learns may be even more heartbreaking than Nathalie’s death.
Nathalie received a phone call in the weeks leading up to her death. The caller? Dale Jeffers, the man in jail and held responsible for the death of Nathalie and Jackson’s late son, Evan. His message?
He didn’t kill Evan.
Now, Jackson must solve not one but two who killed Nathalie and who really killed his son some fifteen years ago. The search for these and other truths rehash old wounds and force Jackson to again grapple with a darkness he’d thought he’d put behind him.
But that same darkness is where the ultimate evil lurks. And it’s waiting, ready to strike should Jackson Clay get too close.
B. C. Lienesch is a former freelance writer and featured columnist and editor for GuysNation.com but has done everything from owning a bakery to selling fireworks out of a pair of shipping containers. Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Northern Virginia, he now lives in the same area with his wife, Meg, their two dogs, Kaia and Aria, and two cats, Luna and Hitchcock. CHASING DEVILS is his third novel. He previously wrote COUNTRY ROADS and THE WOODSMAN.
B.C. Lienesch’s masterful command of setting, plot, prose, and realistic dialogue in Chasing Devils gives Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan series a solid run for its money. While I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in the Jackson Clay series, Chasing Devils left me with a heavy dose of that “Holy shit” reader’s high where I just couldn’t stop thinking about and processing the entire story or the characters’ actions from riveting beginning to powerful climax. Trust me – this is a series you don’t want to miss and an absolute must-read for action thriller fans. With characters like Jackson Clay, Bear Beauchamp, and Jen Bailey – you’ll be frantically flipping pages to get to the end – all while wanting the thrilling ride to last forever.
Chasing Devils is the last in the series and a real page turner. I couldn’t put it down and the closer I got to the end the more desperate I was to finish it. The character development of Jackson Clay, Bear Beauchamp, and Jen Bailey was superb. I hope B. C. Lienesch continues with the characters and series in some way as I was on the edge of my seat anticipating the next page and would like to see more.
This book really gets down to the nitty gritty of who Jackson really is and was as a father, a husband, and the man he has become. The author really could have ended the series right on that final page. Which,BTW, hits you right into your soul. And Bear is that kind of friend who, if you're truly blessed, comes around once in your lifetime. I have that, so I should know.
The third in a series with a final mystery solved. This author's skill in developing his characters over the series inspires the reader to become attached to them - facilitating relationships that leaves us wanting to see more of their story. I will miss them. Well done, Mr. Lienesch, and thank you for sharing Jackson and Bear with us.
It is a great book to read. I had a hard time putting it down to go to bed. I really enjoyed the story. Not a lot of words describing things that doesn't add to the story. No paragraphs about what they wore or what they ate. I have read 3 books and enjoyed all of them. Would highly recommend them.
A book that fills in the gaps of his ex wife and son. Filled with flash backs of early days of marriage and life. A possibility that son could be still alive? Him and Bear seem to be one step ahead of the police most of the time trying to find the killer. Not a lot of action in this one.
I really enjoyed this story and this series and can't wait until the next book comes out. Jackson and Bear are two of my favorite book characters. This story was well written.
Can't wait for next book!! Two main character perfectly contrast. Storyline keeps up pace and brings a satisfying conclusion. Will definitely put Lienesch on my keep reading favorites.
Thank Mr L T Ryan. This writer is wonderful. He has everything in is books. Adventure, romance, sadness an happiness. I lo d the 3 books I've look forward to more. Thank you again
