Amazon kindle 99p read. Thank goodness that was what I paid because if had been more then I would be upset at the wasted money. I do sometimes wonder why I keep doing this to myself; buying cheap books and then thinking that there will be a hidden gem. The problem is that you do get hidden gems but they are like unicorn horns.
This is one of those face slapper stories. I've slapped my own face so many times reading this that I might not be able to remember them all, but I'll try.
Heroine has Cinderella backstory (ish). She was in foster care, her foster family are abusive, she does all the chores, tries really hard to be perfect so they'll love and accept her. She serves the hero in the bakery she works in (while not doing chores at home and gives foster family half her wages voluntarily). I think that deserves at least two face slaps. She's been dating a guy connected to her foster family (can't think of what tenuous connection they have), and she's expecting him to propose on their 5th anniversary, because, get this, she really wants to have sex with him. Okaaaay. This becomes a face slap idea when you meet the boyfriend because he's written as emotionally abusive too, and aggressive, so I don't think that he would have cared to wait for five years.
Anyway. He's caught in the act with her foster sister and after they fling her about like a rag doll to show how powerful they are, they tell her she's going to be sold to some mysterious organisation. Face slap. Of course she is. She tries to escape the basement room she's slept in for three years, but has NEVER noticed the little window in there which she now uses to escape. Face slap!
She almost escapes, gets caught by a goon from the mysterious organisation and then rescued by the hero who bought donuts from her earlier. I think she deserves another face slap just for being a moron.
Now comes the obligatory smut. It just goes on and on and on and on. He can't keep his hands off her, she can't stop eing attracted to her rescuer who incidentally, won't let her leave. Completely normal set up. Face slap.
The plot thickens with more wooden characters and villains, which if you're half asleep you will notice how they are going to play out by the end, if you can stay awake through all of the pages of horrendous smut, that is. No spoilers here, because it's in the title, after all the unprotected smutting, she discovers she's pregnant and while she knows she wasn't on birth control, she wonders how the hero wasn't being "responsible" and got her pregnant. Face slap. Maybe she was too busy swooning that she didn't notice he wasn't wearing protection. Face slap.
I have to admit that I skipped at least 20 pages in the final bit and picked up right where I knew it would end. No shockers, the twist was a damp squib, and I think I can safely say this is not going on my favourite book pile.
If you like mafia romances, there are others out there which are much better than this. Sorry Ajme Williams, it just wasn't for me.

The book started out good and I thought it was going to be a good read. It just went down the rabbit hole so fast. For a mafia Don he sure was stupid he was trying to hide her but he took her to a funeral and then out to dinner. She wasn't much better when she escaped she went back to the family that abused her and was going to sell her into sex slavery. It I couldn't finish it after that I just gave up on it it was just too silly LOL

All her life Alexis has always been in danger and someone was always attempting to kidnap her and she doesn't have any idea why it's happening. It was during one of those times after she had ran away from another horrible foster house at eight years old because her foster parent hit her, when she meet Dennis Carter who had intervene on her behalf in an attempt abduction on the streets and stopped it and took her home to live with him and his wife Suzanne Carter and their daughter Emma. She was only allowed to stay in their house as long as she cooked and cleaned for them and give them half of her paycheck from Cake My Day a bakery where she's employed at. She stayed in their house until she was eighteen. She lives in fear that they would kick her out now that she has turned eighteen.
Alexis has been dating her boyfriend Mark Abernathy for five years and have not slept with him. On their fifth anniversary she thought about giving herself to him and went to his apartment to surprise him but got the shock of her life when she caught him and her step-sister in bed fucking. She was so hurt she ran home crying. But when she home at ran into her foster parents and they asked her what happened her evil step-fostor sister answer her parents telling them what happened and she also enlighten her that she and Mark had been sleeping the entire five years and that he didn't want her. Damian fears Invicta and The Brotherhood will ream up and try to overtake them. When the Don of The Brotherhood Mario comes to him asking for his help tracking a virgin girl who ran away, he shocked to see that it was same girl who he had stashed at his penthouse. Part of the Mafia Mysteries series hang on and and you might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way! Alexis life hasn’t been that great after her mother was murdered at six sent into foster care being sent from home to home never feeling like it was a home until finally a family accepts her but treats her like the hired help cooking, cleaning, taking care of everything even being forced to live in the basement even after getting a job she was forced to give them half her paycheck but what she didn’t know the family wasn’t good they have plans of selling her and those plans even included her boyfriend of five years after figuring out their plans she is able to escape but not for long. Damian sexy as all get out mafia leader he is by no means a good man he is dangerous, ruthless, on a good day, deadly every day but he has so much to deal with when the other families keep trying to take over his territory but now he has to save a girl being held by another family and have to figure out her story to understand her importance to them. Damian’s relationship isn’t a happy start, but something tells him she is important to him bringing out his overprotectiveness willing to do what it takes to keep her safe but with the forces of his uncle and his ex. doesn’t make it easy but when he pushes her away she does the one thing she is used to run, all her life she has felt unloved or that others keep trying to drag her down or do something horrible to her when all she wants is freedom, will that freedom come at the cost of her life, do the family that mistreated her get what they deserve especially the sister, the boyfriend, and is there any form of peace/happiness for our girl?

Dieses Buch enthält eine sehr wilde Mafia Geschichte, mit einer wechselnden Erzählperspektive beider Protagonisten und einem leichten und flüssigen Schreibstil.
Diese Storyline war sehr interessant und vorallem sehr ereignisreich zugleich. Es passiert sehr viel und bleibt durchgehend spannend, was mir schon ein wenig zu viel Spannung war. Da hätte ich mir ganz gerne mehr ruhigere Kapitel gewünscht um eine gute Balance zu bekommen.
Die Handlung war auf eine emotionale Achterbahnfahrt, jedoch haben mir die Gefühle deutlich gefehlt.
Zu den Charakteren kann ich sagen, dass Alexis in ihre Rolle gut durchdacht war. Obwohl sie von nichts was passiert eine Ahnung hat und sich auch in der dunklen Mafia Welt erst neu orientieren muss, wirkte sie keinesfalls naiv. Dennoch kam ihre zurückhaltende Art gut zur Geltung und gab ihrem Charakter das gewisse Etwas, da sie dennoch Feuer in sich hatte und willensstark war.
Damien jonnte ich anfangs nicht einschätzen, da er mir zu undurchsichtig war. Ich wechselte ständig zu dem Gefühl hin und her ob er nun eher naiv als Don sei oder einfach nur nicht weitläufig genug dachte. Vielleicht war von beidem etwas dabei, denn anders kann ich mir nicht erklären wieso er sich von Vinny auf der Nase hat rumtanzen lassen ohne auch nur einmal misstrauisch zu werden. Da hätte so einiges unnötige erspart werden können.
Und obwohl es schon viel zu viel Spannung gab, rund um Alexis's ihrer Vergangenheit und Gegenwart und dem Geheimnisses was sie unwissend umgibt, wird noch mehr Spannung eingebracht mit der Szenerie von Scarlett und Vinny...
Es war okay aber nochmal lesen oder empfehlen würde ich es nicht, da es zu viele Ungereimtheiten gibt die nicht aufgeklärt werden.

Little did she know they had unspeakable and vial plans for her even her boyfriend of five years was part of the plan. After it all came to light she manages to escape only to be grabbed by a gun weilding guy then taken/saved by another.
Damian has enough on his plate as other Mafia families want his territory so saving a girl who's being held by one is the last thing he needs. Now he needs to figure out why she's so important to them.
Their story has a bit of everything murder, abuse, kidnapping, trafficking, turf wars, betrayals, secret identity, unplanned pregnancy, revenge and undeniable chemistry.
I enjoyed their storyline yet I was frustrated with Damian who seemed to allow his Uncle Vinny push him around he appeared weak not the feared mob boss he was made out to be. Then you have Alexis who made really questionable decisions that drove me crazy. I did love his sister Natalia >Nat< and Edo his consigliere. I do hope there will be a book featuring them soon.

Hot Mess!
This story is a hot mess but a very good one! Lots of action,dark intense, even heart! Damon is a mafia guy true and true but a heart of gold where it counts in this case Alexis.He meets her first at the bakery where she works,she has lead a horrible upbringing, her mother is killed when she is young and she is put in foster care where she is treated like trash and abused only to escape and in pick up by a family she thought maybe they would love her but she soon found out that she was their personal slave and that their daughter and Alexis's boyfriend was seeing each other behind her back.She is placed in the cellar and learns that she is going to be sold to the brotherhood,so she plans her escape but when she does some thug holds her at gunpoint but Damon and Edo save her and take her back to their home,she fines out their are mafia and she doesn't know how to feel about,she and Damon are getting closer but something happen and she trys to plan her escape from there too for the second time but they b find her at her old house after she kills her her ex boyfriend who was sleazy jerk! Damon takes her back home but when things are going OK and Damon is actually opening his heart to Alexis everything goes downhill,their is a bounty out for Alexis,Damon's places are being hit and finally Alexis is finally kidnap right from Damon's home and it gets worst but in the end everything is settled and the mystery of who and why Damon's parents and sister was killed,why her mom was killed ,who her father is.Everthing was tried by the end of the book,either by death's and there still plenty of surprises and happy endings!

This is the 2nd story in the Mafia Mysteries Series where we find Alexis who lost her mother at 8 years old and in and out of foster homes ending up with the Carter family who treats her horribly and their daughter is down right mean. When Alexis’s boyfriend, Mark is caught with her step-sister things fall apart quickly where Alexis is told she’s to be sold to the Brotherhood. Damian shows up at the right time recusing her from a gunned enemy during her escape. Damian is the Don of his family after his father’s death and winning a fight to ensure his position over his Uncle Vinny. Vinny is a snake and Nat, Damian’s sister and 2nd in command lets him know her distrust and boy do they not like one another. Alexis brings some big trouble but Damian’s unable to let her go. Once his protectiveness kicks in their relationship gets twisted with an intensity neither have experienced. Damian gets spooked and pulls away at the worst moment and Alexis finds herself unloveable by another person dragging her down and finding a way to escape. Danger finds her instead of getting away and once Damian and Nat find out they do what is necessary to get her back! There’s cruelty, secrets, death, danger, back stabbing, genuine care and love. With those out to cause destruction and harm are flushed out it’s great to see how this dark mafia story comes to conclusion. This book was out of control bad! It was a mafia romance that involved kidnapping of the woman and an over the top mafia don hero and I thought oooo I’m going to love this!
Nope! This hero was the biggest freaking pussy I have ever read! I was hoping for touch her and die vibes but instead I got “well he’s my uncle so he has to be trustworthy” and “I have to be dismissive of the heroine and let her deal with threats all on her own because I would hate to draw attention to her!” It was all hand wringing and nail biting. Absolutely ridiculous! This man could not have possibly been a mafia don or a badass hero.
I would say that I would hope the heroine would become a lesbian and get with the “hero’s” sister but the heroine was beyond stupid. She was being sold into sex trafficking by her foster family and boyfriend and the first thing she does when her and the hero have a fight is run away and GO BACK TO THE HOME WHERE HER FOSTER FAMILY LIVES!! What the actual fuck?!?! Honestly, what did she think was going to happen. At that point I decided I am not going to read any further. She deserves whatever she gets at this point and I do not care what happens.
Don’t read this book unless you enjoy reading about a cast of idiots unfit for the world in which they live. Absolutely hate this book!

I am always down for a good mafia romance, and the twists and turns in this book did not disappoint!
Alexis found herself in the foster care system at 8 years old after her mother was murdered. Without her father around, she fell into some horrid foster families.
In her current family, the Carter’s, she is treated like Cinderella. Cooking and cleaning for her foster parents and foster sister. Nothing was ever good enough for them. After finding out her boyfriend of 5 years was involved with her foster sister, she also finds out that her foster family and “boyfriend” have sold her to The Brotherhood to pay off their debts.
Before she could get taken, she escapes and finds herself being rescued by another mafia family run by Damian. Over the next months, he vows to keep er safe, even if that means keeping her in the dark.
All of it comes crashing down when his uncle and ex-fiancée figure out who Alexis really is and kidnaps her.
This book is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing on what happens next. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

Alexis found herself in the foster care system at 8 years old after her mother was murdered. Without her father around, she fell into some horrid foster families.

After finding out her boyfriend of 5 years was involved with her foster sister, she also finds out that her foster family and “boyfriend” have sold her to The Brotherhood to pay off their debts.
Before she could get taken, she escapes and finds herself being rescued by another mafia family run by Damian. Over the next months, he vows to keep er safe, even if that means keeping her in the dark.
All of it comes crashing down when his uncle and ex-fiancée figure out who Alexis really is and kidnaps her.
This book is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing on what happens next. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

It’s crazy that I felt safer in the arms of a mob boss than I ever did with my ex-boyfriend... A life of abuse is all I've known when I finally run from it. This was a wonderful mafia romance book with some parts being very spicy. The plot line for this book was Brilliantly put together from beginning to the end and the characters were phenomenally put together which made the book flow really well and it was very enjoyable. Ajme Williams has written another fabulous book and I would highly recommend this book.

Honest review time….
I went in feeling hopeful and optimistic but this was not it. I am finding out that most of these authors have trouble with creating a bad boy mafia lead (don, pahkan, etc) Damien could not do anything 😂. He couldn’t shoot, fight, think, or find his missing woman. His sister had more brains and balls than he did. I was disappointed with how he turned out to be. He let his funky uncle and ex walk all over him. He also did not think!!!!! Everything he was advised he should have thinking like that anyway. He was against trafficking but agreed to a share of the money to find the f. Smh What else??? Also I have never heard of someone getting shot and taking a day to recover come on do not insult our intelligence as an avid reader I think this is sloppy writing. I did like the epilogue! If the authors want to read about alpha males in the mafia business check out Neva Altaj- they could all be my book boos scares and all!

This book is definitely light mafia. It was ok, but it took me awhile to warm up to the MC's. It drove me nuts that Alexis was a doormat and couldn't/wouldn't stand up for herself. She just made excuses and went with the flow. Damien was too soft for Don. I read Mafia books on the regular, as in one a day usually, and I like them gritty, angsty and dark. At one point of the book had my husband looking at me like I was crazy. I yelled out loud, "Kill him already!" and "God, he's such a pussy"! lol There is a scene where the MMC finds out he was betrayed by and knows the identity of person Damien was protecting, and is taunting him with the fact his house was stormed and she was taken. Most of the Don's in the books I read are ruthless when it comes to threats against their loved ones. They are brutal with protecting them, and the betrayer would of been killed on the spot. One obstacle taken care of, on to the next one. Maybe I'm just blood thirsty! lol

Slightly disappointing.
Ok, Ms. Williams is in the TOP 5 of my favorite authors, and I have read , liked, and loved numerous stories from her , but this one was just a no! Damien was a novice Don and came off as weak! Alexis was annoying and made no sense! Why would anyone return to the place where they were they being held captive. Yeah, it makes no sense. The choices and decisions Damien made were so illogical that a 7 year old would have known better. Lastly, the gig was up once we learned the background of Bobby Shield and Alexis. I'm just shocked at how this was written. Also, there are so many errors it seems like it came from someone else and not the Author's work I have come to know and love

synopsis spoiled this
On the whole this book was not too bad but I docked an extra star because of the synopsis. One it actually was not totally accurate - age gap, no real evidence of this in the book - and secondly pregnancy, well, this actually spoiled this for me as the pregnancy part actually doesn’t play a part in the storyline. The MFC does fall pregnant but not until about 70% into the book and the MMC doesn’t find out until 95% in. This said baby isn’t born until the epilogue ( which is extremely cringy). The synopsis lets this book down.

Damian is the head of the Lacopelli mafia and has enough fires brewing but when he saves Alexis he takes her not thinking anything of it. Alexis is not thrilled with her current situation after a life of foster care homes and abused she is not expecting Damian to treat her any differently. Damian finds his feeling for Alexis begin to grow and the feeling is mutual. With the chaos around Alexis becomes his calm but can he keep her protected from the threat swirling around them.
I really enjoyed this one a bit like a mafia version of Cinderella. Alexis is a strong woman, it takes her a bit to get her backbone in full gear but she does it. Damian is a complex character, had a little bit of everything I was looking for in this mafia romance.

could be a lot better. writing is rushed
The story is ok. The writer wrote everything like the reader can’t remember previous details. Constantly wasting time recapping and repeating previous situations and details that happened earlier. Some conflicts have too much character retrospection. Some conflicts are very abrupt and random. I get they wanted to make it action packed but there isnt any build up to a lot of things. Some parts of the book I could tell were last minute adds while other parts were edited hastily. This book has a lot of potential, the author is not a bad author. I believe this book was just heavily rushed and needs to be reassessed and then republished. This feels more like a 2nd revision than a polished final draft.

Savage Devotion was an absolute whirlwind! I was hooked from the start and couldn't put it down, finishing it in just around 7 hours. The plot twist really caught me off guard, which is always a win in my book. The mix of angst, intimacy, and romance was perfectly balanced, making it an emotional yet thrilling read. The Cinderella-like storyline, coupled with kidnapping, an age gap, and mafia elements, made it exactly the kind of book I was craving. I really enjoyed how Damian's character evolved throughout the story—his attitude change was done so well, adding depth to his character and keeping me invested. Overall, it's a fantastic read that ticked all the boxes for me. If you're into intense, passionate romance with a touch of suspense, this one's for you!

Review: Okay, so the series didn't get any better. This book was hard to continue reading and I started to skim read towards the end just to finish. The fact that the FMC put up with that crap for so long is just ridiculous. I mean, how dense was she? The FMC got on my nerves, why would you return to that place... why??? And the MMC took her out in public when he's supposed to be hiding her... like hello!!! (eye roll) You could tell early on who was the baddy, it was painfully obvious. There were a few good characters in this book but it was still a let down.
I made it to the end and unfortunately I won't be continuing on with this series.

This book was full of so many twists and turns and I loved it. The different plot twists weren't easy to predict but they did have a good amount of foreshadowing. I loved the couple as well as the other characters. I loved the sister and how even though she initially didn't like our FMC, she grew to really care about her. I loved our FMC because even though she has basically lost everything, she still has such a good heart. Our MMC is definitely a heartthrob and I love that he grew to be such a loving guy and was able to break down those barriers he had around him.

I have been waiting so long for this books release date and it did not disappoint. The suspense was enough to keep me reeled in and hooked I finished this in just a few hours it was so good I couldn’t put it down. You’ve got age gap mafia romance with surprise pregnancy all my favorite things. You could tell the MMC was held up at first because of his past but he loved the FMC so deeply you could feel it seeping through the pages just enough spice and boy was it spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️ I’m so looking forward to the next installment in the book series

This is a well written mafia romance with strong characters in Damian and Alexis. The author does a great job developing the story and paints her scenes perfectly. She takes you into their lives with suspense, danger and steam and kept me glued to the pages with all the twists, turns and intrigue. She moves the story fluidly and delivers an awesome read.
