Finding your mate is said to be the happiest moment of your life and for me it was. The man I grew up with and loved since I was a teenager turned out to be my mate. The next Alpha of the Black Rose Pack. What I didn't know is that he was torn between two loves. His heart did not just belong to me. When I find him in the throes of passion with his first love my heart shatters into a thousand pieces. His pleas for me to accept him despite the pain he caused me hurts more than seeing him sharing a bed with someone who was meant to protect me. How can I forgive him? How can I accept our bond and move forward with our lives knowing his heart doesn't completely belong to me. My life won't ever be the same.
This is two books in one. Book 1 is complete, and Book 2 is currently ongoing.
As far as rejected mate stories go, this one was pretty good. The plot was excellent, it's just that the execution wasn't as good as it could have been. "Rosie" is the daughter of the pack's beta. When she is 16, the Alpha's son, "Reese" realizes that she is his mate on his 18th birthday. There is a pretty big betrayal that has several layers that I was not expecting. Actually, there are multiple betrayals that will have you thinking "whoa . . . wtf did I just read?!"
There is a secondary story percolating around second chance mates that is also pretty good, but the main rejected mate story is definitely front and center. I do recommend the book on the merits of the plot.
