Let's Study Ephesians

Rate this book
If Romans is, humanly speaking, the most impressive of Paul's letters, then Ephesians is probably the most elegant. In its opening doxology blessings cascade down upon the reader. In its closing verses the smell of the battlefield lies heavily in the air and through the smoke of war we see Christians, fully clad in the armour of spiritual warfare, still standing. From beginning to end Ephesians sets before us the wonder of God's grace, the privilege of belonging to the church, and the pattern of life-transformation the gospel produces.

In Let's Study Ephesians Sinclair Ferguson skillfully leads us through this wonderful letter, explaining its teaching with masterful simplicity and showing its importance and relevance to the church today.

This is the second commentary I have read in the Banner's "Let's Study" series, and both have served their purpose well. This study of Ephesians is theological, pastoral, and designed for ordinary Christians. The chapters are brief, but Ferguson manages to cover a surprising amount of Biblical text with his efficient economy of words. Use this book for Bible studies, personal devotions and/or sermon preparation.

I loved reading this book alongside my Bible Study of Ephesians. I especially loved, "The Armour of God" and the "All Prayer" chapters. This was a very encouraging read. I highly recommend it.

As always Sinclair’s writing is wise and applicable. Written in a warm and grace-full tone yet deeply convicting of our need to follow Christ more closely.

We used this book for a Sunday School class, and the Elder who taught the class and I read through the book together. It's excellent, like all of the Let's Study... series from Banner of Truth; great for a group or individual study, a class, or just as a guide to Ephesians.

I went through this book with my pastor and I really enjoyed it! It really helped me understand. I highly recommend it to others who struggle with reading the Bible. I'm now starting Let's Study Hebrews...another book in this study series.

A solid brief study through the book of Ephesians. If you are wanting a super in depth look you need to pair this with a more scholarly commentary, but that is is no way a shot at Ferguson's study. He is still scholarly, but takes a more lay persons approach to his presentation. Great book!

This is a good and insightful little commentary that is accessible to laymen. Ferguson has a good grasp on the importance of union with Christ in the gospel message of Paul.

I very much enjoyed this commentary on the book of Ephesians. I used it to lead our men's study at the church. We did a six week study which was a bit rushed but manageable. I'd highly recommend this commentary for a good balance of intellectual study and practical application. Ferguson, like Paul, pulls no punches and you will finish this in awe of God's awesome power and convicted in many areas.
