If you support Derby County or have a love for English football during the 60's-80's then this is a must read.

An enjoyable book from a footballer intimately associated with Derby County.
The period of Roy McFarland’s time with Derby from 1967-1995 with a brief interval at Bradford City covers my early and growing years and a time I developed my love for the club.
It is interesting, therefore, to read the account of one who played such a pivotal role in the club.
The style of the book is light with events covered in a descriptive rather than in depth way.
Roy Mc obviously held and holds Brian Clough in great affection and perhaps a little too much of the book is taken up with direct quotes from the former manager of the Rams but there is an interesting chapter towards the end of the book where the author does describe a gathering at Clough’s house of ten close friends both former players and journalists that tried to intervene and convince Clough to change his behavior with regards to his drinking but to no avail.
Some of Roy Mc’s experiences as a manager seemed to be glossed over somewhat and there is a feeling of not wanting to divulge too much intimate detail at times, but for a fan of the Rams this is easy and engaging reading and brought back many memories of good and turbulent times both.
