Rate this book
In 1889 England, Eva Inman finds herself overwhelmed with responsibility. Haunted by guilt over her parents' deaths, Eva struggles to care for her blind sister and manage her family's crumbling estate. With the threat of overdue taxes looming, Eva's situation grows dire until an ancient silver ring is unearthed on her property. Despite local superstitions warning against disturbing the supposedly cursed acres, Eva's need for funds forces her to consider the potential of more buried relics. She turns to Bram Webb, a Cambridge professor of Roman antiquities, for help—only to be reminded of a past she would rather forget.

Bram Webb is under immense pressure to find proof of a legendary Christian Roman settlement in an attempt to conceal his uncle's deteriorating memory from the Trinity College disciplinary board and save both of their jobs. When Eva steps into Bram's office, old sparks fly, rekindling memories that are both fond and painful. The excavation is fraught with challenges from the start, and as Eva and Bram work together with time running out, they must confront their pasts, face the growing attraction between them, and decide whether their love is strong enough to overcome the buried truths that threaten to tear them apart.

Award-winning author Michelle Griep transports you to Victorian-era England with a gripping romance.

I hear voices. Loud. Incessant. And very real. Which basically gives me two options: choke back massive amounts of Prozac or write fiction. I chose the latter. Way cheaper. I've been writing since I discovered blank wall space and Crayolas. I seek to glorify God in all that I write...except for that graffiti phase I went through as a teenager. Oops. Did I say that out loud?

I loved this story! It is the second book in the series, but it works as a standalone. Eva needs money desperately for taxes. She also takes care of her blind 12 year old sister. The land they live on is said to be cursed but it is not really. When they find an old ring, they enlist the help of Professor Bram Webb and his Uncle to dig up the grounds to see if there are more relics. Bram and his Uncle need to find proof that the Holy Grail exists in order to not be punished by Trinity college. Bram and Eva knew each other when they were younger but did not part on the best of terms. Now they reconnect, and share their burdens and past guilts with each other, and grow in their relationship. I really loved watching their relationship blossom into love. I loved how they helped each other with their needs. There were some fun moments like the archery contest and the hot air balloon ride. I loved her sister and the Uncle. I did not expect that ending with the sister but glad everything worked out well. This story is also full of great Christian content. Overall a fantastic read and I definitely recommend!

Of Silver and Secrets is a wonderful romp in Victorian England in 1889. Eva Inman cares for her twelve-year-old sister, who is blind, while trying to maintain the crumbling estate she recently inherited after her father's passing. Her taxes are due, and she lacks the funds to pay them. When Roman ancient antiquities are found on her property, she seeks the help of her childhood friend, Professor Bram Webb. This book has suspense, mystery, and sweet romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to all historical fiction readers. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher, and this is my honest opinion.

Of Silver and Secrets is the followup to Of Gold and Shadows, a historical romance in which I took great delight when I read it last year. Time’s Lost Treasures is a loose series of standalones surrounding archaeology in the Victorian Era. This second installment is just as charming and wholesome and engaging as its predecessor.

Our two main characters are Eva Inman and Professor Bram Webb. When we meet Eva, she is trying desperately to keep herself and her blind younger sister, Penny, afloat in their run-down family estate. Their parents are gone, and so is the money that they need to keep the manor from falling down around them or being foreclosed on by the bank when they can’t pay their taxes. When a potential ancient artifact is discovered in the “cursed acre” Eva has decided to plant, she sees a potential escape from the poverty nipping at her heals. Enter Bram, who was one of Eva’s dearest childhood friends before he vanished without a word. Eva doesn’t trust Bram as far as she can throw him, but Bram has his own reasons for desperately needing to make a go of this archeological dig; if he can’t find proof of a lost refuge for ancient Roman Christians, he and his uncle will both lose their positions at Trinity College. Bram and Eva enter into an uneasy alliance. Will the bad luck dogging their endeavor pull them back to each other, or drive them further apart?

Bram was one of my favorite side characters in Of Gold and Shadows, so I was thrilled to read his story. I grew to adore him even more over the course of this novel. He’s everything I look for in a historical romance male lead. He’s brimming with personality and charm, but there’s a sweet sincerity to him that makes my heart melt. He’s not without his vices and failings, but he values his relationships with God and his family and the woman he loves enough to seek to overcome those issues. He’s incredibly supportive and would do anything necessary to protect the people in his life.

I grew to love Eva, as well, and I appreciated the way she struggled against blaming herself for every bad thing that befell herself and those she loves most. She has the weight of the world on her shoulders, and Bram does all he can to alleviate the strain. Not merely by helping her shoulder the load, but by showing her that God never intended for her to carry it in the first place. I enjoyed every minute of this second-chance romance, as well as the ways each sought to help the other see God in the midst of their struggles. Family secrets plague both parties, and they help each other shed light on those dark places. There’s a lot here about God redeeming the hurts of your past, and I thought the faith element was lovingly presented across the course of the novel.

Of Silver and Secrets was exactly the delightful, entertaining, heartfelt romance I’ve come to expect from Griep. Is it somewhat predictable? Yes. But it's the kind of book you want to be predictable. It's charming and cozy and sweet. A lovely comfort read of a novel.

✨Of Silver and Secrets by Michelle Griep - Book Review✨

This was such a sweet and fun story! My first Michelle Griep book did not disappoint, and now I want to read more of her writing.

The characters were likable, and though many of the plot twists were expected, that didn’t hinder my enjoyment while reading at all. The love story was wholesome and beautiful, too!

Overall, this book is perfect for those who love archaeology, history, intrigue, and romance.

A little note:
One side character dealt some shady business that broke my heart, but it was resolved at the end. Speaking of which, I’ve yet to read book 1, but if you have, expect Edmund & Ami to make an appearance ☺️

"Though truth might be absolute, discerning the right course of action when living that truth was often anything but obvious."

Michelle Griep has a talent for bringing the Victorian era to life vividly. I absolutely adored traveling to 1889 England with its passion for archeological digs and awakened sense of social justice amidst crumbling manors and restrictive world of academia. Eva was a wonder - a woman grown up too quickly with a world of responsibilities on her shoulders. Bram was completely and utterly delightful as a reformed bad boy, passionate about family and Roman antiquities, faithful, steadfast, and clever. Their conversations were truly gems strewn throughout the book. Eva's faith journey, encouraged and supported by Bram, was a beautiful unfolding of vulnerability and fears culminating in trust and obedience. Penny was a lovely secondary character and perhaps there will be a book about her someday when she's grown. I really enjoyed learning about the Roman Christians' settlement in England and the mystery and suspense wrapped around the dig site added depth to this historical romance.

Fans of historical romance, especially those set in Victorian England, look no further for your next book. Bram and Eva will captivate and dazzle you.

This. Dang. Book. Was. Incredible. There was a central plot, weaved into a tapestry of a few other side plots, and it all came together SO beautifully. I absolutely loved it.

And Eva and Bram??? The banter! The flirting! The romance! SWOON! I love them so much.

“God’s love and grace are constant whether we falter or not.”

From the moment I started reading Of Silver and Secrets, I knew it would become a favorite Michelle Griep novel for me. The first lines – “The end of Eva’s world started with a window she never should have left open. A small neglect, yet twelve years later, one that had culminated in a leaky roof, a ledger that refused to balance, and a blind sister. Not to mention her dead mother – for Eva wouldn’t.” – had me curling up into this story and immersing myself in the drama at Inman Manor, leaks and crumbling plaster and all. The richly-descriptive writing had me delighting in the reading experience overall, not just Griep’s talented story-spinning. She certainly knows how to weave an atmospheric and gripping tale though, too, and this one is expertly stitched with threads of romance, archaeology, mystery, and faith.

Eva Inman is a character you’ll instantly love and feel sorry for, her tragic losses and uncertain future plucking at my heart as though she were a dear friend I wanted to help. And she very quickly became that friend after getting to know her adoration of her blind twelve-year-old sister Penny, her worries and regrets, her deepest hopes, and her timid-but-resilient spirit. It’s perhaps that last trait that endeared her to me more than anything – specifically the way she faces her fears and finds the grace and strength she needs to do what needs to be done. Her childhood friend and first love Bram Webb, who barrels unexpectedly back into her life, is in some ways Eva’s opposite but yet they both harbor secret pain that unites them as adults, the emotional connection and mutually-granted trust deepening their long-ago friendship into something more.

Oh, Bram is a charmer and I daresay he has a bit of a rogue in him… but he’s such a genuinely good guy in every way. The loving way he protects his uncle – and then Eva and Penny – won my loyalty right from the start, and I happily cheered him on in his career endeavors and his pursuits of the heart. I so wanted him to succeed, both in the archaeological dig and in his relationship with Eva, and I’m not gonna lie – there were a few moments where I wasn’t sure either would happen the way I hoped. But, without giving anything away, let me say that Griep tied everything up in such satisfying ways that not only soothed my nervous reader-heart but also pointed us back to the God who has been there all along. Even when we feel He has abandoned us, He is working all things – not just the pleasant parts of life – together for our good.

“…a good reminder that even in the midst of hardship, there was always the possibility of finding solace and purpose in unexpected places, and most importantly, that God did not abandon one even in difficult times.”

Bottom Line: I relished every delightful word that wove Of Silver and Secrets by Michelle Griep into an entertaining story and a world I didn’t want to leave. Phrases like “… a well-upholstered brute with jowls like mounds of mashed potatoes” put a grin on my face and a mental picture in my mind, and one twist in particular left my jaw dropped. I enjoyed tagging along on Bram and his uncle’s search for the elusive Roman refuge for persecuted Christians, especially as it was (quite literally) taking place right in Eva’s backyard. The setting, of course, providing plenty of delicious opportunities for a sweet love story to emerge from the ashes of Eva and Bram’s guarded hearts, and let me assure you that it provides plenty of opportunities for swoony tension too. Those almost-kisses… whew! I was holding my breath at the tenderness and longing swirling between them. And what fabulous characters Bram and Eva are – layered and likable and easy to root for them to overcome the obstacles in their paths. Fans of Victorian romance, Indiana Jones, fun banter, surprising twists, and Kimberley Woodhouse’s Treasures of the Earth series will love Of Silver and Secrets by Michelle Griep too!

With its autumnal ambience and anglophile sensibilities, "Of Silver and Secrets" by Michelle Griep reads like a cuppa chai brewed in a Wedgewood teapot.

Set in the Victorian Era, this novel features dark academia vibes, a Guy Fawkes Day festival, blind representation, Dickensian panache, a second chance / childhood friends-to-more romance, and an archeological dig in the English countryside for Roman antiquities.

If you fancy a story that blends history with a dash of mystery, let Michelle Griep tell you a tale Of Silver and Secrets!

When the weight of the past presses in, can grace still rise?

Of Silver and Secrets pulled me into a world where ancient silver glints with promise, where secrets feel heavy as stone, and where God’s steady hand is the only compass worth trusting. In 1889 England, Eva and Bram’s story feels like a prayer answered slowly—a journey through guilt, wonder, and the quiet faith that holds everything together.

“God, I need answers… Jesus alone is our anchor.” Isn’t that the heart of every question we bring to God—Can grace really cover the ruins of my past? Will He see me even here? In these pages, I was reminded that His fingerprints never fade, even when life feels beyond repair. The shimmer of silver can’t outshine the quiet treasure of a soul held in His care.

Bram’s unwavering faith in the face of loss and Eva’s courage to see beyond fear spoke to me in such a gentle, powerful way. There’s something about Michelle Griep’s writing that beautifully entertains and tenderly invites you to breathe deeper and remember that no secret—whether spoken aloud or whispered only to ourselves—is too heavy for grace, and no heartbreak is beyond His care.

In the end, Of Silver and Secrets is a love story—yes, between a man and a woman, but even more so between a searching soul and the one and only sovereign God. It’s a story for those of us who need the reminder that faith, even in the smallest choices, can turn buried fears into the brightest kind of treasure.

Read it, savor it, and let it remind you that no secret is too heavy for grace.

When I dive into a new Michelle Griep book I know I am guaranteed to love every second. I know I can also expect a solid seam of faith to bring everything together. Of Silver and Secrets delivered on those two things in even more than I had hoped.
I absolutely adored Bram in Of Gold and Shadows and was so excited when I found out he was getting his own book. And boy did his book deliver!
The relationship between Bram and Eva was so sweet. I love how their pasts were a sort of reflection of each other's in how they learned of God's sovereignty even though they had very different upbringings. They challenged each other and selflessly cared for one another throughout the story.
The dark moment was gut wrenching and had so many threads that were tangled. This was definitely one of those books where you thought the happily ever after was impossible. Instead the happily ever after was delivered unexpectedly and beautifully.

I enjoyed this one even more than book one! The characters were such a delight! Penny and Uncle Pendleton add whimsy to their interactions with Eva and Bram and there is some camaraderie there too, from their history.

There weren’t many surprises in the story (things are pretty obvious for the most part) but I didn’t feel like that detracted from what was a lovely story. And there are one or two surprises so don’t worry!!

While archeology is a minor backdrop, it was a neat element! And there is a fun cameo of some characters from another book ;) I’d say the main takeaway for the reader and the characters is trust in God’s timing. Not easy to do for us humans!

It is no secret that I am fascinated by historical artifacts and Of Silver and Secrets fed my love of history. Ms. Griep really put Eva and Bram in dire circumstances and did not shy away from putting obstacles in their way, whether it was evil people or a snowstorm. But there is hope within the pages and devotion to God is shown with right ultimately winning over machinations.
The characters are well depicted as flawed but striving for good. The descriptions put me right in the story. Along with the obvious draw of finding ancient relics, I was pleased by the love Eva and Bram had for books. And blind sister Penny was a force to be reckoned with despite her visual impairment. The author portrayed Eva as facing poverty but doing all she could to remedy the situation. The romance was a second chance story of meeting years later when Eva and Bram had matured and each has refined their faith, realizing: “God’s love and grace are constant whether we falter or not.”
Another wonderful historical offering by a favorite author.

Michelle is excellent at weaving a historical mystery that is hard to put down and this was definitely one of those. Michelle is always amazing and this book didn't disappoint! From a local bad boy trying to find his place and belonging in the world to a young girl who loses her mother and father too early.

When they meet again later, she's about to lose the house and her sister and he is an established professor trying to keep his uncle in line to keep his job.

I love the slow burn second chance romance 😍😭🥰 so well done and made me lol a lot. a sweet tender read about family love, forgiveness and following your dreams. Very well done

1889 England

This is such a lovely series.

In Of Silver and Secrets, Eva is struggling to hold on to her family home after the death of her parents. She is raising her tween sister Penny who is intelligent and spunky. Eva holds herself to a higher degree of care due to her father's dying wishes and Penny's lack of sight. Eva is hopeful that buried relics found on her property will be the answer to her prayers.

“Why should you trust me? Because, Eva Inman, though you’ll never admit it, you were once in love with me, and I suspect, deep down, you may still be.”

A fantastic story of wonderful characters, a little danger and suspense , loads of mystery and faith, and a beautiful romance.

Eva is determined and kind, loves fiercely, and struggles with the secrets of her past. I absolutely adored how Bram encouraged and supported Eva in her spiritual journey. Bram! I love a reformed bad boy. His loyalty to his Uncle, commitment to the archaeological dig, kindness and attentiveness to Penny, and devotion and love for Eva all made for a wonderful MMC. I loved when Eva and Bram shared their secrets with one another. 🫠

I found the information shared about the ancient Roman settlement in England very interesting. I enjoyed the small glimpses of the finds from the dig site.

What a treat to see Ami and Edmund again!!

A few more quotes:
“We all have our moments of fear and doubt, Eva. It is part of being human. But I promise you, God’s love and grace are constant whether we falter or not.”

“Flattery will get you everywhere, Miss Inman.” “It is not flattery if it is the truth.” “In that case, then, you are doing an excellent job of it.”

From the very first page, I happily sank into the familiar comforts of a skillfully spun story by Ms. Griep with a contented smile on my face. It is filled with her trademark historical detail woven throughout a story filled with humor and wit, and a compelling faith thread that is relevant to real life. Of Silver and Secrets has it all: a delightful second chance romance, an archeological dig, and a crumbling estate filled with secrets.

While Eva is struggling to retain her family estate, the thought of hidden treasure is irresistible. When a friend from her past comes to head the archaeological dig, Eva has to put aside past hurts as she helps to make the dig a success. Bram challenges her to face the secrets of her own past, releasing past guilt and pain to rely upon God as her anchor, the One who works in mysterious ways. Just when I thought the story was wrapping up nicely, an unexpected twist turned everything on end, as Eva and Bram join forces to right wrongs.

With a couple of secondary characters readers will love and others they will love to hate, they will find this is a story sure to entertain from the beginning to the end!

Thoroughly enjoyed this story! Michelle Griep is a gifted author. Great faith content. From having read many of her books I sense she’s a Dickens fan and I felt she paid a little homage to him in this book with some character names and a very sad reality of his own life playing into the plot. Great read!

Think of Indiana Jones determined that there’s lost antiquities that could shed more light on a missing civilization. Bram’s older uncle is also a professor and has started showing signs of memory loss. Bram puts their jobs on the line about the missing artifacts. He doesn’t know where or how, but he must succeed.

Eva’s house is crumbling down and just learns her tax amount has increased. She needs a full on miracle to save them. She feels like God’s left her just like everyone else. Her parents, Bram and more.

I really enjoyed this book with the dig, Guy Fawkes night, and kne cabin. I had a few things figured out but didn’t foresee a lot of the ending elements.

Faith is sprinkled throughout and an overall message of keep enduring, love and support those around you and know that you’re not alone or abandoned.

“The end of Eva’s world started with a window she never should have left open.”

Whew! What a gripping, suck-you-in-like-a-whirlpool opening sentence!Michelle Griep pens this Victorian romance with such beautiful, flowing artistry that I often had to stop and reread a sentence or a whole paragraph. Just for the beauty of the construction. So I’m in love with the writing style.

And the characters. A young lady, Eva Inman, who is convinced her mistake twelve years earlier caused her mother’s death, her sister’s blindness, and their now-fatherless estate to be in extreme need of funds. The corresponding male main character, Professor Bram Webb, who knew Eva in childhood, now returns to create an archaeological dig on her estate lands. ( Webb must prove an ancient Christian civilization, hiding from Roman tyranny, existed on Inman land.) Eva doesn’t know if she’s attracted to the man from her past or if she despises Bram, the man she considers “the first in a string of people to leave her.”

In some ways, there are elements that give the novel the feel of a certain well-known fictional archaeological character. Fun. Yet, Bram’s reason for joining his uncle Pendleton on the dig are very self-sacrificing. I cannot imagine the fortitude Bram shows as he supports his history prof. uncle. I would have been explaining myself by this point. Eva doesn't trust Bram becsuse of their childhood connection, but she fails to understand that Bram has undergone a transformation. Indeed, Bram has many enemies and people he would seem justified to hold a grudge against, but, instead of taking vengeance, he explains to Eva. “Perhaps his conscience is buried beneath layers of deceit and bitterness, yet it is not beyond redemption. Harsh words and flying fists will not change his heart. Only God can do that.” How he moves from ready-to-fight anger to a willingness to hand his enenmy over to God speaks so much for his character!

A great supporting character is Penny, Eva’s outgoing, curious, and unafraid blind sister. Penny is 13 going on 30. How will Eva ever keep her charge safe?

Twists! This novel has some truly great ones. My eyes widened as I read many times, surprised at how each successive obstacle worked out!

Stars and thunder!! I was unhappy when I finished the book! I loved Of Silver and Shadows so much, with its many themes, truth nuggets, amazing romance and twists. I just didn’t want it to end!! My definition of a perfect book!

I received a copy of the book from the author and publisher and NetGalley. I also bought my own copy. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.

Notable Quotables:

“…though truth might be absolute, discerning the right course of action when living that truth was often anything but obvious.”

“It is easy to judge from the outside, but we can never truly understand the burdens others carry or the choices they feel forced to make. We are all fallen creatures.”

“Love is a gift, worth risking everything for… let nothing stand in your way.”

“The very first time you asked to be pardoned, you were. That is what grace is all about. “

“We are all tethered to something…When that tether snaps, as it is wont to do, this is when we realize the true extent of our faith.”

I loved this book! I had very high expectations because of how much I adored the first book in the series. I'm happy to say that this book exceeded all my expectations.

After her father’s death, Eva is struggling and overwhelmed as she tries to take care of the family’s estate and her younger sister. The financial situation is looking dire, and she’s getting anxious for a solution.

With his uncle’s job on the line, Bram is on a mission to help him find proof of a lost refuge for Christians who were persecuted by the Roman Empire. Could Eva’s land hold the key?

This book is full of so many wonderful and likeable characters. Eva had a lot on her plate, but I loved her determination and strength. I also loved the bond that she had with her sister Penny. Penny was so resilient and such a bright light.

It was easy to fall for Bram. He was quite the charmer but had a good heart. I loved his uncle and how he looked out for him.

Archaeology has always fascinated me, so I really enjoyed that aspect of this book. I also really enjoyed the Victorian setting. That’s one of my favorite time periods.

I was fully engaged with the story from beginning to end. I loved it! I highly recommend it to fans of sweet and intriguing historical romances.

I received a copy of this via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

I loved this captivating story!! Of Silver and Secrets is an excellent historical fiction tale by Michelle Griep! It has it all; a crumbling estate, an archeological dig, an old friend who has grown up, and a page-turning mystery with adventure, intrigue, and romance. From the first line "The end of Eva's world started with a window she never should have left open" to the last line, I thoroughly enjoyed Eva's journey to save her family estate, care for her blind sister Penny, and her household, while trying to outrun painful memories. Enter her old friend, now Cambridge professor, Bram Webb who comes to work on excavating a portion of her land after she found a very old ring buried there. As historians, and archeologists, the possibility that this could be the site of an early roman Christian settlement in England sends Bram & his uncle & a crew to work on Eva's estate. Bram has grown into a man of integrity, has grown in his faith, cares about his aging uncle, and is trying to save both their jobs. He is also trying to outrun his upbringing.

I highly recommend this well told story. I could not put it down. And plot twists, I didn't see coming are the best!

Thank you to the author, and Bethany House for allowing me to read an early copy, all opinions are my own.

Of Silver and Secrets transported me to 1889 England. Eva, the owner of Inman Manor, along with her blind sister, Penny, gets re-acquainted with Eva's childhood friend, Bram, and his quirky and forgetful uncle. Bram is in charge of the archeological dig site on Inman Manor. The story has a lot of intrigue, suspense, villains, twists, and turns. I love stories that include archaeological sites, so this was a plus.

The author combines historical details and fiction woven at its finest. The story is filled with moments of sadness, fear, faith, and extreme joy, as I turned the pages, not knowing what to expect next. A twist in the story brought me to tears, while the ending was inspirational, filled with faith, and a beautiful romance.

I read the book in one sitting and hated for it to end. It left a lasting impression on me. Highly recommended.

I love a good read with digs of archaeology and this one is excellent! Great characters that melt my heart, especially Penny. I love her and her spunk! Childhood friends are destined for true love if they can just get past all the trials of life. This is a highly entertaining read that kept me glued to the pages. If not for the growing romance but the dig and what would be found. A fantastic ending, one I didn't see coming, but fantastic! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Michelle Griep is a master of words, stringing them together to make an artful story. Of Silver and Secrets, the second book in her Time’s Lost Treasures series, is just another example of her brilliance. Archeology, mystery, skullduggery, romance, deception are among the themes in this book. I found myself angry and then woefully sad and happy the next. Emotions ran high in this beautiful tale with focus on God’s love. Loved it!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

[Thank you to @netgally and to Bethany House Publishers for my gifted copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.]

Set in 1889 England, Of Silver and Secrets follows Eva Inman and Bram Web. Eva is struggling to hold onto her family’s home and take care of her sister who is blind. Bram is a professor and archeologist working to prove the existence of an ancient Roman Christian settlement and save he and his uncle’s careers. Eva and Bram have some past history together, but do they have a future?

I really enjoyed the first book of this series, Of Gold and Shadows, so I was really excited at the opportunity to read Of Silver and Secrets!

I enjoyed this second book just as much as the first and would recommend reading the first book first, though this second book could absolutely be read as a stand-alone. We do meet the characters from Of Gold and Shadows again but only briefly, and I wouldn’t say that there are any spoilers in that meeting.

Read this for:

-Christian faith themes
-Mystery
-Clean romance
-Victoria era England
-Archeology
-Plot twists
-Second-chance romance

Definitely recommend!

Once again I was swept away by Griep's storytelling. Her writing style just makes the setting come alive so vividly in my mind and I truly feel as if I am part of the story. Bram and Eva were perfectly paired - not just for romance but for history, conversation, and so much more. You cannot help but fall in love with their stories - but as individuals and as a couple.

The thing that gets me most is how much history I find myself fascinated by when I'm reading something from Griep. She always includes these pockets of information that I never thought of, dreamed of, but oh do I want so much more of! And please oh please can I go on an archeological dig. Or watch one, because let's be real - I would not be able to shovel for an extended period of time lol. Truly, Griep brings what most think of as boring, and turns it into exciting, dangerous, and adventurous.

Of Silver and Secrets is a delightful addition to Time's Lost Treasures series and I cannot wait to see what's next. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

How I enjoyed these characters and their surprising adventures. The storyline had me turning pages quickly and led to more than one discovery. Griep has a way of setting that Victorian atmosphere and I can’t get enough of it. She truly does her research and it showed. I especially appreciated that these flawed characters had to honestly face questions of faith which led to lessons that you don’t want to miss as second chances abound. Oh, and the romance was fun too! I’m already looking forward to her next book. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions are my own.
