Rate this book
An influx of new family members. A series of death threats. Can our psychic sleuth find the culprit before her cousin ends up in a coffin?

Alara Beatty, dog mom and novice psychic, is already exhausted by her biological family and she hasn't even met most of them yet. Before she can even begin to process their antics, her mother shows up uninvited.

Mother dearest has brought Alara's grumpy uncle and happy-go-lucky cousin too. They've only been in town long enough to dip their toes in the hard desert sand when a death threat aimed at Alara's new cousin appears. He begs her to use her psychic powers to find the culprit before they act on the threat and put him six feet below the desert. Still anxious about using her abilities, Alara is hesitant, but when family secrets are exposed just as more threats emerge, Alara can't afford to stand aside.

Can Alara find the perpetrator in time to save the only new family member she actually likes?

If you like amateur sleuths, humorous adventures, and charming canine companions, then you'll love Elle Wren Burke's mystical mystery.

Alara Beatty recently had her life turned upside down. She met her biological Aunt Irene for the first time and found out she comes from a family of psychics. Alara is able to use her talents to solve a friend’s murder, but was almost killed in the process and is still recovering from that trauma. Now, more members of her biological family are visiting her hometown of Prickly Pear, Arizona to meet her and Alara is nervous. She instantly connects with her cousin Tood and is soon mixed up in more danger when someone starts sending Todd death threats.

Tea & Talismans is the second book in the Prickly Pear Psychic Mystery Series, but also works well as a standalone. This is a charming series, and Alara is a sweet, appealing main character. There is a good mixture of scenes with Alara and her family, Alara learning about her psychic abilities, and also working with Todd to find out who is threatening him. I really like the way Alara and her Aunt Irene are bonding and enjoyed Alara’s scenes with Todd and the way she defends him to her newfound family. Todd isn’t perfect, but is very likable, and I would love to see more of him in future books. I also love the potential romance between Alara and Rudi. I hope things work out for them, in spite of the reservations that Alara’s best friend (who happens to be Rudi’s older sister) has about the two of them becoming a couple.

I enjoyed seeing Alara use both logic and her psychic abilities to help find out who was out to get her cousin. Alara figured out a possible motive, but the situation was more complicated and more dangerous that she could have ever imagined. I love that the author was able to create such an intriguing, fast-paced mystery without a murder being part of the plot. I like how things ended and although things are resolved in the case, there are a few things up in the air in Alara’s personal life. I’m really looking forward to the third book in the series coming out so I can find out what happens next! (4.5 stars)

A copy of this book was provided to me by the author at no cost, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.

HOLY HEDGEHOGS!! Another Fantastic Installment of the Prickly Pear Psychic Mysteries by Elle Wren Burke. I received this copy as an eArc and am immensely grateful to the author for providing the copy for my enjoyment. I will be purchasing a physical copy for my shelves immediately I loved it so much I read the book in less than a day.

In Tea and Talismans we follow Alara, Irene and a few members of Alara’s biological family members that descend on the town of Prickly Pear and right into Alara’s life. As Alara is getting used to her newfound family whilst juggling her friendships and adoptive family she is once again thrust into her psychic sleuthing when a family member receives a death threat. Alara takes charge of the investigation with the help of her psychic family and friends.

I love the found family aspect in the novel as well as the melding of families. It was a great aspect that everyone was able to rally together and assist Alara in the mystery of who it was that was threatening her family member. I love the quirkiness of all the characters and even the slight blooming romance that was present in this novel ❤️. Again I found myself laughing out loud with all the descriptive writing when it comes to Alara’s exclamations and the way she speaks. The characters in the book are rather entertaining. Another great paranormal cozy mystery, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

An exciting mystery intertwined with Alara trying to build a relationship with her new found birth family.
After finishing the first book in the series, I was eager to learn about Alara's long lost family. I was not disappointed at all. Like all family, hers came with baggage, drama, and love, so it was fun to get to discover those relationships alongside Alara.
And of course, it wouldn't be a good Cozy Mystery without the 'Mystery'. The mystery in this book was intriguing and kept me guessing right up until the very end.
But honestly the real stars of the book are the two adorable dogs that are just so dang adorable. Don't worry, they are in this book and even more fun to read about than before.
I did receive an advanced copy of this book for free but this review is unsolicited.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

This is a fun cozy filled with lots of magic and charm. We follow Alara as she continues to discover who she really is after all she learned in book one. This is challenging enough but then family flocks in to see how much power she has. On top of that her cousin is getting credible death threats that must be investigated. The mystery combines with the magic and family drama to create a fun read that you won't be able to put down. A must read for fans of the genre. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

This is a great book, I really enjoyed it! Alara is learning how to use her psychic abilities and meeting her bio family. Her cousin gets a death threat, and only Alara believes him, so she sets out to solve the mystery. I love all the characters, her family makes the book even better! A fun read, I can’t wait for the next book!

Alara, who was adopted at birth, is finally meeting her birth mother and some other relatives. She really likes Cousin Todd, but not so much Uncle Bertram. Someone is sending death threats to Todd. Could be his ex, or one of the people who bought one of his bogus talismans? Alara, with the help of the powerful psychics in her newfound family and her dog Blueberry, is determined to find out.

This author once again knocked it out of the park! I received and advanced copy from the author. I loved learning more about Alara’s biological family in this one and seeing Alara’s and Rudi’s romance evolve. The author does such a good job of using levity to cut through serious themes. It ends on a sweet and kinda hilarious cliffhanger. Read this now!

I’m so glad I found some time to read this book, but also bummed it took me so long because it was so good. Alara is such a fun and intriguing character and the facts emerging in the series definitely have me hooked. And that ending, yes! I can’t wait to read the next one.

**Side note- I’m a sucker for any book series that gives me recipes. It’s an author detail that really helps you emerge yourself in the world with the character.

Tea and Talismans is the second book in the Prickly Pear Psychic mystery series by Elle Wren Burke. I didn't read the first in the series, but I don't think you have to, the author did a good job of explaining a bit of our main character's backstory. Alara is going to meet some of her biological family members, who are traveling to her hometown of Prickly Pear, Arizona. Once her family members arrive, we jump right into the mystery of the story.

I enjoyed reading about Alara's psychic abilities. She has experienced these abilities since she was a young child. In the previous book in the series, Mediums and Murder, Alara, along with the help of her aunt Irene, solved a case of a murdered friend. Tea and Talismans takes place shortly after, with Alara getting more comfortable and confident with her abilities. Most of Alara's new family members are nice and supportive of her, they are also psychics. When the mystery in the book evolves, Alara gets help from her new family and her long-time friend Rudi, who is a police officer.

Alara is super sweet, loves her adoptive parents, and has a close group of friends. Something that I found a bit different is that Alara doesn't curse. She certainly does find herself in situations that are stressing, but she choses other words to express her feelings. And she comes up with some creative language! I was hoping to at least get a "darn" or "shoot" from her, but it didn't happen.

Tea and Talismans will be out this December 2021!

good

Picking up from where book one left off, we find Alara having to deal with the influx into Prickly Pear, of her newly discovered relatives.
With several of her relatives near, including her birth mother, she is able to learn a lot about her family, and about the abilities that unite them, and when her cousin Todd ends up being threatened, Alara steps in to help him investigate.

This is a sweet, cosy mystery series, with a likeable heroine and an entertaining cast of characters (although I think Blueberry was the star of this book). The small town, desert setting just adds to the coziness, while the paranormal touch is light and not too over the top.
Alara has a sweet, slow burning romantic interest in the form of her best friend’s younger brother, Rudi, who just so happens to be supportive, and ready to help… Even when Ori isn’t so approving of them together (fortunately her husband Beau, Alara’s other best friend isn’t quite so negative).
It’s a quick read, relatively fast paced, and the stakes don’t tend to run too tense- which makes this an excellent read for cosying up and escaping into for a while.
The series does have an overarching storyline, so are definitely best read in order for maximum enjoyment, and I think paranormal cosy mystery lovers will definitely enjoy this read.

Who is After Cousin Todd ? . . .

Alara Beatty was adopted into a wonderful family. As a child, she developed early psychic powers which she suppressed. Her birth family begins to make contact as her Aunt Irene had told her the family members are psychics and now they are coming to Prickly Pear, Arizona, to meet her. Her cousin Todd received a death threat taped to the door handle, which the others didn’t believe and thought he was doing it himself for attention. But Alara believes him and needs to explore more of her abilities to protect Todd. She also needs to determine who she can trust. Will they find out who is after Todd and why?

I love cozy mysteries and look forward to the rest of the series. I enjoy the influx of family members and seeing their interactions. We also have the pleasure of watching Alara’s powers develop as she grows into her psychic gifts. Grab your copy and meet the folks from home! And find out why Todd is being threatened.

Alara was adopted as a baby by a wonderful, loving couple, but at an early age, she began developing psychic powers. Her adoptive parents were supportive and helped her the best they could. Now Alara is meeting her birth mother and a few family members...an aunt she likes, a cousin who is very limited psychically, and an uncle who seems to dislike her before he even meets her. Todd, the cousin, is a magnet for trouble and he is targeted for death now. Alara must learn to use more of her abilities to be able to help Todd.
I enjoyed this paranormal cozy mystery and the characters. Alara has a wonderful network of family and friends and is about to open up to more of them about her abilities. The mystery was well-written and I plan on going back to read the first in this series.

I spent a really enjoyable few hours reading this, the second instalment in the Prickly Pear Psychic Mysteries series. Alara knew she was adopted and was excited to be meeting her birth mother, along with a couple of other relatives. She’s also a psychic, and her abilities are starting to sharpen.

I hadn’t read the first in this series (but I will), but it’s a stand-alone read. It’s very family orientated, which is lovely, and introduces some interesting characters who will hopefully develop in book 3. The writing flows nicely, enough intrigue to keep you interested and the psychic details are fascinating. If I had any criticism, it would be that Alara is almost too good to eat true. However, it didn’t stop me really enjoying this book.

Thanks to BookSirens and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I love this book just like book one. Like I said in my review for book one I get ghost whisper vibes. I love this book. I wasn’t disappointed at all. There are new characters introduced in this book. One I would like to yell at and even slap couple of times. For treating Alara like she is criminal. I do love the relationship with Alara and her adopted parents very cute. And who couldn’t mention the dogs. I am a dog person and I am glad that the author added animals (dogs) to these two books. So I hope we get more doggy time.
I highly recommend this book and book One.

Tea & Talismans is the 2nd book in the Prickly Pear Psychic Mysteries series by Elle Wren Burke.

Alara Beatty has psychic abilities that manifested as a child. She was given up for adoption as a baby and recently met her biological family. Her biological family come to town to evaluate her abilities.

I was concerned that it was going to be a problem that I hadn’t read the first book in the series because there were a lot of references to it at the beginning. Things were explained and it wasn’t an issue.

Alara has a wonderful support network. The blushing around Rudi seemed a bit excessive, but other than that, I liked her. It is a really interesting premise for a series and the ending has me anxiously waiting for the next book!

Thank you to the BookSirens and author for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Alara seems to be facing more than one mystery. Her mutual feelings Rudi loom big - police officer younger brother to her bestie - is he more than a friend? might her internal conflicts and her bestie be bigger hurdles than any other to a future for them?

her biological family arrives, along with a visit from the family who raised her.

secrets, trusts, lies, deceptions, half truths and revealations abound, woven with dangers.

an intriguing series- can hardly wait to read what happens next!

Alara’s got a lot going on in her life. She has a newfound psychic ability and a slew of new family members she’s just discovered. Then one of them receives a death threat! Can Alara’s psychic ability help them discover the source of the threat or will the threat turn into a reality?

This book is a fun paranormal cozy. The mystery is unique and engaging and the characters are quirky and likeable. The prose is easy to read, making this a great book to relax with!

I hadn’t read the first book in the series, but didn’t have any trouble jumping in at Book 2. All in all, I’d recommend the book for a fun, easy read!

A very worthy sequel, full of interesting characters and a twisty mystery!

I loved getting a better understanding of Alara's family (and her relationship with a certain someone!). It's great to see her support network in action, and to learn some answers about her past! And I have to be honest, I was totally rooting for Todd too--despite his mishaps, he's a very endearing character.

From start to finish, this story was relatable, intriguing, and fun! I'm already looking forward to the next one. :)

Good Mystery

This second book in the series flowed better and the discussions between the characters felt more natural. The mystery was good, but I wish the open issue with Natalie had been taken care of in this book. The pace of the story was ok. I prefer a faster paced book with a lot more happening. I think this will come in time as the author only has a handful of published books so far. The best part Of the book is the mystery, which is interesting and have some action associated with it. Thankfully the heroine did not cry as much in this book!

Book 2 of the Prickly Pear Psychic Mysteries starts off where book 1 left off and finds Alara meeting her biological mother and cousin Ted who has received a death threat. Alara can think of no better way to practice her psychic abilities with her family than trying to find out who is threatening Ted. There is also Alara’s budding relationship with her longtime friend and police officer, Rudi who is always ready to lend a hand and maybe his heart. I really like them as a couple and I look forward to the next book in this series.

Two Mothers, Two Dogs and a Maybe Boyfriend

Alara is learning more about her background every day...Some tense moments between her adopted mother and her birth mother, a growing romance with her best friend's brother a vindictive potential killer and her protective dogs. Characters with personality so strong they can overcome others with psychic energy. Can't say I'm a fan of slobbering dogs, so I just skip those pages. Apparently, I'm not a dog person. Otherwise, a great read. Enjoy!

I fell in love with Elle Wren Burke's plot, characters and writing style while reading her first novel,
Mediums & Murder.

I just completed her second book of the series, Tea & Talismans. I totally enjoyed the story line and being introduced to more of Alara's family and their adventures. Was also happy that the relationship between Alara and Rudi Rivera continues.

If you are like me, be prepared for some sleepless nights as I found it hard to put the book down!

I really enjoyed this clean paranormal romantic mystery. It is difficult to find an author that writes so well that they don’t need to add other lackluster descriptive language to portray meaning in their writing. This is a very talented and wonderfully humorous writer that keeps you turning page after page! I look forward to reading the next paranormal adventure with Ara!!

Do You See What She Sees?

Alura’s birth family, the Catherwoods, are in town to evaluate her. If that’s not enough, her adopted parents decided to come to town as well. Someone is trying to kill her cousin, Todd Catherwood, can Alura find the killer first? A very enjoyable read.

While this was a very enjoyable read, the author consistently confused the words yeah and yea. She kept using yea, when she meant yeah. A good proofer might help.

I liked this book, it is fun, informative, and the characters, all of them, are interesting. The plot is easily followed, and the premise is stopping the harassment of one of her newly found cousins. The person was hurting and definitely wanted to hurt her cousin, Todd. I do recommend this book.
