Sometimes, the best choice might be the one that leaves you vulnerable. The one that forces you to face a past that hurts or go through with something you never thought would come to fruition. The one that makes taking a risk your only option.
Wilhelmina "Wil" Cunningham is no stranger to pressure. The child of an Olympian and a boxer, and a former Olympian herself, Wil has gained an "America’s sweetheart" reputation—a high pedestal to fall from when her world gets rocked by betrayal and deceit.
Not long ago, Ramsey Bishop dominated the field as one of the best running backs the league had ever seen. Personal tragedy drew him away, but he made a promise he can't take back. Keeping that promise though . . . easier said than done.
But Wil believes he can. And Ramsey believes Wil can bounce back from the misfortunes that have the potential to destroy her. Their supportive, motivational back and forth is just one element of what has grown into a friendship. But could it be more?
Wil and Ramsey have enough stress on their hands, but they'll have to make a choice—continue their friendship, or risk it all for the possibility of something amazing?
Ramsey? He’s a good man Savannah!!! When Ramsey prayed for Wil, that solidified everything for me and this may be one of my favorite love stories from the CCJ universe. The chemistry and connection between Ramsey and Wil had me smiling to myself so giddy and excited for them like they were my friends in real life. Initially when I started listening to this audiobook I thought they should have had someone else narrate for Wil but there was such a sweetness in the narrators voice that perfectly fit Wil’s character. Before it was mentioned in the book I thought, Wil deserves the Hammer from Ramsey, she deserved those orgasms, and she deserved the happily ever after ending. This was one of the best written friends to lovers stories and a great build up on the relationship. And I can’t lie I shed a few tears in this story that’s how well she builds character and emotions. Of course, CCJ does the best job at intertwining our favorite characters and subtlety adding to their stories providing us with updates like Cole and JJ, giving us background on Chloe’s character, circling back on details about WAWG, guest appearances/mentions of staple CCJ Universe characters like Braxton, Nash, Nubia and Tariq, Arnez and Arizona commentary, and etc. This entire story gets a chefs kiss!
Friends to lovers at its finest. I loved the characters, the chemistry, and the banter. The slow burn lasted a little longer than the needed given the sexual tension, imo. This relationship was built on a beautiful friendship, bonded in honesty, and forged in divine timing.
The narrators were fantastic. Their performances conveyed the intense emotion and passion in the story.
