Of Oceans and Broken Princes

Rate this book
Naria never expected her faery bond with Prince Arenn to cut so deeply. Plagued by dangerous nightmares and unwanted fantasies of her vicious faery prince, she stays hidden within the walls of King Lukas’s palace. But his palace can’t protect her forever – and neither can Lukas.

Especially not while he refuses to accept the divine power buried within him.

To save her growing kingdom, Naria ventures to the sun-kissed shores of Ryntook. But soon, merfolk emerge from the corals desperate to take Lukas with them, and when Prince Arenn finds her on a starlit beach, he vows to claim her for himself – by any means necessary.

Caught between an obsessive faery prince and a deadly merfolk king, Naria must will she give in to Prince Arenn’s twisted desires, or sink into the vast ocean of King Lukas’s heart?

An ocean dangerous enough to drown them both…

I am obsessed with these books!! They were both so good!! They are easy reads but also so much back and forth to keep it really enjoyable. I'm so bummed to be done with them. It is all I could think about the last week. I hope you guys enjoy them as much as I did now hurry up and read them. 😉

I thought it was a great book! I didn’t think it would turn out this way, but that’s just what i loved about it! The different point of vieuws made it even better, especially Lukas’ perspective! The link to the ocean, the water dragons, the relationships between the characters, it’s just amazing! If you’ve read the first book, you should definitely read this one too!!!

I loved diving back into the story of Naria, who is a fantastic romantasy heroine! It's hard to say much more without giving spoilers, but I can tell you that Naria is a strong, compassionate woman, and that makes her a great leader.

Though the book starts off somewhat slowly and there are moments of over-exposition, it picks up speed as it goes, and I enjoyed the expanded worldbuilding, especially the introduction of a merfolk kingdom. There's even a shark named Sweetie, and I love him!

As with the first book, the female characters--old and new alike--are all important to the story, and Naria doesn't give up her friendships while pursuing romance. And that romance turned out just how I'd hoped, which made for a satisfying conclusion to this duology!

Thank you to the author for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Of Oceans and Broken Princes is second book in the Medicine Princess series, the debut by lovely Erin Fae. Following the events of the first book, princess Naria must stand up once more and fight for the future of her kingdom and the man she loves. Though still bonded to Arenn, Fae Prince, her heart beats for one and only Prince Lukas. Both him and Naria are challenged by a sudden travels to another kingdom with one and only goal - introduce Naria to other rulers and perhaps get some allies for Corlixir Kingdom. There's also another problem - Prince Lukas has finally found out about his own heritage... What lies down there, deep in the ocean?

Romantasy genre has been quite popular lately. That's why both Of Ashes and Wildflowers and its sequel will fit right in. First book had more of "fairytale" and "dreamlike" vibe - it was a nice and fluffy young adult fantasy romance with a little bit of spice, but nothing scandalous, it was quite tame. The sequel? Daaaamn... The author didn't hold back and added just a right amount of spice and sass... and I absolutely loved it. As much I am not fan of love triangles, the relationship between Naria, Lukas and Arenn is quite fun to follow and though it is really frustrating to look at at times, I completely understand why readers obsess over it. Me personally? Team Lukas all the way. We got to see completely new level of his interactions with his beloved Naria and I ate all of it up.

Not only was I super invested in the characters but the whole new setting underwater? Magical. If you love mermaids and other sea creatures, you'll love it. Do you love domesticated sharks? Erin got you. I will be forever recommending this series because it's gripping, sassy and super easy to get into.

I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange for the honest review.

This review was hard to write since I didn’t really enjoy most of the book. I tried to like it, but it wasn’t for me, sadly. But it had potential and I liked parts of it.

At times the story felt rushed and too much happened at the same time, while some things took way too long.

Lukas and Naria travelled to Ryntook and some of her friends from Corlixin came with them. Then they were barely mentioned in the book except for when they helped Naria tend to the sick.
Ivy were shown more than the others, but we didn’t really get to know her. She seems like Raena, but perhaps not as interested in fashion.

I don’t like any of the love interests, they’re both toxic and want to own her.
Also their personalities and behavior are very similar. Some scenes made me uncomfortable.

Naria trusted Arenn too much. He talked all the time about taking her back to his kingdom and never letting her leave. Then she believed him when he promised to not take her back, and she wanted to become friends?
And when Lukas said possessive and toxic things to her she didn’t seem to care.

In my opinion the fairies and mermaids are too similar. Even Arenn’s twin sisters and Lukas’s cousins were the same.

The book got much better though in part 2!! I liked that part better. It was more fast paced and interesting. Lukas suddenly didn’t seem toxic anymore and I liked him more. I liked the scene where Naria met him underwater after following the blue smoke ribbon.

Ok, wow that book was absolutely good.
I think Erin Fae also have the divine gift*.
Attention she can draws you deeply in her story.
I inhaled the last chapters because I just couldn‘t stop.
I need to say that this start of the book was cruel - really - I could feel it. The pressure on my lungs…
So her writing style is truly captivating. One of the standout aspects is her ability to create deep emotional connections with the characters. That paints vivid imagery that allows me to visualize the settings and feel the emotions intensely.
She truly has an eye for details. The world she build is so gorgeous and captivating.
It is such a good book.
I giggled, laughed, cried, sighed and also was gasping with all the information.
And btw this would be a very good movie.
Her authenticity helps readers to not only understand the characters' motivations but also to empathize with their struggles and their life decisions.
Overall it is inviting readers to fully immerse themselves in the world she has created and to feel deeply for the characters within it.

ARC REVIEW

Omfg! I thought that the first book was good, but the sequel was even better. If you also have read the first one, you know what the story is about.

So, the sequel starts right after the end of the first book. Naria is trying to be a good queen for her kingdom, but she doesn't know what she should do. Lukas is helping her, but it's not easy. And Arren is so stubborn, I want to punch him.

I loved everything! The story was amazing, the MC, the pace, the descriptions, everything was perfect. I fell in love with Lukas at the first book, but at this, I wished that he was real.
The book is like a fairytale, "Once upon a time, there was a princess…" and I really enjoyed the reading.
Also, my heart broke at… no, I'll not tell you. Erin knows what I'm talking about.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A huge thank you to Erin Fae for sending me an ARC copy of this book!! (As always, being sent this book does not affect my review)

🏰 We mostly get our POV from our FMC Princess Naria but we get some chapters that are in both MMC's POV!

🏰 Erin has to be a witch because I can't stop thinking about these books! She has definitely put something in these books because I am addicted

🏰 The world-building is just extraordinary - Erin puts so much detail into the differences in the kingdoms with little things like clothing, plants and temperature!

🏰 Her writing is phenomenal! She writes just so beautifully

These books have got me in an utter chokehold! This will definitely be a series that I come back to again and again. I would 10000% recommend giving this a read!!

⚠️TW: Amnesia, anxiety, panic attacks, sexually explicit scenes, alcohol consumption, grief & loss depiction, bullying, profanity, captivity & confinement, kidnapping, knife violence, attempted murder, physical assault, poisoning, stalking, drowning, medical treatment, physical injuries, scars ⚠️

🌶️: 4/5

this was an ARC read.

I was so honored to be an ARC reader for this book, I've been an ARC reader for the first book as well. The first book is named Of ashes and Wildflowers.
this is the second book of a duet. For me, this book has the perfect balance between romance and fantasy/plot, making it a fun read. I love the characters. They're diverse and very likeable.
the story is about Naria and Lukas, picking up a few weeks later where book 1 ended. there's betrayel, new friendships, merfolk and a certain fae prince that won't give up easily. We also get to know more about Lukas.
if you want a fantasy book that's easy to read, very entertaining and with romance this is definitely for you!
Btw the cover?! I'm in love.

This was wonderful. It was the sort of soft and magical story that felt like a place to rest and a warm hug. Getting to see Corlixir and all of Naria’s friends was lovely. And the descriptions of under the sea were so bright and vivid that it almost felt as if I was there. I said it after book 1 and I’ll say it now after book 2, this gentle faerie story is perfect. I can’t wait for the spin off! (As a side note, I also can’t wait to see the special edition for this book. The one for book 1 is gorgeous).

🩵If you like:
• faeries
• mermaids
• magic
• healers
• a shy female main character
• mysterious diseases
• dragons
Then you should go and read Of Ashes and Wildflowers, then read this book🩵

🪻I received an ARC of this book and am leaving an honest review voluntarily🪻

Of Oceans and Broken Princes continues with the mesmerizing world building in which our unique FMC tries to navigate all the obstacles the other rulers set out for her. I loved the added POV’s and the new voices that got to tell the story.

We take a deep dive into the lore and with it we get to explore more of the kingdoms, magic and relationships. Two betrothals are bound to make one hell of a messy situation - oh boy(king) I did not see these twists coming!

Perfect if you love your romances sweet, lower YA with the smallest of spice and the princes (yes, plural) obsessive (mine), jealous (Mine) and royally in love with the FMC (MINE!).

I received a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for the review opportunity!.

Good sequel to the first book! I love the development of Lukas’s abilities. Naria always stays her same self, but grows in confidence. I love how royal life didn’t stop her from healing and loving.
I wasn’t a fan of the sexual innuendos and “touching” sections. It wasn’t necessary to the plot and only felt like it was thrown in later. I feel like a slower burn, with less of it, could have suited the plot more. And felt a more accommodating to those who weren’t expecting it.
I also feel like the transition between the two sections could’ve been smoother, and maybe longer. Just a thought though.
Overall, I liked these books. Fun read to cozy up with.

Such an easy read. The words flowed perfectly.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and this one didn’t disappoint either.
I liked how every character within the story was placed there perfectly. No unnecessary people popping in to fill the book. Though each side character had the right amount of page time without taking the story away from the main characters.

I really do hope there is more to come. I feel like there is more to the story… 🙂

Thank you Erin for the early release. It was a wonderful read 🙂

If you loved the first one, then make yourself a favor and grab this one as soon as it’s released.
I love the growth of the characters, i love Naria and how fearless she is.
I loved that we found out more about one of the main characters. Which made me fall more in love with that one.
The moment i started reading i couldn’t stop, i had to finish and see if the couple i was rooting for would end up together.
I love Erin’s writing, so fluid, so easy to get involved in the world she created.
Thank you Erin for letting me read this before it’s releasing day.

Really loved both novels. It felt like a true romantasy, the world building was amazing. I do feel like the part two was a bit rushed, definitely not my favorite addition. I did find myself rooting for Arenn to also have happiness and I’m glad to see it left open for him to get a spinoff. He’s definitely yandere vibes and I think that also could have made an interesting psychological dark romance novel lol but overall I’d definitely buy these novels to reread. It’s up there for me for sure. I think everyone should give it a chance. Hope the author sells the limited edition copies again soon.

Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC! This was just as magical and fun as the first one. I have seen this advertised as old Barbie movie vibes and as someone who grew up with those, I agree! It’s refreshing to read something like this where there is still conflict but it all wraps up beautifully.

I really loved the first book. The writing, the characters and story. I feel like the second book should have been split into two books. It was very rushed and slow at the same time. Too many different plots going on.i hated the back and forth between the two main men characters. It was exhausting and got bored with it. I did however love the descriptions of the underwater world.

Actually DNF’ed this not for anything other than one sexual scene in here where the characters did some stuff with their hands (non descriptive but still made it apparent) that made me uncomfortable sadly

I love Erin Faye’s books! Of Oceans and Broken Princes is the sequel to Of Ashes and Wildflowers. It is a fabulous book. We get to see some other kingdoms on Naria’s and Lukas’ travels. Prince Arenn causes a good bit of trouble for Naria and Lukas. I highly recommend this book.
