Flying Diamond 5 #3

Rancher's Heart

Rate this book
All Griffin Harp has ever wanted was serenity, but apparently that’s hard to find.
When someone’s trying to sabotage the Flying Diamond Five Ranch, it’s up to him and his business partners to pull from their past to protect their future.
Add in a nurse who walked into his life and turned it upside down when she saw through his facade in mere minutes, he comes up with a plan that moves her into his house, and he can’t deny that he’s grateful for her help.
The single mother, who's been struggling to support her hearing impaired son, is in danger herself, and Griff vows to protect them both.
Maybe what he’s wanted all these years isn’t actually what his heart desires.

It’s the typical single mom trope… she’s always busy, no time to enjoy life, her house is a mess… then her prince charming shows up and fixes everything.

Anyway..

There was a lot about this book that didn’t work for me and I didn’t really like the MCs or their relationship! Don’t even get me started on the H’s nickname for the h 😕 (if you’re curious, he calls her “woman.”) plus I’m not a fan of “Insta-attraction”. There’s no slow build up or relationship development which is so disappointing because that’s what I read romance for (this is just my personal preference but I think some readers would enjoy it).
_____

Safety:

— Both MCs are in their mid-thirties
— Insta-attraction
— Single mom to a 10 yo boy (he doesn't appear often which was another thing that I found disappointing. I mean what's the point of writing about a single mom if her kid is barely around?)
— The h's son is deaf
— The h has been divorced for 7 years (her ex cheated on her and she caught him on the act)
— Co-parenting with her ex (they have a normal relationship)
— Both are experienced (the H more than the h)
— I’m not completely sure if the H was a manwhore or not (no really details given about his past) but I’m pretty sure he got his fair share of women / he was never in love before the h

“I hadn’t needed anyone. When I had a desire for sex, I managed to find someone who was interested in a night or two, but nobody ever made my heart stop mid-beat, but I also hadn’t been looking for anyone beyond the one-night-stand girls.”

— The h has been celibate for a year or more (I forgot)
— No info on the H last time
— OMD (see notes)
— No OWD/Cheating
— No scenes with other people
— HEA
.
.
.

Notes:

— OMD :

• The h’s former landlord tried to assault her but the H stopped him. He caused more trouble after that (unnecessary drama tbh).
• Jealousy moment… Someone asked the h for a date in front of the H.
• Not really important but there is this moment between the h & her ex (I’m okay with this but ngl… If this was the opposite and the scene was of the mmc with his ex-wife I’d definitely be so mad. Lol).

We laughed together, and for the first time in ages, I wasn’t uncomfortable around him. “But you deserve to be happy, and even if it was Starcie, I wouldn’t have said anything more about it.”
“I was happy once, but I fucked that up.” He reached up and moved a chunk of my hair that had blown over my face and tucked it behind my ear.
“No it wasn’t just you, and you know it.” There were a lot of things I could blame Troy for but the end of our marriage wasn’t on him alone.

• Her ex is around and has appeared a few times... He still has feelings for the h but he doesn't cause any drama between the MCs. There was a moment of jealousy when the H saw the h and her ex with their son.
Other than that the H and the h’s ex had a good relationship (they became close friends).

• ARC REVIEW•
• RANCHERS HEART: BY BONNIE POIRIER •
• GRIFF & ELLE •
•⭐️⭐️⭐️ •

First and foremost I want to thank Bonnie Poirier for this ARC opportunity in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book of Bonnies that I have read, but it is the third book in the series. I loved the story line and the characters, and their relationships! Especially Griffs and Elles sons!
Elle and Griffs relationship was an instant connection. There were all different emotions reading this book, laughs, smiles, frowns and anger. But they all bought the book together.
I loved the found family in this book, how inclusive all the characters were towards Elle and her deaf son, Parker. Learning ASL to help communicate with him. I know you can read this as a stand alone, but I think I would have found it better if I had read the other books first, that is just my opinion, so I would suggest reading the others first. I did really like Elles character, she was probably my favourite of the book. She was strong and independent, always doing what’s best for herself and her son. Griff is possessive, understanding and very loving towards those he cares about.

What to expect:
- Duel POV
- Found Family
- Possessive MMC
- Disability Reps
- Single Mom
- Rancher x Nurse

***ARC Review***
I have had the immense pleasure to receive ARCs of two of Bonnie’s books in the Flying Diamond 5 series (and a very generous free copy of the first book that was already published). When Rancher’s Heart was advertised I knew I needed to be on the ARC team; not only because Bonnie is a fellow Canadian, but because I have become enmeshed in the lives of the Five and their Families and needed to see Griff and Elles HEA.

Griffin Harp is an ex-bull rider with an unhealed shoulder injury leaving him with little to no feeling in his one arm. Elle Gregory a single mom to 10 year old Parker who is deaf. As well as the ER nurse that treated Geoff the day he was injured . A year later and all it takes is a broken fence, some stray horses and a red bra to start the sparks flying and the ball rolling.

The chemistry between Griff and Elle is electric, and the loving way the whole family at the Flying Diamond embraces Elle and Parker, immediately learning ASL so they can better communicate with him just hits you right in the feels. But, if you’ve been around the Flying Diamond for a while, you know it is par for the course. Once you come to the Ranch, you’re family.

Growing up on a cattle farm in Northern Ontario cowboy romances have always been my thing, and Bonnie does it BEAUTIFULLY. You can tell she know’s a thing or two about ranch life and ropes the reader right into the story and the day to day of a working cattle ranch.

I give it a solid 5 stars and I’m sure you will too.

You won’t regret joining the Flying a Diamond Family.

⭐️ 4.5 | 🌶️ 2.5

This was the book version of a comeback 🙌🏻 everything I wanted from book two, and then some.

From the moment Elle used her bra to rescue a horse (iconic and resourceful), I knew she was going to be a badass FMC and she did not disappoint.

Elle’s a nurse and single mum to Parker, her deaf 10-year-old son. Griff is the charming, grounded cowboy-next-door. When Elle is forced to flee her home after her creepy landlord crosses a line, Griff doesn’t hesitate—welcoming both Elle and Parker into his life like they’d always belonged there. He even takes it upon himself to learn ASL so he can truly connect with Parker. 🥰

From Griff rescuing Parker from a terrifying abduction attempt to Elle literally bringing Griff back from the dead after the barn fire, the stakes in this book were high. But what really stood out was how it leaned into the aftermath grappling with the physical injuries, the emotional scars, and the slow, tender process of healing. Their love story felt earned, layered, and deeply moving.

Where book two fell flat, this one soared. The mystery subplot around the ranch sabotage added real tension and stakes, enhancing the romance rather than distracting from it.

Spicy, suspenseful, and so damn heartwarming this was easily my favourite of the series so far.

This is my first book I’ve read by Bonnie, and I wish I would have started with the 1st book of the Flying Diamond 5 and not the 3rd book to further solidify myself into the world. However, I was still able to enjoy the book and it really packed in an emotional roller coaster.

The book follows the journey of retired bull rider Griff Harp and ER nurse Elle Greggory as they find themselves in quite the predicament shortly after Elle catches and returns Griff’s horses to him. Elle and her deaf son Parker find themselves being evicted and Griff invites the two to live with him. Upon moving into Griff’s home secrets slowly begin to unravel all while Griff and Elle fight for their happiness and the safety of their families.

The emotional roller coaster this book takes you on is something else. From not only Griff learning ASL to be able to communicate with Parker but the rest of the 5 and their families in order to be inclusive of Eller and Parker. Have no fear the book sprinkles in some steamy cowboy scenes and the next you might be scared for the lives of the characters.

Thank you Bonnie for the e-arc of this emotional read, now excuse me while I rewind and read the rest of the series. 

Elle is a single mom to a 10 year old boy. She’s an ER nurse and when she’s not working at the ER, she’s riding horses, raising her son who is deaf and is an equestrian masseuse. She met Griff when he broke his collarbone but their real meet cute is when she shows up to his ranch with his horses that escaped. She caught his eye right away and from that point, Griff wanted her attention.

Griff lived on this huge property that he shares with his friends and their families. He built a large home on the lake but it’s just him. The second he meets Elle, he knew she was different. He always thought he would be a bachelor for life with no kids, but Elle and her son,Parker, changed that mindset for him.

I loved this story so much because he took in Elle when her dirty landlords sold the house she was living in and she had no where to go. There was also a suspense twist to the story as well. Since Elle’s son was deaf, Griffin made it his mission to learn ASL, and so did all of his friends.

Trope:
Single Mom
Small Town
Hurt MMC
ASL/Cochlear Implant Rep
Roommates
Forced Proximity
Fuck It Moment
Suspense

I took a chance on a new author and boy am I glad that I did!! The Flying Diamond Ranch is full of love!!
I absolutely loved the gruffness of Griff and how cheerful Elle was. Since I'm new to this series, I was shocked when Griff told her what him and his friends do. I did not expect that.
These two have a great meet cute, which in turns, changes their lives.
See Elle is a single mom, raising a great kid with a hearing impairment. Parker was such a great kid with so much love around him. This makes for a part in the book that made my heart so happy. See Parker had a cochlear implant and when he takes it off, he can't hear at all. This is when sign language comes in. Elle and her ex know it but when she gets with Griff, he makes it his mission to learn as much as he can to communicate with Parker. It gets sweeter when the whole clan learns it as well. It was seriously the sweetest moment!!
Elle and Griff have so much in common and just complete each other so much!
There is a nuisance that they have to take care of and a tearful moment that makes you feel again.
I seriously loved this book and will definitely be reading more from this author!!

Elle and Griff’s story is captivating, sweet, a bit spicy and heartwarming. I enjoyed their chemistry, the banter, and even the snark. Elle is a feisty single mom with a deaf son she adores and will do anything to protect. She is independent, resourceful and resilient, and is also a dedicated nurse. Griff and his partners own the Flying Diamond 5 ranch. Some of them have found their partners in life while Griff is still waiting to find the right woman. When Elle enters his life unexpectedly, there is an instant attraction. Her being a single mom does not lessen the attraction or his interest in seeing if there could be something lasting between them. Their shared love of horses also helps to forge a connection between Elle and Griff. I love Griff’s dominant and protective side, his determination to learn ASL so he can communicate directly with Parker, and his persistence with Elle. He may have a gruff, growly exterior, but inside is a big, generous and loyal heart that now belongs to Elle and her son. Elle is wary about love thanks to her ex and doesn’t make things easy for Griff, even when she and Parker end up staying with him. Everyone on the ranch makes them feel welcome and part of their found family. Resisting Griff proves futile. I enjoyed the suspenseful elements in this book as well. They make it even more enjoyable.

I will happily recommend this book.

I enjoyed this so much, I devoured it in just a few hours.

I was lucky enough to read it a little earlier than release so I could see how the deaf rep was handled and I can honestly say it was amazing. Like Parker, I too gradually lost my hearing until I became profoundly deaf and needed a cochlear implant to hear. It’s not often you get a deaf character or one who is represented so well. I loved that everyone on the ranch started learning ASL so they could communicate on his level.

I loved Griff and Elle together! They worked so well and balanced each other out. He showed her it was okay to let someone take care of her and Parker and she got him to stop being so stubborn about his health.

The romantic suspense story was interesting. I liked that it was resolved fairly quickly and that Griff let Troy help.

Overall this was a sweet yet angsty cowboy romance with a broody cowboy and his fierce FMC. I really enjoy this series and can’t wait for the next book!

This emotional and heartwarming tale centers on Elle, a determined single mother raising her hearing-impaired son, Parker, and Griffin, the ultimate “book boyfriend” who is as protective as he is swoon-worthy.

From the moment Griffin enters Elle’s life, his love for her and Parker is all-encompassing. His possessiveness and deep sense of responsibility for those he cherishes make him an irresistible character.

The story balances romance and suspense beautifully, with the added tension of an unknown enemy threatening the Flying Diamond 5 Ranch. The scene where the barn is set ablaze, and Griffin is injured by a burning beam, was gut-wrenching. I found myself yelling, “Nooo!” because their love had just begun to blossom.

This book is a wonderful addition to the Flying Diamond 5 Ranch series. The mix of family, romance, and danger keeps readers fully invested. I’m now eagerly awaiting Ryder’s story and hoping it’s the next chapter in this fantastic series. Highly recommended!

4 ⭐️ 2.5 🌶️

✨ Single Mom FMC
✨ Boss / Employee
✨ Forced proximity
✨ Protective MMC

This is the 3rd book in the Flying Diamond 5 series, and true to form, Bonnie Poirier delivers the goods.

Griff is my latest book boyfriend..that's for sure!

The story line, like with the previous books, keeps you on the edge of your seat, and keeps you gripped.

Elle and Griff are sunshine and grump, but Griff is there to protect Elle when she needs him after her landlord gets a little pushy and tries to be handsy.
I enjoyed how ASL was touched on it this book, and how the family members took to learning ASL so that they could help Parker (Elle's 10 year old son) feel comfortable and safe.

This was a sweet, angsty rancher romance, that left me with a smile of my face.
The character development was beautifully done, and I highly recommend this series if you are after a well written cowboy / rancher romance that has tension, some spice and a great story line.

Thank you Bonnie for the ARC opportunity.

This is book 3 in the Flying Diamond Series and these just keep getting better and better!!!

Tropes:
• Single mom
• Small town
• Forced proximity

Griff was content with the life he has made on his ranch or he was until he met Elle. Once he met her, he realized he didn’t know what happiness was. After Elle and her son came into the picture, Griffin found out what love truly feels like.

Elle was shocked and surprised when everyone that welcomed both her and her son into the ranch family, without question began learning ASL. Elle’s son has hearing problems and uses a hearing aid but they also communicate via ASL and watching and hearing about all of Griffin’s family willing to do this just to make them both feel welcome, brought on so many emotions. Parker’s father’s family wouldn’t even go this far but a stranger did….Elle was shocked.

I loved watching Griffin and Elle work together to find their happily ever after and I can’t wait for the next book to come out!

Elle is always willing to be there for others both when it comes to her career as a nurse and Parker, her son, who has difficulty hearing. When a neighbor’s horses show up on the ranch where she was staying, she doesn’t hesitate to bring them back but she never expected him to return the favor by giving her and her son a place to stay when they find themselves with nowhere to go.

Griff was drawn to Elle from their first meeting, so he doesn’t hesitate to give Elle and Parker a place to stay on the ranch that he is a partner in. He wants a future with them and that includes protecting them when it comes to the suspense part of the story as well as learning to communicate with Parker in the way that he needs.

I enjoyed how Elle and Parker were accepted into the home that Griff and his friends created and how he was determined to show her that he was the man that she and her son could count on to be there for him no matter what.

Griff is everything.
Tall, handsome, sincere, and the kind of man who would do anything for the ones he loves. His love for Elle is instant, intense, and so beautifully protective — especially when it comes to her sweet son Parker, who is deaf. When danger shows up, Griff doesn’t hesitate. He’s there, ready to protect, to fight, and to love with his whole heart.

Their journey leads to something truly beautiful: a family built on trust, safety, and unconditional love. 🫶

One of my favorite things about Bonnie Poirier’s writing is what I call the “main event” moment. Whether it’s drama, a twist, or a heartfelt milestone like a wedding — it always lands around the 55–60% mark… and yet, there’s still so much more story left to enjoy. She teases just enough toward the end to get you dying for the next book.

I seriously want this series to go on forever. I love it that much. 💛
And yes, I’m already counting down the days until Rancher’s Strength releases on June 25th!

📚🌶

Rancher's Heart is the 3rd book in the Flying Diamond 5 series and these just keep getting better. Bonnie Poirer has created an awesome cowboy suspense romance series that has everything you could need. The sense of finding your people that you get from the characters when they finally settle in was great!!

Griff has only ever wanted one thing: serenity. That is to much to ask especially with someone trying to sabatoge the ranch. All he can do is keep his head on a swivel while he and his business partners try to protect there futures. Elle is a nurse and single mother to her hearing impaired son. She is in desperate need of help, but doesn't want a hand out. So Griff and Elle make a plan to move her and her son into his house. The dangers that keep coming have Griff's protective side out in full force.

This was my first book by Bonnie Poirier, and I feel like I've been missing out. I loved Griff and Elle's story. There's drama, love, suspense, emotion, steam, friendship, and family and so much more. The chemistry between them is amazing, but the best part of the story has to be how well Griff and the family took to Parker, Elle's son. The way they not only instantly accepted him, but learned ASL to be able to communicate with him (although he has the Cochlear implant) was nothing short of inspiring, amazing, heartwarming, and all the great feels!! I'd love Griff for that alone, but his personality is awesome. Elle is too. I loved them together and as individuals. This was such a great story that was entertaining to read from beginning to end. Now I must go back and read the first two in the series before the next one comes out. I'd definitely recommend this book.

What a creative use of lingerie. I loved how the cowboy / ranch elements were weaved into the story. When Elle and her hearing-impaired son, Parker, is forced out of their home, they end up moving into Griff’s ranch.

She helps him with massages to reduce the pain from his previous injury but above and beyond that, she soon becomes a balm to his lonely heart. I loved how the “family” embraced Elle and Parker so easily. Protective Griff is also super hot! Despite the short time together, Elle and Parker is soon intertwined with Griff’s life.

Besides the romance, the suspense also keeps the pace exciting. The sweet surprise in the last act cemented the start of their love story and brings with it a new phase in their lives.

Thank you so much Bonnie for the opportunity to read Rancher's Heart in advance.

This is book 3 in the Flying Diamond 5 Cowboy Romance series).

If you love books: single mom, small town romance, roommates, forced proximity, suspense, and disability rep then I would recommend this book.

I rate 4 ⭐️ 2 🌶️

What I love:
I love books that keep me on my toes and this book certainly did. I was initially engaged from the start.

I loved the disability rep in the book- it was so sweet seeing people interact with Parker (Elle's son).

Griff and Elle -I loved their chemistry- I loved how protective Griff towards Elle. It made me swoon.

This book was sweet and I ate it up. I can't wait to continue to read more from Bonnie.

Griff and Ella meet again when she catches his loose horses and takes them back to his ranch. They met the first time at the hospital, she's a nurse and was treating his injuries.
She ends up to rush to his ranch when someone harasses her at the run down place that she rents.
Griff has been attracted to Ella since he first saw her, he knows about her deaf son and when they move in he learns ASL.
Someone is targeting the ranch, various things keep happening, broken fences, horses getting out.
Ella is wary of trusting again after her divorce and Griff hasn't been interested in settling down, they make a great couple.

An entertaining read from Bonnie.

I received this book as an ARC, and I loved it so much! There’s something about a cowboy/small town romance that will always do it for me, and this one was no different! Griff and Elle had the perfect chemistry, and their relationship had everything you could ever want. Griff is the perfect stand-up guy, he’s possessive, sexy of course, and SO understanding. They are the perfect match if I ever did see one. Don’t get me started on Griff and Parker, their bond is so special, and he never felt like an outcast with their crew, Bonnie truly writes the best group of people with the best traits! Truly an amazing book, I loved it!

It's always such a joy when a new to me author exceeds my expectations. Rancher's Heart, is the latest release in Bonnie Poirier's Flying Diamond 5 series. Starring Griff Harp, an ex bull rider turned horse trainer/rancher whose got some secrets and Elle Greggory, a divorced mom who's life revolves around her deaf son and work as a nurse. The drama, suspense, emotion, surprises and sprinkle of spicy scenes throughout kept the pages turning in this story that has everything I look for in a romance and more. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the dirty talking cowboy?

Received a copy from the author, and this is my voluntary review.

The story revolves around a single parent nurse who's trying to make ends meet , while also looking after her deaf son , she gets in a little bit of trouble , but make no mistake she's ain't a damsel in distress, and yet her fierce side catches the attention of tan eligible cowboy who can't help but fall for her, this books is filled with plot twists, a little slow burn, excitement and smut, and definitely worth the read!!! Chanelle and Griffin along with her son Parker face many challenges in this book but only makes their bond stronger. It's a must read if one loves cowboys of single parent troupes.

Oh my Goodness! Griff just knocked Kipp out of the #1 spot! He’s protective, he’s a little dominant, and he took the initiative to learn ALS so he could communicate with her deaf son! I love how everyone at the Flying Diamond 5 Ranch accepted Elle and Parker into the fold like it was nothing. I love the found family aspect of this series and that everyone learned ALS for Parker.

I really like Elle. I knew she was special when she used her bra as a halter when she returned Griff’s escaped horses. She doesn’t take any crap and she’s hardheaded. There was one part of this book that had me tearing up. I knew that everything would be ok, but damn, it was an emotional couple of chapters.

Saddle up and get ready to fall in love with Griff & Elle. Danger, suspense, love, steam and the best found family are waiting for you in Ranchers Heart.

I’m a sucker for a sexy cowboy that falls first and hard and Griff did it for me in a big way.

The way everyone learned ASL for Parker and accepted him and Elle into their family was written so beautifully. This is the perfect example of why found family is my favorite trope.

I’ve loved the Flying Diamond Five series and am already looking forward to what’s next in the series.

She's a single mom and an ER nurse in a bit of a sticky situation. He's a retired bull rider and rancher fighting to keep his ranch and dealing with past injuries.

This was an instant connection romance between Elle and Griffin. It's a sweet and spicy story that was easy to dive into, with some drama, suspense, the found family aspect and emotion.

couldn’t put it down!

This book definitely pulled the heartstrings ! It was so beautifully written.

Griff and Elle are two souls who met again because of some horses. Between their love for family and each other, their hearts became one. What a way to capture a ranchers heart.

Divorced Single Mom an a cowboy is always a good trope to read. This book has romance, heartache(no 3rd act breakup) and found family with a protective MMC. Also has the perfect amount of spice with a great storyline.

Onto the next book!

So very much like ranchers Edge, I felt like there was a lot of jumping around, some scenes not flowing well, as the characters seem to be doing too many things.

I like Griff and Ellie, but it did feel forced in points, like them moving in with each other…. Like, you only knew her as your nurse and now you are moving her in?

I loved how accepting his ‘found family’ were of Parker, her son, and his hearing loss, they all learnt sign language to make him feel at home.

I liked the story but I didn’t love it.

mr bossy meets miss independent

Griff and Elle shouldn’t work but they were so good together.

He is so bossy and she is used to doing everything for herself.

I’m not usually a fan of a bossy mmc but it turns out he was exactly what Elle needed.

She needed someone to take some of the load off her shoulders and he needed someone who could handle his past and give him a future to look forward too.

There was a lot going on and plenty of heat! A thoroughly enjoyable read!
