Did you ever finish a story and have a whole different perspective for life. Feel like you wanted to be as strong as the main character and conquer all? Well that's how I felt after reading Sublime Wreckage. I truly loved this story. Charlene Zapata did a amazing job in telling a story so straight from the heart.

Having a major tragedy in one spilt second you would think that would be enough for one person to experience in a lifetime. But not for magnolia Pearl Wilson, she lives with a nightmare, literally a nightmare every day of her young life. But for Magnolia, which she likes being called Maggie uses this as a way to push herself to have a better life. This Maggie is one strong girl and I don't know how she became that way because I would of curled in the corner and never came out. Maggie is an inspiration for all. She goes through her everyday life with little friends, just her and her BFF Amanda, which is another character I loved in this story. Having a supportative and trustworthy friend is what Maggie needs. She doesn't need love from any boy to steer her in the wrong direction. That was until Vincent Moreno stepped in her view.

"No, It's just called being resilient. I think God gives us our strengths and for me its being able to endure anything. I choose not to let these things destroy me but rather build me into the person I'm meant to be. I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't gone through what I did. It's all a matter of perspective. I decided a long time ago that I wouldn't let her break me. I'm stronger than that."~ Maggie

Vincent Moreno has also experienced tradgety in his life also. Rumors go around about him being up to no good. But those rumors are not from people who really know the sweet, hard working, smart guy that he truly is . He's trying to build a good life for him and his family.

These two are truly a match made in heaven! As Im reading every word on the page I am so glad that they met and feel everyone should have a Vincent in their life. But with all the disfunction in Maggie's life will Vincent be enough, will she let him in and is he the guy she never knew would find his way into her heart? Is he her knight in shining Armor?

"Magnolia, you have become someone important in my life. I care about you. If nothing else you have become one of my closest friends. I will do anything I can to help you when you are in need. You aren't alone in this world. You will always have me. Whatever I can do to make your life a little easier please let me do it. That's all I ask from you . When you are ready you can tell me the truth. If you never feel ready, I understand. But I hope that someday you can trust me enough to let me into every aspect of your life."~Vincent

This story sucked me right in that I had a hard time putting down, which let me say I read this in a 24 hr span. This was a five star for me. The struggles these characters go through hit me so deep, awakening emotions from loss that I experienced in my own life. A story that is so relatable and real, Charlene tells it with brilliance. I'm so happy she was inspirted to write and wrote this beautiful story. Thank you Charlene, I'm looking forward to reading more from you!

"Vincent Moreno stole my heart with his amazing love. I didn't ask for this. I fought it from the very beginning. Because now, I'm left with the wreckage that was our relationship."

WOW. WOW. WOW. Ohmigosh, where do I even start?! Basics... Heart-breaking. Gut wrenching. Raw. Powerful. Flawless. Beautiful. A most definite 6 STARS and a new favorite author!!! Charlene Zapata is brilliant! She weaves a tale of many layers with such proficiency and truth. A truth that, regardless of degree, any person can relate to.

"I chose not to let these things destroy me but rather build me into the person I am meant to be."

Let's start with the characters... Maggie. Just how did we get the name for Magnolia Pearl Wilson?! I love it! It's beautiful and fits her to a tee! Maggie is an exceptional being. She's intelligent, beautiful, and most impressively, resilient. Now we see do many characters written with these same traits, yet Maggie stands out above them all! Maggie has been dealt the worst hand in history. Losing her father and enduring countless other traumatic events. Even without a great role-model, she's determined. She knows who she is and who she has to be. Maggie doesn't let anyone get close. She doesn't want to have to share her ugly world with anyone. She doesn't want to see pity or be anyone's charity case. Maggie's determined to endure so she can finally be free after graduation. But much of that changes when she continues to run into Vincent Moreno.

"My mind is telling me that I survived this long by myself while my heart is telling me to let him in."

Vincent Moreno... what can I say? He's tall, dark, and handsome with dark skin and deep brown eyes. He's a character written with a quiet fierceness. Vincent is patient, kind, smart, caring, protective loyal...The list goes on. But he's an extremely perceptive guy. Vincent's character is plagued with rumors. The very small town of Milford thinks they know him. Thinks he's some thug who steals and fights. Among other activities. Someone who smart Maggie has no business getting to know. While he doesn't try to put the rumors to rest, he's so very far from being that person. Vincent, too, has lost a parent. With that loss, he was forced to take on a different role within his family. He's a changed man. Vincent finds himself in the path of this beautiful girl and he has to know her.

"Every fiber of my being is drawn to this girl. The girl who holds my heart."

And don't get me started on the secondary cast!! Some are witty and comforting to read. Some are not. The brilliance and broad range of insight shown through these characters are what makes this book unputdownable! Forcing me to continue turning pages, with my heart pounding. Sometimes out of fear, anger, and frustration. Other times with confusion, sadness, and even smiles. While taking the reader through some very ugly circumstances, never loses the sensitivity needed to come out unscathed on the other side.

"Just his presence makes me feel whole again. Like I'm starting to remember who I am. That I am determined. That I can and will survive..."

There are so. Many. Things I'm leaving out. Key ingredients that make this book one of my favorites. And I'm completely sure that if I told you everything, you'd still be dying to read it! This is not a book for everyone. Crazy situations. Terrible scenes. Poetically breathtaking kisses. And a cliffhanger!!! But through it all, Sublime Wreckage has earned its place on my favorites list! So go... one-click... read, feel, and add it to yours too!!

"You can't change the past so i focus on my future."

Sublime Wreckage was a beautiful and heartbreaking read. The feelings in this book are so ugly and raw then so intimate and beautiful. It made you laugh, cry, cringe, smile, and see red with anger.

Maggie Wilson is not your typical teenager, she has been though and seen way to much at such a young age, yet her passion for life is still so strong. Charlene Zapata as a new author did an extraordinary job writing this character. Though there were times i wanted to shake some sense into her! Unconditional love really is a tricky thing.

Vincent Moreno is the perfect guy (except he can't cook) I did love that he had a flaw! One of my favorite things about this book was the relationship between Maggie and Vince or should i say lack there of in the physical sense. I love that they were friends first. Real bonding friends, they didn't just jump into a relationship with each other. It made the story that much more beautiful. It made the love they share that much more believable.

Amanda, Maggie's best friend was a fun secondary character. We didn't get to much of her or to little it was just the right dose. The struggles they face particularly Maggie with balancing Amanda and Vince was very true to life and unlike many other NA books where the best friend seems to just accept being pushed to the side.

I loved this story and really can't wait to see where these characters go and how they mature. There was a scene at the end of the book that i am sure i am in the minority by saying i am glad it happened. Throughout this book Zapata stayed so true to life that i am very happy she stayed true to that and made the writing choice that she did.

4.5 stars. This was a really emotional book and a great story. I could relate a lot to Maggie's life and my heart hurt for her. What an evil, horrible, bitch of a mother. I loved the slow build of her relationship with Vince. He came at just the right time in her life and helped her find strength. A great first book in the series and I can't wait for more.

Why not 5 stars?
I felt the MC's were way too mature and responsible for their age. Maggie is a high school senior and Vince is only twenty. Wise beyond their years and it troubled me a little bit. I wanted them to behave younger. They were too well spoken and too put together to be so young. Also, there were several mentions of Vince being a bad boy and I wanted to know more about that. Like I said, he seemed way too mature and polite to be a former bad boy.

Wonderfully written story by a very talented writer! This author knows how to make you feel the story and understand the emotions of the characters. Great story about young love, the passing of loved ones and the tragedy that can follow. This story also shows that even though life has dealt you some very difficult cards to play, there is always a way to get through and become a stronger, better person because of it, if you have the right attitude and/or supportive friends and family.

Ok so when you are gifted a copy of a book to read in exchange for an honest review I should warn you it is not all it's cracked up to be. I know right - free book = honesty - what could be wrong with that?? Loads I promise - what if you don't like the book, what if it shocking, what if you can't think of anything redeeming to say, anything constructive. By anything I mean one, tiny, small thing.

I cringe when I check through reviews for a book I'm interested in and see "I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review" which sadly in some instances is basically code for I've written a totally biased review blowing smoke up the author's arse because maybe she'll mention me in the acknowledgements for her next book.

Charlene kindly sent me a copy of her debut novel Sublime Wreckage. I have to confess I did read the synopsis first before committing. It did sound like something I would normally read. I'm not closed off to other possibilities but I find something I chose to buy myself easier to get into. Having read the blurb I also had "coming of age drama", "if you love someone set them free" and "teenagery" battling around in my head. Nevertheless I agreed to have a read and said I should have something by the weekend.

I started the book when I went to bed around 11pm and actually couldn't put it down. Having fell asleep on my kindle (not the first time I must add, I'm a self confessed book junkie) I was so into Maggie and Vincent's story I felt I'd not be able to continue my day unless I finished when I woke up this morning.

Maggie Wilson has suffered. There is no doubt about it. She suffered a terrible tragedy as a result of an accident during childhood. She suffers daily at the hands of a mentally unstable parent. If it weren't for her best friend and her Grandfather she'd have no-one. Yet despite it all she has a resolve, an inner strength, to just get through high school, keep her GPA up and graduate with grades good enough that she can escape to college. She knows with hard work and keeping her head down she can achieve this. She doesn't have time for distractions. She doesn't have time for Vincent Moreno.

Vincent is rumored to be that bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. High school drop out, runs in with the police, exactly the kind of distraction Maggie doesn't need. But after getting past his reputation Maggie realizes there is more to Vincent than meets the eye. He has suffered tragedy as well. He did have some run ins and made some bad choice but, he too, strives for something better. To make something better for himself and his family.

This is a beautifully told story from dual POVs. I personally, am a huge fan of a book with dual POVs - when the story is told from the point of view from both characters and the story moves along like that. I end up feeling somewhat cheated if I have to purchase another book from someone else's POV, like I've paid twice for the book. Having said that the first chapter from Vincent's POV was an exact rehash of previous chapters and didn't move on at all and did leave me feeling a little cheated but that is nothing to do with the author it's personal preference. This is a superb debut book from Charlene.

Sometimes when you finish a book you know it will stay with you for a while. Sublime Wreckage is one of those books. Despite being about someone else, it will translate into real life and make you question things. If someone like Maggie can overcome her struggles and difficulties then perhaps we should all strive to have a bit of Magnolia Pearl Wilson is us.

I can't wait for Sublime Resistance to continue Maggie and Vincent's story.

Sublime Wreckage By Charlene Zapata

Favorite Quote or Lines:

"No, it's just called being resilient. I think God gives us our own strengths and for me it's being

into the person I'm meant to be."

NADBB had the honor of making Charlene Zapata our debut review. I'm going to be be honest here, I was nervous. Not for doing reviews, as I've done quite a few of those before even attempting a blog. No I was nervous because this is NOT my normal type of book. So how was my review going to be? She's a first time author, I wouldn't wish to say anything to hurt her. At the same time I promised that as a person who runs a blog, I couldn't lie to those that depend on our Blog to steer them the right way.
I shouldn't have worried.
Sublime Wreckage Is a story of life, love, loss, life, anger and pain. Charlene Zapata pens a tale that sucks you in and makes it hurt to breathe at times.

Synopsis: Maggie, the heroine, was Daddy's little girl and like Daddy's little girl's are apt to do, she worshiped and adored everything about him. When she loses him in a car crash as a small child, her life is forever altered and that is where the story truly begins. Maggie struggles daily with life, with memories, with an abusive mother. She may only be a senior in high school but life has made her older, braver and stronger. Vincent Moreno is perfection on a stick. The Alpha bad boy that everyone warns a girl from, but you just can't stay away. Their story is engrossing, frustrating, loving, tender, real and most of all entertaining.

Review
The Good The minute Vincent was introduced to me, this story took off. I immediately wanted more. This story is told from dual points of view and as a reader I tend to enjoy that. It gives me a chance to see what both characters are feeling and I get a complete story. In Maggie's eyes Vincent is the hot high school drop out that she shouldn't want, but like every girl--does. It's a story of their friendship that developed deeper as the story went along. It's good from Maggie's POV, but when you get the same scenes from Vincent's you melt for him and you fall in love just a little deeper.
Charlene Zapata has a knack for giving us characters that are real, completely believable and beautifully flawed. This talent of hers kept me from screaming at our heroine and instead understanding her--even getting to the point of admiring her. The author also gives us secondary characters which enhance the story and leave us intrigued. They add to the main story without detracting. There was so much to love about this book and even though it wasn't my normal read? I did love the story, very much.

The Bad There's not much to put here...

I had a little trouble at the beginning dealing with the struggle that Maggie had over her dad. That's a personal thing, it was entirely believable but I found myself wanting to get to what I knew was the real story a little too much.
I loved the dual POV's, but right when we are first given Vincent's view it was a little tedious. It flowed well for me after that.
I am a girl who loves her happy endings. That doesn't mean I don't read cliffhangers, I do but I just need to be warned and in the right frame of mind. That said bring on book two I'm ready.
In closing, this book may be a debut by Charlene Zapata, but she comes off as a seasoned writer.

I would like to thank author Charlene Zapata for giving me a copy of her novel Sublime Wreckage to review honestly.

Some books have the power of changing perspective and impacting the heart so profoundly. I read through Sublime Wreckage in a few hours without putting it down. It made me laugh, cheer, cringe, and sob uncontrollably.

Maggie can’t wait to escape her small town and tries to keep her grades up to help her make it out. She lost her father at a young age. Her mother is mentally unstable, abusive, manipulative, and controlling. Maggie keeps everyone at arms-length, except for her best friend, Amanda. Having had her heart broken once she has no time to spare on romance, and remains focused on her goals. But then she meets reformed bad boy Vincent and suddenly all her careful walls start to break down.

Maggie took a few chapters to really grow on me as the main character. But once I had a good idea of Maggie’s abuse, she suddenly became a completely different person for me. Instead of driven and insecure, she became strong, smart, and very brave. Her goal was to get good grades and go to college out of town and escape her life. She had a bad experience with sex before and learned that her body was important to her and she wanted to be in love first. But fearing that she wouldn’t have time, she closed herself off from love.

Vincent was just absolutely a swoon-worthy hunk of a male character. Many things he said or did would just curl my toes -usually Maggie’s too! He managed to break down some of her walls, but Maggie was smart about it and insisted they only be friends. A beautiful friendship developed between the two of them which made for an even more romantic relationship further on. It was a very slow move to romance, but very well done. And at times very hot!

The abuse in this novel is gritty, gory, and hard-core in-your-face. Child abuse is an awful subject and it is portrayed in this novel very realistically. Zapata doesn’t sugar-coat it, and it isn’t for the faint of heart. Many times the abuse scenes had me cringing, nauseous, or full out sobbing. But it made this novel real, and had a huge impact on me as a reader.

One character I absolutely adored and wished for more time with was the best friend, Amanda. This character went through a huge transformation, kind of in the background, and I’m really hoping she could eventually get her own series. Amanda was in a terrible spot being a friend to Maggie, but unable to help her.

The novel was a love story but at its core it is a story about a survivor; about a brave girl willing to overcome terrible obstacles. Maggie is a teenager, so it could be seen as a YA novel, but I would recommend that only mature teens should read it due to the content. It is absolutely worth the read.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.

Sublime Wreckage book review

Maggie is just trying to make it through her senior year so that she can get as far away from where she lives and her mom. Her father died in a car crash, that she was in as well, when she was a little girl. Her life with her mom has been hell since.
Vincent Moreno keeps seeing Maggie places. He first sees her running, and then places like his brother's high school and the grocery store. He's intrigued by her and wants to get to know her. Maggie isn't interested in a relationship. Her last one didn't end well, and she doesn't want to get close to anyone again. She's happy just having her best friend Amanda and a few other friends from school. Vince is determined to get closer to her and he's eventually successful.
Will Maggie let Vincent into her past so they came have a future? Will they make it through all the drama that still surrounds her life?

I give this book 4.5 stars out of 5 stars

First let me say that you WILL be reading another book to continue this story. I can't wait for it to come out, because this book has all my interest. It's a well written book with a story that keeps you consumed page by page.
The characters are unique from any other book I have read. Although Maggie seems to be a push over when it comes to her mother, I know that those kind of reactions are real. At first I didn't like Maggie because she seemed weak. As the book progressed I empathized with her. This was her mother that mistreated her so badly. How can you not love your mother? She wanted to be loyal to her and not add any stress to her mother's life. It just seemed so unfair to poor Maggie.
I liked Vincent from the beginning when he is introduced in the story through Maggie's point of view. He seemed like a hot bad ass that you would love to be close to. Then you read the same story but from Vincent's point of view. It was crazy how the same scenes were so different from different perspectives. I just wanted to reach into the book and give Vince a hug. Well. That is until I got to the last few pages of the book where I wanted to slap him AND Maggie. UGH!!! I really cannot wait for the second book! I've got to know what's going to happen!
So, if you want a great book that will keep you turning the pages no matter what time it is or no matter what you are supposed to be doing, this is it! Just be prepared to wait for the second book.

Sublime wreckage is a very emotional, beautiful and heartbreaking story. I experienced a wide range of emotions when I was reading this book and I finished it in one sitting.
Maggie is a teenager who has been through so much and has seen so much in her short life. All she wants is to graduate high school and get very far away from her mother. The only person she can rely on is her best friend Amanda. That is until one day she meets Vincent.
Vincent doesn't have a good reputation. He's known as the "BadBoy" about town. When Maggie meets him though, she sees straight through him and knows that he's not the "BadBoy" he's made out to be. Vincent and Maggie form a very strong friendship, but is there more between the two of them than just friendship? Will Vincent be able to gain Maggie's trust? Will Maggie end up heartbroken?
Maggie is a very venerable character. She has been through so much in her short life that you can't help but feel for her. She's been broken down time and time again, but some how still manages to stay strong and carry on with her life as best she can. You want nothing more than for her to be saved and given the decent life that she deserves.
Vincent has also experienced tragedy in his life and has been labelled as a "BadBoy" even though that's not the truth. In reality Vincent is the complete opposite of a "BadBoy" he's sweet, caring and very hard working. If people spent the time getting to know him then they'd see they've judged him wrong and that those people judging him are making his life worse than it already is.
Maggie and Vincent are made for each other. They make each other's lives better and for once make each happy. I loved watching their relationship develop from true friendship to more. Their bond was incredible and I enjoyed their journey together.
The author has wrote a lovely story. I was completely engrossed in the story and the journey the author took us on. I was experiencing all the highs and lows along Vincent and Maggie as well as the twists and turns.
This was a great story about friendship, young love and growing up.
I enjoyed the book and I'm looking forward to the next instalment.

Sublime Wreckage lived up to its name. It’s a heavy hitting, raw, honest and heartbreaking portrayal of abuse and tragedy.

Our female lead, Maggie, has made a career of being invisible. She’s the girl who fades into the background, and never brings friends home. She keeps people at a distance to keep her home life under wraps. The product of a marriage that quickly soured, Maggie is forced to stay with a manic mother after her father is killed in a car wreck that continues to haunt her. Unstable and extremely unpredictable, Maggie’s’ mother treats her like slave.

Their interactions are tough to read, and would have broken a weaker person. Maggie’s determination, and strength of character were impressive for someone so young. But occasionally her choices made me want to scream. There were times when I knew all she had to do was open up, and tell the people she loved, but her stubborn pride wouldn’t allow it. Maggies’ horrific home life has led her to build a wall she only allows her best friend, Amanda behind. Then an unexpected visitor comes onto the scene, ex bad boy extraordinaire, Vincent. The older boy slips behind her defenses and changes everything.

Vincent is the perfect example of how things can change. Once the high school bad boy breaking rules and playing the role of a modern day James Dean, the twenty-year-old learns the hard way what matters in life when his father dies. He steps up to the plate, begins his own business and leaves the troubled path he’d been leading behind. Maggie intrigues him, and as he gets to know her, she lifts him up and helps him see his worth.

This is a story about growing up, finding yourself, and falling in love. Vincent was a sweet boy who truly respects Maggie. I enjoyed watching them grow together and be there to one another as they dealt with personal issues. While I enjoyed the journey I would’ve liked to see more of a reason for her mother’s unforgiveable behavior. I felt the inferred reason of depression or a possible bi-polar disorder to be flimsy and slightly offensive to those who have the diagnosis.

Maggie had lived through so much from such a young age...beginning with the death of the one person that she loved and trusted most to growing up having to live every day riding on an emotional roller coaster. She always did what she thought was right to make the best of a terrible situation all while trying to avoid making herself a burden to those who loved her most! All until she meets the love of her life...Vince Moreno! He stepped into her life in the blink of an eye knocking down all of the emotional walls that she had spent so many years building. He opened her eyes and her heart and she soon realized that there was much more to life then she ever dreamed! Aside from her best friend Amanda and her Grandfather she had never gotten close to anyone but now Vince has opened the door to her happiness and given her the strength and desire that she needed to move on to a better place in life!

What a fantastic read! I literally read chapters 10 - 31 in one day because I could not put it down! This book was very well written and included such true to life experiences that were so descriptive that you could almost feel them. At times, I felt as though I was right there with Maggie because of how connected I became to the emotions of her character. I laughed, I cried, I completely felt Maggie's pain whether it be through the details of her nightmares or the physical beatings inflicted on her by her Mother. I love the details of Maggie's life and how we got a dose of each of the characters in the perfect amounts. Charlene did such a great job with this book and creating such true to life characters! For a debut novel she knocked this out of the park...she is a story teller at heart and I hope she is already working on Sublime Resistance because I cant wait to put it on preorder!!

Most books that grab the reader from the first page turns out to be really good. Sublime Wreckage went above and beyond just a really good book. It sucked me into the point that I could feel what the character felt. And after it was all over, it had my mind still drifting in the world that the author has created. It had me falling back down to earth slowly like ashes from a bad fire.

Maggie was one of those characters that really touched my heart. I had no choice but ride the crazy roller coaster of her life. The ups and downs that were going on in her life kept me on my toes waiting to see what was going to happen next. I really admired her from the beginning. No matter what her mom said or did... at the end of the day she kept her head up.

I really loved Vincent. He was so funny and sweet, and caring. He stuck by Maggie when he figured out things weren't good at home. All of their flirty banter was so cute and sweet. I liked that he didn't rush her into a relationship with him. They took it slow, and got to know each other. He was so different than most teenage male characters, and I enjoyed reading something different for a change.

I also like Maggie's best friend Amanda. Amanda is the only person that Maggie let into her life. I loved the connection that Maggie and Amanda had. I hope Miss Zapata gives Amanda her own story. I would definitely love to learn more about her.

The book kind of left off on a little cliffhanger , so I am excited to see what is next for these awesome characters. I highly recommend this book to any NA fans that like books that really steps out of the high school/ college drama.

I give this book 5 stars, It kept me engrossed the whole time. This book shows how to overcome tragedies that come happen to you in the blink of an eye. And how you find out how strong you are when strong is all you can be. We have Maggie who is focused on graduating high school with high enough grades and sat to get some scholarships to go to college. To get out of the little town she lives in and away from her abusive mother. She is only focused on that so when Vincent comes into her life and throws her plan off track. Vincent is the rumored bad boy, the thug, that everyone says to stay away from. But is the rumors really true or is it just people wanting to run there mouths. Maggie and Vincent then start one of the best friendships either have had. But both feel more for the other one, so what happens when they finally cross that line. Will it be one of the greatest loves of all or a mistake? And what will Maggie do about her decision on college? This is the first book and it does have a small cliffhanger, but even if it didnt you would still be wanting more! This book is so well written and they way she pulls you in is just amazing. I really cant wait to read more from this author and this series. I wanna know what happens to Maggie,Vincent,Amanda and Maggies mom. I highly recommend this book and didnt want to give to much away in this review because you need to discover it on your own. I believe this is just the beginning to a wonderful story!!!!

From the moment I opened the book and read the dedication I cried and knew that this book would be special. It was at that moment Charlene held my heart in her hands. Be prepared because the moment that you start the book you won't want to put it down until you're finished! This book will stay with you forever! It truely changes your outlook on life and makes you want to be a better person. Like Maggie no matter what you go through in life you keep your head on straight and you fight for what you deserve and don't give up! Vincent is such a dream! The exact reason why you don't judge a book by its cover or listen to what people say about people. This book will pull at your heart strings and evoke so many emotions out of you that you didn't even know that you had. I am still floored that this is Charlene's debut book. The writing was amazing. She drew you into the story. She brought you on a journey and you weren't just feeling your own emotions you felt like you were there experiencing what the characters went through. Congratulations Charlene on wiring such a masterpiece. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Thank you for sharing your gift with us all.

Wow, is where I am at with this book.

I was given a copy by Charlene for me to give my input to, and then forgot about it, and after being reminded to read it by Charlene on Wednesday, i started it........................

Well there went my afternoon and my night and I woke up super doper early to finish it the next morning, it was absolutely superb, I could not put it down.

After such a terrible upbringing Maggie finally finds some happiness in her life in the form of a wonderful guy named Vincent.

He helps her to become extremely happy about herself and who she is as a person, and she also in turn brightens up his world too, and she finally finds out what true family life is all about, then her world is rocked once again.

You will need to read this story to find out more, as I cannot say more without giving the story away.

5 stars from me, and I can't wait to start book 2 which is on my Kindle waiting.
This is a must read, it comes with my reccomendation.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Not all of us get the ideal childhood. Some of us grow up in an environment where not only do we not feel loved but are told so many times how worthless we are that it takes everything in us to just get up every day and survive. Maggie lost her father at an early age and her mother well let’s just say she is not going to be winning any awards anytime soon. Maggie just wants to get through high school and move out of her town and get a college education. Then she meets Vincent. Vincent brings Maggie peace that she has not known for a very long time. What Vincent and Maggie have is a once in a lifetime kind of love that should be nurtured and cherished. Maggie has finally graduated high school and is looking forward to a future. This is a wonderful tale of perseverance and the strength of the human spirit to make it through anything. I cannot wait for the second part of this series to see what happens next.

My Review
What a wonderfully written book. Maggie is a sweet young but mature girl trying to get through her senior year of high school so she can move on with her life far from her tormenting mother. She is Broken to the core and just wants to be loved. She just does not know how much more she can take. School and her job are the only things that she looks forward to each day and cringes when she gets home not knowing what type of blow will come her way. After befriending Vincent who is known to have a bad boy reputation. Their friendship soon blossoms into an amazing friends love that could last a lifetime. Vincent promises to help protect Maggie and do whatever he can for her, but will it be to late? Can Maggie overcome the hurt and pain she has received from the mother who was suppose to love and nurture her? This book was an awesome read. I am looking forward to reading many more from this author.

"No, it's just called being resilient. I think God gives us our own strengths and for me it's being
able to endure anything. I choose not to let these things to destroy me but rather build me
into the person I'm meant to be."

This statement by the main Character Maggie just says more than I could ever say. Maggie is not your normal high school student. She is dealing with an abusive mom with an untreated mental illness. She wants nothing more to finish high school and get away from her mother. If that is enough she also lost her father at a young age. Maggie meets an older boy that ends up supporting her and is willing to stay in the friends zone until Maggie is ready. This is such a heart breaking story that is beautifully written. Very raw, very emotional ending that is going to leave you in tears. Heck I was in tears for most of this book. Charlene Zapata is an author I will following from now on! Can’t wait to read more of her books.

Maggie has had an awful life. Her father died when she was young and her mother hates her literally. Her mother goes through spells where she is awful to her. Only time she's free is when she's at school and practice. Maggie is an awesome girl. She has an awesome best friend named Amanda. She has been there for her through thick and thin. One day after school she sees Vincent. He is rumored to be the terror of town and a misfit. Maggie comes to realize that this isn't true and is totally opposite. She starts to fall for him quick but steps back because no one has ever been there for her like that. Vincent has to prove to Maggie that he is worth trusting. Will he gain her trust or will she end up broken hearted.

Truly enjoyed this book; could not put it down and as a result read it in one session and looking forward to the next. It's got trauma, heartbreak, recovery with drama, a bit of romance - some of the complicated misunderstanding/resistance that romance often has in such stories but this one is NOT done like all the others. While being an amazing and entertaining read, it was also inspirational. Maggie has a tough home life but she just refuses to let it get her down, refuses to take a victim role and finds positivity in everything. Needs a little bit of editing help but, truly just a little. Well written and left me wanting more.

Great read

Maggie is trying to make it through her last year in high school and get away from the mother that despises her. Ever since her father died in a car accident her mom has made her life hell. She doesn't want to date because she has no time for it and has had problems with her mother when she dated in the past. Then she meets Vincent Moreno who has a reputation for being the bad boy and they are instantly drawn together. Will she be able to. move on from her past and start a new life with Vincent? Will she ever get away from her abusive mother? I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

Charlene's debut novel was amazing!

Girl meets boy from the wrong side of the track. They become friends. They fall in love and become lovers. Heartbreak, bad home life. Its all in this book!

Maggie is a strong girl who has dealt a bad life at home with her mother. Vincent is a good guy with a troubled past. Their love story / friendship is amazing. I am still in awe/shock.

I can't wait to see what happens for Maggie next.

What an emotional roller coaster and I didn't wanna get off the ride!

Maggie is one tough chick for all that she has been through. Trust is hard to find but once Vincent comes into view all roads lead to his arms. Maggie has walls up but Vincent with all his ways try to break them down.

I enjoyed this book from start to finish. I will definitely pick up book 2 in this series. I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.
