I got this free book in a kids’ meal from Chick-Fil-A. Cute illustrations and fun story. It’s perfect for my little grandchildren who are old enough to have chores.

Splat the Cat is one silly character and he definitely likes to have fun. In this silly adventure he is all about his video games and fun his way, until his dad calls a family meeting and gives him a to-do list. Starting out, he tries to find the easy way out which really makes everything harder. Yet in the end, he discovers adventure is to be had in all the silly and messy places! This is a great early reader for the most stubborn children that just might learn a lesson from Splat's mistakes... More fun for all!

Splat has been given a list of chores, which many kids can relate to. And like most kids, Splat would much rather be playing video games. He learns, with a little help from his parents, that being responsible doesn't have to be a complete drag, in fact it can be fun.

I'm not sure kids will buy the message, but it's a cute story and kids who like cats will pick up the book. The book could also be used as an example of choosing different words to replace "said" in dialogue.

Cute, but I don't know... Make chores fun by imagining they're fun? I don't know many kids able to self-manage themselves THAT much. I don't have a child to test it on, though??

Also I would worry about making him re-water the plants. They can be overwatered, you know!

Art is fantastic! Paper version is a bit flimsy, though. I don't know if the hardback is much better, but I imagine it would stand up to abuses better. (That version might not be given away for free with Chick-Fil-A promotions, though, and left in a free library like two copies of this were.)

This is actually the first Splat the Cat book that I have liked. This is for a younger reader, but thw words aren't too difficult for beginner readers. The story was cute and there was actually a lesson to be learned from this book. I would recommend this book to others.

Very, very cute story. Splat the cat now has home chores and finds a fun way to get them completed. Very funny! Great illustrations. Highly recommended for Gr. K-3.

This book was ok because I do not like cleaning up my room, and it's about Splat having a chart to clean up his room.

I love the original Splat the cat books, but the ones based on the TV show don’t hold a candle to the originals.

I think my kids (ages 3 and 5) related to Splat's reluctance to do a household job. They thought the story was really funny. They really liked the parts where Splat rushes through cleaning his room.

Pros: Let humor be the guide when you use this book as a way to introducing chores to your kids. As always, this Splat the Cat story offers a good story and fun characters.

My younger sister loves the Splat the Cat books so that is how I heard about them. This book is very cute and funny. It is simple so I would say it is perfect for kindergarteners and first graders. Splat learns after being forced by his parents to do his chores, that chores and helping out can be fun. Splat also shows a good example to listen to your parents.
