I'm hot as Vegas desert in the summertime. He's arctic, complete and utter ice.
I don't think past the end of the day. He has long term goals.
The adrenaline is like a spike in my veins. He doesn't seem to have a conscience, let alone a pulse.
I like him enough to stick around. He doesn't seem to care whether I live or die.
Neither one of us trust each other, and in a life of crime, that can be a huge issue.

Magnolia "Mags" Reynolds is no shrinking violet. Her innocence is taken away from her at a very young age. Since she can remember, she's been a ruthless criminal but she's managed to survive to see her twenty-fifth birthday.

Maxwell "Max" Cartier, an expert in his craft, enters her life shortly after a horrible tragedy leaves her adrift yet again. He doesn't want to be her lover or friend. He only wants her for one last job that will mean a fortune and his retirement.

The best laid plans are always the first to go awry, and their situation is no different. Both will have to learn the hard way there is no such thing as easy money when they are both merely devil's prey.

This is the first novel in a 2 part series. Neither book ends on a cliffhanger and book one will contain at least an HFN.

Devil’s Prey is a story that will suck you in and leave you wanting more. The story of Mags and Max was so well done. Mags is a girl who had her life chosen for her. It isn’t a life anyone would choose, she can’t get out of it but she makes the best of it until she meets Max and her world changes again. Only this time for the better. Or is it? Is Max just what Mags needs or will he lead her further into the darkness she is trying so hard to escape? Well you just have to 1click and find out. I dare you ;)

This isn’t a super dark story; to me it is more of a super suspenseful erotic novel with little hints of darkness. I haven’t mentioned yet that Max and Mags set fire to the pages of your e-reader. The sex is scorching and it will make you want to read more. Be sure and bring your b.o.b. and some extra batteries. You will need them. Highly recommend!

This book had a lot of potential. But unfortunately it missed the mark for me on many levels.
The main reason is that I had absolutely no connection to the characters. A lot of things came out contradictory, and that really put me off.
It was strange that Magnolia's POV was written in first person, yet Max's was third.
Basically it was really hard to get into this. The flow of the story was completely off, IMO.
I will say, that around the halfway mark, something totally unexpected came out, that really shocked the hell out of me. After reading a little more, another twist came into play. The turn of events was actually great, and got me back into the game. Unfortunately this was very short lived, and I didn't want to invest anymore time with these two.

I love everything Ms Chardou writes, but this one knocked me out! I think I started about 10pm. I was awake when my daughter and husband got ready and, and I don't remember how to say goodbye.!!!

I received an arc for an honest review
This is my first read by SE Chardou and it was a doozy I tell you that much right now.I didn't want to go to bed, I wanted to finish the book. However you need sleep to do every day life stuff. LOL

OK first when I was told this book was a dark romance I was like yeah I need something after the cry fest I just read. When I started I thought Magnolia "Mags" Reynolds was being neglected. Her mom forgot to pick her up/running late from school. I was like please I don't want to read about child abuse. Then when she described her house. I was like OK now she is a snotty rich kid. Boy was I ever so wrong.

Mags witnessed something a 13 yr old should never ever see. She was then taken 2 members of an MC club that her dad use to belong to. When I say taken I mean taken and was taught to do things sexual and physically. Those things are dark, dangerous and just giving me the chills thinking about it.

Mag met a guy names Maxwell "Max" Cartier. He worked for the "Devil". Max didn't know what he was getting into when he bought Mags. Oh he had a plan for her but turns out that plan didn't go exactly how he wanted it to go. See the things Mags endured didn't make her weak, and it didn't break her. It made her stronger and she thought about everything in every which way possible. Not only did Max know what Mags went through growing up with the MC club and their goons. He endured the same thing but more intense. No you don't read about what the characters went through. Max and Mags tell each other what had happened to them. Or should I say someone spilled it all out in the heat of rage.

Between fighting/hiding from

the mafia and the MC, Max and Mags fought their emotions for one another. It was to one point where Max would get Mags all worded up and then walk away. I was like what!!! You know how people talk when they are drunk? Well Max said some wicked things to Mags when he was pissed at her. When that flew out his mouth I had to re-read what I just read. Holy hell what in the world is going on? Huh?
Be prepared to read some intense sex scenes, some great knowledge of how mafia's and MC's work. It is like the author was a fly on the wall and managed to write it all down some how. Be ready for some jaw dropping, what did he just say, wait let me read that again parts as well. This book is very rich about what houses look like, clubs, how security details work. I wonder if she ever hot wired a car before LOL! If you are looking for M/M, M/F, M/M/F then this is the book for you. It has that, it has the mafia, it has an MC that is messed up beyond repair.
What I liked is that everyone is out for revenge. Now I want to know what would you do to exact revenge? How far would you go?

I must admit this is the first book by SE Chardou that I have read and I will go on record by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was asked to read this book for an honest review and was warned that it was a dark romance which I do not have a problem with.
I immediately liked the book from the get go, you immediately think the worst in the first chapters but then your prospective is all changed after you continue to read more. At first I felt Mag Reynolds was what I would call a typical “rich kid” and wondered Oh God what am I going to read but I was pleasantly mistaken
It transpires that Mags is a witness to something when she is 13, something no child so ever see in her life. Life is not great for her, things happen to Mags which I know if it happened to me at that age I would never recover. Here during this time we see some extremely dark times both physically and sexually, it took me a while to get over what I read and I actually had to stop reading for a while but I soon found I had to pick it up again as I wanted to know what happens next.

Mag then meets a guy called Max, Max has plans for Mag but you know plans are always made to be broken or changed and throughout this story you see that Max has to change those plans.
The one thing I love about Mag is she is a strong feisty character; she has had to be to survive. Max, well you can see in this book that he can sympathise with Mag about what she has had to endure as Max has gone through such the same thing. You do not read specifics but just by reading in between the lines you can tell he has had similar experiences and you do feel for him. The way the two actually talk to each other about their experiences I felt was really true.

There is so much in this book that will keep you reading more and more and yes there will be times when you will scream at the book but also other times where you will read and love it and want more. Yes there are some extremely intense sexy scenes; there is also a lot of insight into the Mafia and the MC’s and how they all work which I never knew before.

I believe that people who love Mafia, MC’s and Dark Romances will love this book, however, if you are looking for something out of the normal then you should try this book for yourself.

This was not the first book I have read by SE Chardou and trust me it will not be the last. Devil's Prey had me hooked from the start and didn't let me go until the end, even then it still has it's claws in me.

If you are expecting a cookie-cutter, everything-is-all-hearts-and-flowers than you have another thing coming. Devil'S Prey is different and no I don't mean, "Omg, this is horrible!" different I mean, "Omg, this book completely blew my mind!" different. It's dark, gritty, intense and at the same time it has moments that will melt your panties leaving you begging for a shamwow to clean up the mess you made.

Magnolia "Mags" Reynolds witnessed something no one should witness, especially a child. If that wasn't traumatizing enough the rest of her childhood into her teenage years would prove to be just as horrible. Did it break her? No it didn't. It made her tough, mean and jaded to say the least. She doesn't take crap from anyone...unless that person wants a bullet to the head.

Her life is thrown into a tailspin when she meets Maxwell "Max" Cartier. He propositions her for a job and everything starts to change. Once the hunters she and Max are now the hunted. Not only were they running from Dimitri Koslakov but they were also running from their growing attractions towards each other.

Devil's Prey will take you on a ride or emotions. One minute you feel like a dog in heat the next you are fearing for the lives of Max and Mags. It will captivate you, leave you guessing, make you laugh at times and leave you with puddle in your panties. Definitely a must read. So get your 1-Clicker ready and get ready to become the Prey.

Dance with the Devil is about accurate! These MC's are all the extremes put together. Mix that up with rivals like gangsters and mafioso goons and you have the makings of a dark, raw, and gut wrenching series.

It is hard to find love in this scenario. Our author has orchestrated a story that actually questions if love can survive under these circumstances. By love I mean love in general. Love felt by a child for parents and vice versa. Love between two lovers. Can love survive when trust is not to be had? Can love exist in an environment where the rules are to focus on money, revenge, power- and not on individuals and relationships.

The shocking things the MC's are willing to do in the name of their loyalty to the club is beyond normal comprehension. The appetites for danger, money, power and sex are insatiable. The sex can be perverted and our author gives us a clear and comprehensive view into this life.

I normally do not read MC type books, but Selene Chardou has weaved her magic on me and I have not been able to overcome my desire to follow these characters. These stories intertwine with previous ones she has written. The in-breeding between MC clubs and other underworld groups is worthy of a flow chart to keep all the relationships straight. And I am still hooked! If you like your stories on the edge, dark, and thrilling, then this series is for you. You should also check out other books by Selene Chardou so you can get the full impact of the club life.

~~I received this in exchange for an honest review~~

OK, so, I'm not going to lie, I started reading this as a job. However, when I got into it (chapter 2 for me)I was no longer reading this as a job. I was reading this for fun. True, it has situations that I don't prefer, but it is tastefully written, and there was only one scene. This is the first ever book that I have read by SE, and I can tell you with a certainty that it is not going to be the last.

Devils Prey is completely different than any book that I have ever read. First off, how on earth does one know so much about one thing? In this case it is motorcycle clubs (MC). The way that they conduct business, and the types that they conduct the business with. This book as a mix of mafia, MC, mob, Vegas, off shore accounts and mysterious reasons why people end up dead. But most importantly is the twist that I never saw coming. Man oh Man, my jaw dropped when I read it.

If you like the danger of MCs the mafia, and Vegas then I highly recommend this book. If you don't, then I highly recommend this book. If you are out looking for a read that has a mix of danger, suspense, and twists, then I highly recommend this book. Hell lets face it, I highly recommend this book to anyone that can read (over 18 of course due to suggestive content). SE has a new fan, and you can guarantee that I am going to be stalking her pages until the next one comes out!!

This is one of those books that has so much going on, you just have to jump in, strap on your seatbelt and enjoy the bumpy, crazy, wild ride.
Hitmen, hitwomen, nasty bikers, Russian mob, Italian mob, abduction and rape of young women...there is so much to this book that I was overwhelmed at a few points, but pretty much enjoyed the read (as much as you can enjoy a violent and at times sadistic, mind-blower of a story) and tried to follow all the players carefully to keep up.
This author writes so many characters into her books that I sometimes lose track of who, what and why...but the stories are inventive, sexy and tense with a strong sense of family loyalty to go along with all the backstabbing.
If you like mafia or biker books (or both together), then this is the one for you and you will probably enjoy the book as much as I did. It also contains quite a bit of drug and alcohol use, violence and some very HOT and kinky sex scenes (M/F/M) as well as the usual M/F romance with a twist. Nothing is what it seems to be...don't believe everything you've been told...love is fleeting and fluid and might not be what you think and above all, never trust anyone. Pretty much sums up this first book in the series and I will dive into Devil's Pawn, the second one as soon as I catch my breath from this one.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first SE Chardou book. I was given it by the author for an honest review.
What I Liked:
The Mafia/Motorcycle Club ties. I love MC books anyway and then throw the Mafia in with it...explosive!
Max and Magnolia - They were strong, sexy characters. Each of them brought out a range of emotions as I read. While they struggled with their inner demons, their love for each other and their humanity was still intact. I liked that SE wrote such a complicated couple in to this story.
The sex was HOT! I didn't know if these two were gonna get it on or take each other out! Intense!!
It kept my interest. I couldn't put my Kindle down, I wanted to know what was going to happen!
I liked that the story went back and forth between both Mags and Max's POV.

What I Didn't Like:
The describing of eye color as much as it was. Every time they looked at each other, their eye color was mentioned - "her pale green eyes" "his blue-green eyes". It was a little much.
There wasn't as much dialog as I would have liked. Most of the book was either main character's thoughts.

I will definitely be reading Book 2 so I can find out what happens with Max and Mags.

I received an ARC for an honest review, and I have to start out by saying WOW!!!  This series is going to be EPIC!!!  It is a throw back to Selene's earlier work.  You have detailed characters and learn a lot about them.  She cut back on overall detail in the novel so that the reader is not overwhelmed and is able to focus on the story.  The characters develop and flow nicely with the story and it is natural not forced.  I was captivated by the start and loved every minute of it.  I am so impressed by this book and am seriously jonesing for the next!  it is a superb read and OMG will you be blown away!!!

This is the first book that I have read by SE Chardou. I really liked this book and I read it in 1 day. This is a dark story and Magnolia "Mags" parents were murdered and Mags was raped & abused at a very early age. And, Mags has been trained as a killer. She meets Max (Maks)and they join together and then become the Devil's Prey. Oh there is a WARNING: This is a dark romance with a hot alpha male, an anti-TSTL heroine and steamy good times. Due to explicit language, violence, adult situations, scenes involving m/m/f and m/f, alcohol and drug use, this novel is recommended to adults that can separate fiction from reality. Can't wait for the next book.

I have tried starting this book about 5-6 times and one of the "I can't wait for" books has been released so it's been bumped to the back of the kindle... I finally started it the other day, and once I got going I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Heaps of twists and turns and loads more questions than answers, but no cliffhanger (not really...) and a second book coming soon, thank god!
The beginning was a little slow, but it picked up the fairly quickly, although I did find it jumped around a bit...

This book had a great story line but the relationship between Max and Meg just went from hate to love just to fast for me. There was no build up and it just fell flat for me. This was a ok read but not one I would read again. I hope the next one in the series is better relationship wise. The story line is great just the relationship build up needs work. Lots of action and twist. Rated very good for story line.... only good for everything else

I liked the what the author was trying to do story wise, thought it had promise but it fell flat with using complicated language, background thoughts that I felt made the writing messy.
I also thought conversations between the characters weren't very engaging, felt forsed and didn't flow nicely.
