Welcome back into the mind and heart of young teen, Alex Davenport as, once again her abilities take her through the mirror and into the past to assure that history is not changed. Alex has her own issues in the present, insecure feelings, boys, making new friends, wanting to be accepted, worrying over all the things girls worry over. Add to that, her “abilities” to time travel and the fact that she must keep this a secret, her plate is full to overflowing. Thank the stars for her best friend, a girl kind of like Tigger, always bouncey, happy and loyal to a fault, and she believes and journals every one of Alex’s trips through time.

Twisted Reflections by Shay West adds new adventures and, yes, danger for Alex, as the evil time traveler, Drifter is on to her and somehow she must thwart his attempts to skew history. Imagine Alex’s surprise to find another traveler, fighting to save history! He is far more knowledgeable than Alex, because he has a guide, one of the few not killed off. Poor Alex wings it, running on pure instinct and a sense of right and wrong. Time is running out for Alex as she travels back to ancient Egypt as a young Queen to King Tut. Is there even more to Alex’s powers than she knows? How can she learn to control what she can do, once she figures out just what that is? Wouldn’t a guide of her own be kind of helpful right now?

Shay West ripped me out of reality and into Alex’s world with ease and I was happy to go! She has put more “lifelike” personality into Alex than ever! Fast-paced and gracefully intertwining the past and present for Alex, this is pure entertainment that will open a world of fantasy and “what-ifs” for YA and younger readers! Another gem from an excellent author! Another reason to create avid readers out of kids!

I received this copy from Shay West in exchange for my honest review.

I was very much excited when I received the news from the Publisher that I will be receiving an e-ARC of Twisted Reflections after I reviewed the first book, Dangerous Reflections (click here for the review). I'm really interested to see how things go for Alex in this book.

This one did not disappoint. I got to see how Alex handles her "gift" and continues to fight off the Drifter. There were new characters too. I think the addition of Sean and Gavin's characters were very wise and helpful for the story.

I loved the action in this book. I think it's more action-packed than the first one. I also liked the places where Alex made her little "trips". Egypt and Sparta are pretty cool and I think these places emphasized Alex's strengths and her being a "badass." Although, Alex's character kind of annoyed me in some parts of the book, but I think it's just Alex being a teenager.

Shay West's writing is absolutely spot-on. She knows how teenager's minds work and I really like it.

Overall, the book really got to me easily. The cover was really pretty, the characters were written well. I loved it more than I loved the first one. This is a great follow up to Dangerous Reflections and I hope the third one will be as action-packed, or maybe more, as this one.

First let me say I thought the cover of the first book was gorgeous. The second one is equally gorgeous.

In this sequel to "Dangerous Reflections” we find Alexis Davenport’s life is beginning to look up. In the first book she and her mother had to move into her aunt’s guest house because her father deserted them and cleaned out the bank account while he was at it. She has survived her first year of high school and being bullied. She has a gorgeous boyfriend named Drake and her mom is actually letting her date, in a way. She’s not allowed to go to dances, she’s not allowed to get her learners permit, and she is spending a lot of time working for her aunt. Her social life is beginning to go down the tubes. Worse than all of that is the Drifter is trying even harder to kill her. In this book Alexis meets someone like her and finds a way to travel to Scotland so that she can meet this boy and his master. She’s after some answers since she has learned that she has no master. Who is the Drifter and just what is his or his master’s ultimate goal? I was really surprised by a couple of things that occurred in the book. I was shocked by the way it ended. I flipped the page and realized there was no more. Talk about a cliff hanger. It was tied up neatly enough; there were just several questions I wanted answered.

Okay, this book was a continuation of the previous book, Dangerous Reflections. I was also given this ebook in exchange of an honest review, and an honest review it shall be. YES, AN HONEST REVIEW.

This book follows the story of Alexis, who can travel back in time to kind of "save" the day. Based on the previous book, there seemed to always be this evil guy that's been traipsing through time, ruining different events. Everytime, Alexis gets sent back to the same time as him, and had to save the day. Though, her previous attempt at time-travelling, she died. She was thrown into a void, but for unknown reasons, she managed to force her way back into her body. So, this time, when she was thrown back to the Egyptian time, she finally saw a traveller, like herself. Sean, though, has a Master to guide him through everything. FINALLY, she has some help regarding this Travelling thingy.

OKAY, I DO NOT LIKE THIS BOOK. THERE, I SAID IT.

But this is not just a rant, I really do not like this book, not the story line, not character. ESPECIALLY the character, Alex. Firstly, is it me, or was she super whiny throughout the whole book? I mean, I loved her in the first book, because she got past all that whiny stage about how her friends got everything that she did not. I get it that the author wants to portray her as similar to a typical teenage girl, but seriously, barely five minutes into the book, I was already simmering with anger. I think it got way too much for me. For some reason, the whole book was written in the whole teen angst kind of language. I mean, honestly, what happened to that amazing story line I read in the first book? Stop already, really, please fix her up or something. Stop with the whole "oh my God, my mom doesn't allow me to have a life, to have this, to have that." GROW. UP. DONE.

Secondly, the love triangle. (YES, this might be a bit of a spoiler, so please stop reading if you don't want spoilers.) I mean, come on, I am TOTALLY cool with the whole "liking someone else but still in a relationship" in books nowadays, but I think that only justifies it when the male character is a jerk. But for this book, that is like the other way around. I mean, HOW CAN YOU STILL BE IN LOVE WITH BEAU and not even feel the least bit guilty about it? I have read most books like this, and at the very least, the girl knows the meaning of guilt. But not this girl. REALLY. I have way too much problem with her character, I am about to pull my hair out.

Thirdly, the story line. I am so DONE. For some reason, most of the book this time is based on Alex's freaking annoying whiny attitude, such that there was barely anything new about the time-travelling thing. Sure, there was progress here and there, but that's all. There's barely a climax. Where's the dangerous part that's supposed to make your heart beat fast? Where's the whole PROBLEM in this book? When it finally ended, I was stunned. Like, "wait WHAT."

Like I said, I am done. Give me a very good reason why I should attempt the last book.

Alexis Davenport's fortune has taken a change for the better but the tampering of historical events drags her back in time once again. Another time traveler lends aid and provides insight into her developing abilities. Meanwhile her old adversary is growing more desperate forcing Alexis to ask herself how far she is willing to go to stop him from altering history. This is the second book in the Adventures Of Alexis Davenport trilogy.

Twisted Reflections is a coming of age story with realistic characterization combined with exciting time travel adventures. It has a different rhythm and lacks the structure found in the first book. The new composition captures and enhances the transitional phase in Alexis' character development perfectly.

The timeline for this story is broken up more because there are larger gaps in between time travel opportunities. The additional downtime gives Alexis the chance to process everything that has happened since the first book. She has normal teenage problems, insecurities and adulthood aspirations but these are further complicated by her abilities.

With each summons back in time the danger increases for Alexis. It was pivotal moment when Alexis had to consider if she could kill to protect herself or even kill to preserve history. I liked that the story showcased Alexis' internal struggle to accept her abilities and the responsibilities entrusted to her. It was interesting to see how the continual anxiety of facing her dangerous adversary affected her.

I was excited to learn more about the story's depiction of time travel. I liked the introduction of knowledgeable new characters as well as the the development of Alexis' new abilities. I enjoyed reading the time travel portions of the story the most, these scenes were vivid and descriptive. They gave a wonderful sense of the location, time period and culture. I also liked that one of Alexis' improved abilities enabled the personality of the vessel she occupied to come through more.

I enjoyed reading Twisted Reflections, I loved it's ability to demonstrate a sense of growth in the main character while continually building up tension to the final book that promises to be a dramatic conclusion to the series.

Hello fellow readers!
Like book one in this series, I was given this book for free to read, in exchange for an honest review.
If you want to talk quick read, wow! I would have been able to finish it in one sitting, if I hadn't started it so late at night. It kept my attention the whole way through (though, I did have to re-read a page or two because I was confused about who was talking at one point). I do think that the story moved too quickly. I understand that it is about the time travel adventures of Alex, but it would have been nice to know more about the plays they put on, the development of her relationship with her friends/family, etc. It just seemed like it jumped from the beginning of the school year, to the end of the school year, to the beginning of the next within a few chapters.
Her travels in this book were very good. I did enjoy the details that were involved in telling those stories, the feelings she had when she saw the evil one, the fellow traveler that she meets, and the person she always feels the connection with (that character's name strangely always starts with a "C"---could mean something, could not). And the evil one's name is revealed and it was not at all who I thought it was! I love it when I get surprised like that! I can't wait to read the third book to see what happens next!
Okay, now, book one is 99c for the Kindle Edition and this one is $2.99. I see the lure of hooking someone with a cheap book one and asking for more for book two but, if it were a paperback it would be the same price. I'd pay full price for both if they were in the paperback format, I just think they should both be the same price for the digital version (either both 99c or both $2.99). I don't know, that's just me.

Twisted Reflections is an exciting time travel adventure filled with unexpected moments that will keep you on the edge and leave you yearning for more.

Alex has a gift, she is able to travel through a mirror to the past. She is struggling to gain control of her special ability and with the Drifter bent on changing the past it's more important than ever for Alex to figure it all out. The mysterious Egyptian girl has appeared again and Alex knows she must find out who she is because she senses the girl is in trouble. Alex hopes to uncover the truth about the girl before she is forced to travel again, but with Drifter on the lose that might not be possible. Forced to deal with the inevitable Alex travels to ancient Egypt, where she encounters another traveler like herself. Can her new friend help her sort things out and gain control of her power before Drifter and his Master destroy the past?

First, I have to say that I did not read the first book in the series, but was able to easily catch up without feeling lost. Twisted Reflections captured my attention from the get go. The absorbing mystery, well developed and effectively organized plot make for a pleasurable read. I liked Alex's character. She is a typical teen, worried about clothes, cell phones, and friends, but when she realizes it's up to her to stop Drifter she steps up, doing whatever it takes. She is strong willed and determined making her the perfect person for the life changing mission at hand.

Twisted Reflections is a captivating coming of age story and I recommend picking up a copy.

Twisted Reflections is the second book in the Adventures of Alexis Davenport Series. After really enjoying the first book, this one definitely does not disappoint! It is once again, filled with adventure and history as you read on. It begins where the last story left off. We continue on Alex's adventures as she still as her link to the past through mirrors. What I liked a lot about this story is the many elements - not only do we have Alex's time-travel adventures, encounters with another traveler she meets along the way, but we also have the challenges Alex faces in her everyday life. The book has such a great balance between her two worlds and how they conflict together at times.

Alex is definitely growing up in this book too and maturing, which I like being able to follow her character as she discovers more.
Alex is a very realistic character to read about, which I think readers of this will definitely enjoy. I liked the first book, but this one has even more development of characters and the plot is deeper and more involved than before. I enjoyed the twists that were in this book too. This story ends with a cliff-hanger which makes you want to read the next one right away! I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in Alex's adventures. Great sequel to a YA story with an interesting concept - it is fast-paced and makes you want to keep reading more and more. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun YA adventure with history. :)

*Thank you to NetGalley for my E-book copy of this great YA story!*

Original review

"So you're the little bitch that's been foiling my master's plans. This is getting very troublesome."

The Good
Well I really liked how Twisted Reflections throws Alex a loop...a new traveler named Sean. This new traveler has a master and claims that masters seek out travelers. Where the hell is her teacher right? Drifter does a great job helping you root against him. Really like that in a villain.

The Bad
The Ending for Twisted Reflections just kind of arrives out of nowhere. It didn't feel like a cliff hanger as much as it felt like the word cap was hit and it was time to start book 3.

The Romance
Ah the romance, we get to see her first date and her first kiss. But is her first love her true love? Heck is it love at all? Shall we call it a crush? Hormones? Temporary insanity?

Conclusion
Overall I thought this was a great YA book. The adventure was enjoyable, the characters relatable and the villain hateable. This is a series I can see myself re-reading in the future just because I liked the characters and the concept. I just wish the ending of Twisted Reflections didn't feel so rushed.

I received this ebook to read in exchange for an honest review. Receiving this book in no way influences or changes my opinions.
Everything I loved about book 1 is present and continued in this book. I loved it just as much as book 1. It had the same excellent blend of real life teen-aged drama and fantasy with the time traveling. It is excellent (and intended) for young readers, as well as adult readers like me. I loved that this book introduced us to another “good” time traveler. Alexis deals with more boy angst, but as a teen girl this fits perfectly with the real life teen drama parts. Book 2 ends with me wanting me to know what happens to Alexis and hoping she finds that “perfect” someone to lessen that boy drama. Hints indicate that maybe she will (or that she already has the guy for her in her life), but that is just my assumption and hope; and I will just have to wait and see in book 3. Lucky for me book 3 was released this week (September 2014)! The sequel definitely lived up to and carried on the story of book 1. It is a book I am sure to reread in the future.

This is a fantastic YA book that picked up right where Dangerous Reflections left off. I am absolutely in love with this series and have flown through each book in a matter of hours. If this is an example of what is to come, Shay Fabbro has a definite fan in me. These books were awesome! I also love (and hate) the cliff hanger at the end of each book. She really knows how to keep you hanging and waiting for the next book! I love Alexis and her moms relationship. It is so authentic. The was Alex goes through normal teenage drama is told in a completely realistic way. Highly recommend BOTH books as well as any future books in the series.

** A free copy of the book was provided in exchange for an honest review. **

This story picked up right where the first book left off. I enjoyed that the main character is starting to come into her own with becoming a stronger person in confidence and determination and adjusting to her "special gift". The attitude is spot-on and serves as a reminder that a teenager, and a girl at that, is the one dealing with the pressure of the unknown, maintaining the proper history timeline, and day-to-day life.

Detailed Review: *I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review*

I was immediately transported into Alex's world from the first page. I think what is the most important element in a sequel are the characters. They should stay the same and shouldn't change at all unless they had a reason to.

I was glad to find that nothing had really changed in the characters, which could have potentially hampered my enjoyment of the book.

You might ask, 'What was so good about this book?'

The fact that this book is not just a normal time-travel book that actually follows the conventions of the genre, it is also a contemporary that deals with more than just saving the world.

There are first loves, family problems, sudden changes and peer problems too, that adds to the mix of being able to time-travel. I might have mentioned them in my review of the first book of the series.

There were two new characters in the story: Seth and his Master Gavin. They certainly were original characters and it was great to see Alex finally getting some help, although it was frustrating when they couldn't give her answers on how to defeat Drifter.

Speaking of Drifter, I honestly really dislike him, which I'm sure was the intended response of the reader.

He is the embodiment of evil.

Don't even speak to me about his Master. I abhor him.

Every single time I read about him, I always shout curse words at him mentally, because I would kill anyone who insults history, ESPECIALLY those who want to change it.

Can't people see how important history is? If you change the events of the past, then you will change the future.

And if the past doesn't happen, mankind will never learn from their mistakes. The past happens so that we won't repeat the past.

I think I shall have to send this little speech about changing the past to the author and ask her to forward it to Drifter and his Master.

And as you have heard me say so many times, there are bound to be plot twists and some really surprising connections, for it to be a five-star book.

Connections as in: the enemy may be closer than you think.

Technically what I want to say about this book, which is pretty amazing, has already been mentioned in my review for the first book, Dangerous Reflections.

If you want to read about my further opinion on the first book, Dangerous Reflections, click HERE.

Detailed Review: Twisted Reflections rivals with other time-travel books to reach the top. But I assure you, it has already done so. Now all the author needs to do is add more plot twists in the next book and more secrets to be uncovered!

Final Rating: 5/5 'Totally Amazing!'

Note: I was provided a copy of this book for review

Twisted Reflections is the second book in the Adventures of Alexis Davenport series and one that offers up a bit more information in the mystery that is Alexis Davenport and why she may have been chosen to stop someone messing with history. Alexis meets another traveller like herself during one of her trips who tries to help guide her on what her role may be. Their chance meeting gives Alexis an opportunity to gain more insight into her gift and realise just how important her mission is.

The novel covers a longer amount of time, but does jump forward most of it, skipping a lot of the school year. There is less importance placed on the Catelyn/Beau drama of the first book, and while there seemed to be a tense build up to the new school year West chooses to skip most of it instead, choosing to focus more on the summer holidays and Alexis’ relationship with her mother and friends.

Once again I felt that the time travelling aspect was a better read than the other parts in terms of story, style, and character, and though while some of the parts that faulted last time are improved, other issues develop and some are just redirected. Alexis again comes across as petulant and whiny, and she is certainly petty and jealous, but I’m starting to see that’s just who she is. But considering how much better she is when she is travelling it’s hard to see her as the same personality, though admittedly sometimes it slips through.

The writing and narrative is not perfect but the story is interesting and keeps you reading. The real intrigue comes from the time travelling parts where West writes curious and fascinating versions of historical moments and points in time. You forget any issue you had with the other parts and become involved with the period of time and the story it involves. The concept West has created is engaging and intriguing, with enough mystery and variability to keep you guessing and eager to find out, but not slow enough that it becomes predictable.

The ending is also once again very well done. It manages to bring the story to a new level and natural progression that adds a twist and a surprise to the reader while also offering more information and making you eager for the next book.

As if Alex didn't have enough to deal with, the evil prescence that precedes her into the past now definitely wants to kill her. This time she discovers something new though; another traveller.

I was once again immersed into Alex's world as she tries to balance friendship, work and boys with her supernatural time travel powers. The threat to her life is becoming more apparent, and her powers are also growing as she realises she is capable of more than she expected.

In this, the second book in The Adventures of Alexis Davenport, we discover more about the evil men and Alex's worries keep on piling up. Admittedly, I kind of guessed a lot about who these people were so nothing really came as a shock to me as there were a few hints given out beforehand. I couldn't get over how brilliant this book would be for teens as the pace is very fast and it has all of the same worries that young adults do at that age. However, this does begin to verge on the more adult side as it delves into sex, stress and work.

Alex as a character hasn't really grown too much in this book. Sometimes it even feels as if she takes one step back in her development as she begins to make the same mistakes that she did in the first book, especially towards the end of the story.

As always, the historical part was really interesting. This time Alex takes a trip to Ancient Egypt, Thebes and 1980's Scotland, so it's pretty varied! She is an important figure in both of the ancient places she is taken to, being Tutunkhamun's queen and a Spartan Princess, and finds herself in situations that some of us may recognise from history.

There are a few things that I am just dying to see happen. Again, the story is pretty easy for me to suss out, but perhaps a teenager will simply enjoy the reading rather than get dragged into thinking things through too much. I am wondering whether I will be right again, so I can't wait to get my hands on the final book.

I love this series. It is so readable, interesting and very enjoyable despite my small issues. This book sets up perfectly for the finale.

Read the full review at Tales Between the PagesI'm conflicted about Twisted Reflections. It is just as good as Dangerous Reflections but I think that it is too short. A YA book at 190 pages just isn't long enough to develop the plot. Book at that length are generally for middle-grade readers. In truth, the plot of Twisted Reflections could have been tacked on to the end Dangerous Reflections quite easily. Or, perhaps, split between Dangerous Reflections and the third book, Desperate Reflections. Since current YA trends are geared toward trilogies, Shay West might have felt some pressure to produce a trilogy when she might have only had enough plot for two books. Because Twisted Reflections is so short, it feels quite rushed. The school year flies by in a few chapters. The ending also feels rushed.

Also, I want to express my pet peeve with books set during present times that have villains with names that sound like they should be in a bad fantasy novel. Lane Stygian seems too forced. I know she held a contest and this was the winner ... but I can't help but want a last name that you might actually run across in Chicago and not in Rivendell.

Nevertheless, Twisted Reflections is an exciting read. Alexis grows as a character. The conflict between Alexis, her mother, and her aunt comes to a head. Though, I had to roll my eyes a little when Alexis's mom automatically assumes the answer is drugs when she starts noticing changes in Alexis. That feels like a cop out. She and her mother have a close relationship. Usually when you're that close there's at least some benefit of the doubt happening. The overly-strict parent is an archetype that I'd like to see go by the wayside anyway.

Review was originally posted on: http://gailreadsbooks.blogspot.com/20...

I decided to push through with this series because I absolutely enjoyed the first book, Dangerous Reflections. So thank you for sending me an e-copy of the second book, Booktrope!

You could say I had pretty high expectations when I started Twisted Reflections. Having been left with the gripping story of a fifteen-year-old girl and her time-traveling adventures, I craved for more thrilling escapades with Alex. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with this book.

Like Dangerous Reflections, the second book in this series maintains its easy-read feel, while keeping its vivid descriptions, as a great narration of the story is essential to the book. I had no problem with how time travel was illustrated; the different settings were described wonderfully, as if I really were at those times in history. The writing did not exceed its tone.

What bothered me was the convenience that seemed to surround Alex. As stated in the blurb, she meets another Traveler, but it all went too fast after that. I would have preferred to see conflict between them, not an instant understanding between people with the same gift. This Traveler seemed to have all of the answers to Alex's problems. After reading that, I expected more thrilling adventures for Alex, but sadly they all remained in a moderately exciting level.

Also, I understand that Alex is a fifteen-year-old, but she finally crossed the line this time. She can come off as whiny and bratty, but I think character traits should be something a reader can relate to. I was annoyed by her instead. This was why I favored her life when she traveled than her life as herself. I would have wanted to see more of her travels, too.

I am still going to continue this series because I want to know the fate of Alex, especially with Drifter's identity slowly being uncovered. I do hope Desperate Reflections will be much better.

Hm. I don't know about this one.
There wasn't anything wrong with this novel, it just didn't pull me under like the first book of the series.

I want to start off by saying that i'm a little disappointed. To be honest, it felt like reading Dangerous Reflections again.
The plot didn't move on at all, i could just have skipped Twisted Reflections and not miss out on anything important.

Whiny teenagers, annoying crushes and bore-some scenes; Drama. Where's the time traveling?! All that happened was Alexis whining about her free time and being a typical annoying teenager.
I couldn't stand her throughout the book.

I was hoping that there would be more action in this novel, nope. I got more crying teenagers instead.

!!minor spoilers ahead!!

Now i'd like to mention something that just doesn't add up.
During one of Alexis' adventures through time, in Dangerous Reflections, she got cut on her arm. When she returned to her own timeline the cut was also present on her own body.
BUT. When she went to Sparta, in Twisted Reflections, she battled the ''bad guy'' and got sliced up pretty badly. And yet, when she returned to present time, her body was completely fine.

Also during her adventures in Sparta, she was bleeding to death. But she was thinking of her love life. what? Why?
You don't think about your love triangle while being naked and bleeding to death in the middle of a street while your enemy is a few feet away from you!
Gosh.

I think this novel was a little boring. I'll give this book 2 1/2 stars.
I'd recommend it to younger readers, let's say from the age of 12 to 15.
Definitely give it a try if you're into teen drama. I can't stand that kind of stuff, but not everyone likes the same cup of tea.

That was all! Lots of luck,
Bee

*Disclaimer: I read this e-book as part of a review. I received this book for free, in exchange for an objective review. This did not effect my opinion in any way.

I enjoyed this book. I highly recommend this book for young adults (I am a Mom, also), as well as other age groups.

I enjoyed reading about Alex's Time Travel's, and her ability to change certain events of the past for the better. I liked seeing the moral and age transitions in Alex as she faced numerous dilemmas in each time travel. Each was a 'coming-of-age' story-in-itself. Each time traveling adventure was handled with grace and growing maturity. Her character evolved intellectually and emotionally, as should be expected. The character development was superb.

I did find some parts difficult to take, as they were very 'teenage oriented'. But, in retrospect, these parts also made me chuckle at old experiences I have seen other teens go through.

Again, I savored every journey with the greatest enthusiasm. I did not have the luck of reading the other books by this author, but I do hope to. I recommend this book for all age groups, and do indeed endorse this for young adults.

I received this book in return for an honest review.

This book was so amazing! It's not often you get a sequel that is almost as good as the first book and keeps you wanting even more. You get to see Alexis blossom from being so shy to actually having a backbone now! Friendships get tested, hearts get broken. You name it. Still an awesome book. I love all the characters and how they keep developing so you know more and more about them and get attached. I have to admit, Alexis sure is weaving a tangled love triangle web, and all I can think is "giiiiiirl, you best leave that boy alone." Haha. And it's true. I don't see what she sees in Beau! I think her gift has fried her brain. Lol. I hope she doesn't leave her boyfriend though. He seems like a good guy and seems to put up with a lot more than any other guy's their age would.
I was once again lost and jaw dropped when I saw it was another cliff hanger! Gonna start on book 3 right away.

Despite not liking how Alex behaves, it's a captivatig time travel read. I loved her joy when she got a new house with her mum, with pretty furniture and her own bathroom. Her friend gets jealous which I understood, because all too often people can see the good parts of your life and not realise a lot of anguish accompanies the perks.

Boy does Alex hae a lot of issues. I'm not saying what thy are, but I will say she acts like a brat during some of them. I understand she is scared and confused, not just about the time travel which is really cool, but about normal teen issues. Thankfully one issue gets resolved by the end, but there are several which makes me eager for book 3. Hormones aside Alex is quite illogical, which makes it harder for me to like her - I'm more of an emotions girl -but there's somethig about the story that has me hooked even when I think she is being ridiculous.

Shay West continues an action-packed adventure with Twisted Reflections. This book is a perfect follow-up to Dangerous Reflections. It picks up in the perfect spot and launches the reader right back into the complicated world of Alexis Davenport.

Even more so than the first book in the series, I could really tell how much Alex has evolved as a character. Shay West does a fantastic job with character development, and Twisted Reflections is a testament to that. A lot of new elements are introduced into her life, and the lapse between time traveling gives the reader a perfect chance to experience how Alex handles her extraordinary life.

The ending was very fitting, and I cannot wait to continue this amazing series. Shay West has outdone herself with Twisted Reflections, and I cannot wait to watch her grow even more as a writer.

I received a free uncorrected proof advanced reading copy (ARC) in an ebook format through the LibraryThing Early Reviewer Program.

*Disclaimer- I have not read volume 1*

Despite not having read the first book, the author sums up the significant parts of the first book quite well. Alexis looks in mirrors, sees someone else in it, and knows she will end up time-traveling. Unfortunately, she has no control over this.

In her first adventure in this book, she has a first: she meets another time-traveler and he knows things she doesn't. He's also from a different era, so how will she learn more from him? Will he be able to help her defeat the evil following her?
