The journey continues for Ben, his son Joel, Joel’s classmate Allie, and their dog Gunner as they struggle with the harsh realities of this dangerous new world.
Forging their way past countless obstacles both natural and manmade, they slowly make their way across the country, never knowing where they will sleep, or what challenges lie ahead. But the drive to reunite with family pushes them toward the East Coast.
Setbacks wait around every turn. Ben and his crew must adapt and overcome, honing their survival skills as they are repeatedly forced to fight for their lives.
Will Ben’s army training get them to their loved ones in time? Or will the dark road take its toll?
I can't believe this series receives the high ratings it has received. Nothing interesting happens, there is virtually no tension, the author goes into too much detail into the weaponry and most of the "action" is focused on the long drive and stopping for gas ... it's a big bore. The whole scenario is unrealistic: they rarely run into people (everyone seems to be hiding - WHY?) unless they are evil-doers out to loot or kill them for their supplies; it is incredibly easy to obtain gasoline at any roadside station simply because they found a key that universally unlocks all underground gas station tanks; the 2-dimensional kids are impossibly perfect; Ben is the perfect super-soldier and smarter than McGiver; etc. There were a few scenes that almost generated excitement, but the author gets bogged down with describing the details and ruins the potential action.
I found myself a bit disappointed with this Book #4. It seems as though they are getting shorter and really impacts the continuity of the story. There are still a lot of writing errors...you tell a dog to "heel" and not "heal". I will probably continue to book 5 having made it this far and hope it is longer and improves.
zoals eerder aangeven lijkt het of de vertaling door ai is gedaan of anders iemand die niet goed of in het Engels. soms is het een op een vertaald zover rekening te houden met de grammatica.
personages blijven vlak een niet echt interessant.
When I first downloaded the first book, Breakdown, I looked forward to a good read, and Bruno Miller did not disappoint. I enjoyed the character development the most-that's a deal breaker for me. He does a great job of keeping the reader invested, which is why I quickly got the rest of his books and waited a little impatiently for Fallout to be released! Been, Joel, Allie and Gunner are a great group. The kids are coping well with their current situation and the changes in the world as they head east from Colorado to Pittsburgh to try and locate Allie's dad then on to Maryland to retrieve Ben's younger children, ex and her father. This book ended much too quickly-waiting for the next book in a good series is a bummer!! But I'm really looking forward to it. Definitely a series to read!
I don’t know how I feel about this series, honestly it’s only been 1.5-2weeks since everything happened and even though I believe bad people would try to take over right away I do believe it would of taken more time for them to get this organized!
These guys are also so lucky all the time come up against not 1 bad group of people but 2 in this book, and each time they not only come out on top but without a single scratch on them 🤷♀️
The animals acting strangely again I don’t think would happen to this degree this Fast! Over time 💯!
Still were yet to seen any big emotions even with all these near death experiences each book.
Things are just to easy

Unbelievably two dimensional post apocalyptic survival story plagued by a lack of action. Joel and his friend Ally are high school students and teenagers who, although it’s the end of civilization and desperate times, are not even holding hands or swearing or using any slang and they are as obedient as their well trained dog Gunner. Joel’s dad Ben, a former army ranger and prepper, is completely prepared for the apocalypse. He has guns and ammo, camping gear and even prepper dried food. Gunner mixes it up with a wolf but other than that not much else happens. Oh, they blow up a Teslafied truck with some dynamite they just happened to find. Yawn.

The Fallout Series pulled me in within the first few pages. And it hasn't let go yet! Mr. Miller has a way of writing that sucks you in ... and keeps you flipping pages as fast as you can read. You feel like you're sitting in the Blazer right next to Ben, Joel & Allie experiencing first hand what they're going through. When you read the last page of the book, you feel bereft - knowing you have to wait for Bruno Miller to complete his writing, wait for the editor to add their edits, etc. I ask again - Mr. Miller - can you write faster??
Than the last book in the series. Kind of short: you could combine two or three and have a shorter series. The climax drama is still pretty weak; I wanted to see who was in that tow truck and what their game was. It got dealt with too quickly and easily. A few incongruous details still crop up, like the two ducks at the end of the last book turning magically into three ducks at the beginning of this one. The care of Gunner’s wound was correct; good job on that. Thank you for NOT having a bite wound be sutured. A lot of authors of the is genre get that wrong.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest Ben, Joel, Allie, and Gunner continue on their journey to reunite w/ their loved ones. With every danger that they encountered, it just made them even more stronger as an individual and as a group. They could have just given up, but onward they go. I loved the storytelling + the characters It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Well book 1 was a people who bought this also bought this suggestion and it was free so I thought why not even if I don't like it's free and I love dystopian genre movies and shows. Well stupid me decided about 10pm to start on book 1 next thing I known it almost 1am so of course I got book two to start for the weekend here it is almost 10pm sat and I have read all 5 books available and am needing the next installment of the Dark Series. This should be a tv show or movie.
My only complaint is the length of these books. They are too short and all together could make one really long novel or two decent length ones. I love the characters and the storyline. The two teens have a tiny love story and the dog adds an amusing background. Eager to see where this is going but worried that with only one book left in the series there will not be time for a satisfactory conclusion.
I am enjoying these. I do find his musing pretty sexist… Ben’s about Allie. Oh look she can drive well. Oh look she is thinking ahead. Oh look… I guess to be fair, he’s assessing, but it does make him sound pretty arrogant that and, some really unnecessary typos that weren’t fixed detract some (homonyms). That said, this story is interesting and I do want to know what happens. Yes Ben is probably a Mary Sue, but he probably does know all that shit in real life.

While YA readers probably preer these shorter books, I prefer read such small sections in a longer book. There are enough problems involved to keep the reader engaged and the writing flows well. It makes me wonder how many readers pick up on the real possibility of ever encontering such an initial event and then being ready, if anyone could be.
Bruno Miller sure knows how to get you hooked on a series. His Dark Road series is a must read... I can't seem to get enough. I need to know how Ben, Joel and Allie make it to their family, and let's not forget the ever faithful Gunner. What a wonderful dog! Can't wait for book 5......
Each book in the Dark Road series seems to be better than the one before, and Fallout is no exception.
I'm really enjoying seeing the characters develop and grow as their journey across post apocalyptic America continues, and the gritty realism and dark tone of Bruno's style suits the theme perfectly.
Bruno Miller has hit another one our of the park. Fallout is a very realistic depiction of a fathef, son and friend traveling cross country after an AMP to find family members who may be in danger or worse. I like the characters a lot including Gunner the dog. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
Road Dystopian. EOTWAWKI. Korea nuclear attack emp. Small town out near Colorado ... now headed to Pittsburg. Youtube free audiobook under the title of 'Road Dystopian' second story ended at 7 hours 14 minutes of 20 hours 6 minutes. Next book 'Resistance' (Dark Road #3). This book 'Fall Out' (Dark Road #4). starting at 10 hours 56 minutes.
The series is weighed down with more introspection than action and the implausible pace of society's unraveling. I find it hard to believe that within a week of the power going out the gangs have completely taken over. There's still enough going on that I'm willing to give it time but it's becoming harder to download the next book in the series.
This author has written a pretty good series. However, I do find some flaws with how he’s portrayed the Midwest in the summer and a few other minor details. Also, again as I’ve said in other reviews for these books, super short. Not even sure I’d call them books at this point. These first 4 books together are basically one actual book.
Overview: Ali, Joel, and Ben continue their trek toward Pittsburgh, with the story concluding in Indiana as they abandon their truck to source parts for an unexpected repair. Along the way, major plot points include a tense encounter on an island with quarry workers, a dangerous clash between Gunnar and a wolf, and a high-stakes pursuit by a modified truck intent on running them off the road.

Can’t wait for the next book to come out. Fantastic storyline. His books are great. Hope the next book comes out fast. And that the three of them find a fuel pump. I’m going to go crazy waiting for the next one . Great reading you have to read this series.
I am really enjoying this series. Well written with great characters! The story flows well from chapter to chapter. An AMP has been detonated over the U.S. Will our. Characters make it to the East Coast from Colorado get to Amazon and start reading
This is another great installment of the Dark Road series. There is action, adventure, and even a little hint at romance. I can't wait for the next book. I've become attached to Ben, Joel, and Allie. I want to see how things are going and what happens next.
I was really looking forward to this book, because I loved the first three, but I was disappointed. This didn't seem to be a complete novel in a series, but chapters for a serial.
I really enjoy this series. The anticipation just keeps building. I was afraid that the issues that the main characters faced would repeat as they continued their trek, but each problem is new. I am ready for the next book.
Ben, Joel, Allie, and Gunner are making progress in their trip going east. The journey is filled with so many perils seen and unseen from animals, birds, to predatory people. The weather is another serious factor. The road trip continues. Very good 👍 series.
I've enjoyed all three books so far, but they are far too short. All three would just about make one good book. At $3 a pop, I won't be buying the next in series unfortunately.
