I read this as research for my dissertation on the effects of the penal system for women.
It was an interesting read, it is a bit dated for today, however there is a lot that she discusses that still effect women in remand and prison today.
Peckham focuses mostly on remand which is where she spent five months out of the eight that she eventually was sentenced for. She discusses the dreadful conditions she experienced and shares stories of other prisoners that she came across during her sentence.
I found some of her comments irritatingly upper middle class, and the structure of her writing is a bit boggling although it is in chronological order. And I do love the index in the back so I can easily find particular topics she discusses.
