Jovie I'm desperate for a better life. Working two jobs isn't ideal, but it's the only way to save up for my ticket to the Alien Bride Race. Either I win a ton of credits, or I find a mate who actually wants me. I can't lose.
When my sister started dating my ex, I knew I was done with this planet, so I set my sights on getting off of it. I've been kicked out of my apartment for late rent. My car only starts when it wants. And my best friend stabbed me in the back, which is why I'm stuck scrubbing toilets at night instead of flipping burgers after my starship manufacturing shifts.
But I'm not prepared to handle the giant purple electric alien who snatches me up during the race. He's funny, smart, a bit of a prankster who keeps zapping me "by accident," and a muscled machine built for combat. But he's also at odds with his kind.
Prince Aurelius doesn't want to take me home. I can't see any reason they wouldn't want him. I definitely do.
Aurelius My Storm has been building since long before my father tried to match me. I'm just not interested in the affluent and entitled types he pushes. I want someone who's lived life on the edge.
I enlisted young to avoid my father and have been in the field with the soldiers in rogue orbit, guarding the perimeter around our motherships for signs of Novark, Denarso, and Nebulous Empire ships. When I rejected the last match he tried to make over the holofeed, he told me he never wanted to see me again. The elders are angry. My kind are disappointed.
I don't care.
I won't mate with someone I don't love or want. My kind has disregarded our Storms to maintain a hierarchy, and our numbers have declined in recent years. I don't think it's a coincidence.
After helping a friend under attack by bounty hunters and seeing him bond with his ABR match, I'm more eager for my chance to feel that connection. The trouble is, my father doesn't know I've entered the race. He doesn't think royalty should mate outside of our species.
His rules are suffocating. I want freedom. I want to feel the spark ignite like my ancestors once did.
The second my eyes fall on the curvy beauty charging out across the Alien Bride Race arena, I know this was the right decision. My Storm swells with a power that shocks even me. There's something special about her.
She's a sneaky female and slips my view a few times like she's playing with me. I like a challenge. And I'm eager to make her mine.
But I must figure out how I'm going to make peace with my kind. I want her to be safe, not hunted. If they don't accept her, we may have to go rogue forever. I just hope she doesn't hold it against me or worse, reject me.
A steamy, fast-love, science fiction romance with cursing, violence, and action.

This was a nice change of pace for a few hours, and I genuinely enjoyed it.
Rogue Orbit is the fifth book in the Alien Bride Race, where young women are treated badly. They escape with the hope of being free and finding someone to love
Beneath their tough exterior lies a big-hearted man who would do anything to keep her safe.
Human Jovie can fix just about any hydraulic system on the hulking vessels she maintains as part of her soul crushing, poorly paid job on earth. Living in her vehicle after her sister and former fiancé betrayed her, she’s saved enough to purchase a spot in the Alien Bride Race, hoping to find a life partner outside her species and galaxy, and a chance at a better life.
Amphiran Prince Aurelius prefers to be a Rogue over a Royal, and is doing everything in his power to distance himself from his ruthless father the king, who subjugates the masses in favor of the entitled few. His inner compass and conscience as well as his innate electrically charged Storm have him fixed upon a human mate, and he’s rejected all the prospective brides his father and council have put before him, so he’s entered the ABR as well.
Once arrived at the ABR facilities, Jovie and Aura are immediately drawn to each other, but there’s treachery afoot, both at the games and on their home worlds. The pair along with their trusted few comrades must work together to break the tyrannical forces bound and determined to crush the oppressed who seek to better themselves and those who come after. It’s a rich, nail-biting, action-packed epic novel of desire and determination, love and hope.
It’s part of a series, but it’s not at all necessary to have read the previous books to enjoy it as a standalone.
Bravo, Sybur Phyre, this was amazing. Some of the more technical stuff eluded me toward the end, like the fact that Allele was a being and not just a computer running a massive spacecraft, and the prospect of all those others! Being familiar with this author’s work, however, I trust there’s a method to this wonderful madness, and readers will be the lucky recipients in future books.
I was fortunate to have received an advance reader copy from the author, and I’m pleased to share my review.
He was made for war. She was built to survive. Together, they burn.
Aurelius, the exiled prince of a fractured alien empire, is running out of time. His Storm is growing unstable, and the only way to contain it is to find a true mate. But he's not interested in tradition, politics, or being used as a pawn. When duty pulls him into battle, he breaks every rule to protect the innocent, and ends up at the center of a galactic uprising.
Jovie is done surviving. Living out of her hovercar, scraping credits from double shifts, she's got one shot left to escape Earth's decay: the Alien Bride Race. It's risky and chaotic, but it's the only shot that matters. She never expected to collide with a war-hardened Amphiran whose power could destroy her, or become the one place she feels safe.
When fate throws them together in the race, sparks fly and secrets unravel. Jovie isn't just another contestant. She's the key to something ancient, something forbidden. As Aurelius fights to protect her, his Storm begins to stabilize for the first time. Their bond is electric. Their enemies are watching. Choosing each other may set the galaxy on fire.
Rebellion ignites. Power shifts. Bloodlines fracture. Two scarred souls must decide if love is enough to break cycles and build something new.
Hot and steamy fated mates, enemies to lovers, alien-human romance, exploring love, rebellion, identity, power, freedom, sacrifice, legacy, trust, survival, and transformation.
Jovie is from Earth working two jobs so she can purchase a ticket for the Alien Bride Race so she can either win credits or find a mate. She's been living in her car as she was kicked out of her apartment for non-payment of rent.
Aurelius is a purple alien from Amphiran with an electrically charged Storm inside him that burns for a human mate. But his Royal father has been pushing affluent and entitled "types" his way. After his last rejection, his father has disowned him. Aurelius wants to mate for love so has entered the Alien Bride Race, and he knows his father and subjects will be upset that he doesn't mate with one of their kind.
As soon as he sees Jovie charging around the arena Aurelius's Storm burns for her. Jovie is fast but is eventually caught by another Alien and Aurelius knows that he is a species that should not be at the Alien Bride Race. The Race organizers remove the Alien which gives Aurelius leave to capture Jovie.
But there are forces that keep tearing them apart, a power-hungry father, perhaps a civil war and Aurelius wanting to free his people from tyranny. What will happen next?
An exciting adventure in the Alien Bride Race series, each book can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading the other amazing stories in this series, if you enjoyed this book.
I received an ARC copy from the author and voluntarily leave this honest review.
Jovie has been betrayed by just about everyone in her life. All she wants is to be able to go to the Alien Bride Race and find someone that she can love and love her back, and getting off earth is the best part of all! So she scrimps and saves, working two jobs and sleeping in her hovercar until she finally has enough to purchase a ticket. She thinks any guy will do, until she dreams of an electric charged Amphirian. But is he real or a figment of her imagination?
Prince Aurelius, Aura, has spent his life fighting the Nebulous Empire. He is only entering the ABR because his father keeps pushing arranged marriages on him. So, he takes matters into his own hands and signs up. But when he dreams about a beautiful human female he fears he will once again be disappointed.
When these two arrive at the ABR and see that the person they dreamed about is real, they are all in with each other. They are the perfect fit! But life and Aura’s father have different ideas. And when the war comes to the ABR, these two will do anything to protect each other. But it seems the universe is working against them and they will have a long uphill battle before they can hope to have a life together.
Another excellent addition to the Alien Bride Race Series. Don’t miss it!
Alien races and fated mates. Politics and the quest for power. Love and self-sacrifice for the greater good. All in one heavy hitter of a book.
This was such an engrossing sci-fi read from an author I am reading for the first time. The complex plot kept me interested in the story all throughout the book. Talk of the various alien races and their physical appearance and abilities had also been quite entertaining. Of course, I couldn't do without the fine romance in the story, as the fated mates trope is always something I enjoy. The main characters, Aurelius and Jovie, had interesting personas owing to the baggage they carried from the past. They've both dealt with family members who'd betrayed them, and both harbor a frail hope of a better world and future for themselves and for their fellows.
The action sequences described in this book were great as well, and the dialogue among the characters throughout the book was a good balance of serious and humorous. Having just read a slew of gentle and cozy romances made me miss the intense scenes that usually come with a spicy sci-fi romance. This book was thus definitely a welcome change of focus and pace in my reading.
I received this free review copy from the author. I am writing this review voluntarily.
Rogue Orbit is an entertaining and steamy alien romance told in dual first-person POV, alternating between the human heroine and her alien love interest. It delivers on many beloved tropes—fated mates, a protective royal alien male, a strong human female, exotic alien anatomy, and tech—but with a fresh twist: instead of the usual abduction plot, the heroine willingly enters a week-long alien dating reality show in hopes of finding a mate.
The story features solid world-building, exciting action, and sizzling chemistry. The pacing is strong, the characters are well developed, and the story wraps up with a satisfying happy ending—no cliffhangers here!
While Rogue Orbit can be enjoyed as a standalone, reading earlier books in the series may help clarify some world details (like the significance of the colored armbands). Either way, it’s an engaging read, and I’m looking forward to more from Sybur Phyre.
I received an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
4.5 stars. This story is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced, adventurous, fated mates, electric alien humanoid male/altered human female, sci fi romance. I appreciated Aurelius’ care for his people and his determination to move them past the tyranny of their current rulers. I enjoyed watching him balance his desire/need for Jovie with his obligations elsewhere. I enjoyed Jovie’s initiative and determination to find new opportunities that simply didn’t exist on Earth. I enjoyed her willingness to take risks and to try new things. I also appreciated that she didn’t leave her best friend behind. I enjoyed the relationship development balanced against the non-romance concerns. I enjoyed the multi faceted secondary characters and their personalities. I enjoyed the steamy intimacies. I enjoyed the resolution.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
Woohoo—I finally got my Aurelius book! And. It. Did. Not. Disappoint. Aurelius is one sweet, protective, honorable, sexy, SEXY beast of an alien.
Author Sybur Phyre successfully delivers an edge of your seat action packed blockbuster worthy love story. Her world, character, and plot build draw you in so deep, the transition from reading words to ‘watching’ the story of Aurelius and Jovie play out is seamless. Be prepared to experience every emotion—yes, tears will fall. Two individuals more deserving each other, and a happily ever after … well, it just gives me goosebumps.

I love this series but this one is definitly my favorite! Jovie lives a hard life in Earth,so she saves to be able to entet the ABR. Aurelius is the rogue prince, that deeply cares for his people even against the king and other royals. Not going to resume because you really have to read it! The characters are well developed and loveable. The plot is incredibly good, often complex with a never-ending of action that left me unable to stop reading until the perfect ending. This series has an overarching plot rich, descriptive and utterly addictive. A very special mention to Allelle, the sentient ship bonded with Aurelius, she's Sybur Phyre touch of genius in this book. Highly recomend!
I don’t have the words to describe how much I have enjoyed this book! From the beginning I knew it was going to be a good one. Aura is a prince, rebelling against the caste system he was raised in. His father wants him to mate with another Royal but his “Storm” wants a human. So he enrolls in the Alien Bride Race and falls head over heels for Jovi. She’s a human eager for a new life that doesn’t involve struggle. She has been betrayed over and over again and the ABR is her ticket to a better life. Aura is just the perfect male for her but it won’t be easy as she thinks. There are other things going on that keep tearing the two apart. There’s lots of family drama, a civil war brewing, new friends, old friends and so much more. I loved every page and am so thankful I received an ARC.
A super fun, complex world - I'm totally enjoying returning to the ABR world each time a book comes out. The two main characters literally create sparks together. It was interesting thinking about the science of it all mixed with the political turmoil and completely plausible evilness of the Royals (so like RL world politics right now).
I also enjoyed the side characters and all their relationships. Each character is unique and well defined. The love story of the two main characters comes together nicely.
My favorite line, “Fight well. Love hard. Make peace.”
Sybur Phyre’s Rogue Orbit, book 5 of the Alien Bride Race, is an epic adventure through the stars! It features another bride race but that is just the backdrop to an all out civil war between Aura, the reluctant prince, and his evil, power hungry father the king, to free his people from his dad’s tyranny. Throw in several other aliens who are wreaking havoc and all turns into a huge melee! Aura and his human mechanic find each other and conduct an electric affair amongst the stars throughout!
This enjoyable ABR story is about Jovie who was hurt and betrayed by everyone, so she shrimps and saves by working two jobs to be a participate in the ABR to find someone who will love her and Prince Aurelius who looking for a true mate after his father tried to match him. What occurs was an engaging story as Jovie wonders why her Prince is reluctant to take her to his planet. There's lot of personal drama, action and romance that kept me intrigue till the end. I'd volunteer to read and review this copy I'd received.
This is a creative and enjoyable alien romance. I had not read any of the prior books but the world and characters were well developed with prior relationships explained.
Jovie is a strong female lead with admirable skills that have helped her overcome past hardships and save enough to enter the Alien Bride Race. The enhancements that help with her work make her an ideal candidate to withstand Prince Aurelius’ storm.
The premise of the race is intriguing and I hope to read more in this series.
This series just gets better and better. These characters have so much depth and there is hope and love even in the midst of wars and battles. These characters various species are all really interesting and particularly Aura’s species is quite amazing. I love how Tal gets to join them and finds love too. Eluni comes a long way in the story and her story is heartbreak and courage. Jovie is such a strong character too that the whole of it makes for a well done read. The ending is maybe even the best part! Loved it.
I’m glad Sybur is continuing to write this series. Cool learning more about Aura! I love Jovi she is strong despite what life has thrown at her. I’m not sure if she is meant to be black or Hispanic, but it’s nice to see diversity in the brides. I think Jovi’s goodness and optimism are the reasons Aura falls in love with her not just, a mating pull. Can’t wait until the next one.
Aurelius and Jovie's story. His species has a very electric ability. However, they are forbidden to use it. Aurelius ability is particularly strong. Jovie is barely surviving. She hopes for a better life though the Alien Bride Race. Together they will save his species. Such a good book. The whole series is great.
I love this series but this one is definitely my favorite, of course I say that about every one. The storylines just keep getting better. I can't wait for the next book. I received this book as a Free ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
This book was a crazy, exciting, fun ride. I gasped, worried and cheered all through this story. Aura and Movie's story is my favorite, so far. And the sizzle...hot.
There are friends and powers and things beyond the world you know. And love. Even under strife. Great book! Good story, interesting people-both good and 😖. The world- building? Just amazing. 😡🥰🥵😘
