I'm going to give my review, but I'm going to try hard not to give much away. It's a really good book, I don't want to ruin it for anyone. It's really worth the read.
A great fantasy, with many different types of monsters, and combination of monsters. This is mostly about Cedric, whom is a combination of demon types. It tells of his life, loves, struggles, sacrifices, how he gains power, how he feeds and what great pain he's in for a large portion of his life and why.
There wasn't any part of this book that wasn't good, the whole thing was absolutely wonderful. From how he gets stronger to how learns about, the different types of demons that make him, him. How he was created, who his parents are. How he loses his love, then how he tries to get her back. He travels a lot, searching for the answers he needs. Cedric is a complete and consistent enigma.
So, this book is about Cedric, his life, friends, enemies and Angeline. His life good and bad. "Cedric The demonic knight" is what most know him by. It's also a name he has earned, it fits him perfectly. Once I started reading this book, I realised I liked it much more than I thought I would. It was a completely intriguing book, that kept my attention, and entertained me. Loved this book, quite looking forward to the next book weeeeeee. I really want to see what happens between Cedric and Angeline.
Ahh, you guys, this was pretty cool. kinda weird in the beginning and at some points a little bit abrupt, but I am sure that I am the only one who noticed; it didn't affect the story though. Easy to read I should say A battle there, mating bonds here, sex demons inside witches and werewolves, and on top of that we have Avalon and greek gods. Hahaha, the blend was kinda funny now that I am thinking about but in all that chaos really pleasant. Actually, it could have ended much more early than it did. Fortunately or unfortunately this didn't end in a cliffhanger and I appreciated that. From the couple insight that we had I think it is a toxic relationship. That Cedric was very cyclothymic. I think my favorite was their horse. Nice read.... nice time with this book. 3.8 stars because at some points I thought the author was a little overexcited to add new characters and the story went too fast to justify the new additions and then came back to the original rhythm of the novel. Well done!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review and thoughts.
This story encompassed me in its epic adventure. Wonderful mythological creatures, strong relationships and imagination that kept me reading long into the night. Not so much a romance but rather an adventure with a broken hero, a quest and a challenging universe. I could easily see this as a movie series or video games. The frustrating part, for me, was the serious lack of editing. I would be caught up in this incredible universe and then knocked right out of it by words out of order, broken English, missing words, suffixes and plurals. In my opinion, appropriate editing could have tightened up this story, improved the reading and turned this into a blockbuster. Fortunately, the nonsensical areas were concentrated and fairly far apart. But, honestly, this story caught me up in a way that will keep me reading this series and other books by this author. If you enjoy epic adventures based in mythology, legends and quests, you will enjoy this book.
Dramatic, Lustful, and fantasy fulfilling.. This was a story that I have been waiting to read for a long time. The beginning dragged you from a fight to a mind full of wonders.
I loved how this main character Cedric was full of surprises. I don’t know if I can say he was nice or evil. As you read this story, you find that Cedric has suffered a lot of things in his life that makes him a little hardcore, like us all, our experiences make us who we are in life.
Angeline, my sweet Angeline.. She was very emotional, but strong at the same time. I like how she stood up to Cedric verbally. Her tongue she would not bite. She was very emotional and at times I shedded a tear or too with her.
I must say I didn’t like the verbal bashing Cedric inflicted on the character Angeline, but I guess for the time that this story is set in, it was acceptable. I love how you felt like you were right in the middle of every coil between the two of them.
I love the drawings that were put in the books, it added a bit of excitement to see at least what the characters looked like.
It’s amazing to see the mind of Willis, to create characters that show excitement in power and not just sex. Although the two go hand and hand it was just different and I like how she created this underlining.
The detail in the love scene was remarkable. It explained the lust without being graphic. You could feel the connection with these two characters that seem to be so opposite. The attraction had always been there it was just the rebelling from Cedric that caused all the build up.
Every battle seemed to become more intense and it made you hold on tight for whatever was going to happen. The emotions of the lustful, feveress pleasure during each fight left you feeling like you just finished making love and had the worst fight of your life.
Valerie, you are an outstanding writer and I can’t wait to read more from you.
Cedric the Demonic Knight is a paranormal romance and the first story I’ve ever read from author Valerie Willis. The first installment in a trilogy, Cedric took me on quite the journey through the realms of the supernatural.
A living oxymoron, Cedric is both cursed with his demonic creation while also hunting, fighting, and feeding off of other dangerous creatures with the good nobility of an honorable knight.
Upon winning a tournament, Cedric is awarded a lady of his choosing for marriage, and he picks Angeline. For her, all is lost. She is now wed to a monster with no hope of her happily ever after. For Cedric, a new battle emerges from within, and his life has changed from here on out. He initially intends to use her as bait when he comes face-to-face with evil once again, but before he can put that plan into place, she becomes something else to him.
The pair embark on a treacherous adventure to seek out and kill Cedric’s creator, Morrighan. For him, it’s a mission that will surely end in his demise, but with Angeline in his life, and his sudden need to keep her safe, he can’t help the struggle he feels for unknown emotions. Is he falling in love with the girl he married?
Angeline is not all she first appears either. The girl Cedric thought was so simple actually posses some magic of her own, traits swirling in her blood that she doesn’t quite understand. Together, she and her new husband have to learn to navigate their new life together.
When a threat forces the couple to consummate their marriage, therefor creating a bond, they begin to understand each other and their life together. When Cedric is injured, Angeline can feel it in her own body and vice versa. Their matrimonial binding allows them to feel one another’s pain and arousal which brings them so much closer in the face of obstacles and evils they encounter. Adding the intimacy to their relationship really brought Cedric and Angeline to a new level of adoration and possibly love for one another.
I really enjoyed the trip I took with these two, no matter how dangerous it seemed to be, both for them and for myself. I loved witnessing Cedric and Angeline develop and evolve as characters and as a couple throughout the pages of the story. The more I came to understand where each of them came from, and what I learned of their pasts, the more I appreciated and respected them as they chose to make their bond and marriage work.
Angeline and Cedric practically went to Hell and back for one another, and encountered almost every sort of mythical and supernatural creature in the process. With elements of history and folklore sprinkled among their fantastical world, Willis created a dark but magical and enchanting universe I couldn’t help but get lost in with the demonic knight and his beloved.
If you’re intrigued by the paranormal, or the legends of myth and make believe, or if you’re drawn to a tale of witches, demons, monsters, werewolves, and vampires, with elements of an epic romance mingled right alongside, then give this book a go! You won’t regret it!
I enjoyed this book. It's not a quick read, so if that's what your after, stay away;) It's a great, in depth look into the life of a demon who refuses to give into the evil that was bred into him and the woman who grows to love him. Great drama, great action, great romance, there's just never a dull moment! I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and am leaving my honest review.
Cedric is retelling his story to a barman... He’s been a fighter for as long as he can remember. But it’s a lonely one, everyone is scared of him, he has no one to call friend, Cedric has fooled himself into believing he needs no one. But meeting Angeline, Cedric realises he needs someone in his life, so why not her ? But he thinks he can use her as bait to lure his prey to him, he doesn’t yet realise how much Angeline will come to mean to him.
Angeline is a poorer cousin to the king, a farmers daughter. Not afraid to speak her mind, nor is she scared of hard work. She has no intentions of marrying to keep her family happy.
Cedric is different from most, he has mixed blood running through his veins, incubus (that side needs to have sex to recharge its energy) and vampire. Although he recharges the vampires energy, he refuses to listen to the incubus, the last time he fed from a witch, it didn’t end well (and no I don’t know what happened) his end goal in life is to end his creators existence. The sorceress Morrighan.
Angeline had the misfortune of meeting Cedric one dark evening, and now she has become the focus of this demonic stranger. He thinks to use her as bait or prey, but his other side (the incubus side) seems to want more, and now Cedric is confused, and he’s not in control, and that isn’t an option with Cedric.
They travel together, hate for one another is strong, she hates the fact she is married to a demon, he doesn’t treat her well, nor does he respect her, and he uses her as bait (he needs to feed to stay strong) and he isn’t impressed that he continues to feel things for his “pet”. And when Angeline comes into her magic (can’t tell you how, it might spoil the story for you😉) Cedric has to fight both his demon and incubine sides for his stubborn witch !!
And when a near fatal accident almost kills Cedric, the only course is to give him some of Angeline’s blood, the whole thing takes on a more dangerous route for Cedric, his desire for Angeline hits an all time high. How can he ignore her, when he can sense her even more ?!?!
There are three books in the series:
Cedric the demon knight. Romasanta. Father of werewolves. The Oracle. The keeper of Gaea’s gate.
I’m interested in how it all ends ..... The stories are all stand alone, but they seem to all come together 🤔
So .... does Cedric fall for his “pet”? Will Angeline “bond” with her demon husband ? And will the curse follow Cedric and Angeline ? And what does the future hold for Cedric ? Is he alone in the future ?
The Morrigan, demons, magic, and knights, Cedric the Demonic Knight by Valerie Willis had me sold with the synopsis. Then, I saw the cover and thought oh no, did I make a mistake? The cover didn’t grab me or sell me as much as the synopsis did. I put off reading it, thinking oh no, I have made a mistake. But finally, I picked it up and boy oh boy, is this another case of not judging a book by its cover. The writing is actually really great, as is the story!
The writing is incredibly solid and very reminiscent of typical high fantasy novels. It is structured and descriptive, but not overly so to the point where readers become bogged down or bored. The dialogue feels natural, but is a bit nasty for my taste. I know why the character speaks the way he does, but it doesn’t help keep me from cringing when he does and gets misogynistic.
The plot is also typical of fantasy. There is the overarching goal — destroy Morrighan. The distractions — beasts, discovery of self. The improbability of survival. Cedric, after accidentally acquiring a witchy blooded wife, is on a quest to destroy his makers. A father and a literal maker who designed his birth almost as though he were a lab experiment.
THE ROMANCE! Boy oh boy! I had read another book which I had to DNF and will not receive a review, but it was just sex that made no sense with no story just 10% in. This, on the other hand, was all teasing and no act. When the romantic interests finally give in to their passion, fade to black. Talk about sexual frustration!
This is a fantasy series, despite its drab cover, that really lives up to the genre and is a great read. I wholeheartedly recommend Cedric the Demonic Knight by Valerie Willis to readers that like a mix of Arthurian fantasy mixed with demons and witchcraft with a sprinkle of sex and romance.

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Valerie Willis!
Cedric the Demonic Knight tells the story of Cedric, who he is and why he’s so attracted to Angeline. Cedric the Demonic Knight is about Cedric and Angeline’s adventure, how they defeat several monsters as well as start to fall in love with each other.
Cedric the Demonic Knight is a paranormal book with a lot of paranormal creatures such as vampires, werewolves, zombies, succubi, incubi, witches, chimeras, … and a lot more. It was really cool that there were so many different kinds of paranormal creatures but I would’ve wanted a list of all the explanations of the different creatures. I was constantly thinking about what kind of creature the character was and from which history they came from. So a list of all the explanations would’ve been handy!
Besides the list, I also want to say that Cedric the Demonic Knight was a bit long-threaded. In the beginning of the book everything went really fast, but then the more I read the more I felt like it was a bit boring with unnecessary information. Don’t get me wrong, I really like the concept of this book with all the different kinds of creatures, but it would’ve been better if it was a tad shorter.
The main characters, Cedric and Angeline, were both a bit annoying. I really like that Cedric is a special kind of creature because he’s a mix of a moroi and an incubus, but it was a bit irritating that he always had to be rude to Angeline, and Angeline was crying all the time. I do want to say that there was a good character development, they slowly started to like – even love each other and they became better persons. Cedric started to accept what Angeline truly means to him and Angeline started to cry less and she became braver.
Cedric the Demonic Knight was an interesting read because of the different kinds of creatures and the good character development. I also liked that there were a few pictures of the creatures in the book! I always love pictures in a book because it gives something extra!
Firstly, I just want to say that the writing in this novel is just amazing! I throughly enjoyed the style of writing and the details the author poured into this novel. I did find some of the details very annoying, only because I felt like they weren’t very necessary.
I also loved the chemistry between the two main characters. I didn’t really expect that they would work so well? I’m not really sure specifically what I was expecting there, but I do know it wasn’t that.
The only thing I truly hated about this novel was how Cedric was so abusive and always made Angeline cry. Like that really made me angry and just annoyed all at once. I can’t handle abuse and someone crying non-stop. That personally really got on my nerves and slowly made me lose interest in the novel.
This novel broadened my horizon in the fact that, I don’t read these types of books and I know for a fact this is not for me and that is the only reason this book was rated 3 stars from me. The writing style and the chemistry is what saved it from being a 1 Star. Such a talented writer! Just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Cedric the Demonic Knight (The Cedric Series Book 1) by Valerie Willis is a rich adventure. It has knights and kings, ladies of the court and a lady who can stand up for herself, demons, witches, goddesses, hellhounds and my personal favorite firey horses with an awesome personality.
This story is about a knight who is not quite what he seems, well because he is a mix of different demons. He walks among those of the less than demonic world and fights in a battle that wins him the bride of his choosing, Angeline. He takes Angeline as his bride, not because she is the most beautiful, but because she saw him do something out of character for a human and now he wants to use her as bait in his battles with demons. You see, despite being a demon, Cedric fights other demons and takes care of them for the kingdom. With his bait in hand, Cedric sets off with Angeline on an epic journey with Cedric's past and parentage which ultimately connects the newlyweds on a journey to each other.
As you can see from my breakdown in ratings, this did not turn out to be a typical Behind Closed Doors Book Review book. It didn't have really any spicy action and when it kinda got close it was a little fade to black. The story was very intricate, engaging, and well written. The author provided a lot of detail about the characters, the action sequences, and the character motivations.
While reading the book, it kept making me think of Dungeons and Dragons (never played as I was never invited - yes I am still bitter) as the adventure is met with different obstacles and quests the hero has to overcome (alongside his lady, Angeline). When I finished the book and came to the "About the Author" at the end of the book, I realized the book wasn't really as much D&D, but a video game with some romance. There is a lot of action in the story with movement between different places in the vast world Willis has created. This knowledge made me appreciate the book more.
Angelina was meant to be a wallflower, a means for her uncle to show everyone just how beautiful his own daughter was. He wanted his daughter to marry Lord Cedric, but following a previous encounter Cedric only had eyes for Angelina. He hated her and loved her. Wished her demise, yet fought to keep her safe. His incubus bloodline wanted the pleasure of her virginity, and another part of him craved even more. It was all he could do to be near her. Biting remarks and hostile actions become the only way to prevent himself giving in to the temptation. Cedric seeks revenge, and he needs power to exact it, and the woman with him has a magic in her blood that sings to him. Can he resist her, or will he have to succumb to the part of himself he tries to keep repressed in order to achieve his own ambitions?
In Valerie Willis’, Cedric the Demonic Knight, you watch Angelina's gradual transformation from tearful, down trodden, whiner to skilful, independent, ranger. She feared Cedric, who treated her like despised and unwanted property, and yet she needed him. This book is written in a style that would welcome a young adult audience, fans of L.J. Smith and Vampire Hunter D will particularly find something for them with the brooding, vicious bad boy Cedric, an incubus moroi cross blood creation nursing his own tragic past and fears. Partly a tale of self-discovery as both Cedric and Angelina learn both who they are, and about each other, and another part supernatural quest for revenge as Cedrick journeys across the land slaying powerful and imaginative creations.
Cedric the Knight is a well written book by Valerie Willis. I am not sure what I expected when I started to read this book, but I definitely got something totally different and unique. At first it starts of with Cedric telling his story, but you are soon thrown into the midst of the action. I have to say this book was rather captivating and is one of those page turners. For a little bit I was wondering what the plot if it was, but there is one and the author soon reveals it, on her terms. I don't find her secrecy took away from it all since it is a very well developed plot that follows along a beautiful pace.
Cedric oh Cedric, what a character. He was rather rough around the edges and the author did an amazing job on his character development, no thanks to Angeline. Angeline is not your typical heroine but oh my, she has quite the impact in her deceiving gentle nature. Underneath it all she hides a very strong heroine, one that you should never underestimate. The author did a lot of character development especially with Cedric, but a few others get a healthy dose of it as well.
I have to say I really didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed this unique book that really had it all, a healthy dose of romance, battle, a mystery to solve and best of all it was very different from your usual paranormal book you pick up most of the time! You just can't beat that! I can definitely recommend this to my fellow lovers of the paranormal.

Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Blog Wow. Just wow. This book is awesome! Like, it kidnaps you in a world full of darkness, blood and war and yet you don’t want to leave. It starts innocently and you think, oh my, this Cedric guy is a real douchebag, but then, slowly so slowly, you come to realize that there’s a reason for his douchebaggery and this reason breaks your heart. I cried for him. So much. His despair, it was… Like not from this world. The punishments he took upon him were awful and too much for one person to carry. He was one of those heroes you get to know like an onion: Layer after layer while crying more and more with each layer. I was astonished at how hard he worked to redeem himself and I wanted so much for him to get his Happily Ever After. I didn’t think it would be possible, not after everything he told the bartender and then the thing with the finger. It was so sad. His heartbreak was so real for me. I shed so many tears. And I am still not completely over this book. This book is for you, if you are interested in folklore, old tales, magic, darkness and historical stuff as well as heartbreak and redemption. Shortly said: This book contains something for everyone. I loved everything that was mentioned in the book. The different creatures, the goddesses and gods, the feelings these things had even though they shouldn’t be able to feel anything (this is for you, Morrighan!) and, of course, the conclusion. I really liked how Merlin was portrayed, since most books paint him in a rather positive light and I really enjoyed him getting the darkness this time. I give 4.5 wonderfully deserved stars for this book, because I would have liked the end to be a bit slower, but this is just my personal preference. I really really enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to reading more about all the creatures in further books.
4.5 stars to this very new-to-me-author. I really enjoyed this story. It is long, it is lengthy, but the author put so much history into the book that it is well worth the read. Cedric is not only a demonic knight he's got the blood from some very famous blood lines. Having to choose a wife from a kings court because he wins a tournament is not in his plans, but he does. Little did he know that he's chosen another with more magic in her blood. They have a very rocky time of it until they are bound and figure out how to make their bindings work for them.
With histories of Vlad the Impaler, The Morrigan, Badbh the War Goddess, Romasanta the Father of Werewolves, Succubus Queen Lillith and others behind him Cedric is sure to have many, many battles ahead of him, and not just for his love.
This book is something else. I have puzzled over some of the things that Cedric has done and said. Sometimes they are cruel and others they are just thrown out with no regard to anyone. The love he has for his wife is very strong and unwavering. Cedric is an honorable demon “sounds strange because demons are to be evil liars.” I really liked this book, there are twist and turns that make your head swim. Exciting and makes you nuts at times but a very good story. I received an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.
Cedric the Demonic Knight by Valerie Willis was an Exciting Story With Wonderful Imagery!
The H's character development was a sight to behold!
I started off really disliking him, and his actions, but somewhere in the process of the story, he grew on me, and I couldn't get enough of him, and the h.
The action in the story was outstanding! I enjoyed all of the characters presented, and I found myself seeking out the other books in the series.
This is definitely a book not to be missed!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I don't read a lot of Epic Fantasy, but the blurb for this one intrigued me. The story is Epic and fantastical, but it's also romantic. When we first meet Cedric, he isn't the most likable of fellows and I wasn't at all thrilled with the way he treats Angeline. Then, he tells his story and my heart broke for him. What follows is a slow-build love story. The book is beautifully written and a wonderful mix of fantasy, legend, and historical fiction with some characters that we've all heard about and some other, not so well-known legends.
A fun read about an incubus/vampire finding love. I thought it was sweet and I liked the back and forth bickering between Cedric and Angeline. Nice and sturdy storyline but towards the end did throw me a little. A lot of characters to get to know. My favourite character was Cedric but in the beginning it was the horse. The werewolf was interesting and left a lot open, so I’m glad there’s a story for him.
Well paced story with plenty of adventure and interesting characters (monsters and otherwise). I would and do recommend this one for anyone interested in a great read.
Loved this book! I am already thinking about reading the next book in the series. The story caught me from the first moment to the last one. If not for work, I could have read it in a day. I have fallen in love with these characters, and there's so much new mythology for me to research now!
Cedric the Demon Knight tells his story of why he refuses to regrow his missing finger. The story he tells is filled with adventure, action, discovery and love. I found it engrossing. The writing is very good.
I was drawn on by how the author wove so many European mythological beings into a story of gain and loss. There were some mistakes in sentence structure; but not enough to detract from the storyline.
If you want a fast paced, hard hitting, all comsuming, action packed, smooth flowing read, congratulations my friends you've found it. What an unbelievable connection. I was totally blown away. I freaking loved this read. I followed the characters along and was fascinated watching their personalities transform and blend. The scenes so vividly described you can picture it clear as day. The chemistry, excitement and danger at every turn kept me captivated from the start.
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
Not my kind of read. Couldn’t force myself to go past chapter 2. The writing itself was fine for those 2 chapters, but it just didn’t catch my interest.
Valerie is a very good author, as you can see from the many 4 and 5 star reviews. I was given the book for an honest review, but when I finish a book I always review it. I was looking for a fantasy book that would hold my attention and contained better than average use of language and vocabulary. Since the book was also considered a romance I wanted the romance to be a logical part of the fantasy story. Everything I was looking for was included in this book. Valerie Willis has moved into my list of favorite authors. I highly recommend this book.
Liked this book a lot. Maybe not a new concept but the intertwining of different paranormal/fantasy/fairy tale/mythology stories was a great and refreshing breath of air in this world of very badly written books. Not a lot of grammatical errors or mixing of characters. The story unfolds consecutively and not too much is revealed at once.
A marvelous, magical twist on both common and rare Western mythologies! The Morrighan and her sisters mix with more traditional demons, vampires, and werewolves! Join Cedric on his quest to kill demons as he comes to terms with being one himself - loved Willis’s plot twists!
Please note that this book has strong adult themes (this is not a “clean” romance, unlike a majority of what I review).
I received this book as a gift and am voluntarily leaving a review. Cedric is not a normal demon. He gained a bride by winning a tournament long ago. He tells a tale of love, mystery, fantasy, death, magic, lore, and gore to a bartender for weeks. He has a combined heritage that gives him different powers. He has had a long journey to recover his mate from Merlin. He finally discovers a way in….will he find her? Will he defeat Merlin? Will his newfound friends be able to help him? What occurs? Find out when you buy the exciting and thrilling book!
