This book is out of print.

Ironically, it all starts with a popular book about BDSM. When Angelina Jameson steps into her boss's office armed with an acid article about 'Billionaires, BDSM and Blah-blah-blah', she thinks her career will take off. But her career aspirations drop into second place when she finds herself face to face with her nemesis.
Blade Spencer is the new editor-in-chief of Unabridged—the literary magazine where his ex-lover Angelina works. For three years, since she fled small town Jamestown without a word of explanation, they haven't heard from one another. Now, when they meet again, the past and all the feelings they once had between them come rushing back, making them realize their love has never died. But can they reconcile their new circumstances and the changes that have occurred during the three years they were apart? Neither is the person the other used to know.
Then there is the faceless shadow who hunts them from the dark, driven by obsession and greed...

*This book contains strong language and explicit descriptions of sex.

A quick, sultry, second chance romance that all began with a magazine editorial on the 'Fifty Shades of Gray' phenomenon. This was a romantic comedy of sorts though it was liberally flavored with suspense to make things interesting. Each time I pick up a book by this author I am guaranteed an engaging story with scintillating characters and a crisp plot with this book being no exception.

This standalone story opens with Angelina Jameson rushing into her boss' office with a new article she wishes put in the next edition of the magazine clutched in her hand only to find that she has a new boss. And that's not all. The new boss is none other than Blade Spencer, the man she loved and left three years before. Blade is entirely professional even as he is skeptical about printing her critique on 'Fifty Shade' and when he announces that there will be significant changes at the magazine. Angie has no idea what to make of this or the instant return of attraction and longing she thought was long buried.

Blade's sudden appearance sends Angelina reeling and uncertain of what to do especially since they exchange a heated kiss not long before she learns that Blade has a wife. She must get away and think. Her friend and mother thought Blade being there was a second chance, but the presence of a wife kills that hope. That is until Blade himself shows up at the cottage where she is staying determined that they talk through their past. Sorting through their past mistakes is only the beginning and someone else isn't too keen on these two ever getting together.

I was intrigued by this latest story the author wrote narrated entirely by the heroine because it was a bit of something different. The pacing was quick and plotting was tight and sharp so that the story didn't pause and got right to the point. I loved that it was pretty much angst-free and the author didn't create drama for drama's sake which is why the resolve in the romance coming as quick as it did wasn't so much of a bother (not to mention this was a reunion and not a new pairing).
The tone and atmosphere were the biggest differences as this one was solidly contemporary rom com and suspense minus the paranormal element of other stories. I will say that it also had a women's fiction-feel with the themes brought forward by Angie's opinion in her article on women and BDSM fiction.

The lighter Romantic Comedy side made me laugh several times with Angelina's hilarious correspondence partner and that twist in the beginning when she comes face to face with her past right when she's clutching a critique of an erotic romance series and has to discuss it. Then the story adds other emotional flavors like the bittersweet-ness of their reunion and dealing with their past along with the welcome addition of a mystery.

When I say bittersweet, I refer to the fact that Angie has to come to grips with the fact that she left a man she loved and who loved her with no explanation and then when they do come back together she finds that he tried to continue on with his life. I was glad for this added layer of emotional and realistic depth because otherwise things would have been just a bit too pat between these two. But that being said, the passion was scorching hot between Angie and Blaze and I enjoyed the lighter atmosphere created by their second attempt at romance too. And hey, it doesn't hurt that these two have enviable careers in the book industry and share a love for a stray cuddly kitten.

The suspense was foreshadowed earlier in the story, but it was really the last half where it came to the surface. I enjoyed playing detective even though this wasn't the primary focus of the story.

I enjoyed the addition of the secondary characters particularly Angie's best friend and her mom. Her best-friend just made me smile whenever she was in a scene.

All in all, this was a quick, satisfying read that I can recommend to Contemporary Romance or light Romantic Suspense fans that enjoy some extra spice to their romance.

My thanks to the author for providing a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

I think this story had promise to it from the sound of the synopsis and the underlying plot of 'the one who got away' type thing, but for me it was too predictable. I knew exactly where it was going and that made it fairly boring to read. While I think the author had a good flow to the writing, I felt like at times there was a bit of thesaurus overusage or at least words used in a way that most people don't speak or think. Like 'A state of unprecedented optimism and contentment bloomed inside me, as I stretched languorously.' While at other times were just stilted, like 'I quivered in response to the nearness of this monument of raw sexuality'.

The first moment she lays eyes on Blade, he is her nemesis but only moments later she is dreaming about kissing him, which would never happen with a true nemesis. And after days of seeing the man that you just saw no future with she is stating things like 'my existence was dull and sterile before you reappeared in my life. Now I feel complete.' They were only together for a few months, then three years apart, but just like that they are back deeply in love.

I wish I could've loved the story more, but I just couldn't connect to any of the characters and the flimsy emotions and rapidly changing feelings.

Ever walk into your boss’s office and think you know how the meeting will go? Yeah, Angelina thought she knew….until she walked in and it wasn’t her boss sitting at the desk. This was a fast read about lost love and second chances. The chemistry between Blade and Angelina is evident from the start. Rat the cat cracked me up and I wish we could have seen a picture of Rat all wet from the rain storm. This was a sweet love story and if you love sappy and sweet this one is for you.

Characters: The characters were well written and believable.

Sex: yes

Religious: no but God is mentioned several times

Would I recommend to others: yes

More than one book in the series: yes

Genre: Romance

Would I read more by this author: yes

This was a quick, faced pace about second chance love.

Angelina and Blade were re-acquainted when Blade came to work at the magazine where Angelina worked. He was her boss after her previous one retired. Now I thought this was going to be another rich CEO billionaire with a huge appendage takes advantage of a meek, virgin but I was sooo wrong!!

In fact, this book actually made a bit of thing about a certain billionaire CEO book not being literary worthy despite appealing to, mostly, women worldwide. I did feel this was a little bit naughty to do that, even though it was written as a fictional article by a fictional character, I can't help but wonder what Ms De Ross does actually think of that book! (personally I loved it!)

Anyhoo, this book shot through the re-kindling of their relationship at rocket pace time. It was enjoyable, it was easy to read and the story flowed nicely throughout the book. The author obviously has talent and I would love to read some more of her work.

I would call this book quirky, tongue in cheek and I would recommend this book.

***** Had A Great Time!

Never having read this author before, based on the book’s adorable cover and Amazon blurb, I decided to take a chance. SO glad I did. Starting off with an upcoming meet-up between Angelina, a beautiful, snarky journalist and her new editor-in-chief, Blade, what she doesn’t know is her new boss turns out to be her old flame she had deserted years earlier. Talk about deep emotions running just below the surface! And while Blade wins over the hearts and minds of the rest of the magazine’s staff with smart, trendy ideas, funny, snappy prose abounds between Angelina and Blade, in a series of cat-and-mouse innuendos. But coupled with that are their mutual tenderness and touching confessions. So much so, I found myself turning those pages, anxious to see if they were actually going to get back together. But was it too late? Had too much bitterness happened? Just when I was beginning to think it might all work out, an unexpected wave of danger comes hurtling in. The results? I just couldn’t stop reading. Definitely recommended!

This book was gifted for an honest review. This was a story about second chances at love between Angelina Jameson and Blade Spencer. Sometimes things don't go your way the first time together that when you get a chance to do it all over you take it. This was a refreshing and funny book that took me by suprise that, I was laughing out loud at times. Angelina didn't realize that Blade even work at the paper until she walks into the office and sees him. That sets in motion to them finding there way back to eachother. You get some romantic comendy, hot sexy time and with some supense in it. It truly helped put the story all together in the end. This the first time reading a book by Author Melinda De Ross and it won't be the last. If your looking for something new and refreshing go pick this book up you will not be disappointed. Take a chance you won't forget it.

Angelina had the best story idea! She was so excited to talk to the editor-in-chief about her take on the new book sweeping the world. She was thrilled to give a satirical look into the BDSM movement made mainstream thanks to the current best seller. The feminist in her cheered her on as she wrote the article and while she knew people would object to the story, it would start conversations. That was the whole idea.
Strolling into his office she was shocked to see, her boss not in his chair. Instead, the handsome face from her past looked up to her from his desk. What the heck, Blade Spencer was now her new boss. She had walked away from him 3 years prior and it had been one of the hardest things she ever did. What is he doing here and why did he still affect her so badly? When he makes it apparent he isn’t going anywhere, she has to figure out how and if she can work with him. Is this a second chance for them and who is out there hoping to tear them apart?
Good story and enjoyed the idea of the magazine. Writers featured with short stories, sounds great to me. 3.5 stars

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Unabridged follows the story of Angelina and Blade, two people who grew up in the same town but under different financial and societal circumstances. Blade's family was from the "right" side of town, while Angelina's mom cleaned their houses.
Blade never understood Angelina's misgivings about their dating and her concerns that she was not good enough for him. After a night out and having to defend herself to his friends, she up and left town without a word.

Fast forward and Angelina and her mother are now living in Seattle, she is an editor for Unabridged magazine. She is stunned when Blade is the new managing editor of the magazine.

This was a nice, sweet short read. I did have a few issues with the timelines in the book and some grammar issues.

This was a very enjoyable romantic comedy with a touch of suspense. It is a second chance love story between Angelina and Blade. It was well written and the story flowed easily. Angelina and Blade have a history that involved Angelina leaving Blade three years prior with no explanation. Now Blade is her boss and he is ready for an explanation. She thought she was doing the right thing by walking away but realizes once she see him again that she was wrong. They both realize that the love they shared is still there and reunite. Not everyone is happy about this pairing. What lengths will they go to end this pairing?

The romance was very sweet and the steamy scenes well written. Overall very good read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good second chance love story.

A delightfully refreshing and humorous read is how I describe this latest novel by prolific author, De Ross.
The fluid ease with which the author tells Angelina’s story makes for a most enjoyable read. She’s the stroppy, feisty and drop-dead gorgeous little heroine, who will not settle for half measures.
And the introduction of the consummate man… Oh, my… Blade is from Angelina’s past, is now firmly in her present, but will he still be in her future?
This is modern day romance and chemistry as it should be. The balance is perfect. And there are so many little twists and turns that make this a thoroughly enjoyable read.

I'm a sucker for Romantic Comedies and this one left me satisfied. The main characters made it hard for me to put my kindle down. I love Angelina. She's strong and confident. I also love Blade, he's the perfect guy for her... but their road to love is a bumpy one. The romance, humor and suspense of this story will definitely keep you enthralled. The author did a great job of mixing sexual tension and comedy together. The twists and turns and mysteries of this story will keep you glued to the story. I recommend this to anyone looking for a great read.

Unabridged is a romantic comedy. Once that will make you laugh out loud one minute and swoon the next.

Angelina goes to see her boss with an article for his approval and walks into his office to find him gone and another boss in his place. That would be Blade. It doesn't take long for them to get liplocked and a whole lot more. This is a story of second chances.

I give Unabridged 4 hearts!

I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book. At the very least I’d get some laughs as it was described as a romantic comedy. Not that I had any doubts, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Angelina had a secret. It was the reason she ended things with Blade. She made a sacrifice for him because of her love for him. The only problem is, she didn’t tell Blade the reason. Why is that a problem you ask? Well now Blade is her boss and he still thinks she’s cold hearted. Will these two rekindle their love now that they spend time together again or is all hope lost?

I enjoyed this book. I got a few good laughs! The characters were great and I loved their interactions. If you’re in the mood for a light romance with some laughs, this is definitely for you!

Second chance for her

Angie made a decision a few years ago based on her love for Blade, even though the sacrifice would hurt her. She suddenly finds that Blade is now her new boss and she has to apologise for hurting him. But love never died for these two and with steamy sexy passionate interludes they get together. A scary ex-wife causes serious harm to Angie but that brings her and Blade closer together. A good read with some genuinely funny very imaginative bits, a cat called Rat, a lovely Mother and other cool characters.

Romantic idea

I've on!y read the first few chapters, but while the plot idea is engaging and unexpected the language is too stilted and formal for Americans. I'm going to go back to read the rest of the book because I want to know the rest of what happens with these 2 characters. Keep up your writing Melinda.

Unabridged was a quick and fun read! The tempo was upbeat and the story flowed extremely well. I love a good romantic comedy and was super excited to dig into this one!

A romantic comedy has a few things that we as readers expect to see, such as: witty banter, strong emotions, realistic characters, sexual tension, and a good plot line.

Okay...so it started off a bit slow and odd...but hilarious. I thought the article that Angelina wrote was pretty awesome and honestly...accurate! The plot line was some-what unique and definitely interesting. Unfortunately, the blurb made me expect and want more than what was delivered. I felt like parts of the story were rushed while other parts were perfect! The mystery and danger aspect that is thrown in was a nice twist...however it did take this book out of the romantic comedy genre for me. I felt like I was reading more of a mystery/thriller with a comedic twist.

The romance was not the strongest I've ever read, but it was fun to read. Blade is SEXY AS SIN with a commanding and yet lovable demeanor that made me want more of him! Angelina is a very strong female character. She knows what she wants and is determined to get it, no matter the consequences!

The chemistry between these two is pretty obvious and the way they interact was definitely humorous and fun! Both Angelina and Blade are very well developed characters and I felt that I understood them both very well. Melinda De Ross's writing style manages to pull me into the story!

That being said, I was amazed by the quickness in which both Angelina and Blade were willing to forgive and forget. I was sort of hoping for a little more drama in the mix I suppose. Their past is complicated and yet...not. She was poor and he was rich. Of course when they were together it was frowned upon and things happen to split them up. Now she is a successful-ish journalist and he is her new boss. I'm sure you can see what I see...the massive potential for drama and sexual tension! While Melnida De Ross worked in a little bit of sexual tension, I felt like there was just so much more she could have done with the story.

I don't want you guys to think I am bashing the book or even saying that you shouldn't read it. That is SO not what I am trying to say here. Unabridged is GOOD and you should most definitely give it a read. There are a ton of twists and turns throughout the story that keep you on your toes and wondering what will happen next. At the same time, there are some aspects of the story that end up a bit predictable.

If you enjoy a good romantic comedy with a few twists and turns along the way, I recommend you head on over and check out Unabridged!

I’m a sucker for a chick-lit and romance, I gotta admit that. And this book just reminded me how much I love chick-lit.
Let me start with the cover. It is gorgeous! Look at that pretty blue. I mean, there is even cat (*coughs*Rat*coughs*). My two favorite things on the cover. Apparently, Melinda also likes blue. Aaaaand, she did this cover herself. One talented author, I must admit.
The book was pleasurable to read. Yeah, it really starts with a popular book about BDSM and throughout the whole book I was thinking, which book it is. I mean, I think I know the answer but maybe I should ask Melinda. Angelina is great character and she is also a feminist. I am feminist myself and I loved her article. Let me give you a snip of it:
“Can you imagine a powerful woman, a woman in control who knows she is smart, strong and capable enjoying BDSM? Can you imagine Cleopatra – one of the most representative female figures in history – with her ass in the air in front of Caesar, getting a whipping or wearing a leash? If there has been any whipping going on in that royal tangle, I bet she was the one to do it. A woman like that would never dream of being anybody’s submissive.”
There is more to that article and seriously I was clapping after I read it. Because the whole article made sense to me. The thoughts that never left my head after reading this book were “Is Melinda also feminist and what she thinks about them?”.
Blade, oh Blade.. In my mind that guy looks so sexy and hot. Strong and powerful but still with a soft spot for Angelina. A huge soft spot. *chuckles* I loved how Melinda wrote out his character. He wasn’t boring or being super like cheesy. He was just right.
The story is also great, it kept my total attention the whole time. I didn’t want to put book down but sadly, it should’ve happen because life happens as well. Yes, it has strong language and descriptions of sex but I don’t think it is that bad as you can find today. I think there books with stronger language and detailed descriptions. I am almost 24 years old so it is not a problem for me to read this book and I’m not really that sensitive about this topic. The book ending was hilarious. The last chapter made me crack with laugh non stop. I loved it so much!
For the last part of my review there is only one question left: Who is Zorro Kalashnikov?

I was going through all of the books on my iPod looking for a romance (I've been reading too much action recently), so when I came across Unabridged, it seemed perfect. I've had it for a few months now, after agreeing to review it, so I thought it was about time I read it as well.

Unabridged was a quick, easy read where the writing flowed and it kept me turning the pages quickly--I was actually surprised by how quickly I got through it. The book was lighthearted and something I would say that is good for relaxing with. It has a simple plot to follow, and the characters are quite laid back. Similarly, there are a few elements of humour. I wouldn't say this book was a laugh-out-loud book as it didn't have me in stitches, but there were a few moments that made me smile--most of which were with Rat the cat.

Saying that, the one thing that annoyed me most with Unabridged was that everything felt too easy and a little underdeveloped. I thought there would be a lot more drama from what the blurb described, but there was virtually nothing--Blade was definitely not a nemesis, and their past wasn't really an issue. I wanted there to be more build up to finally getting back together, and for him to make her work for forgiveness. It felt a little unrealistic how quickly they fell back into each other's lives. Moreover, the twist near the end could have been developed more. I felt the culprit was obvious and that it could have started earlier in the book to make it not feel so random. It was a nice addition in my opinion, just needed more work.

Apart from that I did struggle with the writing at times. I felt some moments were great, but others had too much detail of unnecessary things, and there was also a sight issue with tenses. These happened mostly when Angie was on her own and it did make me want to skim some description. I felt it a little superfluous as one sentence could have summed it up.

Anyway, having said that, overall I did enjoy Unabridged. It's a quick, lighthearted read that's engaging. It's a simple story that's great for not having to think with.

Unabridged is the first book I have read by this author, I was given this book in exchange for an honest review so here goes....

This book is witty and at times quite funny, but to be honest it’s an intellectual humour that some people just may not get.

I liked Angelina and Blade they were a cute couple but all the hard work of them becoming a couple never came. I liked that they had history but because of that they had half a chapter to get together and for the rest of the book they had a break neck speed romance.

The sex is sexy and I did feel the chemistry between Angelina and Blade.

This book has a bit of everything including the obligatory psycho in Blades ex wife Alison. I’m honestly not sure what makes her flip because until she loses the plot she’s only mentioned once or twice!!!

The book makes some very obvious digs at 50 Shades of Grey and the kinky book revolution that has resulted from Mr Grey’s success.

The digs are vague in that no names are used but to be honest the whole thing feels like a bit of a faux pas on the author’s part.

Perhaps I’m wrong and it wasn’t 50 shades of Grey that was being scorned but I’d be surprised.

I enjoyed this book but I felt like the love story was slightly out of order and the natural progression wasn’t quite right.

Overall Angelina and Blade are a sweet couple that I do honestly feel were destined to be together so this one gets 3 stars from me.

I'll tell you I was a little torn on how to rate this book. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. At first I thought it was going to be a book bashing a certain other book and I was a little upset that I had agreed to review it. Then I thought it was going to bash a certain group of people and I was a little more upset. I actually almost contacted the tour host and told them I was not even going to finish it. I put it down and did some thinking and decided I would read some more. I ended up finishing it and it turned out to be an ok read. To me it jumped a lot and what I thought was just a few days ended up being a few weeks or even months down the line. There were parts that were slow and I was getting ready to stop reading but then it would almost switch gears and get good but the really good parts would end before I could really get into it. If you are looking for a "realistic" read then this may not be what you want but if you want just a true fiction read that is some what believable and just need a few hours to escape from reality then this is great. There was some funny parts and some sad parts but it says it is a steamy read and I didn't really find it that steamy. Like I said before it was not bad and I am glad that I did finish it because it did get better.

This is a quick and fun read about a second chance at love between Angelina and Blade.

Blade’s family has always been wealthy while Angelina’s family has not and when the two start dating, Angelina believes she is not good enough for him. After a night out with his friends turns disastrous for Angelina, she decides to leave Blade and town altogether.

Years later and Angelina is working as an Editor for a magazine called Unabridged. When she comes up with a brilliant concept idea she brings her idea to the new Managing Editor of the magazine who turns out to be Blade.

Angelina is shocked that she will be working with him and under him at the magazine. The two realise they still have feelings for each other and decide to give their love a second chance.

Although this story was predictable as to the outcome, I did enjoy it.

This was a fun little story that I read in one sitting. The characters were enjoyable and the story line was fast paced and sexy with a small touch of suspense.
Blade and Angelina were together briefly but passionately three years ago but now they’re reunited when Blade becomes Angelina’s boss at the magazine she works for. Things quickly pick up where they left off and a whirlwind romance begins again. Blade and Angelina come from two different worlds yet have a lot in common. They both have a passion for journalism and take care of those they care about. I enjoyed their fun and romantic reconnection.
There was a bit of suspense in the book that added another layer to this romance. I loved the sexy scenes between Angelina and Blade. I also enjoyed how supportive Angelina’s friend and mom were This was a great book and I really enjoyed the opportunity to read it. 4 out of 5 stars!

Angelina left Blade and disappeared for reason she thought were good, but suddenly seeing him again makes her wonder if things could be different now.

Angelina is strong, fierce, and determined, when it comes to relationships though she's unsure. She loved Blade, loves him still, but can she accept them as they are and allow him back into her life?

Blade was wrecked when Angelina disappeared all those years ago, but he knows that they were meant to be. Getting Angie to accept that though might just be a challenge.

This story was ok. There just wasn't much to it, and my favorite parts weren't even part of the storyline, but the story written by the main character and the letters she recived. The story was very short and I wish there was more of the couple and their pasts what there was.

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

I am still sitting on the fence trying to decide whether this was written as a parody - which seems likely given the 'article' that Angelina submits, or whether it is meant to be just ironic timing, which the blurb suggests. The story is undoubtedly familiar, and the descriptive passages (of sex in particular) use such superlative adjectives and adverbs, that I believe the first must be true ... and yet I am not sure.

It was a quick read, and there were some comedic gems in the story - Rat the cat for one, and the letters from her distant admirer in New Zealand.

I received this for an honest review. I have to say that this was a good story.
Angelina Jameson steps into her bosses office and runs smack dab into her love from the past Blade. This knocks her for a loop because this is the last thing she expects when she goes in the office to pitch her idea for an article on BDSM.
I felt that this was a good read and a good second chance romance (which I love) I just felt as though the falling back in love with each other part was to quick. Maybe because this is a shorter book it had to happen fast, I just felt that it was too fast. Other than that I felt is was a good book.

This was a sweet and hilarious book plus how often do you get a second chance at love. Angelina and Blade were a couple in love 3yrs ago but that all changed when Angelina left with any notice of why. 3 yrs later working as a editor for a local paper she meets her new boss, which happens to be Blade. She is surprised to say the least but they soon discover that the feelings are still there and they move a little to fast in my book but I guess if its love, it works. There are some funny parts, such as Rat the cat and a moment where you just want to slap the crap out of a girl. This book was a delight to read.

When Angelina steps into her bosses office to show him a article for the magazine.. she is stopped in her tracks because its not her boss.. it is ex lover Blade.. she finds out her boss retired blade is her new boss..she didn't know what to think because after a kiss she found out he is married . and realizing running away from him was not the best idea. she still has deep feelings for him as he for her... But there is another out there that doesn't want this paring to happen. this was a pretty good story told about love second chance..I was giggling at some parts..I give this read 4 masks! ~Rachel
