Really liked this. Ms Nardin's book is from 1985, the height of "Pym-mania", and reflects some lack of knowledge in certain areas of Pym's life, not to mention that a couple of novels from the archive, which would subsequently be published, had not yet been released. But this is just to situate the volume in its context. Nardin has a wide-ranging, intuitive understanding of Pym's novels, of their place within the broader canon of English literature, and the many themes and concerns of the author's work. A reliable volume.
