Fairly standard in terms of story, but nothing upsetting or annoying about it. The writing is a bit juvenile, but otherwise a fairly okay read. Will re-read again someday to give a more detailed review, but not much to say about it offhand.

Great Indian read. Its not often im in the mood to read Indian romances but when I do, I like to pick up one that will stir my mind.
Kohanah is a prisoner of Marilla's father, the lieutenant. From the moment she laid eyes on him when she got to her father's fort, she can't seem to forget him.
Kohanah is a prisoner of the white man after having rebelled against the white man's rule. His future seems bleak until Marilla shows up. She's a beacon of light in his dark world 🌎. He knows she's his only hope. His peoples only hope.
But in order to have their HEA, they will have to conquer all battles, fight for their love, fight against the white man for their rights.

Kohanah is a strong Kiowa chief trying to do his best for his people. Trying to adapt to all the changes. Marilla is a love struck white woman. I dont really like her character. She cannot see past kohanah. Her world revolves around everything he does. I wish she was more stronger. A warrior to match his prowess.

This story is an ancient retelling of the modern day fifty shades of grey. The amount of sex happening between kohanah and Marilla is staggering 🤦‍♀️. They are going at it like 🐇.

The enemy, Jason Roark, I felt like he had too many opportunities to do wrong which were unnecessary. He should have been dealt with from the first instance.

However if you are looking to go back into the past to know the struggles of the natives and the unjustices committed against them by the whites , this may be a romance and it may be a small step but its a great book to start with.

Edward's Savage series are my guilty pleasure. But after many years of various reading, I didn't enjoy this as much as I used to. I still enjoy the Indian tribes and the historical parts. However, the high amount of sex seemed to be constantly interrupting the story line and seemed awkwardly out of place.

First Cassie Edwards novel and I LOVED IT!!! Marilla was such a likable character and her passion for education was lovely to see! She was also incredibly determined and resolute in her actions. She always tried her hardest when she put her mind to something which I found very admirable :) Kohannah was also a great ML! He truly cared about her and though there was insta-love, something I’m thinking may be a pattern in her novels, it felt very natural. The romance was also handled in a mature way and I felt drawn into Kohannah’s internal conflicts regarding his love for a white woman vs his position as Chief.

The plot, I feel, did pretty good in highlighting the difficulties faced by the Native Americans at the time and that sadness I felt while reading about their experiences was like a cloud looming over the story. The oppression and hatred of the Natives was a consistent theme and major plot point.

The villain’s (Jason Roark I think was his name) motivations, in my opinion were quite shallow. He just wanted to have sex with Marilla and because of that spread rumors about her, killed people, and terrorized the Natives in order to possess her. I just don’t think his want for Marilla actually was enough of a justification for him to be so cruel to so many other characters. Get over it!!!! Such an annoying character I was more invested in the Native vs US government sub-plot and the romance itself.

She was the lieutenants daughter, he was the lieutenants prisoner. But beautiful, golden haired Marilla could not deny her secret longings for the handsome red skinned warrior they called Kohanah. And in the sultry hush of a summers night , Kohanahas dungeon cell became a forbidden paradise if rapturous delight as Marilla surrendered to the fiery ecstasy of his powerful embrace...

Sneaking behind her fathers back to see Kohanah while he was in prison didn't sit very well with one of the other soldiers that wanted her for himself. Marillas father relized that his daughter was falling in love with the Indian chief so he went out of his way to make his stay in prison as pleasant as he could. When he was finally let out of prison he and Marilla wanted to make a life together as husband and wife, but this other soldier Jason was going to do everything he could to put a stop to it.

I felt like the story line would be going along really well then all of a sudden be cut short so they could have there make out session... There were ALOT of make out sessions in this story that I didn't care for. I like some steamy make out sessions here and there but not every chapter, a bit much for my liking... I like the adventuress story line that I'm use to Cassie writing a lot better than this one that's why I'm only giving it 4 instead of my usual 5 stars for her story. Still a very good read just a bit too much smut for me...
