The biggest issue I'm having with this series is that the narrative is unfocused and it just feels like a bunch of random vignettes.

Now the author keeps adding new, strange relationships to the story, while the protagonist dithers on what he will do. I bought them, so I'll read them. Three to go. Ugh!
