Roy Simms is about to make full partner in a big NYC law firm. His wife, Teri, assures him that once they reach their career goals, they can relax and enjoy life...maybe even consider starting a family. He's not sure how much longer their marriage can survive if they don't make time for one another. One evening of passion and spanking makes him ache for the connection they've almost lost. Teri Simms doesn't understand why Roy needs so much prodding to reach for the stars. With his education and talent, he should be senior partner long since. But he'll get there. Her own vice presidency occurred only five years into her tenure with the financial firm, and if it takes seventeen hours a day and most of her weekends, so be it. Roy will just have to continue to be understanding.
A phone call from a stranger will change everything. This double-income-no-kids couple is a family, due to the tragic death of Teri's sister and brother-in-law. They must fly immediately to Corbin's Bend, Colorado and take charge of little Ben, almost four years old. The change of scene brings to the forefront everything good and bad about their marriage. It's time to face some difficult truths.

Roy Simms and his wife Teri live in New York City, in a showcase penthouse apartment and are both stuck in the rat race. Roy is an attorney, hoping to make partner soon, Teri is a financial advisor. Their lifestyle has taken over their lives and their marriage. Everything has become mundane and routine. Roy shows up nearly two hours late for a dinner together, why, because he honestly didn't think he would find Teri at home. They each work twelve and thirteen hour days. They have a long talk where she starts with her attitude and her turns her over his knee and spanks her and then to the bedroom for what turns into very hot sex. The next morning, a phone call shatters her world. Roy has to tell her that her twin sister, Melinda, and her husband, Shane, have been in a hit and run accident where they were both killed upon impact. The fly from NYC to Corbin's Bend, just outside of Denver, CO to deal with the funeral and to become surrogate parents to Ben, their nephew.
Roy really falls in love with Corbin's Bend, a community for people who spank. He would like to move there and set up practice but is hesitant to sharing that news with Teri. She is such a workaholic that he doesn't think she would be willing to leave NYC. The day before they are to leave, she helps complete a mural painting that Melinda had started for the town and a conversation between them they decide that Corbin's Bend is a perfect fit for them. Roy will take over a law practice and she can still work from home while raising Ben.
Note: This is a domestic discipline story that is consensual and includes oral and anal sex.
I really enjoy reading about Corbin’s Bend. This story is about Teri and Roy. They have grown apart as they moved up the corporate ladder. Teri especially has very little time for a marriage. She works 12 hour days routinely. We start the story with Teri waiting for Roy to come home. He is late because he thought she would be. Teri needs to tell him that she has to postpone their vacation. He is furious and he pulls her over his lap and spanks her like he did in the early days of their marriage. They make love and the next thing Teri knows, it’s morning. But, rather than arguing about their vacation. Roy tells her that her twin sister and her husband were killed in a hit and run. They drop everything to go to their nephew. Teri is heartbroken, but shows her emotions in being angry with everyone. Roy starts to spank her for her behavior and their marriage starts to improve. Of course, neither of them knows that Corbin’s Bend is a spanking community, a place where they can feel accepted. There is a HEA to this story, but the ride there is great! My only gripe is that the story is so short. 5 stars
Roy and Teri Simms live extremely busy lives in New York. When first married Roy and Teri found the time to connect. The connections faded away as Teri became all about work and pushing Roy to become a partner in his firm. Teri has now become a shrew and Roy's stomach is a mess and he is so unhappy. Roy is so upset after finding out that Teri wants to put their vacation on hold he spanks her. The next day they receive awful news which sends them to Corbin Bends where their little nephew Ben waits for them and their eyes are opened to a new and different lifestyle. Roy likes Corbin's Bend and the people he meets there while Teri can not wait to leave and get back home to New York.
This story is enjoyable from beginning to end. Friends from past books pop up and new characters are introduced. This is the first book I've read by Kate Richards. I found her story telling to be honest, heart-warming and fun. This book does the series proud.

Another one of my favorite Corbin’s Bend books! This story deals with the tragic loss and how to deal with that loss. One little boy ends up saving a couple who didn’t know they needed saving until it was almost too late. This was a well written book and a great addition to the series. The sex was hot and the story line was something that tugged at your heartstrings because it could happen to anyone.
Characters: The characters were well written and believable.

This is one of the loveliest of the Corbin's Bend series that I have read. It is truly life affirming and refreshing. And I may have needed a tissue or two by the end. Lots of the stories have been about redemption, or escaping from stigma, but this is about rediscovering oneself, and reflecting on priorities ... the ease with which the daily grind becomes all encompassing. The journey for the lead characters is both emotional and intense - inside and outside of the bedroom.
Fabulous addition to the series - go read it and enjoy.
Roy and Teri are hardworking, career-oriented professionals who have a hard time finding tiem for each other. That is, until the death of Teri's sister.
A trip to Corbin's Bend to settle the estate and take charge of their nephew, Ben, also has the added effect of giving the couple time. Time with each other, time with Ben, and time to reflect.
Join the other couples of Corbin's Bend and see what all the fuss is about.
If you read the blurb then you know that Roy and Teri must travel to Corbin’s Bend to take care of their nephew after Teri’s sister and brother-in-law die. As such, you won’t be surprised to learn that you will likely need to keep a tissue or two handy while reading For Ben. This was an emotional read for me and I definitely made use of a tissue several times while reading this novella.
When the story opens, the reader gets to meet Teri and it’s easy to see where her goals and priorities are at and it’s not family. Teri is career-driven and money-oriented, and this makes her come off as rather cold in the beginning of the book. Her husband Roy has done well for himself at the law firm he works for, but is ready to start a family … a family he is beginning to think will not happen as his wife keeps putting it off. But fate forces their hand when they must assume guardianship of their nephew. As they spend time in Corbin’s Bend, waiting for Ben to adjust to his parents’ death, they are forced to slow down – or I should say, Teri is forced to slow down. While the Domestic Discipline elements in this book are limited, I must say that Teri definitely deserved the first spanking in the book and I could certainly sympathize with Roy’s need to reintroduce DD into their marriage.
I enjoyed that For Ben was in a large part more about the relationship renewal between Roy and Teri and their building of a family than it was about Domestic Discipline. Rather than making DD the primary focus of this novella, the author weaved a story in which DD served as a tool that helped to strengthen their marriage. This was a very well-written book and I look forward to checking out more of Ms. Richards’s books as well as other books in the Corbin’s Bend series.

In a struggling marriage, Teri and Roy are both high executive professionals that lead basically separate lives. When the phone call comes in that Teri’s identical twin and her husband have been killed in a tragic accident, their lives are turned upside down. But the question now is, Who will take care of 4 year old little Ben? Having nothing that ever tied them down before, this new life curve ball changes both Teri and Roy’s outlook on life. When they finally realize what the community, Corbin’s Bend, is all about, will they run for their life or embrace it with open arms in order to not only keep Ben stable and in a routine, but to save their marriage? A terribly sad story, that is wonderfully written, and has the reader vying for all involved, from the beginning. People can change and become better, and this story is a true example for this. The Corbin’s Bend usual sexy scenes and lifestyle is interspersed throughout, but never overshadowing the plot. A great addition to Corbin’s Bend!
Oh wow, this story was amazing! It was filled with so many emotions- so beautifully written. I felt Teri’s pain over the huge loss of her sister; I truly empathized with Roy’s conflicted over his desires to lead his little family, but not wanting Teri to run from him; and the wonderful relationships with the secondary characters from Corbin’s Bend.
The tragedy over the big accident, and their care over their nephew, four year old Ben, took over their original needs of career pursuit. Which was in fact, ruining their marriage.
The sex was hot, especially after a few of the spankings. And the spankings- oh my! Some lovely nonconsensual spankings that were just plain hot!
They were done very well, and using Roy’s POV helped me further relate to this great guy, just trying to keep his family together. This seriously was his last resort.
And it made for an even more believable story.
I loved it!
This was a fantastic addition to the Corbin’s Bend series!
