Twisted Vows #4

A Forbidden Arrangement

Rate this book
A one-night stand is supposed to be my escape… not my cage.

I fall into Xander Everette’s arms the night my life unravels.
Rich. Ruthless. Untouchable. Devastatingly handsome.
He gives me one night of pleasure I’ll never forget.
I tell myself I can walk away.
Then I witness a murder. Now I am hunted, dragged into a world I don’t understand.
And the only man who can protect me is the one I swore I would never trust again.
But Xander doesn’t want to save me.
He wants to claim me. His name inked on my skin. His ring on my finger.
The longer I’m in his grip, the clearer it becomes.
The real danger isn’t the men chasing me.
It’s the beautiful monster who refuses to let me go.

Dahlia meets Xander when she discovers her fiance has been cheating and well one thing led to another and the 2 have a one night. Dahlia thinks its only one night but Xander has plans before he can even execute it Dahlia sees something when she runs away. Which has Xander trying to find his woman not knowing shes in danger.
Once he finds her he makes sure shes with him so he marries them and now shes stuck with him. And his crazy family lol.
They also have to deal with the guy trying to hurt his woman.
This one had less drama on who wants to hurt the family.
The brothers are amazing like always and I loved the girl bonding between the woman.

I wanna short story with the girls. :)
I kinda want the kids to have a story. But if its the end. It was perfect.

Tiny om drama, no cheating, slight secondary character, drama, sexy times, no virgins

A Forbidden Arrangement was a fun, messy ride. The tension and chemistry between the leads are definitely the highlight — steamy, complicated, and full of the kind of forbidden pull that makes you keep turning pages. I enjoyed the emotional moments too, though some of them felt a bit predictable or rushed.
The plot hits the key beats you expect from this kind of romance, and a few twists felt more convenient than earned. Still, the story is engaging enough that I didn’t really mind, and the ending wraps up satisfyingly.

Xander is the Everett brother I was waiting for, the one who was never going to fall, but falls in a single night, the most mysterious one.
Dahlia runs away from her fiancé with nothing to meet Xander in a bar, and although everything is perfect, she ends up running away again.

Xander won't stop until he finds her. Dahlia will find much more than a man obsessed with her; she will find a whole family, a life she never dreamed of.

This book is the perfect ending to the series about billionaires obsessed with their women, a secret society that pulls the strings of business and politics, brothers and the fantastic sisters who become part of this great family.

📖
“I think I would die without you by my side. I promise you. If you feel weak, I’ll help you become strong. If you’re greedy, I’ll get you riches. If you want power, I’ll make the world kneel at your feet.”

Excellent conclusion to the series. While it’s not my favorite of the four books, I did still absolutely love it. It has all the best things the other Everette brothers’ books did - red flags and obsessive and possessive love. I had a great time reading this. I do wish there had been more scenes with the whole family than there were. I received this as an ARC in exchange for my review.

“So long as you’ll have me, I will always be your monster.”

Get ready for Xander to become your favorite Everette brother! I fell for him immediately and just kept loving him more as the book went on. His red flags are all green to me!

It's hard being the last brother to find "the one", but boy, did he hang on tightly once he got Dahlia in his sights. One night stand to a forced marriage (with a side of house arrest) to a HEA. It just took some gentle nudging (and lots of orgasms) to get Dahlia on his side.

A Forbidden Arrangement is a mixed-burn and very spicy MF interconnected standalone romance that ends in a HEA. I highly recommend reading the series in release order for greatest enjoyment.

Thank you, J. Wilder, for the e-ARC.

This is the second book of this series I’ve tried to read (I DNFed Bash’s book) and unfortunately I just can’t get into them. I did finish this one but it was incredibly boring. There’s very little plot or smut, and to me Dahlia doesn’t have much personality. Maybe it’s because I’ve read very similar books that I’ve loved that the standard was set so high, but she doesn’t try to escape; he really doesn’t do much to “woo” her, and what was the randomness of the tattoo?

Tropes are insta love, forced proximity, ott possessive hero. I think the steam is mild and most of the book is waiting for her to give him a chance and tell him the reason why she ran after their one night stand but even that plot was lackluster.

Thank you J Wilder for the arc.
Xander has been an interesting character, he was the most quiet and mysterious brother and his book did not disappoint. The beginning had me hooked: the plot started right away and I was curious about both Dahlia and Xander's relationship and the action plot. I liked how their love story developed, especially how protective Xander was; the middle of the book was so focused on their relationship that I forgot there was supposed to be someone after Dahlia, so I believe it could have been handled better. Overall it was an entertaining read and a really good ending for the series.

This was such a beautiful read, I truly enjoyed it.

It has forced marriage, close proximity, a one-night stand, and so much more.

The story follows Dahlia and Xander — Dahlia walks into a bar heartbroken after discovering her fiancé’s betrayal, ends up having a one-night stand with Xander, and disappears afterward.
But Xander? He goes to great lengths to find her again. From that first night, he knew she was his, and nothing was going to change that.

I love how Xander loves Dahlia — it was so beautiful to read.

The Everette brothers were amazing as always, and this book was such a perfect way to wrap up the series.

This is a 4.5-star read, and I recommend it.

DNF at 30% this book started out good I’m not really a fan of insta love in a story but it was fine. The FMC was so bland and boring to me. First she finds out her fiancee is cheating on her she does confront him about it that was the only time she showed a backbone. Second she leaves her one night who happens to be a billionaire because things would get complicated like girl what?! You have no job no home and you decide to leave him. Third she sees a some dude get shot and runs away moves to Maine to work at a diner she sees her one night stand on tv shaking hands with the guy who was trying to kill her then she makes this stupid assumption that Xander her one night stand was working with him the whole time I couldn’t take it then he finds her she gets caught in the crossfires of a gun fight ends up in the hospital and Xander meanwhile is forging a marriage certificate and tattoos his name on her finger Xander was very obsessed spending most of his time trying to track down Dahlia don’t get me wrong I love an obsessed MMC but he literally didn’t do anything else I could already tell how it was gonna go sorry Dahlia x Xander.

Being in the wrong place at the wrong time is all it took for Dahlia. Fleeing from her one night stand with Xander, Dahlia finds herself a witness to something she was never supposed to see. Now she's on the run with a new name and a new life. Resulting in Xander being on a never ending search for her but he's not the only one.

By the time Xander finds her, he is willing to do anything to keep her. An unhinged, over protective 🚩 billionaire going to every length for his girl 🥵 but wanting her to choose him just the same. Another banger to finish out an addictive series!

I absolutely loved this! Finished in one sitting. Oh, what i would do to have an Everette brother, lol.

I'm gutted to be leaving these characters, I've loved this series. These grumpy, cold, scary, and powerful men that turn into big softies for their girls 😍 i love that sh!t lol. Great ending to the series!

This is the fourth and final book in the Twisted Vows series and I am so sad it’s over. Dahlia just found her fiancé cheating and when he tried to gaslight her, she ends things. She has no one and nowhere to go. The last few years she’s made her life all about her finance. Dahlia has been mindlessly walking in the rain when she passes a club and decides to go in for a drink. She’s getting hit on by some creep when Xander steps in. Xander is immediately obsessed and when he asks her “Who the F* €k made you cry?” …swoon. Dahlia decides to explore this attraction with this handsome stranger for the night and forget how her world has imploded. Xander quickly realizes that one night won’t be enough for him, but she leaves the next morning before he can ask her to stay. When she exits the hotel’s side entrance she witnesses an unaliving and runs for her life. Xander was the quiet brother, all sharp edges, drowning himself in work when she turned his world upside down. He has spent the last two months searching for her. Xander finally finds her, but only because someone else is looking too. He makes it just in time to save her. Before Dahlia looses consciousness she sees Xander talking to the man that has been after her and worries Xander is there to hurt her too. Now that Xander has her back, he’s not letting her go again. So in true Everett brother fashion, he forges a marriage license while she’s unconscious in the hospital. Dahlia decides to stay quiet about why she ran until she understands what’s going on. Xander does all he can to make her fall for him. Dahlia doesn’t give in easily, making him work for it. She’s finally feeling like she’s found a place where she belongs and begins trusting that Xander isn’t going to leave like everyone else. This story is more about their relationship and their growth. I loved seeing the other couples and the brother’s group chat was hilarious. No one loves like an Everette brother. They are unhinged, obsessive and possessive to the point of insanity but the red flags in this family are all green.

3 ⭐️ I’m a sucker for those OTT, possessive, pierced males who will do ANYTHING for their women. It’s all so unbelievable, but it still makes for a good read. (Possible spoilers ahead)

This book starts with h walking in on her fiancée (OM) shagging another woman. The audacity of the OM trying to blame HER for his cheating. 🤨 Anyway, she goes to a bar to drown her sorrows and meets H. Holy filthy mouth. It doesn’t take long for her to follow him back to his penthouse. 😂 Let me tell ya, I was laughing sooooo hard when the OM kept calling her, so H answered the call and left it so OM COULD HEAR EVERY SINGLE MOMENT OF THEIR HOOKUP
Perfect payback!

H knows from the moment he meets h- she’s the one. 🙃

h sneaks out before H wakes. As she’s leaving, she witnesses a murder. She recognizes the killer, but doesn’t know offhand where from. She hops on a bus and leaves to start a new life.

It’s a few months later. H has been looking for her everywhere. She’s in Maine working as a waitress. She sees a news report and sees H shaking hands with the killer aka Elliot. Now she wonders if they work together

H finds out where h is. He arrives right as Elliot arrives to kill her. Elliot plays it off and pretends like he was saving her. h wakes from her injuries and H has already married/tattooed her. 😂😂😂 He takes her back to his house basically as a prisoner.

So for a while, she doesn’t trust him. He slowly starts to earn her trust. She’s kidnapped at a gala (still confused on why Elliot planned to kill her at the gala) but H arrives in time and eliminates Elliot.

The secret society stuff amounts to nothing much in this book.

Really…..that’s all that happens. The plot is resolved early and the big part of this book is h learning to trust/love H. And the found family with the other brother/wives.

There’s a small bit at the end where Elliot’s dad tries to kill her, but that’s taken care of quickly. She is in the hospital when the Dr announces “the baby is fine” which both MCs are like “wut?”

The epilogue was a little of a let down. It was a year later and the family got together. H and h already had their daughter. All the kids were playing….and that was basically it. 🤷‍♀️

The spice was spicy, but there’s not a lot of it in this book.

This is just a ME preference, but I do wish the author would’ve mentioned h doing *something* more with her life after her HEA with H.

I can’t say this is a book I would read again, but it was interesting enough I didn’t skim or DNF.

“In a life full of sins, she is my only salvation.”

Jessa saved the best for last in the Everette brothers bc Xander is definitely my favorite. This man would LITERALLY burn the world down if an anyone tried to hurt Dahlia and also was the sweetest, soft centered brother. Literally, this man did no wrong in my eyes.

Xander has one night with Dahlia and is instantly hooked. I loved that he called her his wife before it was even true. Oh and he did make her his wife, unconscious or not, her name was on the license. These men literally had no bounds that cannot be reached.

Dahlia was literally so sweet and just the right amount of sass for Xander. She did not let this man get away with anything. Their banter was chefs kiss in this book. And the fact that she was tripping over herself bc this man was wearing glasses, a woman after my own heart.

I think what really solidified everything for me though was how patient Xander was. Yes, I know, forced marriage. But after, he wanted her to trust him herself and never pushed her. He was the right amount of possessive and obsessive, unhinged at time but aren’t all the best love stories like that? If he ain’t obsessed, I don’t want it. I love this book from start to finish and am sad for the series to be done.

Tropes:
✨Next level obsessed
✨Red flag billionaire
✨One night stand
✨Forced marriage
✨Secret society

I forgot how over the top the Everett brothers were. Matthias will always be my favorite but Xander definitely gave a bit of competition. Because what do you mean his entire staff keeps saying how he can’t stop talking about her and is completely different with her around !! The plot was the only thing that I feel may not be everyone’s favorite. It sort of felt like it ended quite fast, but me personally I didn’t mind that. I’m so sad this series is over I love it so much. Totally recommend if you want obsessed morally gray men.

If you’re wanting an OTT MMC, and a feisty FMC look no further. I think this one was my favorite of the series because Xander was insane in all of the best ways. This book has some suspense, and a lot of spice!

Xander pulled out all of the stops to get Dahlia to forgive him and trust him, and I think next to Damon he’s my favorite MMC in this series. The brothers were still hilarious fighting over their “sister” and all of the wives got involved too, of course.

My only “complaint” with this book is the conflict that happens with Dahlia is resolved very quickly. So I guess I wish this book was maybe 50-100 pages longer!

Overall if you’re wanting a possessive MMC and a book that is mostly focused on the MCs relationship then you’ll definitely want to read this one. It was a fun time!

Thank you so much to the author, J Wilder for the arc! I can’t wait to see what crazy MMC you write next 🖤

ARC Review:
Well, I officially dub Jessa Wilder the Queen of possessive alphas. 👑

What a fantastic end to this series! Xander was always this mystery to me when reading the previous books. Let me tell you. He did not disappoint me! This man is next level possessive. Probably the most possessive one of all the Everette brothers. And I’m not going to lie, I found it very attractive. What does that say about me? The things this man did to stack his claim on Dahlia. That was INSANE!

It was a wild ride and I was hooked from the very beginning. The story line was great. The relationship building was strong (After a few hiccups of course). And the spice was freaking hot. I do wish the book was a little bit longer. I just feel like it needed a few more chapters to expand on a few key things.

I did find it kind of odd that Xanders past wasn’t brought up in this book. Especially to Dahlia so she could understand why he is the way he is. But let’s just be honest, he is an Everette. He was literally born to be a morally gray possessive alpha.

The FMC and MMC were perfect for each other. Dahlia had a hard past and really needed to find someone to take care of her for once and Xander is ultimately a protector to the core!

One night stand • forced marriage • red flag billionaire • over-the-too MMC •

Leaving her ex after catching him cheating, Dahlia finds herself alone in a bar to drown her sorrows. Enter the handsome Xander. Dahlia witnesses something while sneaking away after her night with Xander, and goes on the run.

She finds freedom for a short time. Who finds her first?

I loved the couple’s dynamic. The banter was there eventually. Gotta love the burn-the-world demeanor.
The spice, good.
The tension, yes, please.

Xander is the definition of MAN-OBSESSED and I'm not mad about it. There are worse things in life than waking up as Mrs. Everette, I mean sign me up. He is absolutely insane but in the best of way, he selfless and swoony and goddamn the mouth on this mannnnnnnnnn! Xander and Dahlia's story evolves from such a tragedy, and their love grows so organically and in a perfect timely manner. The way it goes from hate like true murderous hate, to love and understanding had me in complete awe. I cried soooo many times because of the emotional roller coaster this book took me on. Jessa ended this series so perfectly and on such a high note! <3

This book was soooo good. I had read book one but not the others and this one has made me want to go back to read the entire series. Xander is not only an obsessive walking red flag but he becomes a vicious protector, his devotion for Dahlia stars from the very beginning and it only grows from there. The suspense around the plot was palpable and the spicy scenes were top notch. Loved the darkness but also the banter and found family feeling we get from the rest of the family welcoming Dahlia and making her one of them. Great story!!!

This story is incredibly sweet and adorable. I adore Xander and Dahlia; they were perfect for one another. The chemistry between them was fantastic!🤌🏻😘💞 They complemented each other beautifully, and even though he had a strong presence, I appreciated how protective he was of her. The tension in the plot was intense, and the steamy scenes were outstanding.🔥😉 I enjoyed the darker elements as well as the playful banter and the sense of family that emerged as the rest of the family embraced Dahlia and welcomed her into their circle. It was a wonderful story!!!😂🙌🏻👌🏻💯

The story kicks off with Dahlia having what can only be described as a catastrophic evening. She walks in on her fiancé—yes, the man she’s supposed to marry—balls deep in someone who absolutely isn’t her. Cue the gaslighting, the excuses, the absolute audacity. But Dahlia does the smartest thing she’s done in years: she gets the hell out. Straight to a bar, equal parts furious and heartbroken, trying to drown the whole mess in something strong.

Enter Xander. Handsome, intense, a little too observant… and immediately stepping in to stop some creep from putting hands on her. Dahlia’s in that “why not, let a gorgeous stranger ruin my life a little” mood, but Xander? He’s already mentally moved her into his house and put a ring on her finger. And by the time she wakes up in the hospital, she finds out he actually did—the man made her his wife while she was unconscious. Unhinged? Yes. But also the start of something wildly unexpected.

What I loved is how their dynamic shifts once Dahlia regains her footing. She’s tough, smart, resourceful—no one’s consolation prize. And it takes her time to unravel the difference between obsession and control… and to realize that with Xander, that intensity comes wrapped in protection and loyalty, not ownership. When she stands her ground, she stands. And Xander’s possessive devotion meets its match in her strength, turning him into a man willing to stand behind her, stand beside her, or drop to a knee if that’s what she needs.

And because it wouldn’t be an Everette book without family chaos, the brothers show up to give Xander every ounce of hell he deserves. The group chats? Elite. The wives? Absolute queens welcoming Dahlia like she’s been part of the family since chapter one. It’s warm, funny, messy, and exactly the kind of found-family energy that makes this series so addictive.

By the end, I was torn—completely satisfied with how perfectly everything wrapped up, yet genuinely sad to say goodbye to this wild, unhinged, fiercely loyal crew. Xander was the cherry on top of an already unforgettable series, and Dahlia? She was exactly the match he needed.
