This is the type of book that you finish, and though the ending was perfect and completely satisfying, you can't help asking for more just because it was that good.

Okay, I had this ebook sitting in my shelf for a quite a while- for some stupid reason, I kept putting it off. I had no idea what to expect and I wasn't sure I'd like the book, however, by the time I reached the second chapter, I was completely hooked. I literally could not put this book down (I even put off lunch just to keep reading). I don't think I ever finished a book in just 3 hours.

I can't. I just can't write a decent review- I wouldn't know where to start. The characters ? Fell in love with all of them. I love how you watch Lexie grow from a scared, helpless little girl to strong, independent woman. Dear Stars, I love Chai. Gosh he's the epitome of swoon-worthy . I'd read Extinction all over again, just for him. I love the characters surrounding Lexie, I seriously wish I could have my own Gaios and Arianna- they're just the two perfect best friends that every person needs in their life. I want Erich! Gosh I fell in love with his character instantly, and gaah I want to say more, but I don't want to give anything away. Anyways, I hate Emily. I hate hate hated her from the moment she was introduced. Lexie's father Robert and the Vandelrizi make decent villains I absolutely hated.

Daleen did a wonderful job creating an interesting dystopian world . I loved the concept of it all. (Bonus, there's this one scene that I swear had been taken straight from my own personal fantasy. I'm sure hopeless romantics or those fascinated by the stars will love it as well)

I can't even write a decent review just because.. I don't know. Extinction just has that effect on me right now. I can't believed I actually finished reading and I'm sad because I WANT MORE

Lovers and fans of Divergent and Of Beast and Beauty will surely love this book. I swear, if you have Extinction at your local bookshop, grab a copy NOW. I swear upon the life of my unborn child that you will not regret it- I certainly didn't. I seriously loved the whole story, concept, and all the characters (see? I'm even being repetitive it's so frustrating). I hate that not many people have had the pleasure of reading this book- I promise, they are missing out.

I'd like to thank the author for giving me a free copy of this book. It truly was amazing and I'm so looking forward to reading more from you.

This YA novel makes you remember why you love reading. Lexie is a teenager who has had a hard life. If that wasn't enough, Earth is no longer as it was. Aliens have taken over and a free world is long forgotten. Humans are at the bottom of the food chain, slaves to those who have captured their world. But Lexie, a strong willed heroine who refuses to accept what life has become, hasn't given up. On a mission to do all she can for the human race and those whose bondage is anything less than human, she's willing to risk all to make a difference. It' during her most daring feat when she meets warrior, Chai. The chemistry between these two is flawless, but will readers get what they hope for? Maybe not, as Lexie's biggest enemy is none other than her father, a father who refuses to provide any aid when she desperately needs it. Facing her fate, time is running out. Should she have just become like the others, an overworked slave adapting to the new Earth which is changing day by day?

I recommend this novel to teens who love adventure and triumph, as well as to adults who would love reading something different and original. Hats off to Daleen Viljoen for giving us this one. Bravo!

Ok, are you freaking kidding me?? Whole chapters are devoted to the mc whining about the guy she's known for about a week dating her "best friend" (the plot on that utterly predictable) but it takes about a page to fight the bad guy??? It seemed like the main part of the story was the annoying, predictable romance, while the bits with promise were just chucked in with as little detail as possible.

And the spelling and grammar. There were whole sections with no commas at all, then random ones put where they weren't actually needed. The story was set in past tense, but then it would go into present for a few sentences then back to past. Some sentences were so badly worded they didn't even make sense, and characters' names had a habit of changing from page to page.

The highlights of this book for me were the sexual tension scenes, which the author writes exceptionally well (this is something that most writers find very hard to do); and the ever-expanding plot line, which I really enjoyed. Those were the first two stars.

For me to give the last three stars, the characters need to be more than either heroic or evil, the writing would contain less cliches, and more in-depth editing and proof reading would be applied.

I think the author is feeling her way towards becoming a good dystopian novelist and I look forward to seeing how her work grows from here.

A relaxing weekend book. Loved the romance. Was too short and the bad guy could use more screentime. But i iked the mc and the love at first sight. Would like to see what she writes next
