Purple hibiscus~ Chimamanda ngozi adichie.

🌻Sometimes you pick up a book that has such a great effect on you and you feel like you have lived another person's life while you read it..

🌻Adichie has this incredible talent for making the reader lose themselves in the story. combines complex issues: religion, corruption, politics, traditional believes, feminism and so on..

🌻Kambili - a 15 year old girl, lives with her older brother- Jaja and her parents and has a privileged life, lives in a beautiful house, studying in a missionary school.

Looks perfect, right?

But, things are less perfect than they appear.
The households revolves around her father- Eugene. Who is a successful man in terms of financial status, philanthropist and very much connected with his religious institution and living according to its regulations.
He is adulate for his generosity to his community but at home he's a dictator and an abuser.

Kambilis and Jajas Life is strictly regulated by schedules pinned above their desk, menus displayed in kitchen.

They think it's normal how a household works until they goes to their aunt's (Ifeoma's) place, They learn to live, laugh and enjoy. A world and beautiful people around them teaches them that, a person does not need a lot of money to laugh and live a contented life.

🌻It's strong, emotional and just sufficient to tug at the right cord of your heart. It disgusted at times when I read about the religious extremism of her father. And in other hand my heart gave out in aunt Ifeoma's love and amiabilty.

The ending is cherry on top. 💗

The book taut with emotions, is about two children "Kambili" and "Jaja"along with their mother who were victim of a religiously fanatic father, Papa Eugene, who himself was the victim of colonial cultural bomb. Kambili and Jaja learnt to speak their mind when they met Aunty Ifeoma and her three children when they visited to Nsukka. Unlike Kambili and Jaja, they were outspoken and expressed their views freely mostly in Igbo, their native language rather than English which Papa Eugene believed is the way of life. The book is a battle between traditional and modern gods which made the man blind of their faith and hence cruel.
