Zoe always loved Calvin, who left Major, Alabama after high school and joined the military, never knowing her feelings. They are reunited five years later, and their passion runs hot. As Zoe's life is rocked with bombshells, Calvin leads the way, teaching Zoe to follow the rhythm of her heart.
Scarlett Jade is just a small town girl with big dreams who loves to write. She has always been found from a young age with her brow furrowed, scribbling words on paper or her nose in a book. Now that she is grown, life isn't much different, she still scribbles words, but mostly on the computer, and her nose is permanently glued to e-books! She is married to the man of her dreams, her real life knight in shining armor and Prince Charming and has one son who is the apple of her eye. You can typically find her playing in the dirt with her son, toying with her indoor vegetable garden, or snuggled on the couch with her dog Peanut Butter and cat Jelly, reading a good book. She loves chocolate, thinks coffee should be a religion, and loves to make people laugh with her quirky sense of humor. She is bold, brazen, and even been told she's ballsy, but she doesn't mind, she takes it in stride. She has a huge passion for all things paranormal and spicy love stories that leave you turning the pages and dying to slide between the sheets of the next book!
Almost 3 stars, so I rounded up. This book has a lot of great reviews, but for me.. it fell a little short of being really good. Don't get me wrong, it has potential, it's but not quite there. This book has details, many details - there's a lot of scenes with small, mostly useless details that I felt were just padding the page number count, slowed down the pacing of the book, and made it difficult for me to get through parts of it.
Calvin was a nice hero, great family. Zoe was nice enough, and she had been dealt a crappy hand in life, especially in a short amount of time, but I didn't warm up to her.
The gimmick, (ok maybe gimmick isn't the right word), the novelty, or uniqueness with this book is the hero's POV is written by a male, the heroine's POV is written by a female and these co-authors are married, they're also an interracial couple as are the H and h. There isn't much conflict dealing with that, in fact only one scene, if I recall correctly, and Calvin deals with it before it can become a problem. Maybe I'm naive or oblivious, but I'm not really sure I would have realized they were an interracial couple if I didn't know before I started reading the book. For a young mixed couple living in the south, I think they were doing ok in terms of acceptance but I think it helped living in their hometown. I thought there might be more conflict with this issue, but there really wasn't
There's insta love to this romance story, and the ending felt rushed, but it also felt like a set-up for another book. I don't think it's a cliff-hanger per se, but the authors have left the door open for more story.. either for this couple or for a secondary character to get their own book. I would have been quite happy with an epilogue.. I do love me an epilogue.. but I'll settle for a follow-up novella because I'm curious about "where to from here" for Calvin and Zoe, but theirs isn't a story I'd pay a lot of cold hard cash for.
Who says a summer romance ever has to end? What if thousands of miles and a war separated you? Would you keep dancing? Or would it simply be… a September Tango?
To answer that question after reading the book I would have to say I would keep dancing! I believe that long distance love can workout, I’m a former Navy Brat and my parents did it. I mean my Dad wasn’t involved in any wars, but he did have to leave us for months at a time and one time a whole year! Their love was strong enough for them to stay together; well I’m sure having two kids in the mix was a reason for it too. Lol! I digress.
Zoe Parker has it pretty hard! Her boyfriend and best friend she finds out have been sleeping together behind her back and in public for the whole town to see. Her mom died recently, her Dad isn’t the same since she died, and is never around, she was laid off her job, and to top it all off it’s summer and hot as all hell! Yea I felt like she was experiencing a little bit of hell. The girl just has no luck it seemed like. I was pulling for some happiness to come her way as I was reading. My heart felt like it was going to explode because of the pain I felt for and with her. And when I think this is going to be the whole story she sees a handsome man at the airport that will no doubt change her life.
Calvin Hall enlisted into the military after high school and hasn’t been home in 5 long years! He is coming home to parents that were killed in a car accident and he was unable to attend their funeral do to his orders in the Military. He is coming back to his sister and grandparents and a small town where little has changed, but Calvin is not the same guy he was before he left. The military has changed him for the better in my eyes, but everyone has their shit to deal with. He is expecting to come home and relax until his leave is over in two weeks. What he doesn’t expect is to meet Zoe Parker, and have his life change even more.
I enjoyed reading September Tango, it was different from most of the books I read, but it was refreshing to break away from my normalcy. The chemistry described between the two characters makes you think back to the first time you really, really, really fell in love and it makes you think of all the heartache and friends you may have lost and gained in life. How life has its downs, but when you least expect it has a lot of great ups!
I love that the couple in this story is interracial. I honestly have not read a lot of books that have this aspect of it and a thoroughly enjoyed it.
One of my favorite aspects of this book and what also peeked my interest in wanting to read this book is that a male wrote for the character of Calvin! I love to know what a man is thinking and how he thinks, and why he thinks the things he thinks. I absolutely love it! I’m thinking that is why the sex scenes are so hot and steamy because they are coming from not only a female perspective by a male’s as well. That doesn’t happen very often! It’s all about chemistry man, and the chemistry is fire in this book!
A lot happens in this book and you will never be bored. Both characters even though they have been through so much, they are both very strong people and I can relate to having to rely only on yourself and that it is hard to allow someone else in to help you from time to time. I love that the two of them found solace in each other.
And yes there is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end (cliffhangers and I have a love hate relationship) and I’m praying that there will be a book 2! I need to know what will come of Calvin and Zoe! There just wasn’t enough time! Lol!
Unfortunately for me it was just okay.. the story seemed a bit far fetched for me. There is no connection or spark between these two characters that the reader has any knowledge of that causes them to come together. The whole story is based on 5-7 days and after a couple of hours the couple was on "I love you". The language seemed more crude than "country". But that is just my opinion..
September Tango was a fun contemporary romance that was loosely based on a true story. I loved the true story aspect because I definitely believe in love at first sight –two people finding each other and knowing instantly that they belong together— and I know it happens (because it happened to me). I love that the two authors who co-wrote the book were writing their love story. I just think it’s sweet!
I absolutely loved the setting of September Tango. It was a small Alabama town in the middle of summer. I felt the stifling heat, the humidity, and the utter hopelessness that comes with living in a dead end town. I felt Zoe’s despair and frustration and the way it paralleled with the stifling heat really drove the point home.
Calvin returned home for R&R from Afghanistan and was instantly drawn to Zoe. Their connection was strong and their love story was great. Zoe had a ton of issues to deal with and get over due to her father, ex-boyfriend, and so-called friends treating her terribly, but Calvin really got through to her. I loved reading about their love story and seeing their journey from classmates to soul mates. I also loved the supporting characters, mainly Calvin’s wonderful family members and friends. They made me laugh and were exactly what Zoe needed in her life, aside from Calvin. Pops was definitely my favorite character.
I loved their love story and felt a kinship with Zoe and Calvin because I also fell for a military man myself (though not Army). When the two of them were getting set up with ID/Deers and enrolling in Tricare and having to deal with last minute changes in schedules and trying to make a new place home, I totally related. I loved being able to relate to the situation and, while most people might not understand having to wait for the man you love to get back from deployment or why on earth anyone would do such a thing, I get it and I understand all of the complicated emotions that come with it.
September Tango had a great plot, but I felt like a lot of the story was rushed and choppy. Even if the events unfolded that quickly in real life, I thought the story could have had a better flow in order to offset the rushed nature of their relationship. The story felt choppy both because of the events coming together in a rushed fashion and the choppiness of the narrative. Both Zoe and Calvin had points of view, but they weren’t separated by chapters, so occasionally it would switch back and forth. I enjoyed both points of view, but I would have preferred more of a distinct break before switching. Some portions of the book felt choppy because every sentence began with She. She did… She went… She .. and I would have preferred run on sentences or other ways of wording so that the paragraphs didn’t seem robotic. I only noticed it every once in awhile, but it pulled me out of the book for a moment whenever I did notice it.
I would recommend September Tango if you love contemporary romance or have an interest in reading mostly true love stories and seeing how two people met and fell in love. I love hearing about how my friends and family members met and fell in love and that was my favorite part of September Tango. Fans of the author will definitely love the book!
I just finished September Tango by Scarlett Jade and Llerxt the 13th! What a sweet and wonderful story!! I love that Calvin came in and picked up the pieces for Zoe as though it was always his job to do. There was no question, he just knew she was his. This is definitely a Part 1, but it has a satisfying conclusion on it's own. I was definitley left wanting for the next in the series, though! This is a book with a man whose eyes are opened to someone he never noticed before. Once he sees her in his home town, he can't waste a minute. He's on a limited time frame and he wants to secure their relationship before he goes. He wants her to wait for him, but is it fair to ask? The woman has not had great luck and is a little wary, but she knows him, had a little crush on him in high school. She also knows he's the type of man you can put your faith in. I am sure you will love this story as much as I did.....AND anticipate the next story as much as I do. I really loved the dual POVs! Especially in the beginning when they see each other in the airport! I love that the POVs backtrack a little so you see what each one is thinking for the same sequence of events. Bottom line - This is a engaging story that you really want to keep going! I really don't think you want to miss this one!!! Read more at http://joecoolreview.com
Poor Zoe can't seem to catch a break in life. That is, until Calvin returns to their hometown. Sparks fly and he helps her overcome all of the pain she has endured. While the book was good, the story line moved at breakneck speed. It was somewhat difficult to become invested in the romance. Reading does require readers to suspend a certain amount of reality, this book required me to suspend all reality. To go from barely speaking to madly in love in a week was too much for me to buy in to.
I have to start out by saying I really really really liked Beautiful Downfall by Scarlett Jade, but I LOVED September Tango.
Let me start off with the fact that I am always impressed when you have a book written by two authors and it gels. You can’t tell where one author stops and the other takes off. It’s even more perfect when that author is a husband-wife team and you have an actual guy writing the guy’s point of view. I’m taking Scarlett and Llerxt’s word for it. It gelled that well. You couldn’t feel a change in author at any time of the book. It was awesome.
This was a perfect whirlwind romance and by whirlwind, I mean really fast. When you know, you know. I’ve never had that love at first sight thing in my life, but I’ve known others who have and they have wonderful marriages. These two are perfect together. Zoe deserved some happiness after the drama with her boyfriend and other (no spoilers) things that happened to her in the book.
I want to add that I think it’s interesting having an interracial couple write a story about an interracial couple, especially about an interracial couple in the south. I always have this hope that we’ve come a long ways in being tolerant of people, if not accepting, then things come up in the news, or I go visit family in the south. My uncle told me years ago when I asked him something about something I had overheard someone say at a store, I’m not repeating it, it wasn’t nice, but he said, baby, things are different down here then they are in Iowa. I’ve never understood not liking someone simply because of the color of their skin and I don’t get not letting people love who they love. While things regarding skin color are different the farther south you go from what I personally have witnessed, I’ve had comments said to me about being married to a Mexican here in Iowa, so we haven’t come as far as I wish we had.
Zoe and Calvin don’t deal with a lot of problems in this book that interracial couples deal with, but that’s because Calvin took a proactive approach. I really would like to see some conflict regarding that in the next book because it’s a reality of the society we live in.
All in all, beautiful book. There are some love scenes that are rather spicy, so I wouldn’t recommend this to the under 18 set or those who are faint of heart, if you are, keep a fan handy because you’re going to need it while reading.
I cannot wait for the next one in this series. I will be grabbing it the day that it is released, unless I can talk Scarlett into letting me read it before. Ha! I cannot wait to see where Calvin and Zoe’s story goes next.
Speaking of that, for the FTC, I bought this book on my own. It wasn’t given to me nor am I being compensated for this post.
September Tango is a great easy read. It deals with abandonment, betrayal and love, but it’s done with strong willed characters that deal with their issues head on, so the angst level is non-existent. This book has a little bit of everything without draining your emotions. Zoe is a tough cookie. She’s dealt a shit hand but keeps fighting, shes a perfect mix of sassy, strong, vulnerable, and sweet. I loved Calvin, he was so down to earth, he was clearly a leader, carried himself with confidence and authority, but was so tender and loving with Zoe. The combination of the two of them was fantastic as they perfectly complimented each other.
What I love about this book is that it is so detailed. Usually it drives me nuts, but as I read the book, and listened to events of Zoe and Calvin’s lives, I could see it play out in my head. There were no time lapses or gaps; it all flowed together in one non-ending story that lasts from the day they meet to the day Calvin leaves. Zoe is also a beautiful full figured woman at a size 16, and Calvin is black. This aspect of the book did not faze me in the least. Until I was just over 50% through the book I never even knew, it is such a non issue, and even after its revealed that they are a mixed race couple, its only touched on a few times. If this is something that you don’t prefer to read about, it is so easy to insert the Channing Tatum of your choice and keep reading. This is but a small detail in the book that has no weight on any of their actions or relationships. To me, this book was real life. These were situations that us living outside of our Kindle have to deal with. We deal with our loves leaving for war, we deal with cheating, we deal with abandonment, deceit, and betrayal. We deal with having to make decisions that may seem crazy to others in order to make things work.
The only thing that I didn’t like about the book had to do with the writing structure. The POV changes from Calvin to Zoe, but there was no real distinguisher between the two, they switched from paragraph to paragraph with no story brake or indication of whose POV it was. Other then that, I really liked the book, and I would suggest it to anyone that is looking for an easy read with solid real life characters and events.

Omg!! This was a great story of a girl that's life is nothing but hell but turns perfect in just days. Zoe Parker has been through so much and thinks she'll never find happiness in this podunk town of Major, Alabama. After losing her mother to cancer, losing her job, finding her boyfriend, Derek and one of her best friends having sex out in the open she doesn't know what to do anymore. At least she has her other best friend Amy and her dad. When her and her father lost her mother he does nothing but work. So needless to say she is pretty much on her own to take care of everything.
Amy coming to visit from New York is just what she needed to get her mind off of things. She gets everything prepped for her friends visit the following day. Morning came and she got ready to head to the airport in Mobile to pick Amy up. When she got there she walked past a sexy soldier that couldn't take his eyes off her like she couldn't take hers off of him. She turned to look for Amy and then turned back but the soldier was gone. She turned back as she hears her name being yelled by her best friend Amy.
Calvin Hall sees the most beautiful woman he has ever seen at the airport. He then grabs his rental car and heads home to Major Alabama. Calvin has been away from home for the last five years serving in the army. He is only on leave for two weeks from Afghanistan.
His sister has set up a welcome home party on the beach close by so needless to say he's not getting any rest yet. As he arrives he's bombarded by friends he hasn't seen in five years. But as he makes his way through the crowd he almost walks right into the fire being drawn to someone he never thought he'd see ever again.
Amy and Zoe get back to her house and drop her stuff off. They head out to a party on the beach that turns out to change lives in so many ways.
I really liked this book and give it 5 stars. I love how it has duel POVs by two authors that work great together!! The characters were funny and very likable. Calvin and Zoe are an interracial couple that have made it through so much in such a short period of time in this book but leaves you wanting more so I really hope there will be a second book!!!
A sweet and tender love story that sweeps you up into their whirlwind romance. Only, who says that a holiday romance has to end?
This is the story of a small town girl on her journey with Fate as she finally gets a chance with the love she craves and desperately deserves. A tale of a beautiful romance that’s true and real and absolutely shakes you to the core.
“I’m saying I want to protect you. I’m saying that I would give up everything for you. Right now. That is what’s important”
This is also the story of a Soldier who deals with the ugliness of war everyday. When on R&R, Fate throws beauty in his path. The beauty of love. Only, Fate doesn’t always play fair. Will their romance last?
"I want the world to know I’m ready to rock yours"
Zoe is dealt a bad hand in life. All the people in her life that were meant to love her, have only ever caused her pain and anguish. When she can no longer see a light on the horizon and life seems just too rough, Calvin walks into her life.
It’s not only the romance that makes this books special. It’s the characters that bring the book to life. Everyone should have a man like Pops in their life. Bringing humour and warmth to the story. I love Pops!
Back to Zoe, she is one of the few female book characters that you will actually like. She is a ballsy chick with a gooey centre. She picks herself up and dusts herself down each and every time.
I would recommend this book to anyone that likes an easy romance to fall into.
We loved this book and we know you will too. Its romantic, real, raw and tender all at once. Its the sheer beauty of their romance that will pull you in . . . give it a read, you wont regret it . . .
When I was asked to read an ARC of September Tango by Scarlett Jade, I was really looking forward to it because I LOVED her book "Beautiful Downfall" so much. I had pretty high expectations, but I have to say I wasn't too disappointed. This story is completely different than "Beautiful Downfall", So I tried to keep that in mind as I was reading. From the very beginning, the book captured my attention. The author has a wonderful way with words and description to hook you right in. I felt as though I was right there. I could feel the humid heat, feel Zoe's anger and despair. I could feel her and Calvin's desperate lover for each other, as well as the sexual tension.
The characters in the story, I felt, were "real". There's Zoe, who may be a little overweight and have some confidence issues, which isn't helped by her ex, Derek, who has slept with half the town, and always seemed to make her feel worse about herself. Then again, she has a feisty side and knows when to fight for herself. There's Calvin, Zoe's high school crush, home on R&R from the service for two weeks, whom she never thought she had a chance in Hell with. When they meet again, a strong connection is there, and they fall head over heels. He's leaving in two weeks, so their time is limited. Calvin and Zoe wonder how on earth they will make it when he leaves. There are other surprises and obstacles in the book, which of course I will leave for the readers to enjoy.
All in all, this was a great read. Toward the end, I almost felt like the story was kind of dragging on, possibly with some filler. However, when I realized there would probably be a sequel, I thought maybe the author was trying to lead us up to the next installment. That's why I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars. I do look forward to reading the next book to see what happens with Calvin and Zoe.
What a way to start the summer, Zoe Parker finds her boyfriend engaged in sexual activities with her best friend. How is it everyone knew that he was messing around behind her back but Zoe? She wants to forget and move on, and thankfully her new best friend is coming back into town. Calvin Hall just stepped off a plane and is on leave from the Military, for the first time in 5 years. He missed a lot, including his mother and father's funeral. What he doesn't expect is to find the most beautiful girl at the airport. He thinks about her all the way; until she appears at his welcome home party.
Zoe and Calvin have history, except Calvin is clueless as to how much Zoe wanted him in high school. The two want each other, but is it worth it to risk it since Calvin will be leaving again soon? Bombshell after bombshell rocks Zoe's world and the only one who is by her side is the one that won't be there soon enough: Calvin.
Scarlett Jade has done it again. She knows how to write the perfect stories full of love, lust, and even loss. What I really liked about this story is that you can relate to Zoe. She isn't a size 2, she doesn't think she's beautiful, and is always comparing herself to her friends. She can't believe someone would fall in love with her. Haven't we all been there once before?
Ugh and Calvin! The man most women want to find and fall in love with: man in uniform and a perfect gentlemen. You want to root for them to be together and you also want to scream at Zoe for not believing in how Calvin feels.
Besides love, we learn about the heartache that Zoe suffers from all those that she trusted. Again, you can probably relate. It just shows who you can and can't trust, and who will be there when your world falls apart. Get ready for a cliffhanger! Scarlett Jade leaves you on the edge until you pick up book 2 of this series: November Foxtrot.
I liked this book. I’m not one for Military Men and I try not to read about Military guys. I’m just a woman that needs her man every day to support me in life so when I read the last chapter in this book I felt for the woman main character. The woman main characters had been through so much hardship throughout the story and she needs someone to be with her. I am surprised she didn’t move in his Grandparents and sister while I was stationed and away from her.

Oh my what a sad wonderful journey !!!!!!! Zoe Parker a strong women who had caught her now ex boyfriend having sex with her best friend on the hood of his car in public. Neither felt bad but he kept trying to get her back. She was done 4years wasted. Her relationship with her Dad was not good since her mom passed. She lost her job. Boy!! was she also in line for some more sadness and would She survive it. Calvin Hall hadn't been home in 5 years. He was in the army and gone when his parents died.....couldn't even make it home for their funeral which ate at him. Now he was home it was time to see His grandparents, sister and say goodbye to his parents. Could He really come home. He had 15 days to see. He was her high school crush, her best friends boyfriend but now It was different or was it.. Why hadn't he notice her before, she was gorgeous. He is reminded of his ex / her best friend the girl he dated In High school really was as a awful person. He saw Zoe and knew That he need her. What he didn't know was how bad he needed her and she so needed him. Could fate really let the have what they though they never could.... Would she just have 15 days or the Forever she had dreamed about. Come join Scarlett Jade on a journey where family, friendship, love was All a lie. Where you come back to a place to see if it's truly home. When you realize that you can truly find what you seek but there isstill things working against the love you seek. Can it be strong enough To hold together this thing called .................love
Wow! How much bad crap can happen to one person in a matter of a few days? According to Zoe Parker, A LOT! Just when you think there is no way she can deal with any more bad news, Calvin sweeps her off her feet and is there to show her how she should be treated. This book had a great storyline. It was a whirlwind romance that swept them both away just over a few days. At first I was a little skeptical of the timeframe but then reminded myself that they did grow up together and Zoe has always had her eye on Calvin.
I really liked Zoe as a character. She had depth and an incredible inner strength. She’s dealt with so much rejection and heartache but she kept going and once she realized what kind of people she was surrounded by, she didn’t hesitate to drop them. I really admired that about her.
Calvin is a hot army guy so what’s not to like? But he also is really protective of those he cares about, loving, and recognizes those people that are good and those that need to be dropped to the curb.
This was a really great love story and great if you have a serious book hangover from an overly emotional book or just want a sweet love story. I really hope there is a sequel or at least a novella after this book. Excellent story and I give it a 4 out of 5!
First let me start by saying that this is the first title that I have read by Scarlett, and it will certainly not be the last! September Tango is a sweet, heart wrenching, romantic roller coaster that takes you through so many emotions in a matter of mere pages.
We meet Zoe, who is a sweet, small-town girl that was dealt one hell of a rotten hand in life. First off, her longtime boyfriend turns out to me a complete manwhore, who has slept with nearly every woman in town ... including her best friend!! Aaaand let's not forget that said best friend will screw any guy who will let her. SKANK!
Then we meet Calvin, an Army soldier who is home from Afghanistan for 2 weeks of R&R after 5 long years away from home. He recognizes Zoe, but doesn't quite remember where from. All he does know is that he wants her.
Zoe's bad luck just seems to be multiplying, with Calvin being the only bright spot in her days now, yet she knows that he will be leaving soon, and her world will be plunged back into the dark, depressing place it had become before he came along.
But Calvin has a plan ...
Go check out this book and see for yourself! It's an amazing read and one that I absolutely couldn't put down!!
Zoe has lost everyone she has ever cared about in some of the most unbearable ways; death, betrayl and sheer self-indulgence and ignorance are just some of the scenarios. The final blow to Zoe comes when she realizes her best friends and father are also among those people. You would think that would be enough bad luck to last a lifetime yet for Zoe the hits keep on coming. When she finally manages to find a little happiness will she be able to actually take it? Or will her past and recent experiences continue to make her feel unworthy. Calvin has been overseas for many years fighting the good fight to keep all American’s safe this is the first time in five years he is able to return home. What happens to him and the changes he goes through once setting foot back in America even he couldn’t anticipate. The girl he once thought he would marry turns out to be the town slut and the one woman who has now caught his attention has been through hell and back. Zoe thinks of herself as undeserving of any kind of happiness and unlovable. Yet Calvin is determined to make her his. Will he be able to change her point of view of her life and herself in the short time he has state side? Or will Zoe find that falling for Calvin is setting herself up to lose yet one more person she loves?
This is a sweet story of not only finding your true love but of healing a broken heart and overcoming the things that people will throw at you.
Zoe is a small town girl who is trying to make her life around her father constantly being gone and the town going under around her. She also has to deal with her ex-boyfriend who was having sex with someone one she considered to be her best friend.
Calvin is in the military and home on R&R. He's home mainly to see his grandparents, his sister, and visit his parents grave since he wasn't able to come home for their funeral. Never did he except to find what he found when he returned to the small town he grew up in.
Zoe and Calvin compliment each other and help each other get over the things in their life that they need to get over. They heal the broken parts of their heart and show each other what love truly is.
It's easy to get sucked into their story and start to feel for the characters. Some parts will make you laugh, a few will make you cry, but all in all you'll fall in love with Calvin and his charm and Zoe for how unique she is.
I really liked this book! It brought back a lot of memories for me about how quickly life can change for the good or bad.
Zoe lived in the small town of Major, Alabama and times were hard there. Most places were either closed or getting ready to close and jobs were hard to come by. Zoe's mom had passed away a couple years before and her dad was spending a lot of time at work...so she thought. She had recently broke up with her boyfriend because he cheated on her and was not looking to get back together with him or with anyone new. I cried several times wanting to jump in there and give a few people attitude adjustments!
Back from Afghanistan on leave for 2 weeks is Calvin Hall. She secretly loved him all through high school and Zoe meets him at a beach party. Now you'll have to get the book to see what happens!
This books was a very easy read and quite enjoyable; I laughed at the funny quips that must only be said in the South!
Thumbs up Scarlett and Llerxt!!! Looking forward to the next book you write!!!
True love. It's something that not all of us find, but whether you've found it or not, you will believe in it when reading this book. Calvin and Zoe are the epitome of true love. Even though they haven't seen each other in years, and were never really friends, their hearts come together for an amazingly strong connection; it's almost unreal how close they become in such a short time. While I read this book, I cried, laughed, and sighed repeatedly. It's a book that is worthy of a Hallmark or Lifetime Original Movie... It's an amazing love story that takes the reader on a journey along with the characters. It's well-written (with the male perspective written by an actual male) and is so fluid that you get lost in the words. There are just some books that suck you in and give you a dreamy feeling by the time you reach the end, and this book has that quality. When I finished, I had to sit in silence and revel in the beauty of the story. Amazing.
I loved...loved...loved this book. I was in tears of joy at one moment then tears of sorrow the next. Emotional roller coaster throughout the story is how I would explain it. It was hard to put this book down. The passion between Zoe and Calvin is just amazing. Calvin is one of those good guys that you should never let go. Zoe is a feisty young woman who has been through more then her share of hard times but with the right man her life could change for the better. A true passionate romance.
Zoe Parker has been dealt a horrible hand in life. He boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend, her mother passed away and her father is never around. Then to top it off her family home is in foreclosure.
Staff Sergeant Calvin Hall is home for some R&R when he meets the love of his life. Quickly Calvin and Zoe fall passionately in love and that's a good thing because time isn't on their side. Calvin has to report back to base sooner then he thought.
Zoe and Calvin haven’t seen each other in five years; he is back in town on leave for two weeks… They are both broken and have issues but will the two weeks that Calvin is in town for as well as him being her best friend’s ex stop “fate” from happening… Thru time love will find a way to make to it work… Ever hear the saying “absence make the heart grow fonder” … This book was a great one to read and one I really enjoyed reading… One thing after another bad thing kept happening to Zoe … I kept asking myself will it end would something positive happen, please… Overall I would rate this book a solid 4.5 read. I received the book from the author for an honest review, thank you…
(PS. FYI: (This not about the book the author herself) I just saw this past week that the author takes her royalties, which isn't much and donates them to local food bank in her area... To me that earns a Kudo in my book for helping others.)
Ok this is a hard one for me to rate. On the one hand it did keep me reading and has had me thinking of it since I finished. But (and this is a big but) I just didn't believe in it. I know books are allowed to be full of fantasy and dreams, and take us to places we can only imagine. But this just didn't do it for me. Everything happened so quick without enough of the spark being played out whereas some parts were detailed far too much for such a small scene. The story is good, and has the potential to be a brilliant book but how it is right now, it just seemed lacking in something. The characters were hard to imagine in my head and even though I know Zoe has long dark hair, dark eyes and long legs but that's pretty much all I got. I wasn't aware they were an interracial couple until quite far on in the book which to me should have been made clear very early on so I can build the characters up in my imagination. Also, her constant need for eating was really annoying!
This is a sweet love story that you will get swept away in.
Zoe is from a small town and the people who are suppose to love and support her have done nothing but cause her pain and heartache. When she feels she can no longer deal with it all, she runs into Calvin, which she hasn't seen in five years.
Calvin is a soldier home on leave from Afghanistan dealing with his own demons from the past. He is a sweet southern boy with a lot of southern charm. He has always liked Zoe, but they have always been dating other people.
They embark on a whirlwind romance, but they also have many obstacles in their way trying take away their happiness. They lean on and support one another and discover their love is true love. Will there romance last?
I really enjoyed reading this book. The author did a wonderful job developing the characters and making you feel the characters emotions. I would recommend this book for everyone to read.
LOVE! Basically all I wanted to say but since Scarlett posted on Facebook that she likes reviews I'll say more.
Hmm.. I think it could have been a little less fast paced but since Calvin was only home 15 days and then called back early..TWICE.. I think that tempo worked out perfectly fine. It would have been nice if there wasn't such a cliff hanger or at the very least an epilogue but that leaves it open for a sequel and I'm really hoping for one.
I'd love to know what happens when he's away, how she deals since everyone else left her, how they're life continues, if he makes it home, though I don't think Scarlett is mean enough to kill off Zoe's only dependable person and love of her life.
All in all, definitely worth the read and I'm so happy I got it when it was free! :)
September Tango is a sweet love story about a summer romance lasting into fall. The characters were well written and there were some funny moments that made me giggle out loud as well as a few sad moments that made me tear up. Poor Zoe can't seem to catch a break until she meets Calvin but I think that that's where the book started to lose it's appeal for me. Their instant love sort of turned me off. Over the course of a week or less, not only did they meet and fall in love but also end up getting married. (The wedding was super sweet!) For me I think it moved too quickly. One thing I did like about the book though was Calvin's family. His grandparents and his sister, Layla, were awesome characters. I loved the way they, and everyone else in the town, rallied to help out the love struck couple.
I read September Tango by Scarlett Jade this book is a quick read and flows well. You meet Zoe his is having a hard time in life her mom died, lost her job, and her boyfriend slept with her best friend. Then she goes to a welcome home party for Calvin the one guy she has always loved but never could have. This time Calvin notices her right away and wonders why he never bothered before, but time is not on Calvin’s side as he is going to have to ship out again soon. As he is trying to get to know Zoe better she just keeps having more stuff dropped on her and his leave time is moved up. He has to prove to her that he is serious about wanting her forever against all the odds. I gave this book 4 stars just because I felt like some of the details were rushed and things happened very quickly but it is a good book to read.
September Tango had everything! It made me tear up, it made my stomach turn, it made me smile and laugh. And boy oh boy did it make me sweat! Zoe had a really hard life, and I wish I could just give her a hug and say 'you're good enough'. But don't think she's a weak character, she stands strong when she needs to. One of my favorite Heroine characters that I have read in a long time!
Calvin was swoonworthy...I don't want to give anything away, but some of the things this guy said? Sigh. I love him. So so much. It was a beautiful summer romance, and I know it will stay with me for a very, very long time!
Book two please? Mmk, thanks!
FIVE STARS! Amazing job to a husband and wife dual of writers! Can't wait for more of their work!
