While trying to heal her broken heart, journalist Rosie Kale moves into her Grandma's beach-side guest house and takes a job at the hot new Bundt Baby Bakery. But when she and her boss cater a ritzy bridal shower, murder is on the dessert menu and the Bundt cake is blamed.
Rosie tries to find the real killer before she becomes the next victim. But her senior sleuth 'helpers,' Nana and Birdie, are more interested in getting her married off than in the murder case. Unfortunately their prime romantic prospect--handsome real estate mogul Casey Baron--is also her prime murder suspect.
Rosie works for the Bundt Baby Bakery after returning home after a breakup. During a fancy bridal shower, a poisoned cake leads to death and her boss being accused of murder.
It is light and humorous and a quick read. My difficulty was there were only a couple suspects and it was not very puzzling but the coziness was still a pleasant read
This was a good quick read. Very lighthearted, and the ending was a bit different, but really good. A new series that I think I will enjoy as a break from some of the more intense things I like to read.
I'm sorry, but this one just feels thrown together. At least the Senior Snoops books started like a proper detective series, and seemed to have a bit of research. This one reads like a mediocre TV show - basically four sets and five major characters, all cardboard, and a bunch of trite circumstances. Plus, the murder mystery with a bakery setting has already been done a bunch of times. Compound that with a pretty obvious mystery, and it's not a very good read. I'm just glad the author didn't Christie the book and make the investigating officer or the narrator the murderer.
I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. Just when I thought I new who the killer was Leigh throws in a twist. I hope there will be more books by Leigh in the future.
A fun, easy read but could use an editor or a page by page walk through for errors. Ie: wrong name used, words missing or incomplete. Already have book 2 downloaded and ready to read!
Rosie dream job at the Bundt Bakery, turned up a murder to be solved. Owners Babette and Doug, at odds he tells her property being sold and she says no. She is the suspect of poisoning his mistress. A mystery, romance and one likes the characters, and good enjoyment to read.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
I enjoyed the story line. Interesting romantic aspects between Rosie & Casey (real estate developer who is rumored to be a menace to the town). Series has definite potential. However, the editing issues caused me to lower my star 'rating'. Typos, character names switched in spots, grammatical problems. When the characters were misrepresented, it caused slight confusion. Overall - a good read.
When Rosie takes a dream job working in a bakery that specializes in Bundt cakes, she never thought she'd get mixed up in murder. This is an easy breezy story that keeps a reader's attention. There is a touch of romance, danger, and of course murder. Who done it? Twists and turns keep the reader guessing until the end. I loved it, you will, too.
This book was actually surprisingly fun to read. And the ending was very satisfying and quite a shock--I had pegged one of the other characters as the killer! My only real complaint is that it was so short. I feel the author could've written a lot more and fleshed out more of the plot and the characters.
I have found another great other that kept me interested in the book the complete in the characters were interesting I could not put the book down until the end just as he think figured out who's whodunit you are wrong . This is a must read
Light and fluffy like frosting, this book combines cozy mystery, baked goods, romance, and a cat named Cupcake. It was a fast, entertaining read with likable, although not completely developed, characters. Rosie is nosy and very single minded, which, of course, poses danger for her.
Lots of twists and turns. Good characters, creating yummy desserts (virtual eating and not gaining a pound....love it). Several typos but not too distracting. Will check out the next in Rosie Kales cozy mystery.
I enjoyed this story. The characters were believable and fun. “Nana” and “Birdie” were particularly fun. There were enough twists and turns in the plot to keep you wondering “who dunnit.” At the same time the story was easy to follow. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys cozy mysteries.
Another cozy mystery. This one kept me guessing until the end. There sure is a lot of cupcakes and desserts mentioned in these books! LOL I just can't get enough!
