Private Investigator Leah Ryan is on a much needed vacation. A week in Bass Bay, Maine. Nothing but sun, sand and relaxation. No missing people. No murder. No stress.
But an hour into her vacation, Leah almost swims into a dead girl. Shark bites on the victim indicate a horrific shark attack, but closer inspection of the remains suggest that sharks aren't the only predators in Bass Bay.
As the bodies of more young women wash up on the beach, Leah is about to find out that murder doesn't take a vacation.
Red Surf is the 4rth in the Leah Ryan thriller series, and mixes humor with nail biting suspense.
Tracy Sharp grew up in a small mining town in Northern Ontario, Canada, where there wasn't much for her to do except dress warmly and write spooky stories to scare herself silly.
No hned prvy den v mori narazi na zralokmi ohlodanu mrtvolu dievcata.
I listened to this book so I really felt that I was with the character which made it much more riveting and exciting. I loved the relationship between Leah and Jackson. It was a book that you really weren't sure who did the crime until the very end. I also learned a lot about sharks. Great writing! Now I want to go back and read book 1-3 in this series.
Not a dull moment within this book. What I really enjoyed was the self-knowledge of the characters. Even the crazies know they're crazy. The only low point is that Leah only kicks one guy in the nuts.
Never have liked swimming in the ocean so thank you for reminding me why. This was a great mystery, I couldn't figure who was the bad person til the very end. Wow, some ending. Keep writing about Leah and Jackson.

The author created a tense and fast paced story which I could not put down! Likeable and realistic characters, a great scenario, and a plot development that nearly had me biting my nails. Add to that a good and fluent narration style and obviously thorough research in the behaviour of sharks, and you have one hell of a story! This is the fourth book in a series about the two private investigators Leah and Jackson, and I am certain I will get the ones before and any after this one!!
At first it’s typical… a private detective treats herself to a vacation & you just know she’s going to be sucked into trouble – whether she joins the investigating team in an official or unofficial capacity…. The action and drama quickly unfold though as several men (some creepy) are interested in her and she just keeps finding bodies. A trouble magnet, like your typical mystery genre-PI, however a different take than many of the typical offerings of the genre. I found most of the information/ speculation about sharks to be accurate as well and have to respect the various perspectives on them that are provided here.
It was a great story, good read. I would just recommend that the author or her editor learn some basic grammar such as the meaning of there vs their and they’re. In a 200+ page novel, things are going to get missed but this was a recurring mistake. My only complaint – will totally read more of her work.
