Robert Muchamore was born in Islington, London in 1972. He still lives there, and worked as a private investigator up until 2005 and the critically-accepted release of Maximum Security.
The Hunger Games phenomenon is part of the huge YA / Children's book explosion that has grown, thanks to the British Rat pack of YA authors, Anthony Horowitz, Robert Muchamore, Mark A. Cooper and Charlie Higson. We owe much of the hunger games sucess to authors such as Robert.
Robert was inspired to create the CHERUB series by his nephew after he complained about the lack of anything for them to read. CHERUB: The Recruit was Robert's first book and won the Red House Children's Book Award 2005 in the Older Readers Category.
Following the last book in the CHERUB series, it was revealed that a trilogy would be released starting from August 2011 that will focus on a new set of CHERUB agents centred upon Ryan Sharma and also involve an sixteen year old Lauren Adams. The first book will be called People's Republic.
Check out the Hendersons Boys series. Henderson's Boys is a series of young adult spy novels written by English author Robert Muchamore. The series follows Charles Henderson, the creator of the fictitious CHERUB organisation. CHERUB is currently being made into a TV series.
Black Friday Black Friday is one of 18 cherub stories written by Robert Muchamore. The main characters are Ryan Sharma, the agent. Amy Collins, the supervisor. Kazakov, the mission controller, Leonid Aramov who is the main antagonist. And lots of side characters that aren’t very important. The story follow a boy called Ryan Sharma who is a Cherub agent. Cherub is a secret organisation in the UK where they use children as spies as you would never expect a child to be a skilled and trained agent about to help take down a terrorist organisation. Ryan Sharma has been on a mission trying to take down a big clan the Aramov clan which smuggles illegal weapons and drugs around the world. The genre is young adult spy fiction. This book shows sacrifice and commitment as well as loyalty as a training instructor dies to save the mission (not a big spoiler). And commitment as Ryan goes through a lot in the mission and experiences a lot of death and trauma however he stays committed and carry’s on with the mission. This is my favourite series and I enjoy reading it however sometimes when there are mission briefings it’s not very exciting and you don’t properly read it as it can be boring but the story is always action packed and you won’t want to put the book down. I would recommend this book to 12 year olds up to 18 years as its very action packed and a wide vocabulary that lots of kids wouldn’t understand. Overall I would give this book a 5/5.
I have read all of the Cherub books over the last 3 or 4 years, and I've grown so attached to the characters and overall plot that I can't help but read each new book, even though I feel like I've "moved on" reading-wise. This is the 15th Cherub book, and to be honest, it is getting long and repetitive. I am getting bored of the missions, which have been about the same thing for the last 3 books, but I keep on reading for the reason I exposed earlier. I actually skipped quite a few pages at the end, eager to be done, but I don't regret reading this book. However the book had many good elements : the variety of characters (we even see Kyle for about 3 lines and a half which made me very happy), and the variety of locations and actions.
If you are still quite young (under 15/16) or are a bit older but getting into reading, I'd highly recommend this serie.
I don't have much more to say - I just finished the book and don't feel like reviewing it for long as it was a quick, holiday read.
Although they're spies, the CHERUB series features the most realistic and believable kids and teens, compared to most YA fiction. Ryan could do so much better than Natalka, though.
3.7/5 🫎 Good book. TOOK ME A WHOLE MONTH TO READ 🙃 i have a the worst reading block in ages. i liked the book, but i didn't enjoy it as much because i took so long to read it. . . bye
1. I decided to read this book because it is the third in the series and I have read the other two. I find Robert Muchamore an interesting author and like the style he writes in so I decided to read his latest addition to the CHERUB series.
2. A enjoyed the character Ryan because he possesses many attributes which are thrilling and intriguing for example he is brave and courageous. this builds lots of suspense and provide thrill during action scenes. One thing that intrigues me about are his relationships with his brother who are younger than him.
3. A quote I found interesting was "Ryan is about to board a plane, knowing that the next 24 hours will change everything. his mission is to stop the biggest terrorist attack America's ever seen." For me, this quote really sets the tone for the whole book, how it will be action packed, exciting, and filled with suspense.
4. This book made me think deeply about how terrorism is affecting the world today and how modern terrorism works. This book identifies the simplicity of importing mass quantities of dangerous explosives into a heavily populated country like America and cause complete chaos.
The book is full of action which makes it thrilling to read. There is also some romance involved in the characters which make it even more interesting. I recommend this book to teenagers as it shows the character of rebelling teenagers and how parents don't want their children to be like.
While reading this book it made me wish that I could be as brave or as willing to do anything like Ryan in the book. Ryan is a teenager who is fighting people that have two times the age experience as him. He still will fight five people that are twice his age to stop a explosion. He is taking down big names in the terrorist industry with the help of a couple other people. In real life I would never do anything like that. One I wouldn’t be trained enough but that wouldn’t matter because even if I had a ton of intel, knew a safe way to execute a plan i couldn’t have enough courage to go with it.
Reading the book Cherub Black Friday I realized that in this world everything isn’t perfect, that there is more to life than what I see. There are wars going on in life that I don’t even know about. For example in the book multiple terrorist attacks are happening where people on both sides of the fight are dying. In the book one of the main characters Ryan has to stop a shipment of missiles going to a gang that will use these to blow up a mall. In doing this sacrifices are made that were needed to stop the cause. This reminded me that in real life there are smaller wars going on that I don’t even know about. That people are dying everyday because of war.
This book made me wonder, what would happen if the government would approve and allow teenagers to go out into the field as spies. This raises the question would this help with wars and secret organizations? In my opinion I think it would. People wouldn’t suspect kids to be agents. They would be able to sneak around and be faster. If there were ever kids as spies then things would have the chance of getting done quicker. If this ever happened there is the chance that teenagers could die in combat which would end in devastation.
While reading Cherub Black Friday it made me see that it doesn’t take that much to help out. I know that it is a fiction book, which means anything can be possible but that doesn’t mean teenagers can’t help out in the real world like they do in this book. Even if it is helping out the environment or helping other people will make differences. In Cherub kids are taking down people with serious power and in real life if the best thing a teenager can do to help the world is pick up trash then do it. It doesn’t matter the age to make a difference.
This book made me believe that anything can be possible even if the odds are not in your favor. For example in the book Ryan and the rest of the Cherub agents in all of their missions you would think that the odds are never in their favor but you are wrong. In this book Ryan and two or three other agents are trying to stop a big terrorist group from blowing up malls during black Friday to kill millions of people but this group of cherub agents manage to take them down even though the terrorist group probably has one hundred more people. In real life people are defying odds everyday and this has made me believe that I could defy the odds.
This book made me feel that worried. This is because kids aren’t really supposed to be in combat. Think of things from the point of view from their parents. Their parents would be worried sick about them every time they go into a mission. You never know what could happen. Fifteen year old teenagers could die from trying to save the world. In the book most of the Cherub agents have no parents and usually have had a bad life before Cherub. Think about what if these kids had parents. What would they think, they would be saying to themselves everyday why did I let them do this. They would be worried. That is how this book makes you feel when teenagers go into missions.
While reading Cherub Black Friday it made me hope that in the future there will be big changes being made to stop terrorist even if it means using kids. The kids would need training and practices but that would help in the long run. In Cherub kids that go on missions only take about a month or maybe two, if in present day the military was doing things in that time would be insane. The world would be much better. This relates to the present day because currently there are people trying to take down big organizations that could use the help of kids. Not to be in combat with them because that is against the law but to do things like supplying food and water is things kids can do by donating. I would definitely recommend reading this book if you like action. This book is an action packed book that will keep you reading.
Black Friday from the cherub 2 series is a great read if you liked the previous titles. The plot continues with the Agent Ryan storyline on his mission in the Kremlin. In the early part of the book, Agent Kazakov dies just before the terrorist Black Friday attacks commence. Later in the book, evil mastermind Leonid Aramov gets hunted down and killed my his ex wife Tamara. This book is great if you enjoyed the first Cherub series as Agent James from that series makes a feature as an adult agent in this book.

We saw the end of a trilogy that was intense from the beginning to the end. In addition a visit from some true favorites in Series 1. CHERUB has a huge fan in myself and this series leaves me speechless. I have been a fan since The Recruit, loved James, but now we enter the life of Ryan... and can't wait for more of him and the new agents on campus.
-And James finally got to get it on with Amy Collins. (Always hoped he would get a chance with that woman since she taught him how to swim when he was 12, it's like banging your school teacher crush... WINNING!)
this book is an adventure action book and is part of the cherub series. i liked this book as it had lots of action and has a hero (s) that help infiltrate the Amarov clan. They also find out that there are many trucks filled with explosives that are going to bomb big cities on black Friday. The story is very exciting and makes you want to read more. the ending is very sad as one of the main character die. i would reccomend this to students age 12 onwards

1. I decide to read this book because of two reasons. I read this book because I had previously read many books by this author and I really enjoy his style of writing. Lastly this book is the third of a trilogy, where I have read the first two before hand and was drawn-in with the Scenario.
2. I was intrigued with the character Ryan in Black Friday. Mainly because he was the main character in the book and was one of the only characters who was described thoroughly throughout the series, but secondly I could relate myself well with him as he is my age and we share some attributes.
3. My favourite quote in this story is the quote; "Ryan is about to board a plane, knowing that the next 24 hours will change everything. his mission is to stop the biggest terrorist attack America's ever seen." I find this quote really emphasises the danger that Ryan is going to face and how important this mission is. The quote makes the reader more alarmed and this quote for sure makes you want to read on.
4. After reading 'Black Friday' I learnt and got a slight taste of the darker outside world and how criminals and terrorists see it. I read the thoughts of some fictional criminal master minds, where if their plans ever succeed the world would look much different tomorrow. Thankfully though, this book is fictional and hopefully incidents like this won't happen again although I can't guaranty that....
I am a big fan of the CHERUB novels and was unsure I would like this new series but it has been quite pleasurable and I am really impressed. The new series "Amarov" introduced a lot of new characters while also bringing old favorites of mine back into the story. The plot of this book always kept me on the edge of my seat because the idea of terrorist attacks is a frightening possibility. The book to me was well rounded, with it's fair share of action and also showing what life was like for kids in this CHERUB organization. Overall this book was a big hit with me and has even inspired me to re-read the series, of which I'm currently back on book four, "The Killing"!
I think I'll always have a soft spot for CHERUB. I started reading Robert's books when I was 11. I'm 19 now and even though they're not on my priority tbr, I fly through them every time I pick a new one up. This is my favourite of the Aramov series so far. It's not that I don't like the new characters, but after 12 books of James & company, I can't say goodbye to them (even though James is a complete asshole but a total babe too). Since the old characters all came back on this book, I obviously had to make it my favourite. I can't wait to see more of Staff James because, let's face it, he hasn't grown all that much. We'll probably find him pranking the agents again soon.
Loved seeing James come back in this one! The book had a perfect balance of campus and mission life, and there are no slow parts-so you'll have a hard time putting this one down, as all our favorite characters come back in this thrilling continuance of the CHERUB adventures.

I love this book. It captured me within the first chapter, the only thing that annoys me is that Ryan thinks he's in love. That's not a bad thing I just want him and fu ning to get together!!
A somewhat anti-climatic end to the CHERUB Aramov series. I've noticed that with this one and with Shadow Wave, that Muchamore isn't great at writing exciting, epic conclusions to his series. He doesn't go out on a blast but instead fizzles out, with all the plot threads being wrapped up only not with much excitement.
It was nice to see James back, even if Muchamore never really decided how he wanted to use his character. Is he an agent? Is he a training instructor? Is he suddenly a stunt driver? James never really sits still enough for us to understand what is going on with him. I hope the final two books in the series highlight James more because he is a character who is yet to have a decent ending.
The reintroduction of James meant that heroes Ryan and Ning were sidelined. Was Ning even in this book? I think she was in a scene at the beginning. They were supposed to be the new generation of CHERUB agents that we would read about, but by book three its James again and a side character called Andre who, for some reason, is the focus for about half the book.
The climax of the book is the destruction of a bunch of missiles we only found out about a few pages before. Kazakof's death was a genius idea but was written with no real urgency. I really don't mean to tear this book to pieces, I did like it. I'm just drawn to it's [many] failings is all.
Definitely by far my favorite series I've read. Lots of action throughout, the characters share emotions, you can feel them. Author does a great job throughout. Scenes of adrenaline that make you not want to put the book down. What I also really like is that you can be part of the book. As they investigate you get to think your own outcomes. The main character of this book Ryan Sharma is on his second mission. Keep in fact that all the spies in this book are no older then 18. No burglar or criminal would suspect a child or teen to work for the government. Ryan mission is to find the people behind terrorists attack on malls. All around action happens through the whole series.
In this book Ryan is an agent working cherub who tries to infiltrate a terrorist group called IDOJ however in the process of stopping a major attack cherub mission controller Kazakov gets shot and dies in an explosion afterwards. A short time later, word breaks out that master criminal Leonid Aramov has been communicating to someone in the Aramov clan that is controlled by American Intelligence. Seeing as it wouldn’t be too suspicious Ryan is sent back to Kyrgyzstan to find out who leonid is communicating to and to see his girlfriend Natalka as he has wanted to for ages.

I noticed that the book had a lot of positive reviews and it did not disappoint. All the action made it exciting to read, leaving no part uninteresting. It is also realistic and includes a lot of dangerous and suspenseful scenes, making it all the more interesting. The author really knows what he's talking about making it believable for the readers, as if they are actually inside the story. There were a lot of admirable and impressive characters, making the story one that you'll love.
So I know this is the third book in the second series of Cherub, but it was the first one I read and I'll say that this reboot was an amazing idea. Introducing new characters and having some old faces show up here and there was great. And getting to see James Adams as a young adult has been very entertaining. With all of the action and thrills from the original series, these books are a must have.
I loved reading this book because it was action packed, satisfying to read and had an exciting ending. This book is an action and crime genre. The book is about agent kids infiltrating big crime organisations with deadly force. This book is not suitable for younger readers #as said on book.
Great to see James in this second series, back as driving instructor. Unnecessary sex scene between him and another character, it is like Muchamore is trying to prove that this is for older readers by putting in this scene and other references to female body parts. Let it go and focus on the action. This book did have a great storyline and continued with Ryan and Ning on their missions.
I loved the CHERUB series all throughout my teens, so enjoyed picking another one up for this prompt. While it didn’t quite have the same impact it may have when I was 15, it was a nice easy read and definitely reminded me of why I loved the series. An interesting plot line with the perfect balance between being realistic and wildly unrealistic, with just the right amount of teen drama added in.
This book was exciting, thrilling and emotional, a good book for anyone to read. A story about a smuggling business that is upturned and the downfall that happens after. The story of an anti-terrorist sting gone wrong. The book of twists and turns. The intro to the climax, I loved it all. I would totally recomend this book to teens who love thrilling adventures.

I think this has been my favorite book in the second CHERUB series so far! I hit a bit of a lull in the middle for a little while, but then things started to pick up again. We get to see some of James again which was so nostalgic and great!
This is a good ending to a three year mission but Ryan just still doesn’t interest me. The scale of the ending is massive and definite feels like the most important mission I’ve heard of in cherub though which is very very cool.
