Love with Every Beat

Rate this book
ALFIE BLACK has everything he needs to pass scrutiny as a rock star. He’s a drop dead gorgeous specimen of a man. Rough around the edges and still flawless to look at. Alfie is a jaw dropping, panty melting, tattooed bad boy. Add tall and athletically toned with a fabulous face, eyes and smile, and it’s easy to see he’d be going places. Ticking most of the boxes required as the lead singer in a band, the last part of the equation many not have mattered much. However, Alfie is an incredibly talented singer and musician.

Women want Alfie. Men want to be Alfie.

So, gifted Alfie is given opportunities to progress both as an artiste, with his band Crakt Soundzz, but also to share his passion and pass his knowledge on to others at music college. Alfie’s journey in life should be going in one direction, but his sole focus is on taking care of his responsibilities.

Circumstances in the background dictate what he needs. And what he is willing to accept. This is something he isn’t willing to compromise on. Focused and determined, the last thing Alfie needs is a distraction. What Alfie wants and what is happening in his life are poles apart, but he is determined to keep going no matter what. For now, he thinks it’s enough. That is, until he meets Lily, the English girl who arrives at college to study music in Miami.

Lily is Alfie’s equal in many ways, musically gifted, stunning and in a different league to any girl Alfie has ever known. She is focused and driven. Single minded about her one passion in life. Music. The only thing Lily has ever wanted in life is to play and to play well.

When Lily’s journey crosses Alfie’s life path, what ensues for the both of them is a complex ride of emotions and feelings. Neither of them, despite all of their combined attributes are equipped to deal with. Alfie is emotionally locked down, both from past experiences and his current situation.

Lily is sexually naive and inexperienced. When their world’s collide there are far reaching consequences for the both of them, which neither expected. How can Alfie and Lily be together?
Alfie shares his thoughts, feelings and emotional conflict in his story. (Lily's Story The Everything Trilogy)

Wow. Brilliant read. Loved it.

This is Alfie's story told through his point of view. Sometimes the re-telling of a story from another characters point of view doesn't work for me but on this occasion the author nailed it.

This book is a really great rollercoster of a story. It's gonna pull on all your emotions. I just love Alfie and Lily. The author did a great job of portraying Alfie's feelings for Lily.

Music is dominant throughout this story which I loved. If you love this book then I suggest you go and read Lily's story in The Everything Trilogy.
Highly recommend this book.

I was provided an Arc of this book for an honest review.

Well wow where do I begin?

They say there are always two sides to any tale.
They say there are always two versions of events.
They say don't close the book until you have read both stories.
She has had her say, this is his turn.....

This story is amazing! This book is the telling of a story through the eyes of the male lead -Alfie Black.
I have previously read the story from the point of view of the female lead - Lily, in the books
Enough isn't Everything, Everything She Needs and Everything I Want (The Everything Trilogy) Three books but one brilliant story of love, fame and music.
I absolutely love the Everything trilogy so when I heard the author was considering flipping the coin and delving into the story from the opposite side, to live it all through Alfie's mind I literally jumped for joy!

I began to anticipate this book very eagerly as I had not realised just how many questions I actually had in my head about the story until I thought about it from another perspective other than the way I had originally read it through the eyes of Lily.
For example how would Alfie have felt in that situation ? What was going through his head when this was experienced? What was Alfie thinking here?
This book brought me closure on the Alfie and Lily story. The questions that I hadn't even realised I had until this book was announced have very much found their answers after reading this side of the story.

The thing that sets this story apart from other books I've read is that this is not solely centred around the main couple, the author draws in so many various relationships between characters it gives the story depth and a streak of reality. Which is very refreshing to see this being explored by an author, the fact that other relationships with friends and colleagues can have an effect on a couples romantic relationship and shows many individuals can shape our lives indirectly.

When I began reading this book I expected to feel a touch of déjà vu in places having already read the story in the trilogy from Lily's view but this was not the case at all, in fact this was like reading about Alfie and Lily for the very first time!
Totally an awesome bonus for it to feel like a first time read and I really must applaud author KL Shandwick for managing to achieve this. This for me was not just the Everything trilogy reworded it was a beautiful and fascinating story in its own right.
The descriptions of scenes were new and fresh and brilliantly detailed through Alfie's perspective that it made me love his character that little bit more than I already did.

This book has the fantastic way of making you feel a range of emotions and carries you on the journey of Alfie's life with him. I felt frustration, empathy, passion, desire, sadness, joy and on a few occasions I actually burst out laughing!

The story is a blend of love, fame and music with some self exploration and emotional growth added into the mix.
This has so much depth to the story and emotional feeling, that in my opinion I could definitely envisage it on the big screen. I would love to see a movie adaptation of this and already have ideas of who I would love to see in the lead roles :)

To conclude this book is a total 5* read that I will definitely add to my go back too list to re-read time and again.
Bravo Author KL Shandwick you out did yourself thank you for bringing us this story.

This story is Alfie's point of view. It is great reading a book from the main male character. It seems like it is always the female point of view . So this was a refreshing change of pace. The story revolves around Alfie and Lily.
Alfie has it all the looks and the talent to take him places in the music world. He is working hard with his band, going to music school, Every woman wants to be with him and every man wants to become him. He is a very strong willed guy, who has a single mind on music. Enters Lily girl from England, who has come to Miami to study music. Lily is driven with music just like Alfie. There is one thing in her life that she has wanted to do is play and play well

When they come together there are sparks but there are also problems in both their pasts and when they collide there are far reaching effects for everyone .

the author does a very good job on writing from Alfie's point of view. She takes us through all the emotions and questions that one man has. She also doesn't set the whole story around the two mani characters. There author brings in various relationships around the characters . Which to me adds to the whole concept . I have read books where it is just based on the main couple. The other characters are just window dressing , Not having much to do. But not with KL 's books all the characters are a part of the story . The relationships make the book seem more real and adds to the sexual chemistry to the couple also. Love the way that music is an big part of this book, there are also some very hot smoking scenes and I loved them all.

This is book is a blend of love, romance, music and self exploration. That will take you on a very emotional rollercoaster ride. It is full of angst, raw emotion and love . Which will make you laugh, cry and actually scream at your kindle. You will fall in love with both Lily and Alfie . You want to hug Alfie well ok you will want to throw Alfie on the bed and have your way with him but ok I digress. This is a long book but once you get started you wont want to put it down . So get comfy, grab you favorite spot and your favorite snack. Then settle down to read. Trust me you will have a book hang over after you have finished the book. Great read anytime

I was provided with an ARC for an honest Review.

I LOVED this book, what a truly amazing read. Alfie Black is right up there in my top 5 favorite book boyfriends. I fell in love with his character in The Everything Trilogy, but to read his book, from his POV, in his words has only reignited that fire for me. The Everything Trilogy is from Lily's POV, and is 3 books. Love with every beat is a Stand alone and you can read it without reading the trilogy, but i would say reading both sides of every story is a definite plus from me!!!

To read why Alfie said what he said, or acted the way he did all made sense even more. The book is full or angst, love, raw emotion and the chemistry between both Alfie and Lily is beautifully described, it oozes through each word, and page as you read on. The feelings Alfie has for Lily he can't hide, he has a secret and this secret is part of the reason he fights against his feeling for Lily.

Excerpt: ........the sex-drugged look of lust in her sensually hooded eyes mesmerized me. Not a spoken word passed between us. We didn't need any. We were letting our body chemistry do all the work.

A lot of books I've read put the main emphasis on the main characters but K.L. introduces some amazing friends on both sides, and they will have you Laughing out loud a lot!!
The music throughout this book was a BIG bonus for me, and it was so refreshing to relate to a song while reading a certain part in the book. And the love of music for both Lily and Alfie is something they both share.

I have a feeling this is only the beginning of K.L's writing journey, she has a a lot more to deliver to us. And I for one will be one clicking

Love With Every Beat is Alfie's pov from all three books in The Everything Trilogy. The Everything Trilogy is one of my favorite series I have read this year and getting Alfie's side of the story just made me love it more.

I won't go in details with this review because if you have read The Everything Trilogy you know the gist of this story, but being in Alfie's head gives you a true understanding about why he acted the way he did and why he is was hot one minute and cold the next toward Lily. To be honest I thought Alfie was a little too cocky and kind of an asshole in the trilogy, not the entire trilogy but a good part of it, but after reading this I was quick to change my mind and when you read you will find out why. I fell in love with Alfie hard in this book.

K.L. Shandwick did an amazing job writing Alfie's pov. Most male povs we get are just one book, she wrote it for all three and I loved every minute of it. It doesn't go over every single moment throughout the trilogy which I think is great, because the story doesn't feel too redundant and you get the important parts. It is long since it goes over three books, but that didn't stop me from devouring this book, I seriously started reading one night and had to force myself to put it down just to get a few hours of sleep only to wake up and finish the book. Highly recommend this series, go one-click you won't be disappointed!.

Love with Every Beat is Alfie's POV in the Everything Trilogy which was Lily's POV. Unlike most books where the male prospective duplicates a great bit of the story, Alfie's POV is easily book four to the series. Since I have read the trilogy (more than once by the way), I went into the book afraid I would be rereading what I have already read before but instead I got a new story. A new outlook on a story that was already vividly in my mind. I was like seeing a whole new look on who Alfie is versus my impression of him from the other books. The old saying "don't judge me until you walk in my shoes" is the best way to sum up this book.

While Love With Every Beat can be read as a stand alone, I still think reading the Everything Trilogy is the best place to start. You will have a better understanding of the other key players in the story line. You don't get the full picture quite as much in this book as you do in the others to all the other people that are involved in Alfie and Lily's lives.

I was provided an arc of this for an honest review and I loved it!! I absolutely loved The Everything Trilogy, loved Alfie and Lily and really enjoyed reading it from Alfie's pov.
There is the worry that a book of the same story told from the other pov may just repeat itself but this really is not the case with this! There are so many parts in this book that answers a lot of questions about Alfie's behaviour and mood towards Lily in certain parts that we never really knew about from Lily's pov.
We learn why he does what he does, the reasons behind some of his actions but throughout the book it really shined through how much he cares for Lily and how he had to fight a lot within himself to try to stay away from her when he thought it was for the best.
The scenes are HOT! KL really knows how to write these scenes well! lol I love the way music is tied into the book constantly, not just them playing but the songs mentioned too, Maroon 5 being one of the main ones!
Loved this book and I can't wait to see what KL gives us next!!

"Please, oh God. Please Alfie... more."
.....

"Oh. My. God. Fucking. Amazing," I whispered.

^^^^ THAT... is how I feel after reading one of K.L.Shandwick's stories... The characters, dialogues, scene setting, descriptions... She weaves tales that will keep you on the edge of your seat, & "Love With Every Beat" is no exception! Borrowing from "SEXPERT" Alfie Black himself...

"Excitement. Need. Desire. Want. Ache. Possession..."

All spring to mind after immersing myself in Alfie's story.

I was excited, to read Alfie's POV... & if I'm honest, intrigued! Would K.L.Shandwick be able to pull off writing a book entirely from the male perspective?... Put it this way... I couldn't put it down! You know when you see someone walking around with their nose in a book, fumbling to dip chips into salsa & missing their mouths completely... Pouring out a drink & having half of it end up outside of the cup... Sitting in bed till 3am... Yep!... Nailed it, is all I can say!

"Please keep going... Don't stop, please,"...

Be warned, this book will have you involuntarily yelling expletives at your reading device! & that to me is bloody amazing! I want to be so caught up in a story that I suddenly say "Noooo! stop being a fucking asshole!" & then wanting to hug them the next minute! Because, with Alfie, you realize that appearances aren't always what they seem...

"Dude, I'm Alfie Black, I'm a fucking rock star, I'm supposed to sleep late and party into the night."

K.L.Shandwick's characters are complex, they're real, they have human flaws, they make mistakes, they feel & they make you feel... Alfie is an enigma. At first glance he may appear to be the stereotypical cocky, arrogant, sexy as sin rock star, but in "Love With Every Beat", we find out why... We find out about his guilt, his vulnerability, his conflicted feelings... "A square peg in a round hole..." Screamed out at me... It summed Alfie up perfectly, & in a way K.L.Shandwick's books too... There is so much beyond the surface!

Yes, they are SIZZLING... Take the ice-cream & champagne incident for one... & don't get me started on "beer bottles"... I will never quite look at one the same way again *winks*

"Oh. My. God. Incredible."

Yep, toe-curling, squirmingly good!!! Read in public at your own risk, if you know what I mean! ...

"I won't make love to you Lily. I will thoroughly fuck you though. With your permission, of course, and maybe we'll get a little kinky."

^^^^ "Oh. Dear. God."

Thank-you K.L.Shandwick for taking me on another emotional, hot, rollercoaster ride...

You. Rocked. It!!!

5 Stars! If you haven't had the Alfie/Shandwick experience yet... 1-click... You'll be hooked!

This book has a fiery intensity right from the start. The lead character Alfie starts out as a rock god in the making. He's well on his way. He has the looks, the body, the swagger and the voice. He's an accomplished musician. He always has something up his sleeve. But then he sees her. Lilly.
She's sweet, optimistic, drop dead gorgeous, and has mad skills as a singer/songwriter and guitarist. The attraction is instant. He sets his sites on her. He always gets whatever girl he fancies...end of story. His life is about to change on all levels!
He thinks he's ready to have his life shift into high gear. Life has other plans for him.
Love is going to take a piece of Alfie. The only way he'll retrieve it is to love her or leave her. He's angry! He wants the bachelor's life...Hit it, quit it, forget it. That's not an option anymore. And therein lies the story.
If you're on the fence about this book then don't be. This is a wonderful story. The characters are well fleshed out. This book made me laugh, curse, shout, and cry. The way the characters express their emotions is very real. I was right there with them all the way. There are twists, turns and surprises throughout.
My guarantee: Alfie will be your new BBF!! Get ready for HAWT!!

"When I first saw you Lily, I couldn't stop staring at you. You didn't see me at all. You walked past me, your cute little face smiling up at the sun, and I knew there and then, I had to have you. I've never had a reaction to anyone like the one I had when I first laid my eyes on you." ~ Alfie Black

You heard Lily's story in K.L. Shandwick's The Everything Series. Now it's Alfie's turn to give you his side of their all consuming relationship.

First of all, I completely fell in love with Alfie Black in The Every Series and now in Love With Every Beat, I love him even more. Of course his physical description is the first thing you're attracted to. Dark hair, fit body, amazing smile, not to mention the man oozes a raw sexuality that had me panting during many of his and Lily's intimate encounters. Lily and Alfie's sexual chemistry sizzles from word one and it just gets hotter and hotter.

Before I say anything else, I will tell you if you haven't read Lily's side of the story in The Everything Series, one click it now. Not that Love With Every Beat can't be read as a stand alone, but it's so much better to know the whole story.

As much as I love Alfie, I have to say, I thought he was a terrible man-whore and some of his actions towards Lily were insanely inconsiderate. After reading Love With Every Beat, I was pretty wrong about Alfie. He's so much more than a stunning, sensual rock god.

So, the story line is the same. Alfie sees Lily her first day at university and finds himself completely drawn to her. Now Alfie is no saint and has been around the block a time or two, but meeting Lily throws his whole world into a frenzy. He finally meets this amazing girl that he wants mind, body and soul, but he keeps telling himself he can't have those things.

Alfie, has suffered some major losses in his life. He lost his mom and dad one right after the other. His mom to cancer and his dad drank himself to death after his mom passed away. He also lost his best friend Gary. Gary joined the army right out of high school and got killed instantly when he drove over a land mine. And here's where Alfie's life gets hinky. He promised Gary he would take care of his girl while he was away. Well now that Gary's gone permanently, Alfie takes that promise to heart and continues to take care of Gary's girl Kara and Kara's daughter Poppy. Kara comes with her own set of baggage (read the book).

Kara is not the only obstacle in Alfie's life. His band, Crakt Soundzz is just about to blow up and Alfie feels like he can't have anything holding him back. It all usually comes back to taking care of Kara.

When Alfie meets Lily, that whole idea of "I can't love anyone", or "I'm not a hearts and flowers guy" goes right out the window. Anyone with eyes can tell Alfie loves Lily from the second he sees her. He pursues her throughout the story even though on several occasions Lily begs Alfie to leave her alone. He just can't do that. But he also can't admit his feelings to Lily or even to himself. He keeps denying the way he feels because of the obligations he has.

His behavior wrecks Lily and every time she feels like she's moving on, Alfie pops back into the picture. For someone who says they can't love, the emotions that go on in Alfie's brain through the entire story scream that he's madly in love with Lily. He becomes obsessed with Lily and although many of his actions come close to destroying them, I promise you'll be yelling at them to JUST GET TOGETHER ALREADY!

When Alfie finally lets himself admit his love for Lily, I nearly lost it. Here's this beautiful man trying desperately to fight off feelings for the woman he clearly loves, finally admitting his feelings to himself and to Lily. When Alfie finally told Lily he loved her, I melted into a puddle.

Unfortunately for Lily and Alfie love may not be strong enough to keep them together. As both of their careers take off you wonder if they have what it takes to be a couple. Yes they love each other desperately. Yes their sex is off the chain hot ( I must say Ms. Shandwick, you can write some majorly steamy love scenes). But, can they make it? Well guess what? You have to read Love With Every Beat to find out. Unless you've read The Everything Series and know the ending.

Is Alfie's story worth the read? Absolutely. Alfie's character is just so much more than you got to see in Lily's side of the story. Do I think it made Alfie less edgy? Nope. I fell even more in love with him knowing what was going on in his head.

Wow....I had a lot to say (deep breath). Anyway, I'm giving Love With Every Beat a five lip smack review. I'm telling you go one click away. You won't regret it.

ARC given for an honest review. 3.5 star rating.

Alfie (the lead) is a sexually competent alpha male. The author, K.L. Segwick, wrote Alfie as the perfect guy to have fun with. Just thinking about how she described his mouth and all the wonderful things he was described as doing in this book; well it makes my lady part weep, it drips with joy.

He is delectable and his perseverance and stamina is ferocious. As you can tell, I really liked Alfie. His POV is so sad, sweet, difficult, and causes the reader to be patient, such as the characters had to learn to be.

The book is a long installment and to dissect into the important moments in Alfie’s life. It also shows his longevity of love for Lily. Alfie defines the saying love is a battlefield and not cookie cutter perfect. Segwick writes Alfie and Lily as humans, who show their ego, hurt, triumph and confidence.

The story (in the beginning) really depicts Alfie as not a great guy, a hot guy, but he was a dick. A big one, per the book.

While I was reading, I thought, why would I read a book about a shitty guy, why does he have to be an asshole? He is human and in the book world, we are so use to the creation of the Hero, that we forget that not all men are like Christen Grey. They make stupid decisions and when they do, they are not always easily forgiven.

There were so many sections in the book; I was screaming, “Go to her!” “Make better decisions!” “Keep that massive dick in your pants.” “Tell her how you feel.” “OMG, he really worked her well. Wow.”

I was lost in the beginning of this book because I never read Lily’s two books. Also, this book is long and it took me awhile to get into it. But once I began to know the characters, I was able to understand the book a little bit better. I do not believe this is a stand-alone book. You must read this book after you have read book one and book two.

Happy reading.

KL Shandwick, where do I begin? I loved reading about Alfie’s versions of events, I actually preferred it to Lily’s perspective! When I read the Everything Trilogy, I found myself constantly asking: ‘What is Alfie thinking at this point? Why is this happening?’ so to actually be able to read about it was amazing! We learn a hell of a lot about Alfie, his motives, his real feelings and more importantly the reasons behind his actions! Don’t get me wrong I really liked the character of Alfie in the Everything trilogy, but reading his point of view made me love him! I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so I’ll just say it is not what it seems! Shandwick has managed to create the perfect rocker in my eyes! Alfie is a passionate, kind, loving and amazing man that does not conform to the ‘norm’ and stereotype of rockers – I want an Alfie!
Love With Every Beat is beautifully written, KL’s writing style is becoming more pronounced and inspiring. The soundtrack is amazing! The lyrics that she wrote herself are beautiful and just so very impressive! Her ability to recreate a male POV is flawless, I’m used to a change in POVs being for a chapter or just one book but KL has managed to tell Alfie’s perspective over the three books without sounding repetitive.
KL Shandwick’s writing career is still a fairly young one but I know it is going to be a long one. I for one will be on clicking every step of the way!

(I apologise if this review isn’t as well written as my normal ones – I’m still coming down from this emotional book hangover!)

After reading The Everything Trilogy by KL Shandwick it was an obvious choice to pick up Love With Every Beat which shows us Alfie and Lily's story from his POV.
First off I absolutely LOVE Alfie Black although when I was reading The Everything Trilogy my feelings kept changing towards him I liked him one minute and hated him the next but this is why reading this book is a must! You get to understand why he is the way he is and why he does the things he does, just when I thought I couldn't love his character any more than I already did, I read this book and I love him so much more and I didn't think that could be possible!
Although LWEB is Alfie's POV from the Everything Trilogy I didn't feel like I was reading the same book again, it reads like a whole new book, like I was discovering Alfie and Lily's journey for the very first time and although there are scenes that I remember from The Everything Trilogy, it's great to read what Alfie was thinking and feeling in the particular moment as well.
Thank you KL Shandwick for producing such an excellent story and I'm truly sad to say goodbye to Alfie, you introduced me to my first ever Rock God and he'll always hold a special place in my heart.

The opposite of death is desire...and that's Alfie Black. A man tortured by his past, submerged in loss, filled with drive and longing, lost in responsibility and captive of true love and burning desire for Lily. These star crossed lovers take you on a journey filled with hungry and loss, anxiousness, anger and joy. A complicated and beautifully written story. The characters live, breathe and tear out each others heart on the pages until true love finds its rightful course and the reader is completely lost in the magnificent journey of Alfie and Lily. I loved, loved, loved this book. I loved it so much, I have to go back and start at the beginning and read the other three books. I so want to know what goes on in Lily's head.

A magnificent novel by a new rising talent. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves love.

This was the first book of K L Shandwick's that I've read and I LOVED it.She wrote this after her Everything series, because her readers requested it. I'm amazed that she was able to write this as something that could easily be read as a stand alone.

Alfie could have come off as a selfish rock star who thinks with his pants, but she adds so much depth to his character that you can't help, but fall in love with him and his often foolish ways. His life has been anything, but easy the past few years and sadly, he let's those demons block his path to love. She takes you from his first glimpse of Lily, through all of their struggles to a surprising, and adventurous ending. If you're a fan of rock stars and their inner demons, you will love this read.

If you read The Everything Trilogy you know that it's from Lily's POV. Love With Every Beat is Alfie's POV on his life and his relationship with Lily.
This is one of most intense POV's I have read in a long time, it really moved me.
I loved and hated and even at times cursed Alfie for the way he treated Lily. The more I read this book it brought to light so many unanswered questions that I had. What Alfie was feeling, thinking and his struggle with his emotions. It made me understand why he handled his life and the relationship with Lily the way he did.
K L Shandwick did it again !! I can hardly wait for more books from this amazing author .

It's taken me 2 weeks to read this book. It's long, it's drawn out. It's so steamy your panties will melt.
Alfie Black is a sexy rock star who falls in love with Lily Parnell a sexy rock chic. Their relationship is a complete mind fuck but in the end they find their true happiness.

In for a penny in for a pound, I had to read this book after reading the trilogy from the other POV. It offered a few interesting points from Alfie's perspective. An interesting read.

“Charlie, do you know infinity and beyond? That’s where my love for Lily stretches. Nothing compares, nothing will ever compare to Lily. Everything IS Lily. I know that word doesn’t sound like much, and it’s not very descriptive. But believe me, when Lily is in the room, and I look at her, my heart only beats for her.” Alfie Black in Love With Every Beat by K.L. Shandwick

Love With Every Beat is a story of a man who loved in silence and made many mistakes but with time he proved himself to be worthy and rose to win Lily Parnell’s heart. I don’t want to write too many details of the story in fear of giving it away. But the above quote says it all.

Every page I read, every word I absorbed was riveting as the next. I read the Everything Trilogy so I was familiarized with all the characters and many of the scenes depicted in Love With Every Beat. What K.L. Shandwick achieved was beyond extraordinary. Condensing three books into one volume, encompassing many of the scenes I was acquainted with in the original trilogy and adding Alfie Black’s back story was quite the feat. The author elevated her writing style to another dimension. This evolution is noticeably seen book after book. As an avid reader, this brings me so much joy because you can tell the author has grown artistically and well on her way to becoming the owner of her craft.

K.L. Shandwick is very talented at describing scenes, feelings and actions. The steamy romance had me blushing and squirming more often than not and with every broken-hearted scene, I was right there with Alfie. Not many authors can accomplish that.

Alfie Black is one hot book boyfriend. Yes, I am a fan of the author. Yes, I absolutely love this story of star crossed lovers who finally get their happily ever after. But more importantly, I love this book because it showed me a side of Alfie Black I never knew was possible.

I pray K.L. Shandwick continues writing riveting stories such as this one. I will gladly buy and read more of her books.

My heart will always beat for Alfie!!!

After reading The Everything Trilogy by KL Shandwick, you can't help but feel an emptiness within, the idea of not reading more about Alfie and Lily is a crude one, THANKFULLY we didn't have to wait long as KL has presented us with Love With Every Beat, Alfie's POV.

I am not a big fan of the individual POV's but I rather read each side of their story as I read along, however, this book for me was like a completely different experience, more than a complement to TET I felt I was reading a new book and that really brought a smile to my face.

We really needed to read about him, we needed to know why Alfie was the way he was and what made him behave as he did in all those books. His story is a complex one and you can't help but fall in love with each passing chapter, with each new page and with every new song. I think at times when reading the trilogy you see yourself cringing at some of the things he did to Lily or the way he behave towards her, but it's this book the one that will show us his true self and why he is the man he is today.
Heartache and loss have played a major role in his formative years and he has used the only mechanisms in order to survive and cope with life, it's those bad habits the ones which at time hinder his relationship with the only person who has made him feel alive one more time, and those factors will be critical to him if he wants to win the love of Lily.

KL is wonderful at the descriptive and at times I feel like I was a voyeur into Alfie's most secret and hidden thoughts, the story flows so well it's like you want to pick up the phone and call him and ask to tell you what new song he has written or when is his band playing next. Fans of rockstar romance will absolutely love this story. Although it can be read as a standalone I will strongly advice reading The Everything trilogy to thoroughly enjoy Alfie's book.

5 rocking STARS!!

I have just finish this male POV and WOW!. I read The Everything Trilogy last year and truly loved the story of Alfie and Lily. Heart strings were definitely broken but to hear Alfie tell his side of the story nearly broke my heart reading. I have to be honest and when reading the trilogy I swayed towards wanting to protect Lily, but after reading Alfie's side of the story I can now see that not all is black and white as it seemed. Alfie has a strong personality, very musically motivated with a heart of gold. He is the type of man we all dream of and Lily has him, she literally owns his heart. He feels no love can feel like this with anyone else, he will never be over her, never stop loving her, missing her, wanting to hold her. Having read The Everything Trilogy I already know Lily's side so when events take place I can now picture both sides. It's a loving story that will bring a lump to your throat and fall in love with Alfie that little bit more. Yes, Alfie is a hot, god like rockstar but more than that he is a man who loves with everything he has, he hasn't had the easiest of life and always looks after the people around him. He is deserving of happiness and to him Lily is that happiness. But also I found myself laughing, it's filled with humour, I mean really how could it not, Alfie's band Cratz Soundzz on a bus touring, imagine the things they come up with. This story has some great characters , I loved hearing more about Jack as him and Alfie become close. I hope all the guys find their forever. I can't believe I waited so long to read this but happy I eventually did. If you loved The Everything Trilogy, you will definitely love taking this journey with Alfie. If you have not read the Trilogy I would suggest you do read before reading 'Love With Every Beat' I think you would connect more by doing this. Either way Alfie Black is A ROCK GOD and I love him.

LWEB....Love with every beatI was a little hesitant but also excited to read Alfie's point of view, sometimes they just don't work - not so in this case :)Delving into the thoughts behind each action, each decision was unbelievably incredible. Although there was a lot missing from the books in the everything trilogy... KL Shandwick managed to brilliantly combine parts of the whole Alfie and Lily story.I was amazed at how wrong I was about Alfie. I dont agree with why he did the things he did or what he did, but I understand perfectly. I had my doubts of Alfie's love for Lily and truthfully there were times I hated him. There are no doubts now.LWEB is a great accompanyment to the everything trilogy. It's not a required read BUT I really, really, really encourage you to read this.....The insight into Alfie's mind is telling, provocative and thoughtful. It can be read as a stand alone book though much better if read after you've read the everything trilogy.Yes it does go over stuff you read in the trilogy but that's necessary.... It's Alfie's point of view, from the beginning to the end after all !!!I'm glad I read this and it's a MUST read for anyone who enjoyed the everything trilogy

Review of Love with Every Beat by K. L. Shandwick

Review for Hooked On Books

3 ½ out of 5 stars

Love with Every Beat is Alfie’s POV of the Everything trilogy.

Alfie pours his heart out in his story. We learn his side of everything that happened through his eyes in all three books.

I really liked Alfie, he is hot, sexy, an expert in bed, and super sweet when he wants to be. That said, he drove me crazy. He was so back and forth with his emotions all the time it was hard to keep up.

As much as I wanted him and Lily, the super sexy and sweet musician from London, to be together, I just can’t picture them lasting even at the end of the book.

Yes, they have smoking chemistry in the bedroom, and they both seem to love each other, I just didn’t feel their total connection.

It was a good story but the book is very long. It just seemed to drag on with no real ah moments.

Love with every beat is K.L. Shandwick's story of events told from the rockstar Alfie Blacks point of view based around the Everything trilogy.

Alfie Black is a rockstar who meets Lily Parnell and their world changes from the moment they meet.

With love, romance, heartbreak and the music within 2 rock bands these two experience the most highs and lows between each other you could imagine until enough is enough and realise love is the key. Can they make it work with how their lifes have moved on?

Seeing how the way Alfie's mind works and how his emotions are displayed within this book with added extras we dont see within the everything trilogy this makes for an amazing follow on read.

When tragedy hits during a concert they realise how strong their love is and never want to let go. How can Alfie and Lily make music and love combine in with their life dream?

Lots of angst and very emotional, this is a real up and down read with the strong characters as they fight their love and lives. Both striving for their careers that constantly pull them apart, while the love keeps pulling them back together. The rawness and heartbreak during the break ups is deep and you wonder if either will have the strength or will power to get up and get on again. Trust and communication played a big part in the mistakes they both make, not telling everything costs a lot of time and years that they could have been happy, but it also gave both time to grow and mature to the point each was more adaptable and able to actually see ways to make it work. The story is a journey, a fairly long one but it is so worth it for the prize at the end.
