Delbert Judd
Delbert Judd chose isolation from the world in order to achieve a tenuous peace at home with his high-functioning but unstable wife, Hannah, who suffers from borderline personality disorder.
For ten years, the neighborhood has been something Delbert watched through his blinds—a soap opera in a foreign language.
But when Hannah leaves on an extended trip and a religious-infused zoning conflict erupts in the neighborhood, Delbert is persuaded to journey out into the world again—as long as he can be home by eight o’clock sharp for his nightly call from Hannah.
As he reconnects with the outside world, Delbert is happy to find his wicked sense of humor still intact. What troubles him and his neighbors is that Delbert can no longer keep his thoughts to himself.
Delbert Judd takes on the abuse of religious freedom as it impacts a local neighborhood. The novel also explores the devastating effects of borderline personality disorder on loved ones. It does all this while expertly unraveling secrets and revealing truths with a sharp humor and gentle insight that just might have you singing “Kumbaya” by the final pages.

I received a free Kindle copy of this book from the author for an honest review. I will say that it started off slowly and I was not sure where the author was headed. Once I started to get more of a feel for Delbert, however, I really enjoyed this book. I thought that Delbert was loveable and was really cheering for him at the end of the book. As I do not want to give anything away, I will just say that I recommend this book heartily. I thank the author and hope to read something else by him soon.
