Deadly Dose

Rate this book
Dr. Tom Elliott, a cosmetic surgeon and friend of Chief Charles Stallings, is found dead of an apparent suicidal drug overdose. It seemed Elliott was living the good a successful medical practice, a beautiful wife, and a home on an exclusive coastal island in Wilmington, North Carolina. Unbeknownst to his family and friends, he was fighting a demon. Surprised by the suicide and wanting answers, Chief Stallings summons his number one drug consultant, Dr. Barnes, a former clinical pharmacist now turned forensic pharmacist, to investigate. Within minutes of arriving on the scene, Barnes is convinced the chief’s friend was murdered. Teamed with James Logan, an egotistical detective who remains skeptical that a homicide has been committed, Barnes soon becomes frustrated when he’s unable to identify the cause of Elliott’s death. It seems the killer has gotten away with the perfect murder. Attorney Sarah Johnson, Barnes' best friend and biggest supporter of his career change, is baffled as she has never seen him struggle so much with a case. Then, while Barnes and Sarah are enjoying a casual outing, it hits he knows what killed Elliott. And he has Sarah to thank for it. Determined not to allow this to become his first unsolved case and wanting closure for the chief, Barnes makes it his number one priority to find the killer.
