Laddoos, cupcakes and candy are disappearing from lunch boxes! Will the Superlative Supersleuths catch the thief before the class descends into confusion and chaos?
Case Notes * The thief isn't from our class * Could be Mrs Dutta (Prime suspect among teachers) * The thief could be a GIRL too!
It is a really awesome and intriguing book!! Must - read!
Rachit and Aarti, the protagonists are the one-of-a-kind characters we rarely see in books for tweens and teens. The book is funny at places, and realistic about the life of a tween living in contemporary India. With Rachita's narration, we get a first-hand account of the investigation. The author has given us quite an enjoyable read. Expecting more!
Archit Taneja’s “The Case of the Candy Bandit” is the story of the Bandit who steals the Candies or other small treats.
Rachita and Aarti are the founding members of Superlative Sleuths; they have decreed that any crime committed shall be solved.
Everybody in their class routinely get small treat packs, usually a sweet dessert, as incentive for finishing their lunches. One day it happens that many of their classmates find that their small treat packs meant as snacks go missing, which keeps repeating everyday. Surely this is an occasion for their crime solving skills to be put to use.
Methodical approaches to problem-solving that elicit a smile and even wonder make this a delightful book to read. For a complete review, check PlusMinus'n'More
This is an engaging mystery story. The idea of Rachita getting the ideas as for how to solve the mystery from several dreams including sheep jumping the fence, assassin squirrels, and Archimedes is quite interesting and new.
However, I found a few parts of the story easy to figure out, like when Rachita couldn't see anyone or anything from the cupboard I knew it had to be a little critter, such as a rat or an ant. Also, the idea of an ant eliminated when Aarti and Rachita found 'star-shaped marks' on Vipul's bag; an ant can't leave star-shaped marks from its legs, or all of them, as an ant has 6 and the star had 5 corners.
All in all, the mystery of treats disappearing was very interesting, and I would love to continue reading the series.

What a fun book! I loved the two protagonists - one rational and the other emotional. The plot is completely believable. And the clues were so perfect. Of course there was dollops of humour which makes it a hazard to read while you are doing something else. Please never try that. (I tried to read while on the treadmill.) Taneja's is a promising debut. I can't wait for the other books in the series.
3.5 stars!!! A fun read! Missed my school days and the golden time. Plot is believable and interesting. I din't thought books for teenagers could be so appealing. A good change from usual stuff. Archit is promising author. Expecting more such kind of stuff! And I personally really like all those diagrams, that was unique.
This book took me back to school! The main characters are etched out very well for a kids' book! And I liked it even more because the protagonist - Rachita - might as well have been me when I was 12. Kids will really like this! And the drawings made the book much more fun - "What is the use of a book without pictures?" Good stuff, Archit!
I read this when I wasn't into reading this much, and in my opinion, it is perfect for anyone to enter and explore the reading world as a child. He came to our school for workshop and I liked how easily I finished the first ever published book I read.
