A revenge plot gone romantic...a bit cliche', but it worked! This is a plot device usually used in historical romance, so I wondered if it would seem cheesy here but it didn't. It was predictable, but if you're looking for short and hot, this is a great little novella. Zach's motives may be bad but his actions speak to the heart of a romantic like me :D
You don't have to read H.M. Ward series in order to understand what's going on here. I haven't, but if this was meant to draw readers that way, it certainly did the trick with me! I'm salivating at the chance to see what is behind the horrible event that spawned this little short.

2 Stars! A confusing read!
The storytelling and plot was severely lacking and I know Carly Phillps can do better. I was at a total loss as to what was going on with some of the characters. Apparently this is connected to the series, The Arrangement by H.M. Ward, which I am not familiar with, and because the basis of this story is linked to that storyline, it was very hard to connect with the plot and the characters. While it's being promoted as a standalone and readers are told they don't need to read the other series, I tend to disagree. There are quite a few important issues that are addressed in this book , and since I don't have a clue to the back-story of the characters, I was lost!
I also had no empathy for Chloe and for the life of me could not understand how she could want to continue in a relationship with a man who deceived her so badly...what a sneaky jerk! Or, for that matter remain friends with a man who apparently caused unimaginable trauma to another woman, or so it was implied. Then again, I didn't read the other series, so I might not be making the correct assumptions. However, read as a standalone, that's how I interpreted what I read.
My recommendation, if you haven't read The Arrangement series by H.M. Ward, don't read this. Start there first, and then come back to The Seduction, it will probably make more sense. I won't be reading that series, I have no intention of wading through all those short stories to find out what the heck happened here.

Chloe was burnt badly by the one man she trusted. His deceit left Chloe with unwanted attention and a reputations she did not deserve. When she notices Zach Anders she is not sure what his interest is, but he does spark her interest. When Chloe is attacked Zach intervenes and finds herself trusting the mysterious man. What Chloe doesn't realize though is she is a pawn in his plan for revenge.

Okay, I’ve had this on my TBR list for a while too long. I used to plow through Ms. Carly’s books during my illness like there was no tomorrow. Then we started doing reviews and they got pushed down on my list. I was so happy coming across it. Like meeting an old friend.
Once again, she was able to take a short story of about 75 pages and not only put a lot of emotions on notice but a lot of action going on between several characters also.
Chloe Reynolds is a college girl on her last semester and then she will be finished with her business degree and a minor in culinary although culinary is her first love. Her parents who she is convinced never wanted her or have ever really liked her. They would only pay for the business degree. So, she outwits them by doing it as a minor. They are never the wiser, with them being so indifferent to her never catch on.
One thing they had to notice because of some of their not so nice friends from their country club, of course, had to tell them. Was that Chloe’s, now ex-creep of a boyfriend, leaked a video of her first time every having sex with him that they had just recently. So now, it had gone viral and everyone had seen it on campus too. But, it was better for her to ask her parent to live on campus than to be iced out by them. Real support, right?
While out on her own, she gets a job at a tavern. When a sexy MAN not a college boy but a MAN starts watching her but never talking to her she kind of likes it. She gets creeped out by it for sure at first but he doesn’t talk to her, say anything to her or attempt anything so she is okay with it. She can actually feel his eye on her all the time.
Then, she gets mugged after worked by this guy who had come in to work with his friends and was showing them her sex video. He was being crude and loud. He was acting like a jerk so she spilled his drink on the table by putting it down to hard and it splashed on his pants. She just laughed and walked away. It pissed the guy off. He was waiting for her after work and tried to rape her. But Sexy Guy, Zach Anders, beat the crap out of him.
Seeing him do it scared her but at the same time, it made her feel wanted and needed. Especially, when he says he stays every night to make sure she gets in her car and home safe. But it didn’t frighten her too much. In fact, it kind of made her feel good because no one has ever worried about her not even her parents. Zach told her he would drive her home not that scared her. She said no. He said he had to the guy slit her tires. He said they had to hurry before the guy woke up and he ended up in jail.
The next morning when she was prepared to walk back to campus the 19 blocks since she had him take her to friends. She had called her neighbor, Sean, who no one seemed to like because his wife had come up missing at one time and he was the number one suspect. But she never saw it that way. When she never had anyone, Sean was the one always there for her. They were the two misfits of the family. His of his siblings and hers of being an only child never wanted. She asked if he would fix the tires and she would somehow pay him back. She could tell her parents. He said yes and not to worry about the money he had it.
When she went to leave, Zach was standing by his truck prepared to take her where she needed to go. He talks her finally into letting him take her back but first into getting to know one another. He takes her to breakfast. Right as breakfast is getting there Sean calls to say when his guys got to the car all the tires had been fixed. She was surprised by Sean was leery. She warned her that no guy fixed something for nothing and to watch her back. She says she knows who may have done it.
This is a book where things are not what they seem and people are good until their not. A real page turner that you will want to read. I am not sure if everyone has experienced Kindle Worlds before. I have read a few in my day. But basically this is a sort of fan fiction with new characters in a current book universe. This book is connected to the series, The Arrangement by H.M. Ward. A spin-off per say.
Zach is out for revenge against Sean Ferro for hurting his sister. Sean is the main guy in The Arrangement. But instead of going after current Sean’s girlfriend who Zach can’t seem to touch, he goes after a girl who is important to him. A girl like a sister to him.
I found this book quite interesting. Zach wanted revenge but he was conflicted. The girl he chose to manipulate, he ends up falling for her. Now he doesn’t know if he wants his revenge or he wants to find a place in his life for her. Of course, he has gone too far to turn back and that alone causes all sorts of conflict once the dirty laundry is aired and the crap hits the fan.
Great suspense and tension. And of course, the sexy parts were good too. I actually read this book before I read the one that inspired it. Good stuff.
I purchased this book with my own money.

Ward’s The Arrangement series but apparently The Seduction is a companion novella that links back to the premise and some of the events in the original series. I am not sure how this particular storyline came to be; it almost reads like a bit of fan fiction where H.M.Ward has authorized other authors to write companion storylines to The Arrangement series.
The premise follows Chloe in her final days and weeks leading up to her college graduation. When an unauthorized sex tape between she and her ex boyfriend goes viral, Chloe finds herself alone, without the help of her family, struggling to pay off her debt and her loans. Shunned by most of the other students Chloe works nights at a local club, tending bar and waiting on tables. Enter Zach Anders-a man who seeks out Chloe for his own purpose.
The relationship between Chloe and Zach begins as friends then quickly turns to lovers. As Chloe begins to lose her heart to Zach, her best friend Sean Ferro begins to dig into Zach’s identity and past. What he discovers will destroy Chloe’s world, once again, leaving her numb and feeling violated a second time.

The Seduction by Carly Phillips
I was left wanting more…from this short little novella by Carly Phillips entitled ‘The Seduction.
I found that I related to Chloe from the very beginning. Not everyone is so advanced when it comes to dating before going off to college. Many of us as young coeds are naïve and learn very quickly what life is like out there. As I was reminded not too long ago by a college friend…at how naïve I really had been. Ms. Phillips did a wonderful job in such a short time of putting this across to the reader without going into allot of detail.
Although I didn’t go through quite the same things as Chloe I still was able to relate. She had parents who I felt should have been a little more supportive (dad needed to grow a set) but this only added to the depth of the character along with the storyline.
I wanted to hate both Zack and Sean, first Sean for what he had done that made Zack so bitter (you won’t get a spoiler from me) and secondly (understanding why Zack wanted to do what he was thinking of doing)
Zack for what he thought he had to do. All this was something when hinted to I didn’t see coming or even sense the connection. I was totally on a different wave of thought. I eventually ended up feeling really sorry for them.
I found that I had to keep turning the pages to find out what happens with Chloe only to find out that I wanted more. Ms. Phillips did a great job of wrapping everything up while answering all of my questions and even giving me that HEA that one tends to look for in her books.
As I neared the end I was ready for the letdown that there may not be a HEA ending. However, this I will spoil there is a HEA.
Chloe, Hot Guy - Zach, Best friend/brother figure – Sean, along with an interesting story made for a nice summer read. I think I may have forgotten to mention chemistry and hot sex. This is one quickie that just might heat up your lunch or perhaps your afternoon.

This novella was quick, intense and somewhat confusing for me as I have not had the opportunity to read "The Arrangement" series so the backstory that was alluded to gave me more questions than answers but I chose to ignore that and concentrated on what was happening between Zach and Chloe...which kinds made sense in an intense YA kind of way but is really a "what in the world were you thinking?" sense when you're no longer a YA...

I'm glad SOMEONE'S writing for this series since Ms. Ward appears to be too busy trying to make money with her other ventures, like her How-2-Make-$Money$-by-Self-Publishing-Webinars OR she doesn't know how to end this series in a way her readers will accept (or maybe both).

Short but fantastic!
Even though this is a short book, it still felt comp!ete. It has everything I like in a romance...a hot guy, strong heroine, gut-wrenching angst and a surprising HEA. Even a crossover character.

The way Carly Phillips wrote this novella you do not need to have read The Arrangement series by H.M. Ward but you're going to want to when you're done with this. I haven't read it and I want to.
Chloe is a college senior working on her business degree with dreams of becoming a chef. A stupid mistake with her now ex-boyfriend has her already frigid parents even moreso with her and glad to have her move to the dorms for the rest of her senior year. When this happens, she gladly gets a job at a bar/restaurant as a waitress.
Zach is a PI bent on revenge on Chloe's old neighbor, Sean Ferro, for what he did to his sister, but when he starts in on his plan, he doesn't plan on falling for the girl he plans to hurt.
Zach comes to Chloe's aid when a college kid gets rough with her and slashes her tires. He befriends her, gains her trust, and ends up falling in love with her.
Chloe is cautious with men since her ex and the sex tape scandal. When Zach comes to her aid, she still doesn't want to trust him, but finds herself doing so as he becomes her friend and protector and something much more.
When Sean finds out Zach's name, he finds out who Zach really is and goes to him.
When Chloe finds out the truth, does Zach get his revenge? Does she forgive him and move on?

Zach Anders wants to avenge his sister and Sean Ferro is his target. The best way to deliver his punch? To hit sweet Ms. Chloe Reynolds, she is important to him just like family. Perfect right? Except the more Zach learns about her, the more he falls for her and then hurting her becomes too close to home. Chloe knew things could be even worse, but not by far. She was an internet porn star, courtesy of her ex, who betrayed her and turned her already unloving parents into complete strangers. She was laughed at at school and needed to work hard to be taken seriously if she were to accomplish the goal of opening her own restaurant someday. Then Zach saves her from being raped and things spiral from there. A quick romance follows and the crash of secrets and truth. Falling in love and revenge do not mash, yet it is impossible not to fall when you meet your match. Zach and Chloe's story is bittersweet, sexy and filled with hope for love and forgiveness that even a Ferro makes mistakes and regrets it everyday and the ones he affected suffered, but then healed too. I loved The Seduction and thought Carly met Holly's voice and matched a Ferro romance to perfection. H.M. Ward fans won't be disappointed. The seduction rocks!

This well written novella brings together Sean Ferro with one of his friends - Chloe. She grew up with Sean (being his neighbor), and what started as a juvenile crush has now evolved into a friendship and brotherly/sisterly love. Sean is very protective of Chloe... and let's just say, Chloe is an innocent who needs protecting.
Throughout the story, you cannot help yourself wanting to warn her not to be naive. She is sweet, openly warm and friendly. Unfortunately, her douche bag ex boyfriend betrayed her and she is living with the consequences of his actions. Having sworn off men, she is concentrating on finishing college and pursuing her dreams.

Throughout the story, you cannot help yourself wanting to warn her not to be naive. She is sweet, openly warm and friendly. Unfortunately, her douche bag ex boyfriend betrayed her and she is living with the consequences of his actions. Having sworn off men, she is concentrating on finishing college and pursuing her dreams.

It is really short. I don't think that the caterers are very good or how it ends. The description is from Zach's POV but basically all of the book is from Chloe's POV. This story is very rushed with it skipping massive clumps of time.
I found Chloe to be very silly and jumps into relationships to quickly. She is ment to be a strong women who can fight her own battles and does not need a saviour.
Zach was a difficult charter to understand what he is thinking or planing. He goes back and forth we his decisions and if he did really love Chloe then he would not do anything to hurt her.
I would have liked to know more about what happened to Zach's sister and what Sean had done to her because all we get are vague answers and she seems like she would have or problems then just Sean.
With all that said, for such a short story with some really f&£@ed up moments it was a good book if you want a short story about a girl who is very naive and far to trusting of strangers and a guy who is difficult to under stand and is sometimes a jerk and mean.

I'm a huge fan of Carly Phillips and read her new books as soon as they come out. I've not actually read any of the books in The Arrangement world by H.M. Ward until this story, but plan to read more in this world.
I really loved Chloe from the beginning. She is such a strong character and really only grew stronger over the course of the story. I loved Zach from the moment he appeared in Chloe's life, but knew he was hiding something from Chloe, even as they grew closer. I could feel how much he was struggling between his feelings for Chloe and his need for revenge, and honestly it made me like him even more. Had he just wanted revenge without taking in his feelings, I would have ended up hating him. I really loved Zach and Chloe as a couple and loved watching them work through their issues as a couple.
Carly Phillips packs lots of story in this novella length story and I think her fans and new readers will love it.

This was a fast, fun and sexy read. I loved the characters. I want Zach! He is a hot and loyal alpha...what more could you want! Chloe is a young woman who trustingly got herself into a bad situation with her first boyfriend. She is now trying to pick up the pieces and take care of herself since her rich parents want nothing to do with her anymore.
What Chloe doesn't know is that the hot Zach who has been watching her at the bar where she works at is really trying to use her to get back at Sean Ferro. Sean did something horrible to a person close to Zach and he wants to seek revenge. What he didn't realize was that he was going to fall hard...hard for Chloe.
It was great watching Zach fighting his feelings for Chloe, while trying to determine if he still wanted to seek revenge. I really enjoyed the happy ending.

Loved It!! Absolutely needed that Ferro fix!!! I loved reading about Sean again and seeing a softer side to him. It was great to see that he is capable of caring for others, even outside of Avery. Glad to know that I was right about that regard to him. I have even more hope for him now. Chloe and Zach's story was great. Those Ferros sure do know how to bring out the worse in people, but it was great to see Zach overcome his need for vengeance. This was an awesome addition to the Ferro saga!!!

I take back every single negative thought I had when I 1st came across this book and author. I suppose I should have known Holly would not endorse something/someone that was not a quality writer.
I really did enjoy this story. Of course, I enjoyed it more because it encompassed part my favorite Ferro story.
Ferro fans- open your minds, your arms and embrace this book and this author.
I can't wait to check out Amazon to see what other books Carly Phillips has for me to read.

Good quick read book
I really enjoyed how this book had a connection with the author hm ward and it included one of her Ferro men, Sean.
I liked the story plot of Zach and Chloe's love affair but I wish their were more to their love story.

Zach is out for revenge on what Sean ferro did to his sister. He finds out Sean has a soft sisterly spot for Chloe.
Too bad his revenge plans come to a halt when he falls in love with her.
But seans smart and finds out Zachs plans..
Poor Chloe can't catch a break.

I enjoyed this book as it gave us a little more of insight on the kind of man Sean Ferro was and is. At the same time gave us a look at a few new people that have been effected by Sean both by his good actions and bad. Great ending and a must read for Ferro fans!

What a great little book to read. I really liked this book because of the main character chloe she seemed like such a strong main character that I absolutely loved the book because of her the most. I thought this book was going to be the same as most books that I read but not at all so I absolutely loved this book! It's a must read:)

I couldn't put the book down and read it from beginning to end in one session. It is a spin-off of another author's books that I enjoy. Near the end of the book there is a time in which the main female character is emotionally upset and I cried along with the character as I read the scene. I would recommend this book.

I enjoyed reading about Chloe and Zach. This is the first book I read by Carly Phillips and I loved every minute of it. I was drawn into this book because of HM Wards The Arrangement series but I continued reading due to the intense love you could feel between the characters.
