For M Desiderius, finding someone to love who loves her back was all she could have asked for in life. After marrying Briony and settling in, she begins to hope for even more. Her secret wish is to provide a home for an orphaned girl like she'd been at the age of nine. She owes it to the woman who took her in to pass along that kind act. With Briony's strength and love, she can finally open her home to a foster child. All would be perfect if not for the fact that Olivia isn't truly theirs. When something happens to put M's dream in jeopardy, will Briony and M find a way to move forward or will the devastating turn punch a hole in their life together that may never be filled?
Lynn Galli calls the Pacific Northwest home even though she's never written any software code, built an airplane, worn socks with sandals, or slung coffee. For the most part, she enjoys her real job but absolutely lives for the time she gets to spend writing.
A warm story about family and friends, and about fostering a child (from a parental and from a child's point of view). The entire Virginia clan is in the book in all kind of roles (starring my favorite character from the series -- M Desiderius). A very good and enjoyable read.
I wasn’t totally sold on this series when I read book 1, the friends just seemed so over the top and I got kind of tired of of the constant, “I’m in love with my best friend” excuse, but I kept reading. I think book 2 with Jessie and Lauren is my favorite, but I also enjoyed Blessed Twice, the story of Briony & M. I thought this was a very sweet follow-up/continuation of their story. Doesn’t mean my heart didn’t break for this family at times, but thankfully everything worked out. Definitely read Blessed Twice before this book though.
This is a direct sequel to Blessed Twice, and chronicles a year in M and Briony's lives as they take in a foster daughter. Olivia is first mentioned in Willa's epilogue (Finally) and this story fleshes out the impact taking her in has on the family.
At first I was worried when I realised that the POV would be swapping between M and Olivia, I can see why Olivia's POV was necessary but I'd still have preferred that it was used a bit less. The story loses some traction around the mid point and I found myself skimming a bit through the Olivia sections at that point.
I loved the interactions between the family, M and Bri, or each of them with the kids or the two kids together. There's also some wonderful interaction between M and Willa, some of the best moments in the book happen between them. The other VA characters are mentioned, and I noticed that Lynn doesn't seem to like the outer characters (those without their own stories) much either, as they are only mentioned in group scenes and always in a way that is bringing the fun down.
This is a nice slice of life story, and I loved M and Briony in Blessed Twice, so was happy to spend time with them (and their family) again. I'd give it 3 1/2 stars if Amazon allowed it, I only marked it down from four stars because of the overuse of Olivia's POV. It's still a nice read.
When M. Desiderius married Briony, she knew she had found the one person she’d thought she’d never find. Someone who loves her as much as she loves them. Her true soul mate. Dare M ask for more though?
M has a hidden desire to provide a home for an orphan. Not just any orphan, but a girl just like she had been at the tender and vulnerable age of nine years old. She feels she owes this to the memory of Kathryn, the woman who had taken her in and made a difference to her young life. Now she has Briony’s love, can her dream now become a reality?
Orphan, Olivia, joins their tight knit and loving family. But, things are far from perfect. Olivia isn’t solely theirs. In fact, it’s not long before M’s dreams are shattered by circumstances beyond their control. Will M and Briony find a way to right the devastation or will they lose Olivia forever?
I have to say, I love Lynn Galli’s writing. Whatever books she publishes, I buy without even reading the synopsis. Her books are well written and edited, her stories true to life and I’m always hooked from the first page through to the last.
I love the Virginia friends, although this is part of a series, it stands alone very well. But, I would strongly advise you to read all the books, especially Blessed Twice which tells M and Briony’s story. They are all great stories and give lots of background on the characters we read about in here.
This book focuses on a family unit, rather than just a simple romance. There is a burning romance throughout though, showing a tender and sweet love within a family. The story shows how a new member is introduced into an already loving family and is told from both M’s and Olivia’s points of view. It’s good to actually hear Olivia’s deepest thoughts and her emotional feelings as well as how the adults feel.
It was wonderful to have some of the other Virginia friends back too. Although they were playing minor roles.
There is a lot of emotional angst, plus a fantastic sense of humor interspersed throughout the book, so making the story both heart breaking and heart warming.
The only disappointment I had with this book was that it simply wasn’t long enough. I wanted more, much more. Hopefully, Lynn will bring us more from the Virginia clan in the future.
Unfortunately, I was kinda bored. Being forced to know how things will turn out is somewhat easier when it's a romance. Still annoying, but vaguely livable. When it's a . . um . . non-romance, knowing how everything will turn out takes out all the tension. So you are left with really long boring passages which would have been useful as tension builders, but . . . Galli seems to like letting the reader know how the next book will end in the previous book.
Olivia's passages were okay. Even interesting. But then I started skimming. Then I started skimming M's because they were so wrapped up stuff I didn't particularly care about.
I think the best scenes were the couple of times Jessie turned up. Which was, I believe, like twice.
Fully delivered on what I hoped for in a continuation of M and Briony's story. Not a romance, which was nice.
I don't think the Olivia's voice rang true at all times, and the characterization of Ian was so very cliche it was sad really. And why they continue to be friends with some of these people is beyond me, but has been right from the start.
I did like the portrayal of family life, M's continued struggle with social situations, Olivia's angst and the aunt's struggle toward the end.
The writing doesn't dazzle, but how the characters come alive on the pages make up for some of that.
I have loved every book by Lynn Galli and this one does not disappoint. Not a romance, but a love story nonetheless, the book chronicles Briony and M's (main characters of Blessed Twice) life together and their love for a foster daughter. The other members of the Virginia clan also make an appearance in this book. Having read the other books would probably help more to understand the dynamics of the different relationships. This author's books, though, are ones I can re-read time and again and still enjoy thoroughly.
I loved meeting M and Briony in Blessed Twice so to have a chance to spend time with them again in Forevermore was a wonderful thing. And Lynn Galli did a wonderful job of expanding their characters and letting them grow along with the introduction of Olivia. This story touched my heart with it's thoughtful understanding of human interactions and creating that chosen Family to love and support. I highly recommend this story.
I loved Blessed Twice. This book, not so much. It isn't bad; it just didn't grab me. I don't care much for the domestic setting and children drama - in fact, I don't care too much for children in any story and this was no different. I felt like nothing was really happening. I'm sure it was dramatic more emotionally involved in the story, but I never got there.
I did enjoy reading from M's perspective. This could have been a short-story, however. 2.5 stars rounded to 3.
Another stunningly good book from Lynn Galli on the lives of the Virginia clan friends. This book made me laugh and cry, it's characters and the story are entirely believable. M and Briony's love story and family are complete in this well written and completely believable book. A must read to complete the series.
Very interesting portrait of foster care from the inside.Thew boom combines two different perspectives and explores the insights of both.I like how the characters evolve and how you get To keep in touch with other characters of the series.
It's not really a romance, so if you think that you might get disappointed. I really liked it, but it is a little short. I was warned about both reading about the book on the authors webpage.
