4 Our Four-Legged Friends Always Know * * * *

Pets... we all love them. They have personalities and heart which can just make us feel exactly what we should at any given time. I think their love for us humans is pure and over my life, I have been very fortunate to have had furry children who meant the world to me.

In this book we have a pro baseball player who is devoted to his furry family, too. He is so hardcore about them, he has his assistant cook meals and treats for all four. This is in addition to handling his calendar and scheduling his life. When his assistant takes a few months off to have a portion of her own life... Ryan needs a temporary replacement.

Enter Beth... In need of a temporary position. Beth sees Ryan's ad and goes to the interview. Somehow she scores a "tryout". Shouldn't be too hard... well, that was before she was introduced to the four legged troupe she is to handle...and her failure to mention how she has zero experience with pets.

As she is instructed regarding the walking instructions, time it should take and then strict cooking and feeding schedule, a haze comes over her... taunting her ability to do this...Beth fights back like she has always done in the past; she sucks it up, takes the four leashes and goes out the door with reassurances to Ryan... everything will be A-ok.

As she takes this motley crew of two dachshunds, a golden retriever, and a Great Dane named Atlas down the sidewalks, Beth ponders how the hell she got here... She had started her own business as an event planner. She had connections whether she wanted to use them or not...and was about to break into all of the upper society level events... until everything beyond her control went very, very wrong. With her own family being ridiculously vindictive, Beth took just the things she needed and left. Traveling off the radar... doing bits here and there...this was how she was managing. She actually needed this gig and while she was thinking she would just be the best dog caretaker there was...

Atlas happened...

Atlas... the humongous Great Dane... the immovable object lying in the middle of Main street... seemingly down for the count... settled in for his nap...not moving no matter what Beth did to get him back to walking. As panic almost set in, she found some treats in her pocket to try and lure him up...his head moved and looked at her...As she thought maybe this was working, Ryan's voice was behind her suggesting she give Atlas the golden's leash to hold in his mouth. It seems Atlas is hopelessly in love with her and that is how they go home ever day.

Beth watched as Ryan held the leash for Atlas to take and off they went with Beth and Ryan following. Beth was going to say something but Ryan stopped her... with a smile and comfort in his way of letting her know she was fine...he had expected this to happen. Ryan watched as Beth gathered her attitude and went to take care of the required cooking. Impressed, he thought he made a smart choice in picking her. He also reminded himself she was not his type... so there will be no issues of wanting to date her. That was just something he couldn't deal with...

This being a romance tale... we know from the get go Beth will show Ryan how unassuming and real she is...as opposed to the models and gold-diggers he is use too. Also the real kicker will be how Atlas decides she is a keeper and he never likes anyone. We watch how all of the team mates want to hit on her causing feelings which confuse Ryan. As things progress, they both are interested but where will it go...and do either of them want more...can there be more...

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. There was enough depth and interest to hold me. The personalities of the pets, players and main characters were right for the tale. It was full of feelings, some miscommunication and recognition of letting things go to move forward. I will look for more in this series.

Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! Why must it be over!?

It's been a long time since I've read one of Kate Angell's books. It wasn't until I cracked it open that I realized just how much I'd missed her writing, her characters and the world she created. She's probably my favorite baseball romance writer so I was deeply saddened when her Richmond Rogues series came to an end. I had hoped it would go on for a lot longer than it did.

I'll admit that I haven't kept up with her new series. But this book, when I had the opportunity to review it, I couldn't pass it up. Not only was it her new series, it was baseball. Best of both worlds, right? Well, that's exactly what it was. I didn't realize it at the time but our hero Rylan plays for the Richmond Rogues. I actually felt my eyes tear up a little when some of my favorite characters from the past were mentioned and there was a little update on what they're doing now. It also made me want to binge read the whole series again.

From the moment I started this book, I was unable to put it down. Well…until around the 80% mark and it wasn’t that I wanted to put it down but I didn’t want it to end. I kept watching the % get closer to 100 and it just made my heart heavy that my reunion with Kate Angell and the Richmond Rogues was almost over.

I’m actually glad that I started with this book. Yes, it’s part of a series (number 4 to be exact) but it’s also a stand alone. The previous books were about Rylan’s siblings but I felt like this book bridged the Richmond Rogues series and the new one. For me, it introduced me to Rylan and the new crop of players on the Rogues and also introduced me to Rylan’s family. I fell for his family and can’t wait to go back and read their books. I’m also looking forward to books about the new Rogues. There was a preview of book 5 at the back of the book and it’s about one of Rylan’s team mates. I hope that the author will indeed write more baseball books because she knows how to perfectly balance baseball with romance.

Rylan is definitely one of my favorite heroes ever. I loved the slow build relationship between him and Beth. The whole reason he hired her was because she wasn’t his type and he wasn’t attracted to her. So I loved how he fell for her as he got to know her. And I loved Atlas and his matchmaking ways! Atlas and his antics had me in stitches.

I feel like I haven’t really talked about this book specifically and honestly, I don’t know what to really say besides that this book was perfection from page one. All I want to do is sit down, start from the beginning and experience the awesomeness all over again. I can’t wait for the next Kate Angell book!

Just look at this cover! It is so adorable! I can't help but feel happy by just looking at it.
And the cover wasn't the only thing that made me want to read this book.
The premise sounded promising too.

That had it's impact, so I went into this book with my expectations higher then usual.

I can see why some people would love this book.
Unfortunately, I wasn't one of those people.

In my opinion this book is written only for real dog lovers.
Please don't take me as a dog hater, because I do like dogs. I think they are really inteligent and faithful beings and can make one's life really happy.
It's just that I am not head over hills when it comes to dogs.

Maybe true dog lovers will understand this novel's characters' behaviour, but in my eyes, they were obsessed with their dogs too much for my taste.
They talked about Atlas almost all the time and they made their scedule based on dog behaviour and they were even making decisions based on Atlas behaviour.

There were just so many scenes with Atlas and some of them were cute, but with time they just made me nervous and too be honest I even felt bad for other three dogs because it was obvious who is the number one dog in Ry's eyes (that's the owner).
Atlas was just everywhere and when swoon worthy scenes came (because this is actually a romance novel) I wasn't even swooning. I was afraid Atlas will show up and even more afraid of what will happen' then (Do I even have to say Ry and Beth had to check if dogs are asleep to go and have some action??).

The plot was predictable but I didn't mind. Sometimes I do like predictability and in this story I welcomed it.

What I wasn't a fan of was writer's writing style. It was too detailed for my taste. I really don't care what Beth bought in the store and what dogs were eating everytime they ate.

In my reviews I always analyse charaters because character development takes a huge part when it comes to my rating.
In this review I will skip that part and say that I just wasn't impressed with anyone enough.

I recieved a copy of this book via Netgalley in an exchange for an honest review. Thank you Kensington Publishing Corp.

Talk about a well-written novel that’s a fun and light read which includes a bunch of adorable and fun-loving dogs, and sexy men that were so entertaining. The author does a great job weaving a tale of romance blooming between two people who believe they’re not the kind of person one would date and fall in love with. Kudos to the author as her story is of two people who meet, become friends, and eventually fall in love. There’s no instant “I love you,” or “let’s get married” after sleeping with each other for the first time. (Halleluiah!) Even better, there’s no angst. Instead, we have two adults who respect and support each other and have actual adult conversations.

Ry and Beth are two terrific and very likeable people, and I loved how their friendship grew to love. When Ry meets Beth, he hires her because “she wasn’t his type.” It’s only when Ry’s teammates’ show interest in Beth commenting how beautiful and great she is, how much fun they have with her, and want to date her, as well as all of the attention and respect she was getting from his friends and family, does he open up his eyes and his mind to see who Beth really is. What he discovers is a woman he finds attractive, inside and out, and one he’d like to get to know better.

I absolutely loved how Beth came to realize what had happened in her past was not her fault, that she did her best, and that she wasn’t responsible for those who paraded thru life with an attitude of putting on airs, always with a dark cloud hovering always above them. Nicely done Ms. Angell. So if you’re in the mood for some fun-loving romance, something to read at the beach or in the privacy of your own backyard, I highly suggest “No One Like You.” It truly is an enjoyable and feel-good read.

Side Note: I don't know what it is about this novel but I've read it several times since the first and I love it more and more each time. Have to change my rating from 4 to 5.

maybe 3 scenes with Atlas ( which is the coolest name for a dog ) were funny, but other than that... the writing is atrocius and nonsensical with a lot of descriptive prose that, again, made no sense. the story wasn't at all believable. one word that perfectly describes this is: jumbled.

I can't decide between a 4 or 4 1/2

Rylan needs a PA to keep his life and most importantly his dogs' lives in order while he is home during the baseball preseason. Beth is trying to move past the worst day of her career and needs a fresh new start. Atlas the great Dane, just needs treats.

I do love a good story around baseball; especially this time of year. This was an easy read, nothing earth shattering and lots of feel good moments. For once the conflict was not so horrendous that it drove the couple apart - they were able to work through it and move on to their HEA.

I myself do not have pets but I just loved how these dogs were such a big part of the story.

This is definitely a part of a series but it was a perfect stand alone too. I am so glad I listened to my friend Pat and got this read.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Beth had a life she was proud of until one moment ripped everything apart. Tending to her emotional wounds, Beth has made a new life for herself and found a temporary job as a PA for baseball phenom Rylan Cates. Beth was an event coordinator, not quite the same as dog watcher and secretary but she is willing to put her best foot forward.

With the help of Rylan's dog, Atlas, both Beth and Rylan find themselves forming a friendship and Rylan seeking out time with Beth aside from work. He knows it is not a line he should cross but everything with Beth feels right.

Is it bad the I may have loved Atlas the best? lol I really loved this story. It was sweet and funny and just plain good. It put a smile to my face to read it. And the best part ... everyone in the book had purpose :)
So if you're looking for a sweet romance with not to much angst and a bit of depth ... look no more cuz you found it!

This book was really good! I'm glad I read it because I didn't think it would be that great (yes, I judged the book by the cover), but I guessed wrong. It was kind of inappropriate given some of the risky moments Angell occasionally included, although that didn't effect my fondness over the story. The book was very capturing and funny, and the character development was significant. I definitely recommend for high school/college readers!

A matchmaking Great Dane, mischievous baseball players, a wise grandfather, beach town, and a new beginning for a woman looking for a place to belong. I’ve enjoyed a few of Kate Angell’s stories I read in anthologies, but I was eager to try one of her novel-length stories.

No One Like You is the fourth standalone romance in the Barefoot William Beach contemporary romance series focused on the Cates family and friends who come to this small, touristy Florida beach town.

Unfortunately, professional baseball centerfielder, Rylan Gates’ personal assistant is on leave so he needs a temp assistant for the eight weeks leading up to and including the spring season. His criteria include a competent person who can attend to his four dogs, oversee his home, events he hosts, and his schedule, but, unsaid, he doesn’t want anyone who temps him to mix business with pleasure. Hence, his choice of the short brunette who can fit all her worldly goods in the back of a battered PT Cruiser. If he’s not attracted, why does he find himself always wanting to be around his new assistant and annoyed when his teammates and dogs want to be with Beth?

Beth got the Cinderella experience without the slipper and the prince when her dad passed, her stepmom and step-sister were out in the open with their dislike, and a freak thunderstorm drowned the big society wedding she planned right before the groom got called out for cheating and named innocent Beth his partner. Yeah, she just wants to keep her head down, do her job for Ry, and figure out what she wants to do next.
But from the first, Ry’s behemoth Great Dane, Atlas, drags her by the leash right into the life of Rylan Cates, the community of Barefoot William and the Rogues’ ball club. Ry is an amazing man, genuinely sweet, adores his dogs, loves his family, caring of his teammates, and works hard to be a good ball player, but apparently utterly uninterested in Beth or so she thinks. When her job finishes, she’ll have to leave this haven that has become special from spending time with Ry’s dog crew, his teammates, his granddad, and that funny ‘this or that’ game Ry plays with her to get to know each other.
These humans are not going to strike out- not if Atlas has anything to bark about it.

No One Like You was one of those gently-paced slow burn romances dog-trotting its way through the laid-back life of a small touristy beach town.
Atlas, the Great Dane, is the central figure so dog lovers are in for a treat with this one. I’m not exaggerating to say that nearly every page involves time with the dogs or talking about them. I’m an animal fan, but wow, this one even pushed me to getting blasé about dog-focus after a bit.
Now, sports romance fans who expect a lot of on field action need to adjust because, in actuality, this book only has one ballpark scene. That said, there are the several publicity moments and team togetherness times for the ball players leading up to “opening day” for pre-season. I found these scenes and the funny antics of two of Ry’s ball team friends to be quite amusing.
The story introduced Beth as something of an enigma to Ry and his curiosity is what led to his attraction when he spent time with her. I thought it had nice suspense because of Beth’s secret about the rain-soaked career that messed up her life and there’s something about her family because of the way she is in awe of Ry’s warm and tight family.
The previous books paired up Ry’s siblings who make appearances in No One Like You, but it never felt like I was missing out.

The time with the older folks, the walk through the boardwalk carnival for charity art festival, the picnic, the beach visit and more were just the thing and each time this pair are together, they move that one step closer to something deeper particularly when Ry plays a little question game with Beth to draw her out.

An all-around feel-good romance with a little spice and a whole lotta ‘friends to lovers’ with a big goofball dog dragging them toward their happily ever after.

If someone asked me to describe this book in just one word, I think it'd be disappointment. Starting from its cover-and that saying goes both ways, I know- with its plot about a baseball player needing a personal assistant, adding to the mix his four dogs, I thought I got all the ingredients for a good read. And that was the problem with this story. All the ingredients were present, yet the end result was not tasty.

For a book whose hero is a baseball player, for starters, this story had very little baseball in it. Almost all the sports related scenes were skimmed over which is not something I'd like in my sports romance. If there will be no sport present, then what's the point of me reading this subgenre? I kept waiting for more details during competitions but unfortunately all I got was a summary and a pat on the head and thanks-for-coming-see-you-next-time.

Aside from my disappointment about the baseball aspect of the story, I can't say I was very pleased with the hero and the heroine either. The book, catching me completely off guard, started smack in the middle of the road. Yes, literally. Rylan and Beth had already met, though she wasn't yet his PA, but most importantly, and this I was looking forward to a lot, the dogs had already made a connection with her, grouchiness and possessive behavior and all. Yes, we witnessed further bonding, but I would've loved to see the initial hardship a little bit more.

And Rylan and Beth as a couple? Let's just say, two of the dogs had some flirting going on and well, their cute interactions interested me more than Rylan and Beth's. Yep. I'm sorry to say, the two didn't convince me at all as a couple. I didn't see any romance blooming, and even their passion wasn't as sexy as I expected. Didn't see the start of their friendship nor their relationship, and the friendship Rylan had with his teammates, that later included Beth, also felt forced. Many adult people acted like children here, mostly Rylan's teammates, at least those that we met. People acting like stereotypical man children was, needless to say, a turn off for me.

Unfortunately this book was a big disappointment in both romance and sports aspects, the characters weren't relatable, and we didn't delve enough into their psyches for me to like them. They were more like two people whose actions I was being dictated. And that was another problem that made this read a hard one for me. No distinct changes between points of views of characters that more than once I got caught off guard as to whose side I was listening to. The storytelling wasn't flowing as easily as I wished either. I wasn't kidding when I said I felt like I was being dictated the characters' movements because that was what happened. Hero came through the door, hero went into the kitchen, heroine poured him tea while they ate their biscuits. Just to give you a rough idea as what I read. It was a bumpy read.

Unfortunately I can't say I enjoyed my time in Barefoot William. I wish them all happiness in their lives-and agility when it comes to Atlas the dog- but I don't think I will be back there. At least not anytime soon.

This is one of my favorite books by Angell. When I started this book I knew this was going to be a read that I couldn’t put down and I was right. I stayed up all night just to finish this book.

I loved Beth and Rylan! I thought they were perfect for each other. Rylan hires her to be his assistant because he isn’t attracted to her, but he comes to find out that he is. At first he thinks they have nothing in common, but as the story unfolds he sees they are more alike than he thought. Little by little you can see how much she affects him and when his teammates start coming around he starts to see her as they do. Rylan is adorable when he is trying to guess Beth’s size when he is finding an “I’m Sorry” gift from Atlas.

Beth really doesn’t have any family, but the way she takes to Rylan’s friends and family is amazing, like she belonged with them from the beginning. The more time he spends with her the more he can see Beth in his future which was really sweet. You can tell she was more than his assistant even though it started out that way.

I loved how his dog plays match maker. Angell wrote Atlas perfect. I couldn’t stop laughing when he did the things he did like playing dead in the middle of the street, pushing Beth and Rylan together literally, and the way he acted with them both. He was the perfect family dog and just had a personality about him that you fall in love with.

Angell really brought this story to life through her writing. I do wish there was more baseball, but overall it was an outstanding read. It was a cute, sweet, funny story that will have you laughing out loud. I like that their love story wasn’t rushed and went at a pace where you can see it unfold from day to day. This is one of the best books I have read so far this year and it will be a re-read for me in the future. I can honestly say I cannot wait for the next book.

I have not had the pleasure of reading anything by Kate Angell before, I will definitely read her again! This book is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone.

Beth Avery is running away from her old life, and a failed event in her former event planning life. She grows from past mistakes and realizes where her true gifts lie and what events she has no control over. To get to that point in her life, she becomes a temporary personal assistant to Rylan Cates, a pro baseball player. This story takes place in Barefoot William, a sea side town that the Cates family pretty much owns. I would love to move to Barefoot William! Spring training is held in the small town for what seems like the first time. Which brings about many interesting characters from local artists, irresponsible baseball players, and down to earth, loveable Cates family.

Beth is an assistant, party planner, dog care provider, and cook to Rylan, his Lab, two Dachshunds, and Great Dane Atlas. Atlas was full of personality and helped propel the story forward. There is romance in this book, so as you can guess Beth and Rylan hook up, but their relationship develops into much more. Their lives unfold together on the pages as well as their relationship. The first love scene cemented the romantic aspect to this story, the rest felt a bit gratuitous, but left this reader still enjoying the overall story. This is a light hearted story that would make a great beach read, or quick getaway from reality. I definitely recommend to any reader considering this book.

No One Like You (Barefoot William #4) by Kate Angell is a fun, fluffy, novel with adorable dogs and a cute main couple who mesh so well together. This would be a great beach read. The interactions with all the characters, especially Rylan's teammates are a real hoot. Kate really hit one out of the park with No One Like You. An easy, breezy and sexy contemporary romance that's a home run.

No One Like You is very flavorful in regards to the unique personalities of the characters. Rylan seems to be very cut and dry and not overally emotional. That isn't too much of a fault because he connects so well with Beth and everyone else around him. He thinks first and then reacts. Beth is a lovely heroine with a very kind soul. The way she interacts with Rylan's dog makes for fun reading. Also the secondary characters from Rylan's baseball team are too funny for words. I hope they all get their own books.

The sensuality factor is more on the subtle side (PG-13), although the love scenes shouldn't disappoint. I loved how Rylan and Beth got to know one another very well before they jumped into anything. The ending is exactly what a HEA should be.

I absolutely loved this book. I lost a night's sleep over it, and would do it again in an instant. The writing is up to Ms Angell's always high standards, but the story is one of her best. I laughed; I waited; I smiled; I saw it coming ... I loved it. If you like sports romance, then this falls into the category, but it is so much more. Atlas, the dog on the cover, plays a huge (literally) role in the story, and contributes a lot of the humorous moments. But so do quite a large cast of team mates, and family; all emphasising the reality that Beth is alone, even if she is very soon adopted by them all. Both the leads have lovely natures, which was refreshing in a romance. There really was no angst - just a love story with some very chemistry driven moments!

Do yourself a favour; find a few hours of peace and quiet and absorb this lovely story. It will stick in your mind and cheer you up for days.

What happens when Author Kate Angell blends her Barefoot William series with her Richmond Rogues series? You get NO ONE LIKE YOU, an engaging romance with fun characters and a scene stealing Great Dane named Atlas. Rylan Cates was only looking for a temporary P. A. when he hired Beth Avery to help him get organized with his life. Beth was looking for a new start in another town after a failed event hurt her career as an event planner. Thanks to a matchmaker named Atlas, the two find themselves together a lot as Beth gets Ry's home, pets, friends and finally his heart where it needs to be.
This little gem is fun and light-hearted with wonderful characters, humor and charm. This is a perfect romance to read on a sunny summers day. Do yourself a favor and add it to your TBR list.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

The Players: Rylan Cates, pro baseball player and Beth Avery, a woman looking for her place in the world.

The Story: Rylan is looking for someone to be his personal assistant during Spring Training in Barefoot William. Eights weeks of someone taking care of his personal business, taking care of his dogs and keeping him on schedule.

Beth Avery is trying to find herself and is willing take the temporary job of Rylan's PA. If she can pass the dog walking test, which she believes she will fail when Atlas, Rylan's great dane, decides to take a nap in the middle of the cross walk.

The story rocks along and its funny how Atlas keeps pushing Beth and Rylan together. Playful bumps and nudges keep Rylan's hands all over Beth. Neither one of them sees what a matchmaker Atlas is, or his family and friends, until the end of the book.

Plot: Well plotted and written. Loved the humor, the dogs being part of the romance and how well his family accepted her.

Part of a Series: Barefoot William

This was the first book I read in the Barefoot William series and I LOVED it!. I'm going to have to go back and read the others now.

No One Like You begins when Beth Avery gets the job of dog walking assistant to the famous baseball player Rylan Cates. She's running from her past and will only be in town a short while. And Rylan has things he has to do before the new season starts and he leaves town. But these two never expected to fall for each other during their time spent together. Now, neither one of them knows what to do next.

This book was okay. I really enjoyed the whole plot line! It was very interesting from start to finish. And I adored the two main characters as well. They were both very honest about their feelings and other things and it made them much more likable.
The downside to the story was at times it felt a little cut and dry. Kind of like we couldn't really "feel" what the characters were feeling, but just reading them. That made the story less enjoyable, and a little frustrating. Other than that though I liked the whole book. It wasn't as good as the previous book though.

This was really sweet, really sweet. I kept waiting for some kind of drama or something, but nope it stayed sweet, and I liked that. I really liked that.

Sweet. That should tell you everything there is.

But, Beth has a past which consists of idiots. You are better off without the for sure. She gets a job as a PA. She is perfect for it.

Rylan is a baseball player, with 4 dogs. This is important to know cos the dogs and especially Atlas takes center stage. Yes and I do realise that in a short time I have read 2 books with dogs named Atlas, and me not liking dogs, do love dogs in books.

Atlas is a smart dog and thinks Rylan should be with Beth. She makes great snacks! But Rylan likes blondes. Oh Rylan, silly man. But everyone else, family and friends finds Beth sweet.

And then they lived happily ever after :)

I enjoyed it. The small town, his fellow players. The attraction growing between Beth and him. The dogs. Very sweet.

I have to say, Angell's writing style doesn't really suit me, personally. She likes to use a lot of extraneous detail, which really isn't my thing. I don't care what some tertiary character bought at a shop, or what a dog has for dinner. It's all just waffle to me. Details matter when they set a scene or a mood, but so much of what Angell writes is just filler. I can see why some people would like it - those little details make up life, after all. It's just not my thing. Then there's the dogs. I'm not a dog person, and one of the main characters in this book is a dog. These dogs get so much special treatment, it's beyond my comprehension.
Yet despite all these things that go against my taste, I still find myself enjoying the book. It's a nice, sweet bit of romantic escapism.

3+ stars. A cute but at times a little cheesy romantic story that included adorable dogs and a hunky professional baseball player. A nice, lite summer read for someone that needs a book they don't have to analyze too much.

Writing: This book felt like it was written by a 10 year old who is still struggling with sentence formation. The sentences were so short, it felt like the author had a bet as to how many full stops can be fitted into one page. The writing was dull and not gripping at all.

Story: The whole story line felt forced and dragging. There was no flow in the events. Most of the book took place in a week which felt like months. Each minute described in excruciating detail, with 5-6 word sentences.

There is a whole chapter of Rylan buying a present for Beth. He goes into a shop and buys two shirts for himself: significance to the story- none. He goes into a shop with his sister in law and buys a dress for her: significance to the story-none. He finally goes into a shop and buys clothes for Beth. The whole thing took 30 pages out of 800. 30 pages worth of random shopping which tells us nothing about the character, except for a peek in his taste for clothes. Then he finds the dress for Beth, which he sees and thinks ‘This is so Beth’. He met Beth 2 days ago. There is no lead up to this scenario. Why would he know what is or isn’t Beth? How many clothes has he seen Beth in - 2. And suddenly he knows what she would like to wear? And I wasted 30 pages for this.

There are pages wasted in describing the daily routine, EVERYDAY. Beth made hamburgers for breakfast for the dogs. Beth took them for a walk. Beth made lunch. Beth went shopping. Beth made dinner. Everyday. *sigh*

Beth- She is supposed to be this mystery girl who ran away from home. The mystery, she planned a wedding, it rained during the ceremony, everybody was upset. The groom said he had an affair with her without any proof to support his statement. So she sells her car, buys a new one and runs away from home. She is afraid someone will recognise her. And all the while the writer is trying make this into a huge tragedy and portray Beth as this broken shell of a women. What the hell? A wedding gone bad for a wedding planner is bad yes, but does it fall under a tragedy? I don’t think so.

Rylan- He is a nice guy with a size extra large in shirts. That’s it. That’s all I got from 800 pages of character development. There is no depth to his character. He loves his dogs, loves his grandfather, loves his family. *sigh*

The story is as bland as hospital food. Guy hires girl as his PA. They both fall in love. The end.

Just.. don’t waste your time. Sit and stare at a blank wall. That will give you the same amount of excitement as this book. *sigh*

No One Like You by Kate Angell is about Beth Avery, a woman in need of a fresh start who becomes the temporary personal assistant (and dog‑walker) for Rylan Cates, a pro baseball player spending spring training in the sunny beach town of Barefoot William. As Beth cares for his four dogs, including a boisterous Great Dane named Atlas, what begins as a simple job unexpectedly blossoms into connection, friendship, and maybe something more.

From the moment I met Beth and stepped into the warm, salty air of Barefoot William, I felt like I’d traded my real‑life worries for a quiet refuge. Beth’s uncertainty about her future, and her desire to find steady ground, made her approachable and sympathetic. Meanwhile, Rylan outwardly cool and career-focused reveals under the surface a heart that’s loyal to family, friends, and his canine companions. I found the way their attraction unfolds gentle and realistic: there’s no frenetic drama or unrealistic instant love, just gradual warmth that grows as they spend more time together. The presence of Atlas and the other dogs adds so much charm, their antics often bring comic relief and underscore how love sometimes shows up in unexpected, tender ways. The supporting cast of teammates, family members, locals, rounds out the world with kindness and humor.

This book filled me with a sense of comfort and sweetness that lingered after I turned the final page. It’s the kind of story that feels like a gentle breath of seaside air, easy to read, but still rooted in real emotions and believable character growth. If you enjoy romances that build slowly, are grounded in friendship and trust, and feature a cast you could imagine living next door, this is a lovely choice.

Rating: 4/5 — I’m giving it a high score because it captured the quiet, everyday magic of two people finding connection in unexpected places, and it brought a kind of warmth and optimism I didn’t know I needed. The only tiny reason I didn’t go all the way to 5 is that if you come to it looking for heavy conflict or complicated drama, its gentle tone might feel almost too light but for exactly that reason, it’s a joy for readers who love tender, feel‑good romance.

I've read several of Kate Angell's baseball-themed books, and each time I'm determined not to read another - after reading No One Like You, I'm definitely not reading another. My biggest problem with this, and most of her other books, is that the author seems to know nothing about baseball! It's one thing to create a fictitious team, but it's never clear if it's a major league team or a minor league team, I'm often getting mixed messages. But if it is a MLB team, are they NL or AL - again, it's never clear, and she has them playing teams they wouldn't be playing if they were one or the other. She also has no idea what team members do or don't do outside of the game. Would Buster Posey, Derek Jeter or A-Rod do any of the things the members of this team does? No! 1. they wouldn't have the time. 2. Rookie league, Single A, Double A - maybe? Triple A, MLB - No Way! 3. Teammates have lives and it's not all about hooking up randomly with women they don't know. 4. MLB players wouldn't be able to casually walk abound in public for their own protection.

It makes me wonder how much time has the writer spent with professional baseball players?

Then there is the romantic aspect of the book - hmmm - not very romantic, not very realistic, and if I wanted to know how to make dog treats -this isn't the book I would think to go to - but that's what we got. These characters were not likable, relatable or even realistic, especially the dogs.

So, if this author is going to write about baseball, she needs to do more homework about baseball - (as should her editors) Because there are a lot of women out there who know their baseball, and they will go somewhere else for better story that encapsulates the sport within a story. Let me know when that happens.

The phrase “Don’t judge a book by its cover” is usually accurate; however in this instance, I did judge by the cover and I was right! I picked up this book because the cover caught my eye. It looked fun and flirty. I’m so happy I did, because now I have discovered a new author to add to my reading list.

No One Like You is the fourth book in a series; however this is a stand-alone novel. Rylan Cates is a professional baseball player who has a hectic life and houseful of dogs. He hires Beth Avery to be his temporary personal assistant. His dogs love her and he’s not attracted to her, or so he thinks. Rylan is living in his hometown of Barefoot William for spring training with his baseball team, The Rouges. He is pulled in several directions as a team captain, grandson, and brother. As Rylan and Beth spend more time together, they realize that life has a way of changing you, whether you’re ready or not. Atlas, Rylan’s Great Dane, has a lot to do with the awkward positions Beth and Rylan find themselves in throughout the story.

This heartwarming story of family, dog antics, and healing is an excellent read. You can’t help but root for the team of Rylan and Beth. To find out more about their story, check out No One Like You.

Another fun read! Perfect beach read or Tuesday read. It was a slow burn of a relationship and it had you counting the pages till they got together.

Rylan Cates is a baseball player for the Richmond Rogues and he needs a PA. Someone to help out with house errands and walks his 4 dogs. Beth Avery needs a job and she knows nothing about dog care. So fake it until you make it right? However, Rylan knows this but hires her because he isn’t attracted to her. But as Beth helps out more than he thought possible, he seems to depend on her ideas and opinions. He eventually sees her a sexy creature she is. Beth always thought Ry was super hot and she has to remember this is a job she needs. So no fraternizing with the boss. But it gets harder and harder when he keeps touching her.

Rylan was a stand up guy, I mean aren’t they all? He treats Beth with respect and care and eventually love. I really did like his character and Beth was a typical girl to me. And I liked that as well. This relationship seemed believable. Friends turned lovers. The dream.

No One Expects a Curveball

For Rylan Cates, the gloriously sunny beachside town of Barefoot William may be home, but the pro baseball player needs to focus on spring training. Hiring a personal assistant to keep him and his four dogs organized for the next eight weeks is the first step--and Beth Avery is the perfect pinch hitter.

Beth is still looking for her place in the world, and a couple months caring for Rylan's two dachshunds, his golden retriever, and a Great Dane named Atlas should shore up her finances before she moves on. Except it's Atlas who won't budge, pushing her toward tanned, scruffy, sexy Rylan every chance he gets. One more strike and she's calling the dog out--unless she and Rylan admit that the attraction they're feeling is a game-winning grand slam

I also REALLY liked Rylan teammates. I definitely recommend this book . I loved it! It was perfect there wasn't drama which I liked there were things in Beth's past that affected her but she was strong and she was working through it and Rylan and his friends/family(includes pets) helped her feel like she had a family again(and she does). A MUST READ! <3 :D

A baseball player who is a perfect man with four dogs who are actually matchmakers; met a sexy girl who is also perfect with just a little mystery of her Cinderella past; and hired her as his PA. Everybody in the town falls for her. And they live happily ever after.
Never had I ever read a story as boring as this. There were so many pages which were totally pointless and with no reason at all. It was like reading a diary. Every single unnecessary thing was mentioned. And just so so boring. Didn't like the writing style at all. No comic relief. Just BORING.

This is such a cute read and I love it every time I pick it up again. It's got a setting that just wraps you up and makes you feel like you're in this cute beach town. A hero and heroine with so many sweet moments that you will be sighing. And one super adorable dog that is bound and determined for this pair to be together. I can't tell you how thankful I am that I can always come back to this book when I need it. No One Like You is a cute, summery, beach read that's also a sports romance rom-com!
