Lincoln Peirce is a cartoon artist from Portland, Maine. He lives with his wife and two children, and occasionally gives lectures to students about cartoon creating. Peirce writes the comic strip "Big Nate". Peirce's comic strip, Big Nate, is featured as an island on the famous children's website, Poptropica. Big Nate appears as the first cartoon on The Maine Sunday Telegram in the comics section.
He studied art at Colby College in Maine were he began cartooning. He also studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture before teaching art and coaching basketball at a New York highschool for 3 years. He currently plays hockey with "an old men's league" and describes it as his best sport as a child. In an interview with the Washington Post, Peirce stated that his last name is pronounced "purse" and is not a misspelling of "pierce."
Lincoln Peirce was a member of the "Surviving as a Print Cartoonist" Panel at the Maine Comics Art Festival with fellow cartoonists Corey Pandolph (Barkeater Lake, Toby: Robot Satan, The Elderberries), Norm Feuri (Retail, Gill) and with Mike Lynch moderating. On the panel Lincoln revealed he is currently working with some animation and licensing projects including the addition of a Big Nate island to the online game Poptropica.
After discovering my youngest child was fudging his nightly reading requirement (a cardinal sin in my house, as I’m sure you can imagine) by spending quality time staring at the walls or sitting on the dumper instead, I decided to take extreme measures and requested this ARC that we could read together. Both of my kids are fans of the Big Nate books, so I figured I wouldn’t have too much of a fight on my hands, but I still didn’t trust the little sneak to actually read it if given the chance to skip out and build a Minecraft mansion instead.
Let me start with the kidlet’s notes. He wants to make sure I give him credit for his contributions to this review so he can share in all of the zeros of dollars I make reviewing, so here goes:
1. The Big Nate books are FUNNY. If you have a kid who doesn’t like to read, they’ll probably still like these. Comics are much easier and more fun to read than just word books.
2. Nate is hilarious. He plays all sorts of different sports and thinks he’s really good, but he kinda sucks. He also doesn’t get along with his teacher and isn’t the best student, but when he gets in trouble it cracks me up.
3. I love the parts about Nate’s sister. She’s such a loser! And his dad is so nice, but he’s a dork. Poor Dad : (
4. It is so cool I got to read this book in December and it doesn’t come out until January. I’m telling everyone at school about this for share day!
So, there you have it.
You know what I found out after reading Big Nate? I’m raising him. Yep, file this one under “non-fiction/biography” because I’m pretty sure it was about my youngest.
Also? Big Nate can help you add some wicked “Yo Momma” jokes to your repertoire.
Lord give me strength.

'Big Nate's Greatest Hits' by Lincoln Peirce asks the question "Can you ever get enough Big Nate?" Thankfully, the answer is a resounding "No!"
Weighing in at 376 pages, this collection is huge. It does collect three other Big Nate books ('Big Nate Makes a Splash,' 'Big Nate Dibs on This Chair,' and 'Big Nate Pray for a Fire Drill'), so do take note of that.
Nate Wright is 11 and lives with his single dad and older sister. He likes playing sports, is good at cartooning, but is not the brightest kid in school. We see his struggles with girls, his nemesis teacher, his older sister, all of which seem to be instigated by Nate. Throughout the book are cartoons by "Nate" which feature his characters like Doctor Cesspool, Dan Cupid and Hollywood stuntman Moe Mentum. He also draws cartoons featuring Abe Lincoln and Pablo Picasso. He's obsessed with Cheeze Doodles, the new girl in town, and trying to get away with not turning in assignments.
I loved collections like this when I was a kid, and I still do as long as the comics are funny, and these are. This takes me back to all those collections of Peanuts, Garfield, and Nancy and Sluggo I remember reading. The dailies are in black and white, but the Sundays are in color. All are presented one strip per page, so this represents over a year's worth. I had a great time reading this.
I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this great collection of comics.
Big Nate's Greatest Hit's is another big hit from Lincoln Peirce. The kids are going to love this book! I know mine did. I have found, while helping in a middle school library and in a elementary school, that kids of many ages love Big Nate. The humor is tasteful, and you feel like you are reading the Sunday comics a little at a time. You can sit and read the book over days, or you can read it all in one sitting. Whichever way you choose to read this new addition to the Big Nate collection it is a keeper. I received a free copy of this book in return for my honest opinion. I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.
A summary of the book was that it was about how Nate ended his school year, about his whole summer, and it had everything from his next entire school year. I thought this book was a cool book because it was humorous and it also had lots of pages! I gave it a 5 star because I liked the book and thought it was funny. I believe there was no theme to this book because it is a graphic novel, but if there was, it would be to stick with your friends and help them along their way of life.
Once again Big Nate, the beloved sixth grader is back with all his buddies. Follow Big Nate through his days at school, during summer vacation, at games, and at home. Naturally, as you read you find tons of Big Nate interactions with others so well known in his world, though some actions don’t turn out quite the way Big Nate envisioned/hoped they would. This is a book chuck full of Nate at his best, with his best friends and would-be not friends helping and egging him along in life. I have been a Big Nate fan for years, devouring all his books as well as his daily comic strip. This book presents Big Nate at his best and funniest. This is one more outstanding compilation of Big Nate, and I am certain all Big Nate fans will enjoy this book. Watch him maneuver through life, while chuckling and/or laughing out loud at his antics. To those who may not have discovered Big Nate yet, I recommend you also read this book. I am sure it will make you a Big Nate fan. It is well worth the time and effort. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.
This book is thicker than the usual and has more of Nate’s comics. You will meet new characters in Nate’s comics. Some are good but Moe Mentum, The Hollywood stunt man is pretty boring. This big book covers many events like summer school, back to school, Halloween and Christmas. As usual, the teachers in his school are rather funny and I couldn’t stop laughing inside when Mrs Godfrey is present. And Nate managed to land a girl in this one.
It is a book. It is a bigger book. I have said book. Nate is a boy. Teddy is a boy Jenny is not a boy Jenny hates Nate. Nate likes Jenny. Nate hate Gina. Gina is not a boy. Gina hates Nate. Nate hates Arthur. Arthur is a boy. Now Nate likes Arthur. Nate likes dog. The dog is a boy. The dog is dumb. Dog likes Nate.
Once again a great compilation of Big Nate comics. Nate gets a girlfriend in this once which is a nice change of pace. Someone borrowed this book from me in 2014 and never gave it back so I'm glad I got to re-read it. Not a fan of the comics Nate makes within the book since it's a different feel of comedy. Overall good book and addition to the series.
The character in the book I most connect to is Nate. I connect to him most because he is very competitive and artistic. Also because he has a sister and they argue a lot.I connect to that because I have an older sister and we argue over small things just like they do.My favorite part of the book is when Nate finds out his girlfriend is a better artist then him.
Big Nate books are fun. A humorous look at a sixth grader's life. School, family, friends and sometimes girlfriends. there's a new girl in town and she falls for Nate in this book. Fun to see how he thinks about things differently when in a relationship. Of course he's Nate so he drives himself and everyone around him a bit crazy. Growing up with Nate, in his little world is a joy.
This is a really funny great book that is just looking back on a few other nate books, and I really enjoyed reading it. big nate is not any smarter and just as enjoyable, though it is suprising the he ---- - ----------. I suggest it to anyone who enjoyes graphic novels.
At the beginning big Nate and his friend were playing monopoly and big Nate is know for being a champion at monopoly.Next big Nate and his friends want to bring their band back together. But at the end the band doesn't really work out
I like when he dates Abby Wilson and they break up in 5 minutes. I like when he blows gum all over his face during a baseball game. I like when Nate dates Angie. I like when Nate and Angie dress up as cheez doodles and then they put them together to make a heart.

I liked the book, the writing was a little smaller on this one. I loved the younger tone you gave nate in his animation and did an amazing job illustrating.
