Holy-Cow....*WOW*....*WOW*....*WOW*!
My husband said to me...."Teas-and-Books", "You must be in fusion-heaven"! YES!!!! Two of my favorite things: *Books-and-Teas*!

Thirteen years was the start of my 'personal' 'tea' obsession. Every Saturday for approx. 8 months --I visited Michaelangelo -(new to the Bay Area), from Italy -for a personal well-being session in his zen room --(body-mind-spirit-therapy). I was Michaelangelo's first, last, and 'only' female client. He serves the Male Gay Community. My Saturday sessions were 3 to 4 hours long. I treasured these sessions --and the teas we shared.
Meditation and 'teas' were always part of the sessions.
Michaelangelo had 'hundred's' of loose teas from around the world. He taught me how to select teas, and different methods of brewing.
I later took my friends on 'tea-field' trips. I still enjoy brewing teas for our friends...and pass on things I've learned. I continued my 'tea' education from an older couple from China who own their own very authentic tea store.

Our 'AUTHOR' --has opened my eyes to an entire new way of looking at teas. I've 'heard' of cooking with teas...(but I haven't done it myself). I'm pretty good with a French Press, making myself and others a killer yummy cup of tea (light, medium, or strong), --and other styles of brewing....but I've yet poach foods with teas --etc.

Reading Annelies Zijderveld's book "Steeped" is WONDERFUL!!! She spent 14 years -writing this book in her 'head'. She has a masters in inter-cultural studies....but I think she really is being humble: She has a Ph.d in TEA MASTERY!!!! She is sooooo inventive with teas.

This is very special book using infused teas in recipes the author has 'created'. Delicious mouth-watering-sounding recipes. My husband has already picked out a few he wants me to make him: Rainbow salad with smoky chickpeas, cauliflower steaks with tea Umami Sauce, Green tea guacamole with grapefruit toast.
For a yummy dessert: Matcha teaffogato with toasted coconut ice cream!

She also shares what she is a 'fan' of and what she is not. (less a fan of herb tea, lacking astringency,.....'more a fan of black tea for 'drinking'). Cooking is different: herbal Tisanes work well.
Loose tea is preferable over bagged teas. (I agree). However, I don't 'always' need to be a 'tea' snob. lol Tea 'bags' have improved in recent years, too!

For those with less 'tea' knowledge --you can read about Tea cultures from different countries, different types of teas, methods of cooking...(its really interesting).

**Proper teapots**: I have several different types --depending on what type of tea I am making. I use a small clay pot for certain black teas. The author talks about this also...
Plus she talks about other various 'tea' pot choices and tea tools. (a spice grinder is handy), etc.

She outlines for us 'which' teas pairs best with different types of food -for cooking.
For example: Jasmine tea pairs nice with melon, citrus, and bittersweet chocolate.
Morraccan Mint pairs with savory and sweet foods.

The pictures in this book are LOVELY!!!!!!!!! (colorful cups of teas, and delicious food recipes)

A great book to own for people with an interest in TEA...(newbies and oldies).

Great gift book!

CHEERS to Annelies!!!! Such a incredible book she has put together!!!

Thank you to the publishing company and Netgalley!

I love tea. I drink it pretty much daily. However, my love of tea is nothing compared to my girlfriend's obsession. She collects all things tea related, from drinking it, to books, to tea cups and wall art. I love to cook, and she loves tea, so I thought that this book would be perfect. It's not a cookbook I'll be running out to buy anytime soon, but there are some pretty good recipes in this book.

Steeped starts with a helpful introduction to tea, what teas are featured in the book, how to cook with it, as well as what equipment you'll need to most effectively use this cookbook. At the end of the book, there's also a section for further tea resources (such as where to buy them) as well as measurement conversions.

The recipes in this cookbook are sorted into time of day menus, which makes it really lovely and easy to plan a full tea spread of treats. There's a nice combination of sweet and savory recipes in here, making for a nice variety of different dishes.

The pictures that are included in this book are well done, but there weren't nearly enough for my liking. I like having visual references to what I'm making, and this book was lacking in them. I also wasn't aware of the fact that this book is vegetarian. Most of these recipes are easily adaptable, but I love me some meat and I was looking forward to looking on how to cook meat with teas as a complement, but I didn't get any of that in this book. The instructions are very descriptive, but are written in a more paragraph-like style so it's a bit harder to follow. Cooking with tea is rather involved as it turns out, and I wouldn't recommend this to those who aren't regulars in their kitchens.

Some of the dishes that I'd like to try from this book include Fresh Fennel Lychee Spring Rolls with Black Tea Dipping Sauce, Green Tea Noodles in Asparagus Sauce with Goat Cheese Pearls, and Mini Cherry Cream Pies with Sweet Tea Glaze.

All in all, I'd recommend this book to vegetarians, lovers of tea, and those who are more confident with their culinary prowess.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review. This review can also be found on my blog, Bitches n Prose.

Inspiring new menu for Tea Lovers. This book is organized into groups such as low tea, sweet tea, etc. and is perfect for someone looking to throw a tea party, owners of a tea shop, or tea themed bridal shower for example. The dishes are somewhat involved, making it unlikely that any of them would make it into regular rotation in our house. The photos are wonderful and the introduction explaining the origins of different types of tea and how to properly brew were very interesting. The trend to use tea in cooking is certainly popular now and this book seems timely to me. I think that cookbook collectors will be happy to add this one to their collections. I received a copy of the book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

There is no doubt in my mind that this book is going to end up under my Christmas tree next year. I'm one of those people who while flipping through the book was already thinking of what teas I'd use rather than the standards used by the author. Many of the recipes sound delicious, and those that are given pictures look delightful - but why aren't they all shown? And while I know how fine to grind for cooking to make it into a spice, many people don't -- that would have definitely benefited from a picture as well.

Four stars would have been given if all recipes had been pictured. A large thank you to the publisher for allowing me early access to this title in Netgalley.

If you love tea and like cooking then this is the cookbook for you. The recipes are broken down into time of day you would eat the food. Every recipe has a tea component that most of the time needs to be made before you can start prepping the food. I didn’t make any of the recipes in the book but I was tempted as I was reading it. There is good info in here about water temperatures to brew certain types of tea without making them bitter. A lovely gift book for someone that likes cooking and has a passion for tea.

The book had a brief and standard intro about teas and though I may not try many the recipes in this book, I can appreciate the work and though behind this publication. I thought the ideas were pretty creative and helped me achieve what I sought from this book. It helped me kickstart my own brainstorming process.

A nice book dedicated to tea lovers filled with how to steep properly, descriptions of the variety of teas and enticing recipes.

The writer successfully shares her passion for tea in this little gem. A food blogger and enpassioned tea enthusiast, the author explains how her love of tea began. Several years of passion, experimentation and love has created this cute cookbook.

The recipes are fresh, exciting and modern. Although, the recipes are easy even for a novice, these recipes are designed for special occasions as most cooks would find making their own mayonnaise, for example, overwhelming. For someone, like myself, that enjoys making things without using packaged products, this book is that delightful.

Beautiful photography! I realize food photography can be very expensive, but more pictures would have been delightful.

As a foodie and an avid tea drinker (4-6 cups a day), I was thrilled to find this cookbook that uses tea in its recipes. I sat down with a cup of mulled black tea and oohed and ahhed over the scrumptious sounding recipes. It is beautifully laid out and I love how it is divided into different "teas" throughout the day.

I would love to go to a cafe, have tea, and eat anything from this book. I, however, do not feel I have the capability to produce anything close to the items pictured. A few of the recipes have ingredients such as green tea vinegar that take 2-4 weeks to make! I'm afraid I don't think that far in advance in meal preparation. Nevertheless, the recipes are inventive and I would love to try them- if someone made them for me.

This book was amazing. The recipes were so creative, and they made me so hungry just looking at them. My favorites that I'll definitely try were the New Orlean's Sweet Tea, Sweet Tea Jelly, and the Creamy Broccoli Soup. I loved the additional resources section in the back and the metric conversions chart. The pictures were flawless. There really isn't anything bad about this book and I'm considering getting it for part of my mom or sister's birthday gift this year.

I was fortunate to get an advanced reader copy of this book and I also was a recipe tester for two recipes.
The book is beautiful. The pictures are enticing and I can hardly wait to try more recipes from this book. I love to cook but have done very little with tea. (Serious coffee drinker) I do however love the "idea" of tea and tea time so
I will spend some more time with this lovely book and sip tea while I decide which recipe to try next.

I recieved a galley copy from the publisher. I really enjoyed this cook book. It's well written and interesting, and the recipies are unique. I'm especially fond of the preserve/jam recipies as well as the teabbouleh thus far. A great book for those who love cooking and want something unique. This would also be a fantastic gift for the chef in your life.

This book is simply gorgeous. Pulling it out of the box felt like a gift. The author's gorgeous prose (she's a poet, too) plus the incredible book design combine to make this the perfect gift book, especially for Mother's Day! The recipes are super-inventive. Many are gluten-free and vegetarian. Highly recommended.

A recipe book for tea-infused cooking. A number of the recipes seem rather fiddly or beyond my (basic) skill level, but there were still a few recipes I'm keen to try out.
