My love for reading developed at an early age. My parents, Daniel and Gwendolyn Odidison, were both avid readers and encouraged me to read as much as possible. Trips to the public library were the highlight of my week and by the time I was in junior high I was reading everything from biographies to suspense to True Confession magazines!
I got my big “break” when I was only fourteen-years-old. I read my first poem at my local church and received a standing ovation. Reading my poems and seeing my plays come to life on stage proved to me that I had a God-given talent for the written word. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Education, I hugged my family goodbye and boarded a plane for Seoul, South Korea. I loved every minute of living in Seoul. The people, the food, the culture, the shopping. Three years later, I returned home with a fresh outlook on life and a gorgeous fiancé (yay me!) Jean-Claude and I married, settled into our new home and now have an adorable, three-year-old daughter named Aysiah who keeps us very busy.
I penned my first novella while teaching in South Korea and upon the advice of a good friend and colleague I transformed, Other People’s Business, into a full-length novel. I wrote The Trouble With Luv’ soon after. Two years and thirty rejection letters later, I signed with super-agent Sha-Shana Crichton from Crichton and Associates. Six weeks later I had a two-book deal contract with Harlequin’s African-American Romance line, Kimani Press.
Her Kind of Man, and Love T.K.O. were both released in ’08, and this year there are more scintillating stories to come. I’ve written seven books now, but I feel like I’m just getting started! A huge thanks to all of you who attend my book signings, send me I-love-your-book-emails, leave messages on my Facebook page and who are recommending my books to other die-hard romantics. Sage Collins and Marshall Grant will heat things up in Games of the Heart (August 2009) and a feisty PR Director and a fine, ex-NFL running back rekindle the flames in Passion Overtime (November 2009). Read an excerpt of my novels under the heading Books.
If you enjoy a good romance story, rich with desire, scorching HOT love scenes and a few unexpected twists and turns along the way, you’ve come to the right place. Grab one of my books, recline in a comfy chair and enjoy the ride! I guarantee you’ll love the heroes and heroines featured in my stories. They’re strong but flawed men and women who are just looking for a little love and tenderness! That’s all for now, friends. Happy Reading and be blessed!
The romantic cover captured me immediately and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book! It's been years since I read a contemporary romance with a race car driving hero (the last was Overheated by Barbara Dunlop) and a while since I read a multicultural romance.
Sharleen had me cracking up at times with some of her internal one-liners. As a fellow crocheter, I LOVED that she crocheted as well (we don't get many crocheting heroines in romance these days)! I would have loved to see her make Emilio something. I liked how her determination (although blowing off her uncle's retirement party to one-up her office rival with Emilio did raise an eyebrow) turned to a desire to help Emilio through his pain. Emilio himself reminded me of the "Beast' inspired hero from Christmas Belle. In fact, I kept imaging Nicholas Gonzalez as I read the book! Emilio's icy demeanor comes from the crippling guilt he felt from the death of his nephew. He's a man who feels deep and I liked seeing his progression as he allows himself to fall for Sharleen as they both overcome past tragedies.
Although I enjoyed reading Seduced by Mr. Right, there were a few things I didn't like as much. Since I dove head first into sweeter/clean romantic reads, I tend to lean more toward emotional reads that tug at my heart strings rather than the physical descriptions trying to turn me on. One thing that bugs me about HQN Kimani books is they tend to lean toward more lustful attraction than romantic which, in my opinion, makes the characterization suffer a bit. The moment Sharleen sees Emilio she goes into full on TMI lust mode and Emilio sees Sharleen again he's already growing hard. I would have loved to have read more about their hearts and emotions especially as Emilio's heart began to melt and Sharleen's interest grows. I tend to prefer emotions fluttering rather than body parts reacting and appreciated their characters independently (which made them stronger characters) rather than whenever they were together. The former makes me think the couple is in a fly by night relationship rather than something romantic in the works and I want that dreamy, fall-in-love-, swoony feeling! :-) Books that can balance the sensual with emotion are hard to come by these days, but I love it when the story achieves that sweet spot. Sadly, this couple tipped too far in the opposite direction for me as I wanted more sweet and romantic moments like the scenes during their outing at the convention. It could just be me not connecting with Kimani books as this seems to be the SOP, especially since I noticed it in the last Kimani book I read, but readers of the line may come to expect and enjoy it.
I also wished Emilio stood up for Sharleen and told Brad off. I especially wanted this since he meets him in the scene after we find out the horrible things Brad is doing to women in the office. I was hoping for a major slamdunk comeuppance to put Brad in his place and Sharleen to help Jocelyn get her life back together, but most of the money shots directed at Brad stayed in Sharleen's head. For instance, she thinks "Brad was a jerk, nothing more than a bully in an Armani suit, and she’d had enough of his self-righteous behavior." I wish she'd have said this and mentioned blackmailing his clients (and sexually harassing the other women in the office) out loud in front of the boss! Instead, the evidence of the harassment against the women is brushed under the table when his phone is destroyed. I can't help but wonder how the next women he encounters at his next job will be affected, especially since he's even more of a loose cannon. Sure he's going through a tough time with his family situation, but it doesn't excuse his harassment at the workplace. I had a hard time enjoying the ending after that.

Unfortunately this was just an okay read for me. I like for the heroes to really stand up for their heroines and Emilio didn't live up to what I wanted from him. Although Emilio suffers a terrible loss, blames himself, and suffers through a self imposed punishment by retreating from the world I just couldn't muster a lot of empathy for him. His character just felt a bit flat for me. Sharleen is supposed to be a self assured and confident woman who as a life coach helps others guide their lives when things get rough. I didn't really see so much of that, especially when it came to dealing with work place situations that should have been resolved better than it was. Sharleen had a lot of inner dialogue that didn't translate into any kind of real action on her part. SEDUCED BY MR. RIGHT is well written and I was able to read through it fairly quickly. However, I did not enjoy the story as much as I had hoped.
**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**
CONCEPT The concept of this story famous race car driver walked away from a career due to a tragedy, meets a life coach who helps him deal with his grief as well as show him, even he can find love. STORY A lesson in love? His life shattered by tragedy, Emilio Morretti stunned the world when he walked away from his fabulous career. The reclusive Atlanta race car legend isn't looking for redemption or romance when he meets Sharleen Nichols. But the life coach's infectious zeal for life is starting to make him feel like a winner again. Are they ready to trust their feelings and put the past behind them? Or will an exploding media scandal and an enemy's vengeful agenda destroy the happiness finally within their reach? CHARACTERS Ms. Yaye did a good job with character development in this installment. Readers fall in love with Emilio and the grief he harbors relating to his nephew’s death. Emilio loves hard and believes in helping his family. His assistance with his family sometimes borders on enabling especially with his sister, but his grief is guiding his actions. It takes his business manager/friend to step in and act as cupid to get Emilio out of his downward spiral. Sharleen Nichols is a life coach that is very dedicated to her career, but she is also dealing with a personal secret. Her attraction to Emilio is evident and once she agrees to work with Emilio, she works to resists his charms, but once Emilio sets his mind, he pursues Sharleen with a single-minded determination.
DIALOGUE The dialogue flowed and stayed in line with the book. The book will keep the readers engaged. STRUCTURE The structure of this story was fitting for the series with a brief mention of past characters and a cameo appearance by one of the Morretti cousins. OVERALL Seduced by Mr. Right was the 4th installment in Pamela Yaye’s Morretti Millionaires series and was an entertaining read. Emilio’s pursuit of Sharleen after their initial meeting was enlightening and displayed how as he was learning to deal with his grief, he found love with Sharleen. He knew he had to overcome Sharleen’s resistance and worked to show her she was the one for him. Although, his sister was a nuisance, Emilio had to realize Sharleen was not like all other women and was the genuine article. Sharleen wanted to maintain a professional relationship with Emilio but knew she was fast losing her heart. Overall, this was a good read.
What an amazing story...I could not stop reading this story. Learning to love and trust can be very difficult to accomplish when you have been hurt, but when you find that special one all things work for the best. Hope there is more to come for the Morretti Family.
Ok Pamela Yaye another wonderful book by you. I truly love reading your books. I fell in love with these Morretti Millionaires from the first book! This was a wonderful love story! I would recommend this book to read it was awesome. Thank you for sharing your story. May God Bless and Keep You and Your Family!
Great love story! Pamela Yaye has done it again! Love is a beautiful thing and the love that Emilio & Sharleen have for each other is AMAZING! I can't wait for the next book in this series. It seems that I fall more in love with this family with each story that is added!!!!
Just when I thought the Morretti's Millionaire series couldn't get any better...the cousins are just as romantic as Demetri, Nicco, and Raphael. I enjoyed reading Emilio and Sharleen's love story. As a life coach, Sharleen was hired to help redirect Emilio's purpose in life after the death of his nephew Lucca. Not only was she able to help him, he definitely helped her get over a personal issue herself. Awesome read and now I'm onto the next story in this series.
I think the only thing that frustrates me about your series is the abrupt endings. I'm always left wondering about the loose ends and plot beats that are unresolved in your stories. But now I realize that it's like dangling a fat, juicy steak in front of a dog on a conveyor belt: it's essential for the next book! I guess I'm just newsy, but I can be patient. On to the next book! 😁
This romance is a classic. Never give up on love. Emilio found love in all the wrong places and ran with his heart. Sharleen was a broken woman from her past but allowed Emilio in and she found the treasures of his heart. Sometimes we walk around with self-doubt but others see our heart. There is no time frame on grief, only that when grief knocks on our door either we go through the stages or we get blocked. Emilio was blocked in grief and allowed it to take over his life until this vibrant, happy spirit came and challenged the way he thought. I love a great love story. Bravo.
"This latest addition to the Morretti storyline is a compelling page-turner from start to finish. It’s most refreshing that the author put as much emphasis on creating noteworthy characters as she did on crafting a sweet romance" (RT Book Reviews, 4 1/2 stars).
I enjoyed watching Sharleen and Emilio fall in love. Emilio suffered a loss and walked away from his successful career as a race car driver. Sharleen, a life coach, is hired to help Emilio cope with his loss and get him to live again. Last thing Emilio wants is a life coach but soon finds Sharleen is fun to be with.
Pamela Yaye has written another Morretti Millionaire hit. This one involves Emilio Morretti, a cousin and race car legend. He's walked away from his career after the death of his nephew and is suffering from depression. Emilio's agent hires life coach, Sharleen Nichols to help Emilio's life back on track.
This has been my favorite book in the series the story flowed with pain, anger, and short comings, each could be felt as Emilro and Sherleen dealt with them. Antwan and the sister add just the right amount of drama
The cover is beautiful. Both hero and heroine were good characters, This book is a part of the series regarding the Moretti family. No back story needed
