There comes a time when you have to decide whether to grow old and lonely or to let someone change how you see the world.
I’ve always thought the first option would be less painful.
Emmett
There’s something about this girl I just can’t shake.
I’ve caged myself off since the day my wife passed years ago, only trusting a small handful of people in my life. Letting someone into my house and around my daughter is a huge step—especially when that person happens to be the sunshine girl I ghosted in the middle of the summer.
She represents everything I don’t want to acknowledge and brings out a side of me I don’t recognize, but I need the help and she’s far from a stranger.
But as time goes on I feel my resolve slipping, and I’m not quite sure what that means for me.
Heidi
I never quite know what to expect from the quiet football player.
It’s hard not to feel like life is passing me by as I spend half my days trying to figure out what I want to do with it. I’m 28-years-old and while my photography business is doing okay, it certainly isn’t doing well enough for me to move out of my friend’s house.
So when I get a call from the quiet, moody linebacker I thought I would never hear from again, I jump at the chance to spend time nannying his daughter.
It’s clear she needs me, but it becomes far more clear as time goes on that her dad needs me too.
I may not know my purpose in life, but I do know my purpose for the time Make Emmett Gardner enjoy life again, one step at a time. The only question is, when is it time to call a Blitz?
Anna Noel is a firm believer in writing what you’re passionate about, and two things she’s loved her entire life are sports and spies.
Growing up a huge fan of Baltimore Sports, Spy movies, and Fast and Furious, Anna got her start writing early, graduating from writing small picture books about her childhood Dalmatian to books about street racing, crime, and spies.
Her favorite authors growing up were Dan Brown, Iain Reid, and Kazuo Ishiguro. Although she writes in a completely different genre, she finds inspiration in their creativity and genius.
Anna’s life goal has been to help authors and become one herself. With entrepreneurship running in her family, she knew that she would do it eventually. As time went on, in 2015 Anna started selling plot lines to authors who needed a little help, and years later would expand her services to authors, eventually going full-time with it in 2020.
Anna specializes in slow burn romances, and is excited to continue both her Project Fallen Angel series and the Baltimore Cobras.
H/h meet when she's nannying his teammate's kid and they two connect on a vacation and share their personal lives. They spend time talking and texting until one day H ghosts her completely out of the blue.
She sees him again since their friend group overlaps and he hires her as his kid's nanny. Dead ex trope only works for me if the character is able to move on and fall in love. In this he's mourning his wife for the majority of the book and h keeps throwing herself at him while he keeps rejecting her and avoiding her. That was painful to read
I personally wasn't a fan of her doing all the work for them to get together while he's just there, doing nothing. It's slowww burn and they don't get together until the last 7 or so chapters and by then i've already given up. Sure, they had friendship but love? idk it was lukewarm at best, i just didn't get the feel he wanted her as much as she wanted him 🤷♀️
Safety - H lost his wife 6 ish years ago and H/h meet on summer vacation after the last season ended. i think both were celibate during the separation but no details given. h goes on a date with om after H's rejection but he comes to senses and cancels her second date and that's when H/h hookup for the first time. No manwhores, no virgins, H has had a few flings, no mention of h's sex life. No ow/om drama

I’m just so in awe of Anna. The words she writes captivate and speak to me so much. I feel a personal connection to all of her books for many different reasons.
Apparently I must read every Anna book in 24 hours. I don’t make the rules. I’ve smashed every single one.
This series just gets better with each book cause this was so emotional, pure and real and dragged me right into it.
Emmett and Heidi. Their story was breathtakingly beautiful. The story of grief, loss, heartbreak and healing. I was emotional from the jump all the way until the end in the absolute best way.
If I can convince anyone to do anything it’s to please read Anna’s books cause not only do I get lost in them, they help me personally cause the strength of these men and woman is something to be admired.
Juniper was my absolute favorite person ever. Her and Elara are the duo I’ll forever need.
I’m super excited for the next book. It’s gotta be Amara and Cooper. Love Island/The Bachelor inspired? 🤭
And this books does such a beautiful job of showcasing how hard it is to allow the possibility of hurt into your life. Grief isn’t a period of time. Or something that is just easily experienced and processed. It’s ugly and shows up announced and makes lots of noise even if it’s silent and leaves a mess.
Anna did a phenomenal job writing it out while maintaining found family in this group.
The girls?? I adore them so much. Little Juniper couldn’t have a bigger heart if she tried. And she was so aware of so much. And I just want to wrap her up in a hug of protection and never let go.
5⭐️ all the way around. I loved every second of it
I absolutely eat up Anna’s books every time, but something about this one. At 25 I truly feel lost so I relate to Heidi so much. This books was so emotional in such a good way. It makes you feel all the feels. I actually had pain in my chest at some points for Heidi, but couldn’t get myself to be mad at Emmett. I cried, I giggled, I had to fan myself off at one point. 10/10. These books keep getting better.
There are many fantastic side characters and found family, This is a very slow burn but for good reason. Emmett has a lot of emotional scars that he needs to work through, baggage. Heidi also has baggage, as her life was not at a place she was expecting. Their banter between Emmett and Heidi was so fun though, especially since Emmett is so quiet, so when they did it was fantastic. Juniper, Emmett's animal-loving daughter, was so fun throughout this book and provided the perfect amount of levity to the serious topics. Their love story was fun to watch unfold

Summary: Emmett and Heidi had a moment on their beach vacation with their friends this past summer, which Heidi thought at least would lead to friendship until he ghosted her. Now back to reality, Heidi has to figure out her next steps since her new photography business is not panning out as she thought it would. Emmett, realizing his daughter needs a different perspective in the house, asks Heidi to be her nanny. As they get to know each other better, their feelings become hard to ignore.
First off i would like to thank Anna for the opportunity to read & review this gifted E-Arc.
Heidi & Emmett Oh gosh! These two are just heartbreakingly beautiful 😭. They way they bond over grief is so beautiful and absolutely well written. Heidi my girl i absolutely just wanna wrap her up and hug her so tight. I adore her for going after what she wants but also for trying to find exactly what she wants to do in this life. Emmett my man. Oh my heart hurts for him. I absolutely love his ability to keep going after everything and making sure he can do whatever it takes to help his daughter Juniper. The way he puts her first always. The way Hedi helps him see that he can move on and live life for more then just existing and how Emmett helps Heidi see that even when you don't know what your doing you can find where your supposed to be. The way they support each other and open themselves up to be vulnerable and truly seen for who the are with out judgement is beautiful.
5/5 recommend this book. Anna did absolutely so well with this book considering its dealing with such hard topics and they way she handles it with such sensitivity and never overwhelming you with it all at once is so beautifully done. Her ability to pull at your emotions but still throw in some light heart humor and fun is well done.
I'm so happy to finally meet Emmett and Heidi's story! I loved it so so much. I knew I would love it but it was way better than I was expecting! Anna never disappoints 💜
Thank you to @annanoelbooks for the #gifted copy of the book.
"If I lived my whole entire life with the fear that the next person I open to will be tragically ripped away from me, I don't think I'd have much of a life at all."

Dani's Thoughts: I love this series soooo much!! There are so many fantastic side characters and one of the best-found family series out there!! Emmett has always been around but has been very quiet throughout the other books, so I was excited to see this book was his. This is a very slooooow burn but for very important reasons, because Emmett has a lot of emotional scars that he needs to work through. Heidi also had many things she had to figure out, as her life was not at a place she was expecting. Their banter together was so fun though, especially since Emmett usually didn't speak much, so when they did it was great. Juniper, Emmett's animal-loving daughter, was so fun throughout this book and provided the perfect amount of levity to the serious topics. Their love story was fun to watch unfold as time continued on...
This is part of a series, which I think everyone should check out, but can be read well as a stand-alone.

Overall I really enjoyed the Story evolving between Heidi and Emmet but there were some logic issues and some Major spelling and typing issues at Hand. I want to keep the review as spoiler free as possible but for example there is one chapter where the header says Heidi but it is written from Emmets POV or like he/she gets mixed up/used the wrong way around and also I think in the main part of the book the terms sunset and sunrise gets mixed up. The jumps in the timeline are sometimes a bit confusing.
The Story is a really Slow Slow burn love story whereas I would say the love Part Starts first at 75% into the Book. The Problems Emmet has are completely valid but they seemed to resolve themselves without and Major Input from another Person or event which seems a Bit unrealistic to me. Same goes with the problems Juniper (his daughter) has. Heidi is a nicely constructed character with a descent amount of growth during the book and very relatable feelings and situations she finds herself in.
The book has huge potential but I think it needs another round of proof reading and editing and it would have been nice if there was a bit more romance sprinkled in during the first 70% of the book.
💟 This book took me on an emotional journey, blending grief, healing, and unexpected love in a way that felt deeply personal.
💟 Heidi and Emmett’s story had a rawness that made their bond feel real from the start. Their connection, built on shared loss, was written beautifully.
💟 Heidi's strength in navigating her own path while also being there for Emmett was inspiring. And Emmett—his quiet resilience and devotion to his daughter made him such a compelling character.
💟 The romance was a slow burn, but that only made their relationship feel more authentic. Watching them break down their walls and open up to each other was both heartbreaking and hopeful. The emotional depth in this book was its biggest strength, making me feel every struggle, every hesitation, and every moment of growth.
💟 That being said, some parts felt a little drawn out, and I wished the side characters had been explored more. There were moments when the pacing slowed down too much, slightly pulling me out of the story. But despite these minor issues, the way Anna Noel handled grief and healing with such sensitivity kept me hooked.
💟 If you're a fan of nanny/boss romance, slow-burn connections, and characters who help each other find hope again, this book is definitely worth picking up!
ARC Review ✨ First I would like to say a big thank you to Anna for letting me be apart of this ARC Team! Rate: 5/5⭐️ Spice: 2.5/5🌶️
What to expect when reading When to Call a Blitz; -Single Dad x Nanny -Quite MMC -Outgoing FMC -Slow Burn
Okay this might be my new favorite couple for this series and was hard because I love them all but I think this one takes it!
Heidi & Emmett’s story took you on a roller coaster of emotions that ranged from happy sad, loving at one point you were just laughing so hard. There a story was just really beautifully written. I honestly really couldn’t get enough of these to their chemistry was perfect. I love the messaging behind it that no matter how old you are. None of us really have life figured out and that grief is okay and moving on with life is okay.
Anna can you please extend their story lol
Side notes: -Cake Sunday will now be a thing I live by -Stop it! The bend-and-snap lol

This series was is incredibly amazing and When to call a Blitz was amazing. Anna has a remarkable talent for creating deep personal connections with her characters. This book was emotional and pure and it just pulls you in from the very beginning. Emmet and Heidi’s story is about grief, loss and heartbreak, but it is also about healing. found myself deeply moved throughout the book because I could relate to the pain of losing a parent. Also the way that Heidi knew what she wanted from the beginning and she also wasn’t scared of calling Emmett on his shit. Also Juniper and Elara being best friends was everything and all the chaotic energy they brought to their parents was everything. The animals in the book had me in stitches, and I was delighted to see familiar characters from the old books and possibly even new ones. “When to Call a Blitz” is available on Kindle Unlimited, so I highly recommend checking it out! If you are looking for a cute cozy read that may or may not make you cry this is defiantly the book for you.
💜🏈 Also a Huge thank you to @annanoelbooks for the ARC!!🏈💜.
I am obsessed with this series. I have devoured every book and I don't think I can pick a favourite. It was great to see more of Isla, Owen, Brair & Leo and well as the rest of the girl gang. The friendships are such a strong part of the series. I can't wait for Coopers book.
Anna is the Queen of slow burn and this book is no exception but as always it is worth the wait. This was such a beautiful story. The way it dealt with grief by keeping lost ones near by talking about them and their memories made my heart swell. It made me cry several times but there were plenty of giggles as well.
Heidi and Emmett are so cute together. I loved that Heidi was honest about what she wanted from the start even when she was questioning everything. And I especially loved that she called Emmett out on his shit. I definitely related to her and feeling left behind.
As always the kids steal the show. I adored Juniper and her chaotic energy. Her and Elara are the cutest friends. The animals cracked me up. Theodore & the skunks were the highlight of the book.
I love a quiet but sweet man. Emmett is a BIG BOY and he’s daddy like actually.
This story did break my heart multiple times just because of the weight of what each of them went through like holy shit.
Heidi was honestly too relatable like yes idk what I’m doing either and I’m always playing the comparison game. Her fears and insecurities were soo valid but also girl ur perfect.
Emmett was such a sweetheart even when he was soooo stupid and his and Leo’s relationship really shined here. I am in love with Leo personally so I loved every crumb of their interactions.
Juniper was hilarious and too pure for me to even deal with honestly, I would love to have a daughter like her.
Everything about this series so far is amazing and I wish there were more books out not (Anna I cannot wait for Amara and Coopers book WTF is going on between them)
Wow! Heidi and Emmett are quite an interesting and delightful couple! Emmett is a grumpy, closed-off, widowed, pro-football player and father. Heidi is younger and having trouble finding her way in life. These two meet through friends and find a comfortable friendship until it's too real. Emmett and Juniper are the cutest "team" but they both need a little help. I know this is going to be a little more of a tear jerker for some as Heidi and Emmett both dive into the grief they bond over. I didn't find the book dark or too much emotion. I found it perfectly balanced and loved the characters. Once Heidi and Emmett find their stride they spice it up. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it. The author does give some trigger warnings because we all grieve differently and losing someone you love a certain way may make something less enjoyable to you.
"Chapters come and go. Stories end. The last page turns. But some stories are forever."
When the book is both an ode to the character's late wife and to the universe (maybe even her) bringing exactly who the other needs when they need them...you read the whole thing in one sitting.
I loved the way Anna Noel helped these two face their grief after years of pushing it aside. It wasn't too much that it pulled away from the rest of the story, but enough that you knew it was there for everyone and knew they needed to process it. You went on that journey with them and I just love when that happens.
These characters showed a different kind of strength and I just loved to see it. Especially when the closed off characters open up. Gahhh 🤌🏻🤌🏻

“I may not even think I deserve you. But I don’t think it’s a secret that I wish I did.”
Before I begin, I want to thank the author, Anna Noel, for giving me this ARC.
I liked this. My favorite thing about this book was that the characters had depth. They felt like real people. They had their flaws and imperfections. Heidi was so relatable and was written in a way that made me care so much about her. The book's pacing was amazing; it had just the right amount of yearning and fluff, which kept me engaged through the story.
However, I have to say that it was not perfect; I was annoyed sometimes with the characters, and at times it felt dragged out. It's not my intention to sound harsh; it's just how it felt for me.
When to Call a Blitz by Anna Noel delivers a slow-burn sports romance with a heart-tugging nanny trope. Emmett, a single dad still grappling with the loss of his wife, and Heidi, his daughter's new nanny (with a bit of a past connection), navigate complicated feelings and an emotional push-pull. While the story had potential, the slow pacing and repetitive plot made it a tough read at times—especially as Emmett struggles to open up while Heidi continually puts herself out there. If you're diving into this one, I’d recommend starting with book one to avoid feeling overwhelmed by the large cast. It was a promising premise, but ultimately, a 3-star read for me.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Anna does it again. I’ve been patiently waiting for this book and I really savored it. I didn’t want it to end. The amount of emotions, grief and GROWTH we get in this book really did a number on me. Both main characters struggling in different aspects and somehow overcome those struggles as individuals so they can be there for each other, just beautiful!!!! It was also beautiful to experience grief from the perspective of a child and watch her embrace her feelings.
This one really did a number on me and highly recommend!!

Emmett and Heidi have a connection but it’s not one Emmett is willing to try out. After losing the mother of her daughter he is fearful to enter a relationship and lose anyone else he loves. It seems this may be flowing down to his daughter and the need for a babysitter or the guilt of ghosting Heidi is growing. Once Heidi is a part of his daily life it starts to seem more and more apparent that there is more than what he is willing to admit and once Heidi tries to put herself out there he realizes he needs to blitz.
This was my first Football romance book....typically I am a hockey girly but Anna has convinced me that I should give some more footballers a chance to win me over.
Written in a dual POV this story of Emmett and Heidi was captivating and watching and feeling them overcome their grief, loss, heartbreak, and healing through it together was amazing to experiance. But Juniper in my mind stole the show she was so entertaining for me.
Great job Anna and highly recommend everyone reads this one
When to call a blitz is so relatable to anyone that struggled finding themselves. Heidi just wanted to find purpose in life and Emmett after losing his wife, never wanted to lose again.
This is such a great love story of loss, grief, healing and love. It made you feel all the feels in such a good way.
Emmett daughter, Juniper, definitely stole the show for me! Such a sweet little girl!
Can’t wait to see what’s next, Cooper and Amara?! I hope so!
I really enjoyed reading this book. I found Emmett and Heidi’s story very relatable. Not having read the first two books in the series. It was very easy to follow along with all the character characters from the first two books. I found through the book that they dealt with a lot of topics that are sometimes hard to deal with. I feel like and I did it really well. Honestly, it was just a very enjoyable book to read.
Emmett and Heidi are quite the interesting match up. It's so interesting to see how Heidi can get him to open up when no one else has been able to. I love the relationship he has with his daughter, Juniper, and all the mischief she gets into with her friend, Elara. Such a wonderful story. A slow burn, but worth the wait.
I knew I would love Emmett from the minute he was introduced in the first book in this series. The quiet, heartbroken, football player who finds himself again after such a loss was one of my favorite MMC’s in this series.
The way he and Heidi helped one another find peace in the pain of losing someone they love was so heartwarming to read.
Anna did an incredible job of showcasing so many emotions throughout this book. Every emotion was explained and handled with such care that it made you feel like you were experiencing it. The girlhood was my absolute favorite part of this book, they were so encouraging and uplifting towards each other. This wasnt just a romance book, there was found family, grief, acceptance. 10/10 recommend.
I love this story so much!! There were a couple typos but otherwise the story line was amazing. Grief holds a lot of people back in moving on in life and is scary because you don’t want to fill like you forgot the person but that never happens and I am sure they would want you to be happy.
I had so much fun reading the beautiful and sometimes messy transformation and growth of Emmett and Heidi's relationship! Emmett and Heidi were made for each other! When to Call a Blitz was full of adorable kid moments, heartbreak, healing, fun, sweetness and spice! I can't wait to see what happens next in the Baltimore Cobras series! Thank you Anna Noel for the e-ARC.
