Stand-alone. This is a classic. I have been meaning to read, just stock up on tissue!

BLURB:
Melanie Winters and Daniel Montgomery shared a love most only dream of, a love they believed bonded them together for life.

When their world is shattered by the tragic loss of their daughter, overwhelming grief and misguided guilt distorts the truth, and their relationship ends in uncertainty and unanswered questions.

For nine years, they drift through life, each unable to forget the one who holds the strings to their heart. In an attempt to escape the pain of her past, Melanie finds herself trapped in a loveless marriage, while Daniel loses himself in a career that means nothing without Melanie by his side.

Now, when their lives again intersect, neither can deny the connection they felt so long ago. But will the power that drew them together be enough to heal the wounds from their past, and will they have the courage to overcome the insecurities and fears that threaten to keep them apart?

Pulled is a story of attraction and separation, of destiny and duty, of a love so strong it refuses to give up even when all others have.

Wow, I am not even sure how to convey how much I loved this book, so I will start at the beginning. I started this as an audiobook, and I was just listening, going through Goodreads and then BAM! I was thrown the biggest curve ball and had to quit listening and switch to the book, so I could find out what was going to happen sooner.

Melanie and Daniel met when they were sixteen years old. Daniel was ten months older and thought he was too cool for his younger sister’s friend, until he laid eyes on her. Daniel and Melanie have an instant attraction, a pull to each other. This isn’t a case of instant love though, no Melanie and Daniel date for years through high school until tragedy tore them apart.

Nine years later Melanie is in a loveless marriage. Daniel has successful completed his medical degree, but has never moved on - he goes from one one-nght stand to the next. One chance encounter has the two back in each other’s lives, but they have so heartache to overcome.

This story is told from both Melanie and Daniel’s point of views. It alternates from the past and present, going from the day they met until things ended, and then the present of them coming back together. Pulled had me crying at the heartbreak these two must of felt as their worlds came crashing down at the age of 18. Then my heart was racing when they were finally going to meet again. This story had the perfect amount of twists and turns to keep you engaged and longing to see what would happen next.

As with all of the A.L. Jackson books I have read, the writing is beautiful and moving, it had me crying one chapter and smiling the next.

If you have missed this one, I highly recommend reading.

Pulled is a story that completely and utterly pulled at my heartstrings. It was an emotional and heartbreaking tale of getting a second chance at a first love, and surviving and coping with loss. AL Jackson’s writing captivated me. My heart beat fast, I found myself in tears more than once, and I felt my heart shatter for these two beautifully broken characters.

It’s been nine years. Nine years since Melanie has seen or heard from the love of her life, Daniel. After one catastrophic incident, she’s suffered alone. She’s remarried, but her life is tragically unhappy. She’s lived through the pain of loss, and losing Daniel, too was the final straw. She’s grown accustom to this painful life she now lives. Losing Daniel after everything else was never supposed to happen. They were supposed to be happy, to be together.
I missed him, almost more than I could bear. This was never supposed to happen to us. We were supposed to make it… we should have made it.
 photo 063d8a69-d536-495b-964f-b0e7ec83f8d6_zps86de7a2d.jpg

Daniel’s last nine years haven’t been much better. He’s drown himself in school, then work. Trying to stay so busy that he doesn’t have to constantly think of all he’s lost. But Melanie always finds her way back into his thoughts. He’s never been able to move on. One night stands, sure- sometimes, but Melanie is the only love he’ll ever have. He’ll never move past her.

When Daniel goes into a business meeting to discuss his new medical practice with his father, the very last person he expects to see is Melanie. But she’s there. With her husband. He can tell she’s not happy, that she’s been living in the same hell as he has.
Seeing her was like seeing a refection of myself, a mirror of my pain, my loss, my regret. A mirror of what stirred within me now- this love that had refused to die. She had found me. I had always felt her heart calling to mine just as mine called to hers, this power bringing us together once again.

Once Daniel see’s her again, he’s determined to get her back. He can’t keep going on like this. He can’t live without her any longer.

 photo cb568719-e80d-4f63-bb1d-23d64f565851_zps9da76ac1.jpg

Melanie and Daniel have a rare kind of love. It’s real, raw and true, pure and all consuming. They were torn apart by circumstances out of their control, and later by some terrible misunderstands. After all the years have past, so many things are different. But some things have stayed the same- they still are one half of each others soul.
“Erin called us soul mates, but I… I’ve always known it was more than that. It’s like we share the same soul, and when we’re apart, each half is looking for the other.”

Their connection is intense and beautiful. My heart finally felt happy the times they were together. All they want in life is to be able to finally be together and happy, like they should have been all along.

 photo 27fc5011-a163-4eca-87e8-4dabf47bb8fe_zpsc76eb573.jpg

It’s not all that easy. Melanie is living with an abusive husband, and Daniel has some complications of his own right now. It seems impossible that they will be able to fight all thats up against them and be able to be together, where they belong. But they have no other option. They can’t be apart.
“I’ll never let you go again, Melanie. Never. Nothing will come between us… nothing.”
I would destroy anything, anyone who tried to take her from me. Being away from her was no longer an option. She was mine, only mine.

“Never,” she promised again, unwavering, unshakable.

The amount of heartache and despair I felt was totally worth it when it was all said and done. It is such a beautiful and emotional tale of finding a second chance at first love and overcoming some seriously painful pasts. I am shocked to find out that this was AL Jackson’s debut novel. I am impressed! If you’re looking for a heart wrenching read and you love a second chance romance like me, I would highly recommend this one!

For me this book was a train wreck. First a few nice things to offer potential readers. Skip Pulled and go for Take This Regret by A.L. Jackson . 1. Take this regret
2. The cover is very lovely.
Now the bad.

The gushy phrasing over and over again

Like soul mate, part of the same soul, Feel her/him the connection, feel them near, knew they were in trouble close etc.
I'm all for a soul connection I am a huge fan of soulmates but please don't rub my face in it. Show me why they are such don't just keep telling me.

The easy way she puts characters in place just to move the plot along. Really the pregnant one night stand. Didn't see that one coming. Yes this is sarcasm.

The perfectly understanding parents and family. Give me a break yes you are only 18 and your 16 year old girlfriend is going to have a baby let us buy her a car and you will need a home so we will just buy you a perfect little home. Yes, the sarcasm continues. Give me a break.

The mean and controlling husband talk about a stereotype. This book is full of them.

I could go on but I will not.

The 2 stars are for the cover, the scene when Ava is born and the fact that I know this author can write, but Pulled, pulled me down.

I can't resist second chance romances. What could be more romantic than soul mates, ripped apart by life or circumstances, finding their way back to each other? And the eventual reunion? Makes me feel all tingly *dreamy sigh* Seeing that A.L Jackson wrote a second chance romance, I didn't hesitate to sign up for the Pulled blog tour because I am a huge fan of her Closer to You series <3

Nine years after losing her child and Daniel, the love of her life, Melanie is broken, unable to move on, and clinging desperately to the past. She's trapped in a loveless marriage, with her only real purpose in life to be at her husband's beck and call while appearing to be the perfect wife in public. Utterly alone with only her memories of a life lost to keep her company.

"The girl I remembered was seventeen - full of life and love. The one staring back at me may as well have been dead. The only life left flickered in the periphery of my consciousness where a familiar comfort waited in the darkness."

Daniel is every bit as broken and lonely as Melanie. Work is his life. Jaded when it comes to women, Daniel relies on them for sex and nothing more. Losing his daughter and Melanie ruined all the hopes and dreams that Daniel had for the future and now he is basically just existing.

But what happens when fate brings Daniel back into Melanie's life?

Melanie and Daniel's story was very emotional and I found myself tearing up on a few occasions. Seeing how deeply they were in love and going through the loss of their child and relationship broke my heart right along with theirs. It was easy to understand how both Melanie and Daniel struggled to move on with their lives, even after years had passed. While I didn't always agree with decisions either of them made, I understood how fear, guilt, and the overwhelming sadness stemming from their tragic past would lead to those decisions.

So if I loved the overall story and had a connection with the characters, why 3.5 stars? For me personally, there were a few aspects of the execution that I struggled with. I initially found it difficult to get into the story. There was so much focus on the past and how unhappy Melanie/Daniel are, that I found myself wanting the story to progress.

Final Thoughts

Despite the minor issues I had with this book, I thought that Pulled by A.L. Jackson was a beautifully written story with the compelling message that true love prevails.

“Erin called us soul mates, but I…I’ve always known it was more than that. It’s like we share the same soul, and when we’re apart, each half is looking for the other.”

What an emotionally intense rollercoaster of a book!

I read the whole book with my heart in my throat, either holding my breath, choked up, or in tears. My heart was literally pounding for most of the story.

Melanie and Daniel met when they were 15-16 years old and fell in almost instant true, undeniable, unstoppable love. They know unquestioningly that they are each other’s forever. Even when tragedy strikes and their lives are forces apart, neither of them can forgot the other. Memories and thoughts of each other consume them, not allowing them to move on or truly live without the other. Melanie ends up trapped in a loveless marriage to a controlling, abusive bastard named Nicholas and Daniel ends up throwing his whole self into his career, but feeling empty the whole time inside.

“My body trembled as all the regrets of my life washed through me, my heart feeling as if it were on the verge of failing. My soul cried out to her. It had never stopped its search for her in nine years, and I could still feel her calling out for me.”

But when fate brings them together at a chance dinner party 9 years later, the moment they see each other, they both realize that neither of them ever lost the love they had for each other and they will do anything and everything within their power to fix the wrongs that happened and be together again.

“Seeing her was like seeing a reflection of myself, a mirror of my pain, my loss, my regret. A mirror of what stirred within me now – this love that had refused to die. She had found me. I had always felt her heart calling to mine just as mine called to hers, this power bringing us together once again.”

Their big reunion was heart clenchingly beautiful!

“He stood above me, his body visibly trembling. “This is forever.” “

I loved the deep connection that they had. The pull they both felt for each other. The intensity of their love for each other was both gut-wrenching and absolutely beautiful!

The writing is beautiful, I really love this author’s style. She sucks you right into the story and into the characters minds and makes you feel everything that the characters are feeling. While I LOVED her other book, Take This Regret, I still did really really liked this one and am eagerly looking forward to whatever book she may decide to write next.

“I can’t live without you. I haven’t lived a day without you.“

Their story is told in the present day with flashbacks to their past piecing together their story.

I had issues with this story though. I didn’t like that the main reason that Melanie and Daniel were kept apart for 9 years was because of miss-communications and misunderstandings. It is kind of excused by the fact that that they were young, which they were (16-17 when the initial drama went down), but still, at that age I would have talked that issue or any other issue through with my guy. I didn't like that they let assumptions and someone else's words come between them without directly talk with each other about the issues.

Also, on another note, I’m not a fan of super evil bad guys who keep trying to break the main couple up, steal them away, or hurt them physically – something which both Nicholas and Vanessa did successfully. I can handle a certain amount of that in a story, but I felt it was a little too much here..

Most of the drama in this story resulted from the unfortunate results of pretty stupid actions caused by gut-wrenching grief, hurt and fear. I felt like even given all the horrible circumstances life threw at them, they should have handled the issues more responsibly.

This being said, the story was still wonderful, emotional and heart wrenching and I'm so glad I read it!

There is a HEA ending though , but its not quite the perfect fairy tale that most romance novels have. Its bittersweet, but still beautiful. And they do end up together and happy. This I’m saying because its a very important detail to me.

Here's how I see Melanie & Daniel:

I feel like somebody sprinkled me with water from the flower can and kept repeating "Cry,cry!Common! It's a tear-jerker book!"

Sorry, it just never got to me!

Also, there is just something fundamentally wrong with being happy over the fact that a random woman wanted to marry your solemate and got pregnant in order to do that, and in doing so subsequently gave you a son. The one you could not have because your solemate killed your kid and your chances of an other pregnancy by being a reckless driver.
More importantly , the author made the biggest cope out by erasing the evil birth mother from the future just like that, in a second. Not that I ever liked the birth mother or missed her! Just...ha, would have payed good money to see an author make the h and ha have a happy ending with Miss Obsessive-whore in the picture.

Daniel and Melanie were high school sweethearts and intended to get married until a horrific event occurred that shattered all their plans. Now, it's nine years later and a lot has changed.

The story is told in the present with flashbacks to the past. Thankfully, we get both their POVs because they are both pretty messed up.

I liked Melanie when she was younger and then after but not so much in the middle and that's pretty understandable. I really couldn't believe what she did with Nicholas! But I guess she had really given up hope.

I liked Daniel much better...for the most part. I was a bit shocked at how he treated Vanessa especially when it was his responsibility as well. And then when they came back from Tahoe, I was just shaking my head when he let Melanie go back all by herself.

The big thing that I had issue with is their "connection". ALJ tells it as if they are soul mates and they can "feel" each other...where each other is and even sometimes talk to each other through their spirits/souls. It was a bit out there.

description

But it did make things really passionate between them and I loved how much they needed and wanted each other no matter what.

There is definite drama but thank goodness for Daniel's family. I just loved all of them and when Daniel's Dad says "And then go bring my daughter back." - I just loved that!!

The story did have me guessing but I liked how things ended up. The last chapter is basically an epilogue and it was wonderful finding out what was going on with everyone. All I can say is "Karma, baby, karma!"

Wow I have absolutely no clue how this book has 4 stars. It seriously took everything I had to finish it. Everything about this book was predictable to me. It was ridiculous to think that after nine years of being apart, the main characters have changed none whatsoever since they were sixteen years old. I realize they are really in tune to one another but hearing a heart rate speed up is a bit overkill. How Melanie and Nicholas get together is arguably the most ridiculous part of the story. Though a close second is the idea that Vanessa would purposely getting pregnant by a guy she only met that very day to force him into marriage then run out on the baby. Really??!!

Once again Amy wows me with her addicting story and writing. I swear I don't know how she does it!! She's one of a few that can instill a million emotions at one time. Fucking brilliant she is!!!!! Gaaaaah, this book was hard to read at times-so gutwrenching and unforgettable!! I love her men she creates, they are so noble and heroic. I can't even chose which book I love more, Take this Regret or Pulled....they are both utterly captivating and spectacular . Full review to come!

Okay I am going to attempt to write my review because I have so much of this fresh on my mind. First of all, I love the cover. After reading Take This Regret, I instantly purchased this book in paperback. It is one of those books I HAVE TO HAVE ON MY SHELF. But honestly, when I received it in the mail this week, I was so ecstatic to delve into this because I knew without a doubt I would love it as much as TTR. And it did not disappoint!

Amy is one of the SWEETES, KINDEST, FRIENDLIEST women I've ever known. I've gotten really close with her on a personal level and we share alot with each other, not just professionally and writing tips but actual personal stuff. She is truly a wonderful woman and I am grateful for her friendship.

With that said, her writing really shows her passion and love for life and telling magnificent, albeit VERY hardcore heartbreaking, gutwrenching, sick-to-your-stomach emotional rollercoasters. Both of which I really enjoyed to experience. Yeah, I LOVE to cry to the point of exhaustion and pain and nauseousness. (Sick and crazy I am, I know) But really, what better kind of story than those that can pull out every single emotion that you never knew existed. What's the point of reading if you can't FEEL what the characters feel or go through? I mean sure there are those that don't go to that extreme and they are still really good. However, lately all I've been reading is the kind of book that takes you to the place in the back of your mind where you truly experience it. It's a rollercoaster you don't want to get off no matter the falls or twists or spins, even to the point of dizziness. Those are the most fun, enjoyable. Well, that's what I can say about this one. It was fun, enjoyable but also a kick to the stomach, getting the wind knocked out of you where you can't breathe. I couldn't breathe during a good portion of this book-mainly because I was utterly PISSED OFF AND DISGUSTED with a few characters. I wanted to bash their head in or cut off a certain part of their body. *shudders at specific scenes* I was utterly screaming in terror or just plain spite and hatred. Not alot of books can make you feel hate one minute then love and laughter the next. I felt dizzy and unsure what emotion I was experiencing at the time. I love her addicting writing. Love it so much it hurts. Now to my review.....

This book takes place in the present but goes back into the past quite a bit so the reader can understand what has happened. In nine years....Melanie and Daniel spend thier lives separate from each other after a tragic night that leaves them lost and broken. They hate their life because without each other, living makes no sense. After a horrific car accident that kills their baby and lands Melanie in the hospital for awhile, they must face the past when they see each other during a meeting with Melanie's husband about a medical contract that Daniel is in charge of. The only thing that kept them sane all these years was the pull that kept them together in spirit-yet apart in body. It was an energy so intense that when they'd go to sleep every night, they were together again and still in love as the day they met 11 years ago. They were set to get married when she turned 18 and they were ready to have a baby, but a drunk bastard tore their family apart in an instant and ruined the lives of two people so right for each other it killed them emotionally.
Daniel finished medical school and opened his own practice while Melanie married a sick fuck who treated her like a fucking whore and broke her down bit by bit. He hated the scars that showed where her baby once lived in her womb before she was taken from her and sent to Heaven and called her a slut and had the audacity to call her body worthless. He was the epitome of Satan himself, but without Daniel she couldn't bring herself to care how she was treated.
On the night Daniel and Melanie come face to face, their energy is so strong-remembering one another and happy to be united...but she's married. Though they have to sneak around a little before she is able to try and escape her douche bag husband, alot of old wounds open up as they learn the reason they were separated all those years ago. As they realize they were both misunderstood of the events taken place and their love for one another, they help each other to finally grieve their baby girl's death and are able to heal-together, rather than apart. Now they are determined to put their past behind them and rebuild what was once broken and shattered so they can have their future they always wanted 11 years ago. Can they survive each obstacle that stands in their way-determined to keep them apart at every turn?

Well, you just have to read this. I DEMAND you all to read this. If you have read Take This Regret, I guarentee you will love this one just as much. There is NOTHING Amy can't do. I swear this woman has a gift that goes beyond what words can describe. I cried so much during this book. My heart broke and shattered along with Melanie and Daniel's, placing myself in their position I could not fathom the pain and sorrow they felt. I was utterly sick to my stomach for the first half of this book, I could not eat in fear I'd puke it up. Amy has a way of creating characters so real and beautiful. I love Daniel, he reminds me of Nick so much from Sweet Gum Tree(another Must Read) and I love him so much! I loved that we got to see his POV and feel his heartache and voice. He's beautiful, gorgeous, heroic, chivalrous, sweet, compassionate and just downright amazing! I love Melanie, she was a wonderful sweet woman who really grew into her own person from a 16 year old shy girl. I loved seeing their past into the present. It made me love them so much more as they really grew up and became so mature and responsible. Their lives intertwined and never were apart-in spirit that is. It was a beautifful reunion. They were ALOT of sexy steamy scenes that just melted your insides and had me smiling from ear to ear. I found myself jumping in elation when they got close-then BAM.....they were going at it so romantically, passionately and lovingly. It was...captivating. I loved Daniel's family so freaking much. They stuck by him through the whole thing, always there when he needed them during the hardest time in his life. I cried for them, losing their grandchild and neice. It was devastating. OMG, I want to cry now thinking about it.

I hated Melanie's mother and father and husband. But it was her parent's fault they were apart in the first place. They ruined their daughter's life and then blamed Daniel for killing his daughter which they weren't happy about in the first place, when it wasn't his fault. I wanted to beat the Hell out of them for being so insensitive and heartless and evil. They treated Daniel like shit since they met him. At least his parents welcomed Melanie with open arms and ALWAYS treated her like family. And his sister Erin was her best friend, and I loved her too. She was a great sister to Daniel and was there for him after Melanie had to leave Daniel(against her will because of her threatening bastard parents). Ugh, I hated them so much! And then there's Nicholas. I won't go into that....let's just say you're gonna want to beat the fuck out of him for the things he does and says. OMG! He makes me angry and livid beyond repair.

So the moral of this review is to READ THIS BOOK. It's so worth the read. Its absolutely my top 2(tied with TTR, I can't chose so its a tie) read EVER!!!! Read it. You won't regret it. THOSE THAT HAVE READ TAKE THIS REGRET AND SWEET GUM TREE with me and LOVED THEM.......READ THIS ONE. I'm ordering you to read it. READ IT, I SAID. I swear, you'll fall in love with this story even though your heart will be shattered beyond repair. But we all know, these are my kind of stories. I'm just a sicko but what the Hell. Read it!

3.5 Stars. Why? Because throwing shirts on floors does not count as a sex scene. I did enjoy it, but it was very angsty and it was seriously laking in sex anticipation, which is good since there wasn't ANY. I can't believe I read a CLEAN book and enjoyed it, but I did. This writer reminded me a lot of Lisa Marie Rice, very heavy on the emotional. But take heed there was NO alpha male. It was hard to put down and satisfying.

I really do want to give this book more than 3 stars. But i just can not. The idea of the sotry of 2 souls beating for each other is very very beautiful and promising. Even though i am not confident with AL Jackson. I read her other book and i did not like it. But i took a five i to Pulled. Lured by the ths blurp.

And i am end up irritated. What makes ne irritated is the characters. Melanie and daniel
Both are claming a sould mate. More than sould mate. But the way they acted is very immature. Childish like. For example when daniel wants melanie to live with him, melanie backs out and prefering stay with her asshole husband. Just because she is so afraid of nicholas. What the living f@ck?? And on the top of that daniel agrees with her.

Good god! I groaned with the frustration. Isnt it they suppose to be 2 soul beating for each other? And daniel let melanie stays with nicholas?? Soul my a$$.

The only reason why i give this book 3 stars is to credit the writting. It is beautiful. Full of sorrow. But the characters do not build up.

I swear that if I ever read another book where the hero is so in love with the heroine and thinks constantly about her day and night for nine years and it is always her but he manages to have sex with a lot of women and even impregnate one because he went on her without protection, well, I change my gender and become a man, because I really want to be able to do that kind of things.
Another trash where the heroine marries an abusive ahole and never enjoys sex anymore while the hero enjoys a lot of ONS with different beauties. FY, honest, from the bottom of my heart, FY.
This is bs. Complete, utter bs.
Women don’t act like that and men don’t, equally.
I don’t know why authors keep writing this kind of bs that is, btw, the most absurd, wrong and false bias.
In a difficult situation women are those who have and show more resilience than men, this is shown when men kill their woman because she left him, while women never do it. Because we are stronger, we are fitter, we are emotionally more capable than men so it would be more sensible to write that a woman moved on and had several partners enjoying them while a man is unable to move on.
But I keep reading the same old shit.
So this heroine has all the short straws and the hero manages to have a kid with one of his ONS, since the heroine isn’t able to have children.
wtf.
Where’s the romance here?
Why should I even believe his love for her since he never tried to look for her, oh yes, he felt guilty because they had an accident and the heroine lost their child, but since the other driver was drunk and hit them badly, it was not even his fault and it was unavoidable.
There’s a lot of misunderstandings but what I couldn’t move on from are.
- the heroine marrying an abusive ahole and she knew it since the start, showing she’s weak and pathetic.
- the hero impregnating another woman when the heroine couldn’t have children.
I will never believe that these two are in love, their love is ludicrous, he lived without her for nine years and was happy with it, and she married an ahole for no reason at all.
Just no.

Make sure you have plenty of boxes of tissues available when you read this book. Pulled is a very emotional, heart wrenching read. It is a story about mistakes, heart break, soul mates, healing, forgiveness, and true love. You are drawn in from the first few chapters. Melanie is a trophy wife who is emotionally abused by her successful husband. From the start you know she misses the love of her life, Daniel, and that a tragedy happened that had separated them nine years before. Daniel, is a doctor who is in practice with his father, who is also broken emotionally from the pain he feels from missing Melanie. He tries to temporarily forget but can’t, he only wants his girl back and nothing and no one else can ever replace her in his heart. He has made mistakes, one big one that will play a major role in their lives and could heal or hurt their relationship.

I love a book where I can actually feel the emotions the author is trying to portray, and have a connection to the characters from the start. I was pulled, no pun intended, immediately into Melanie’s pain and heartbreak. You know something bad happened that broke her and her heart but not what and for me I just wanted to somehow reach into the book and hold her and tell her that it will be okay. You want to reach out and smack Nicholas, her abusive husband for the way he treats and talks to her. You feel the same sense of loss when you are reading Daniel’s point of view. When by fate they find each other again when Melanie’s husband is trying to get the contract to build Daniel’s new building you already start routing for them to begin to heal, but it is never that easy. Enter Vanessa, she is pregnant with Daniel’s child after trying to trap him into a relationship that he doesn’t want, she is like a bad rash that just doesn’t go away. She refuses to take the hint that Daniel doesn’t want anything to do with her and really doesn’t want the baby either.

The struggles that Melanie and Daniel go through, not just to be together but to heal, is heart wrenching because you learn how strong their relationship was from the moment they first met and you know that they are soul mates in the truest meaning of those words. They have this connection that can not be described, they are pulled to each other by a force stronger than can be explained in words. The heartbreak that they go through, and when you find out what that was, you are in awe that they are even functioning especially apart when they needed to be together. You can begin to feel the healing of their hearts and souls from the moment they reconnect and promise their love to each other once again. Forgiveness plays a huge role in the healing and reconnecting of their hearts and souls. When Melanie suffers the last time at the hands of Nicholas, you think it can’t get any worse for their relationship, that is, until Vanessa gives birth to her and Daniel’s son. The events that happen after that are the final steps in the healing of their wounds, the ones that were obvious to the world and the ones that they held deep inside. This story was a true happily ever after but only after heart break and pain.

I had to stop reading this from time to time because I would get so emotional and start crying. I literally was pulled, again no pun intended, into this book and felt like I was there. It brought up feelings and memories from my past that were painful that I thought were long buried. I strongly believe in soul mates and fate playing a role when we find our one true love, the one person who completes not just our hearts but our souls as well. I also believe that there is a connection like Melanie and Daniel had, when you find your other half, and when you find that connection, there are not words to describe the feelings you have. This is how a great love story is written, life is not all hearts and flowers, but it is also tragedy and hurt but it is also healing and forgiveness. I will defiantly be putting this book on my reread list and will be recommending this to my friends to read.

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD:

This book was incredibly written. The characters were well
developed and each character had such depth.

Saying that, this book was one big total predictable cliche'.
I didn't like the fact that 9 yrs separated them for a mis-
understanding. I don't like the fact that for the most part
both of them stayed away (even though they both believed that
they were soul mates and meant to be together forever)from
each other. I don't like the fact that IMMEDIATELY after this
misunderstanding Melanie marries a total douche, and stays
married to him for 9 YEARS. I didn't like the fact that Daniel
could never in his entire 9 years from being without Melanie
live with out or quit thinking about her EXCEPT FOR WHEN HE
decides to have an unprotected one night stand and gets said
one night stand pregnant (it just so happens that his OTP,
Melanies nightmare is she lost their baby and can no longer
conceive kids)How convenient.
I didn't like how the one night stand conveniently leaves her
kid with Daniel because she can't handle being a mom so
Melanie gets to finally be a mom WITH HER OTP's KID FROM ANOTHER
WOMAN. I mean seriously when you read this book you start
to wonder how much Melanie the doormat will continue to take.

The premise was so awesome but the execution was horrible.
It was unbelievable and so predictable that I wanted so many
times to DNF but I could not seem to get off this trainwreck
of a book.

Also, I got this book and the cover says A.L. Jackson, so I
assumed it was her book. When looking this book up I had a
really hard time finding it because it is under Amy Lichtenhan.
I am assuming it was a collaboration or that is a pen name.
Doesn't matter. It just adds to the "messed up" state of this
book.

It always makes me sad to read a book with so much potential
become a predictable, unbelievable mess.

I can handle a lot of angst and tropes, but one I can't in my romance books is the MMC having a child with another woman while being in love with the MFC, and of course the MFC is infertile. And they are given this OWs child like its some type of gift. I fucking hate it. So on that alone, I give this book one star and it doesn't get one more star because honesty, it's just not that compelling or well written. I wanted Melanie to tell Daniel to fuck off - and go screw her way through Europe. She can't get pregnant so why not screw whoever the hell she wants . Oh wait - that's just for this author's male characters to do. I hate doormat heroines which Melanie is to a tee. I really didn't like this book.

It was a good read with a good story but if I'm being honest a bit slow getting there I feel if the book was moving a bit faster and cut down on the pages I would have given it five stars still a good read anyway.

Una estrella es mucho, de verdad es un libro muy malo, la narración mala, situaciones inverosímiles, esto no es cliché es la ridiculez personificada, es que ni los protagonistas salvan algo 🙄🙄🙄

I was offered by the Author Amy Lichtenhan a copy of her book in exchange for a review, and just by looking at the beautiful cover I wasn't really sure what to expect. To me I just thought it was going to be another romance novel like so many others I have read and enjoy to read, there is nothing better than a juicy romance. Well I am here to tell you now, this is absolutely NOT your average romance book. I haven't been on an emotional roller coaster like that in such a long time.

Melanie and Daniel met as teenagers and fell in love at first site, the kind of deep love where you can sense when the other is hurting even if your not in the room with them, they were inseparable as most soulmate's are. After a tragic car accident one night, Melanie and Daniel's lives took a turn neither one of them had ever thought would happen. When trying to put their lives back together after this horrible accident, and many whisper's in Melanie's ear, she thought it would be best for all if she moved back with her mother.

After many misunderstandings Melanie left and moved to Chicago to start over and try to forget the past events that led up to her leaving and put her life back together the best she could. The fate of Daniel and Melanie was destined not to be over and the book takes us through the journey as they find their way back together being "Pulled" by Destiny.

This is one amazing book, as soon as I started to read it, I was sucked in so fast I didn't even realize it until I was half way through it. I could not put it down at all. The emotional ride Amy takes us on is to say the least incredible. It can be a hard book to read at times especially if you have gone through some if not all of the things as the main character Melanie has gone through. I have not gone through all of it, but, I could relate with some of it. Melanie had gone through a lot of mental and verbal abuse and then later on physical abuse at the hands of her husband. The book was beautifully written, it made me cry, laugh, cheer on Melanie and Daniel when things were heating up, oh yes and the steamy love scenes *sigh* Now if I go on and tell you much more, I will have given you spoilers, I can't do that to you so I won't say anymore. :)

This is a MUST READ novel for anyone wanting to read a true love story of two people trying to overcome and beat all odds. I believe in the power of love and how if your love is true and strong enough you can make it through even the toughest of times. I also believe every thing happens for a reason, even though you don't know why at the time, all will be revealed in the end. I loved this book, it will make you cry tears of sadness and tears of happiness, it will make you go "no way, she did not just do that" it is as the title of the book says you will be "Pulled" in and will not be able to put this book down until the end. I hope you will all enjoy this book as much as I did, and I cannot wait to read what Amy has in store for us next!!!!

What an amazing novel! I have been finding some great romance books lately, and this is indeed one of them. I was completely drawn into the story between Daniel and Melanie. This story has all the elements that make a love story great. Suspense, fear, anger, hopelessness, and ultimate joy.

Portions of this story resonated with my own life story. I fully understand how it feels to be married to a control freak--I was for nearly 10 years. And the author hit the nail on the head in her description of Melanie's facetious marriage. I recalled the pain, hopelessness, and feelings of entrapment. But unlike Melanie, I did not continue. I rejoiced when Melanie finally faced her fears. I know how hard it was me to stop believing the lies I heard day in and day out. And Melanie's self-worth was tied to Daniel. Feeling of not being wanted can be paralyzing.

The suspense in the story truly kept me on the edge of my seat through most of the book. I enjoyed the flashback techn.ique, and the author was a master at using this technique to further the story and heighten the emotional level. I also appreciated how the author told the story from two different perspectives. Rarely have I seen this technique handled in a book so masterfully.

So why the four star rating? First of all, while the profanity did not ruin the story for me, I could have done without it. I was grateful that the bedroom scenes were not overly graphic. But I was surprised at how it appeared that there was nothing wrong with the teenagers having sex outside of marriage, having other partners ater, and then having an affair when they found each other again. I loved the romance and love between them, but I would have liked to have seen some discretion and waiting involved in the situation which might show that they had learned something from the mistakes they made as teens. Morals would have been nice to have introduced and emphasized.

One other issue I had was that of realism. It would seem that the author wanted to write at least a somewhat realistic story with some ramance to it. I believe the author suceeded until about two thirds into it. I said to myself, "I hope this is not going to turn out to be a sappy story." Well, it kind of is--not as bad as I feared but still somewhat sappy. Some bad stuff did happen, but too much seemed to work out too well. Thus, the story became quite predictable.

However, I would definitely recommend this book to romance readers of most walks of life. The writing style is exquisite, and the story will capture your heart.

This book was provided to me in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated in any way, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

I'm marking this book to "avoid" because of comments made on this thread.
http://www.amazon.com/forum/romance/r...

Particularly this comment from a member:

SPOILERS

H and h lose baby, apart for a number of years, find each other again at the exact same moment when the H realizes he got a random hook-up pregnant. YUCK. So he's trying to win back the h (who is still devastated at losing her child) while at the same time awaiting the arrival of his son by another (unwanted) woman. h and OW end up in the hospital at the same time: h is injured and OW is giving birth. H is "pulled" in different directions.

DANIEL AND MELANIE

"When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears. When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears and I held your hand through all of these years. But you still have all of me."(My Immortal, by Evanescence)

The words above describe perfectly the story of Daniel and Melaine. The love they had for each other was so pure and wonderful. This book was beautifully written and with such passion. You will go thru so many emotions reading this book: joy, heartbreaking sorrow, anger/hate, hope, and pure happiness.

A.L. Jackson knows how to draw you in and make you have so many different emotions all at once while.

Thank You for writing such a touching beautiful story.

This was a nice read and I did enjoy it.

It was really sweet and the relationship between Melanie and Daniel is really special with the soul mate aspect being dealt with beautifully.

I certainly cried in this book and it did pull at my heartstrings.

What can I say about the novel Pulled by A.L. Jackson. It was hands down one of the best books of the year I have read. I cried, I laughed. I fell in love with the characters and their relationships with one another. Every page I could feel the soul mate connection between the two; touched my heart. This has to be one of the strongest relationship I have ever read with two characters. I felt the love between Daniel and Melanie, it was so heart filled. I felt the pain for them both, especially Melanie. I can not even imagine what she was going through, especially when Daniel was having another women's baby. I cried the most during those scenes of the book. I could not put this book down!!! I read it all day at work, when my work day ended I only had 20 pages left and I actually stayed in my car reading the end of the book because I couldn't bare driving 30 minutes not knowing how it ends... that is how good the book is!!

Pulled is about Melanie (15) who moves to Colorado and meets Daniel (16). The two instantly fall in love and have a soul mate connection. Their relationship is perfect and at 17 Melanie finds out she is pregnant. The couple want to get married and have their baby but unfortunately they were involved in a car accident which lead Melanie in the hospital and their baby dying after being born too early and Melanie never being able to have another child. The couple is forced apart due to Melanie's parents and never see each other again....

Now 9 years later, Daniel still is madly in love with Melanie and sleeps his way around without having a real relationship with any women. Melanie is married to a man she only married to get away from Texas and start fresh. She still is in love with Daniel. She is just a trophy wife to this man who is abusive to her behind closed doors. As the trophy wife she is forced to go to a work dinner where she sees Daniel for the first time. The two almost kiss at the bathroom and after weeks of driving by each others homes and work the two finally get together in a magical, romantic in counter.

They begin to sneak around since Melanie is still married and plan her get away from her husband. At the same time, a one night stand from Daniel's pass comes back in his life revealing she is 5 months pregnant with his child. As a sore subject for Melanie their relationship must over come many battles to see if the two soul mates can finally be together, without ANYONE getting in their way.

REVIEW:

I LOVED the scenes from the past, being able to fall in love with them as they fall in love with each other when they were 15 & 16. Seeing their relationship blossom into even having an accidental pregnancy and loss of their baby. Then their break up and growing up into adults separately. It was so touching and moving.... I just cried!!

I guess a thing that bugged me, that was not THAT big of a deal was that Melanie's parents were so hung up on taking her away from Daniel because she was young (17 years old), just lost her baby at 20 weeks, and was dating Daniel who was 18. She made her return to Texas with her and live at her mom's but then just months later Melanie is now 18 and meets a guy 20 years older then her and marries him and her mom doesn't say a word and Melanie even thinks her mom likes this guy. Why would a mom not be okay with Daniel but okay with this creep? I know her mother explains it in the book but I HATED it. Maybe because I was so pro Melanie and Daniel.

Pulled I was not when I was reading this book. This book is about a couple Melanie and Daniel who went through a tragedy that had them split for 9 years. After nine years, Melanie is trapped in a loveless marriage while Daniel losses himself in his career.

I was so excited to read this book. I love these stories where old loves reunite. I always "sigh" when I read those books. However, with Pulled, I did not sigh. There was too much miscommunication for these 28 year olds. Come on, I understand when miscommunication about love happens in a YA book with teenagers, but with adults!? I can even handle when a little miscommunication happens for a week or a month. Hey, I'll even give them a year. BUT 9 YEARS!!! And you are suppose to be "in love!?"

I felt no connection to the characters and it does NOT take much for me to feel connected to characters. I am pretty easy. However, I think the constant flashbacks lost me. I love flashbacks, but these flashbacks just did nothing for me. I just wanted to get through them. I can't put my finger on it as to why, they did nothing for me.

Maybe, and this is a big maybe, I would have preferred if the author started the story with Melanie and Daniel when they first met (at 16) and skipped the flashbacks. To tell you the truth I am not sure if that would have made a difference or not. I just don't know what it is about this book that did NOTHING for me. Maybe the flashbacks started before I became invested in the characters.

Someone in one the posts said to skip Pulled and just read Take This Regret. Maybe I will read that later after I get the bad taste of this book out of my mouth.

Would I recommend this book ? NO. I know when I love or even like a book #1 - I don't want it to end and #2 - I am still thinking about it days after. I want to forget I ever picked this one up.

I saw the reviews before I read this book, I know my feelings about this book are in the minority. This is what makes Goodreads such a great website. We are able to express our feelings about all books.

Oh man! As much as I wanted to rate this lower I just cant. The more I thought about this book and what happened the more I loved it. Some decisions made by Melanie really made me question if I really liked this book. I finally had to step back and some advice from a friend I soon realized that she was a victim.
Melanie meets a boy who becomes her everything. No one really understands the extent of his power over her but Melanie and Daniel cant deny what they have.
Unforeseen circumstances breaks them apart and the journey the two have without each is so destructive and so harsh. Melanie being with a man who has doesnt care about her. He just wanted to rule her under his thumb and she allowed it. Because she doesnt feel anything anymore after she lost everything thats meant anything to her.

And Daniel moving from woman to woman to fulfill what none of them could ever fill. That one and only is no longer available to him. He lost everything that one fateful day. He was just taking Melanie back home. It was too late. Everything that was anything to him was gone.

An unlikely reunion throws them both back to the day they met. Those emotions and love they felt for each other are still there and now stronger with every glance they have towards each other.
Was it fate?

I'm still not sure how I feel about them being together when they had other responsibilities. Yes they are soul mates but thats not an excuse or makes it okay for them to go that route. Daniel was there for Melanie. He was is her rock and I think she should have taken that and made the right decision.
In the end the tragedy and sorrows that were thrown at them were put to right and they both got their deserved happily ever after.

Pulled by Amy Lichtenhan is a memorable story about fate and soul mates. This adult novel is about overcoming obstacles and landing where you are meant to be.

Daniel and Melanie have a precious and meaningful story. Their history is special; their separation is tragic, and their future is hopeful. Daniel and Melanie’s connection can be seen on every page. What they have together is extraordinarily rare and wonderful. I believe in their magical connection to one another.

There were times that I wanted to just shake Melanie. I didn’t always agree with her reasoning or her decisions. In fact, there were times when she out right bothered me. I know she had good intentions, but it was obvious that some of her choices were going to backfire. I could see it before it happened, and I just wanted to scream at her to stop!

Regardless, I loved Melanie and Daniel. They are the perfect example of soul mates and true love. I was rooting for them every step of the way. I think everyone should read their beautiful story. It’s touching, heartbreaking and inspiring. Their story reminded me to have faith and never give up hope.

I gave Pulled by Amy Lichtenhan 4 STARS. This is a beautiful romance and I strongly recommend this story to adults.
