Being kidnapped by bikers is a harrowing experience, but for some reason, Laurie doesn’t feel as terrified as she should. The leader’s steely eyes soften when he looks at her, and the others in his gang clearly know she’s hands off. But does that include Steele's hands? Her brain resists him, but her body insists she wants those big hands all over her.
Steele doesn’t know how he wound up in this mess–with a kidnapped woman on his hands and the police hot on their trail. Now he and Laurie are in hiding at an isolated cabin, and Steele has to figure out how to extricate himself...and steer clear of his accidental captive whose tight, slinky clubbing attire is making him think all kinds of dangerous thoughts…
Hands down, this is probably going to be my favourite installment if this series, much more focus on story and less on how many men one woman can take on sitting/standing/laying/bending-over... you get my point!
Laurie has finally got the chance to clear her name, and move on with her life. Sadly all does not go to plan, and she literally finds herself caged, and not in a good way.
Luckily Steele has gotten over his earlier tantrum, and after a couple of calls realises she has been taken by Donovan. Along with the rest of the gang he manages to get her to safety before the situation gets completely out of hand.
"Are you alright baby?" "Now that you're here."
Onto the final installment.

another fun, engrossing read from Opal.
Would much rather have the single edition than the 6 mini installments, but I read them all back to back anyway so kinda the same thing. after finishing work at midnight determined to get a decent sleep for a relatively early morning, I ended up reading til 3am just to finish them!!
it's hot, sexy, emotional, heroes & villains... everything you love about Opal Carew books!!
Riding Steele: Crossroads is the 5th part of the Riding Steele book and boy is it a doozy. Expect dark and disturbing in this short installment.
Steele has run off because of jealousy leaving Laurie in the hands of his guys. The police have contacted them saying if Laurie just brings the necklace and drops it off at the police station all charges will be dropped. With no way to get ahold of Steele it's left in the hands of Rip to make the decision.
He takes Laurie to the police station in what amounts to a set-up that anyone could see coming from a mile away. Laurie is back in the hands of a very pissed off Donovan hell-bent on making her pay for all that she's done to him. I have to say his creativity and depravity knows no bounds.
Meanwhile, Steele has checked back in and sets out to save his woman. After finding her it's clear that there are more than just physical scars that need to heal.
Note:Riding Steele is a serialized novel in the Ready to Ride series that is being released in 6 installments, and will also be published in one volume. I am reviewing this serial as one complete piece of work.
Why I Read this Book: First, I have a confession to make: I am not a fan of serials. It feels like a marketing ploy to get more money for what is essentially ONE book and I do not have the patience to wait for the next ‘installment’, especially when being left with cliffhangers. With Riding Steele being the 3rd book in a series, I don’t understand why the decision was made to chop this book up into 6 parts. However, I couldn’t resist reading Riding Steele because it’s an MC Romance and I’m a sucker for those.
What I Liked: I had only requested the first installment, as this is a new-to-me author and I wasn’t sure what to expect being that this is part of a serial, but the writing captured my attention enough for me to quickly request the rest of the installments. Riding Steele has an interesting premise, and I was curious to find out why the bikers would kidnap Laurie, and what would happen with her once they had her in their hold.
There was some interesting backstory with Steele and with Laurie. There’s a sad and unfortunate event that took place in Steele’s life. Laurie is trying to break things off with her overbearing boyfriend. These elements shaped who these characters are.
I really liked and appreciated how each installment started off with the last scene that took place in the preceding installment. While I pretty much read these installments back-to-back, readers who choose to read this serial in installments as they come out will surely appreciate this.
What I Didn’t Like: There was no real hierarchy in the ‘club’ so it didn’t really feel like an actual MC to me. Steele is referred to as the “leader”, not president, and none of the other members had a role in the club. It was just a group of guys, and a woman, who hang out and ride together. Not exactly the type of foundation I look for in a MC romance but I’ll take it. And the way the guys funded their simplistic lifestyle was a bit farfetched. None of the guys had a job, that I recall.
Let’s talk about the sex. I like smut but this was a bit too much for me. Not necessary a bad thing, just not my thing as I prefer one-on-one relationships while Steele doesn’t mind sharing his woman. I hadn’t read either of the other two books in this series, and the blurb didn’t give any hint of how erotic this story is, so I had no idea until about 1/3 of the way into the 2nd installment.
Also, giving someone not one, but two safe words doesn’t sound like a good idea to me. Laurie is not experienced in BDSM, so for Steele to give her two safe words with two different meanings to remember didn’t make sense to me.
And for all the boinking going on, nobody used a condom nor did anyone talk about birth control of any sort. After seeing an orgy take place before her very eyes, I’d have thought Laurie would have insisted on protection. She doesn’t know any of these people, and they’re casually swapping and sharing sexual partners.
Lastly, Laurie and Steele’s relationship was an insta-love, which is not my favorite.
Overall Impression:Riding Steele was a good read though it was a little too bow-chicka-wow-wow for my liking, which I was totally unprepared for as there was NO indication to the level of erotica mentioned in the blurb. But for those who enjoy extremely erotic romance (we’re talking orgies, sharing partners, BDSM elements, and M/M action) and enjoy MC romance, I’d say this is the book for you.
Let’s talk price: If you’re a fan of serials and love the anticipation that comes with them, and don’t mind paying more to be able to read each installment as soon as it comes out ($1.99 for about 35-40 pages, which comes to about $12 for all 6 installments), then I would say to get them as they come out. There were minor cliffhangers at the end of each installment but nothing too extreme that I couldn’t wait a week for the next installment. But if you’re like me and would rather read Riding Steele in its entirety all at once, then wait until the complete novel releases in March 2015 and get it at the discount price of $3.99. [Note: Prices noted were taken from Amazon when this review originally posted on 11/4/2014.]

3 Crossroads Stars
Riding Steele: Crossroads again starts immediately where the story faded to black in book four. The author here combined the angst, love, passion, and depth of darkness she included in book one. Laurie forces herself to submit to the knowledge that Steele and company mean well to her, they care for her in a way no other people ever have. Steele copes with feelings of possessiveness he’s never felt. Each of them come to grips with their feelings when Laurie finds herself thrust back into the exact situation she ran from in the first place. In this aspect the plot delves a little darker which was a nice segue for the plot. Everything happens so fast in these novellas it takes a minute to process the speed in which they go but there’s never a time when the writing feels stale. The author again write in dual points of view and leaves us hanging at the end. I do look forward to seeing how she ties all these novellas into a solid ending with book six. If you dig erotica, a little darker plot, angst, and cliffhangers – Riding Steele: Crossroads will work for you.
I would like to thank the Publishers and Netgalley for letting me read this wonderful series of installments.
This is making me frustrated. The slimball Donovan is horrid, wicked and downright arrogant. Steele is the complete opposite, loving, caring, willing to share ;) and with the biker group behind him always protective. Laurie gets to hand back the Diamond necklace without any police bother, but what happens next will make you feel sick. 2 other slimeballs kidnap her and take her to the NUMBER 1 slimeball. What is that slimeball Donovan really up to? BDSM at it's finest with some hatred for a certain character.
Read this installment to find out what a complete slimball Donovan is and then rush to read the next to hear if the police are hot on their tail - that's what I am off to do.
Laurie made a deal with the devil Donovan and he has no intention of letting her go. Of course the drop arranged for the return of the “stolen” necklace is a set up for Laurie to be kidnapped (yet again). She gets to play Donovan’s torture victim for a few hours but the crew saves the day. The one good thing that came from Laurie’s kidnapping seems to be that she knows what she wants now. (Of course that is Steele).
The whopping surprise death at the end truly did shock me. But, there would be no peace without his death so good call Ms Carew.
RIDING STEELE BY OPAL CAREW 6 INSTALMENTS OR 1 BOOK? HOW CAN PUBLISHERS CHARGE $1.99 FOR 30 PAGES? HOW CAN THOSE 6 INSTALMENTS, IF PURCHASED SEPARATELY, BE $12 YET IF YOU PURCHASE THE BOOK IN ITS ENTIRETY, THE PRICE IS LESS THAN $9? I HAVE NO PROBLEM PAYING A HIGHER PRICE FOR A QUALITY BOOK, J R WARD AND SHELLY LAURENSTON FOR EXAMPLE ARE AUTOMATIC ONE CLICKS FOR ME BUT THE LENGTH AND QUALITY I WILL BE GETTING FOR MY DOLLARS MEANS I AM HAPPY TO DO SO. I’VE SAID BEFORE THAT I DISLIKE THIS GROWING TREND FOR SPLITTING BOOKS INTO INSTALMENTS, PERSONALLY I FEEL IT’S JUST A CON TO GET READERS TO PAY EXTRA TO GET THE BOOK EARLIER RATHER THAN WAIT FOR THE PRODUCT IN FULL, CHEAPER BUT LATER AND 30 PAGES IS, IN MY OPINION, NEITHER HERE NOR THERE - A SLIGHT TASTE BUT NOT ENOUGH TO BECOME INVESTED IN THE STORY OR THE CHARACTERS. AT THE END OF THE FIRST INSTALMENT I WAS JUST FRUSTRATED AS IT FELT LIKE A COUPLE OF CHAPTERS ONLY AND THEN BOOM, THE END. I NEVER PURCHASE BOOKS SOLD LIKE THIS AND HAD THESE NOT BEEN ARCS I WOULD NOT HAVE READ, AS A FULL EBOOK $9 FOR UNDER 200 PAGES IS RIDICULOUS BUT THAT’S JUST ME…… THE REASON I CHOSE TO REVIEW THE ARCS WAS BECAUSE I HAVE READ OPAL CAREW BEFORE AND ENJOYED HER BOOKS, SWING IS AN OLD FAVOURITE. AS A REVIEW IT’S DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF THE SIZE OF THE INSTALMENTS - AS AN OPAL CAREW IT’S NOT A BAD ONE, AS AN MC BOOK IT’S NOT A BAD ONE, AS AN EROTICA IT’S NOT A BAD ONE, BUT IT LACKS THAT SPECIAL SOMETHING, THE X-FACTOR IF YOU LIKE, THAT WOULD MAKE IT A FAVOURITE OR A REREAD.
In the arms of an outlaw, she found the freedom to live out her wildest fantasies. Don’t miss this scorching new six-part mini-series from New York Times bestselling author Opal Carew!
When Laurie is kidnapped by bikers, she has no idea her life is about to change forever. From the moment she meets Steele—their sinfully sexy leader—she can’t deny their fierce attraction. Even though she’s completely at his mercy, his eyes soften when he looks at her, and the others in his gang know she’s strictly hands off. But the more time she spends with Steele, the more her body insists she wants his powerful hands all over her.
Now she’s about to discover a new life on the open road…and what it means to be part of a gang that shares everything. At first their wonton lifestyle shocks her senses—but once she’s had a taste of life on the edge, will she ever want to leave?
Riding Steele #1: Kidnapped Being kidnapped by bikers is a harrowing experience, but for some reason, Laurie doesn’t feel as terrified as she should.
Now he and Laurie are in hiding at an isolated cabin, and Steele has to figure out how to extricate himself . . . and steer clear of his accidental captive whose tight, slinky clubbing attire is making him think all kinds of dangerous thoughts…
IN THIS FIRST INSTALMENT WE MEET STEELE AND THE REST OF HIS CREW HAVING DRINKS AT A BAR ON HIS BIRTHDAY WHILE KEEPING AN EYE ON LAURIE AS A FAVOUR FOR AN OLD FRIEND. LAURIE IS OUT WITH HER BOYFRIEND DONOVAN WHO SHE IS INTENDING TO BREAK UP WITH. HIS DOMINEERING, CONTROLLING WAYS AREN’T SITTING WELL WITH HER AND THE RECENT ESCALATION IN ROUGH PLAY MEANS ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. STEELE VETOES KIDNAPPING HER TO KEEP HER SAFE AND LEAVES THE BAR WITH JUST ONE MEMBER LEFT BEHIND TO WATCH HER. UNFORTUNATELY CIRCUMSTANCES DICTATE THAT LAURIE DOES IN FACT END UP KIDNAPPED AND IN A HOUSE FULL OF BIKERS. AS A START THIS IS REALLY JUST A SETTING THE SCENE. WE SEE INTERACTION BETWEEN STEELE AND THE MEMBERS, LAURIE COMES ACROSS AS QUITE WEAK IN THIS ONE AND LITTLE TO NO SEXUAL CONTENT.
Riding Steele #2: Untamed THE STORY CONTINUES WITH LAURIE ATTEMPTING AN ESCAPE THAT RESULTS IN A NICE LITTLE VOYEURISM SCENE AS WELL AS A THREESOME. OPAL CAREW DOES GOOD SEX! A MISTAKEN IDENTITY ISSUE RAMPS UP THE TENSION BETWEEN STEELE AND LAURIE AND SO ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE FOLLOWS.
Riding Steele #3: Collide THIS WAS A DISAPPOINTING ONE. STEELE AND LAURIE FINALLY GET IT TOGETHER BUT I WAS SO ANNOYED BY HER WEAK AND INCONSISTANT BEHAVIOUR THAT I JUST DIDN’T CARE BY THAT POINT. LAURIE FINALLY DID ESCAPE ONLY FOR A TWIST TO END UP WITH HER BEING RETURNED TO STEELE. LOTS OF BACKGROUND INFO AND SETTING THE SCENE AGAIN BUT THAT JUST MEANT IT FELT LIKE NOTHING OF INTEREST HAPPENED.
Riding Steele #4: Wanted THIS IS THE OPAL CAREW I EXPECTED FROM THE EROTICA ASPECT, MUTIPLE PARTNERS, MUTIPLE ORGASMS AND EVERYONE WATCHING EVERYBODY ELSE! HOWEVER, ONCE AGAIN THE CHARACTER INCONSISTENCIES SPOILT IT. LAURIE IS A WEAK WOMAN WHO RUNS AWAY AFRAID FOR HER SAFETY BUT THEN DROPS HER KNICKERS FOR STEELE….. OH, AND THEN THE REST OF THE BOYS ALL TOGETHER, WITH RAVEN WATCHING AS WELL?? TOO FAST A TIMELINE WITH TOO LITTLE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT TO BE BELIEVABLE - WHILE I ACCEPT THIS IS FICTION IT STILL HAS TO BE WITHIN THE REALMS OF BEHAVIOUR YOU WOULD ACCEPT AS POSSIBLE. I FOUND THE END DEVELOPMENTS TO BE ANNOYING AND STEELE’S ACTIONS CHILDISH.
Riding Steele #5: Crossroads THIS INSTALMENT IS A TAD PREDICTABLE, THE STORYLINE IS NOT GRAPHIC ENOUGH TO SHOCK OR SURPRISE AND WITHOUT ANY SEXUAL CONTENT TO REDEEM IT AS AN EROTICA IT ALMOST STRUGGLES TO HAVE A COHESIVE DIRECTION THAT MAKES SENSE.
A DISAPPOINTING OFFERING IN MY OPINION THAT DOESN’T QUITE DELIVER ON ANY LEVEL. A 3 STAR MAYBE BUT, IN VIEW OF THE PRICING, A 2.5 STAR AT BEST.
Okay, let me say first, I do not condone any form of sexual abuse in real life. But when reading smuts, I usually go beyond the borders of my mind's conventionality.
Laurie here was kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend Donovan. . BDSM + mental illness = Donovan.
This book portion and I do mean portion. As in either the author or the publisher not sure which has chosen to chop up a very good story line into so far 6 mini books. They are made up of 35 pages on the average and right now are costing $1.99 you do the math times 6. Well, anyway, this portion is very intense. Laurie has to take the necklace that Donovan gave her to the police because he says she stole it. When really he gave it to her for their anniversary. So, she takes it in alone so as not to make the town and all the local sheriffs leery of the members of the MC. Rip says, they couldn’t consult with Steele since he left that morning in a huff. As she was leaving the police station she was really kidnapped this time. Donovan’s goons took her to him and he started to torture her by sticking her in a cage spread eagle standing up naked changed by all 4 limbs. When the MC found her Steele beat the crap out of Donovan and had the guys tie him up the same way with the dog collar on too. Then, they started to leave with Donovan yelling she will bring you nothing but trouble. As they rode away she was falling asleep since she couldn’t in Donovan’s custody, so they all stopped at a motel so she could shower and sleep. Steele goes to pick up medical supplies for her and breakfast when the cook warns him that cops are looking for a group of MC riders. Steele was told by the cook that there was trouble at some rich guy’s country home. I have to say this had several pages I skimmed over due to the torturous ways Donovan treated Laurie. Not my cup of tea. I give this portion of the book 4 stars. Provided by Net Galley. Follow us at: www.1rad-readerreviews.com
Riding Steele: Crossroads by Opal Carew is the fifth part of her new six-part serial Riding Steele. Riding Steele will be released as a full length novel in early 2015 as book 3 in her Ready To Ride series.
Crossroads picks up right where Wanted left off... Donovan lured Laurie to a police department by claiming to drop the charges he filed against her for "stealing" the necklace he actually gave her as an anniversary gift. She meets with an officer that Killer has vouched for and gives hm the necklace. He confirms the charges are dropped and she leaves to walk the block or two to the diner where her ride is waiting on her. Of course this is the point in the tale where everything goes to hell in a hand-basket.
Donovan has arranged for Laurie to be snatched out from under the crews noses and they take her away to one of his vacation villas where he has some very nefarious plans in store for her. Donovan is sadistic and evil and no longer has any need to pretend to be anything other than his true self.
Will the crew be able to find her? If they do will it be in time? Before Donovan violates that which is no longer his?
His words and his gentle touch, made her want him with a desperation that dug deep into her soul. ~ Laurie
Well here it is the penultimate episode in this series and you just know that it's all about to kick off and yes it does in style! Laurie may have been embraced by Steele and his fellow bikers but she is just not that ready to embrace their life style ! She is torn between wanting Steele and yet also needing a more normal and dare I suggest safe life? Everything that can go wrong has and now not only has Steele gone AWOL but Laurie walks right into a trap. So much has happened since her sadistic ex boyfriend Donovan showed his true colours and now Laurie is in real danger with no hope for rescue. Donovan may think he holds all the cards but Laurie has wormed her way into the hearts of Steele and his friends and they have no intention of riding away! So yet again the author delivers a fast paced instalment that just grabs this readers attention and doesn't let go. Is Steele a tad juvenile in his actions ? Maybe and given the proclivities of both himself and his fellow bikers I really wanted to shake him but at least he does redeem himself. I thought that Steele should have realised that his feelings for Laurie were getting intense and dealt better with things but he's a man so perhaps that explains it! This is not a sexy read but it is a much darker one than the previous . Laurie is subjected to some pretty unpleasant attention and forced to internalise her thoughts. I would like to say there's a happy ending but unfortunately it's a cliffhanger and a very surprising one at that! Ok just one more episode to go and then we get to find out just how far Steele is really prepared to go for this woman .
I'm going to review the entire serial in this one review because each installment is so short it would be impossible to give any sort of impression about the individual volumes.
Overall I'm going to be giving the serial 3 stars ... there is a lot of potential here, but everything was so rushed and just when it felt like the author was going to start developing into more she pulled back and moved along. I enjoy reading a serial because they are fast paced and quick, but this one had way too much happening for each volume to be so short.
It's really a shame because i think had Ms Carew taken more time and expanded certain scenes this could have been an amazing MC series. I loved all of Steele and his crew ... Laurie was a typical damsel in distress fighting against the people who were trying to 'save' her, but I think had there been more development I could have really loved her character too.
There are a few smutty scenes throughout the different volumes.... they are short and dirty.
All in all I would happily read another book by this author, but I will likely either avoid serials OR wait until the full serial is released before reading.
**Please note this review will have spoilers for Riding Steele #1-4 (Kidnapped, Untamed, Collide and Wanted) **
Crossroads is the fifth novella in the Riding Steele serial. In this one we follow Laurie on an adventure to clear her name and see what Donovan is really capable of.
Now they have a plan locked in to get Laurie free of the theft charges, but will they get there in time before the deadline ends? Donovan isn’t making it very easy for Laurie to hand over the necklace, but then again I’m sure he still wants revenge for being humiliated by her and Wild Card.
With Steele still off in a huff, the crew moved on without him. When Steele gets to the new rendezvous point and time goes by without the others showing up, Steele starts to worries. Panicking now about Laurie’s safety, Steele breaks the speed limits to reach her, but will he be too late?
Is the necklace handover a trap for revenge? Will she survive? Can Steele get to Laurie in time?
Crossroads is certainly that for Laurie and Steele. Laurie is still undecided on what her future will hold and Steele only wants to keep Laurie for himself. Realising that she wants stability and security in life, Steele doesn’t know if Laurie will choose him.
Certainly another intense, dramatic instalment in the Riding Steele serial. Also fantastically written by Opal Carew and the next episode is the final one, Riding Steele #6: Aftershock.
Riding Steele: Crossroads (Riding Steel #5) by Opal Carew Review by: Kayla Synopsis: Being kidnapped by bikers is a harrowing experience, but for some reason, Laurie doesn’t feel as terrified as she should. The leader’s steely eyes soften when he looks at her, and the others in his gang clearly know she’s hands off. But does that include Steele's hands? Now he and Laurie are in hiding at an isolated cabin, and Steele has to figure out how to extricate himself...and steer clear of his accidental captive whose tight, slinky clubbing attire is making him think all kinds of dangerous thoughts… Review: I was given a copy of Riding Steele: Crossroads by Reading Bliss in exchange for an honest review. Crossroads starts off with Laurie being kidnapped again. But this time it is by her crazy ex. This book is full of action and angst. He holds her captive until Steele and his gang come to rescue her. Laurie gets to clear her name in this book. Steele had taken off from his crew and wanted to get some perspective. He finally figured it out though. This book was exciting and I liked it a lot. This book is left on a huge cliffhanger. I am on to Aftershock. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
In Crossroads Rip and the boys are taking Laurie to a police station in the middle of nowhere so that she can turn over the necklace to an officer that Killer trusts to act as a go between. Once this is done, Donovan has agreed to drop all the theft charge. What we didn’t know at the end of Wanted was that Steele had given the necklace to Shock to hold for safekeeping, so they were able to leave immediately despite Steele’s angry departure.
This particular episode in the serial was a tad too predictable for me. Despite suspecting that it may be a set-up, Rip leaves the others at a diner out of sight of the police station so as not to make the cops nervous. Upon their arrival at the station, Rip parks behind the station and sends Laurie in unaccompanied while he stays positioned where he can’t see a thing. And you’ll never guess what happens next!?! Yep, that was sarcasm. But despite the predictability of Laurie’s abduction and subsequent rescue, there was nothing predictable about Laurie’s actual confinement once she was delivered to Donovan. As for the cliffhanger at the end of Crossroads, NEVER saw it coming. It wasn’t at the bottom of the list of possibilities because it wasn’t even a thought in my mind. I am so relieved that I have the final episode in the serial, Aftershock, all queued up and ready to go.

THE MOST SUSPENSEFUL AND SATISFYING RIDING STEELE INSTALLMENT TO DATE!
CROSSROADS, Riding Steele #5, begins right at the point at which WANTED ended. Steele is still reeling over the intensity of his feelings for Laurie, and the challenge of having to come to terms with his unexpected desire to make a woman a permanent part of his nomadic life and his biker gang. Unable to control his feelings of possessiveness and jealousy, he deeply regrets attacking his closest friend, Wild Card. Steele's need to separate himself from the group in order to get his head straight leads to a situation in which Laurie becomes vulnerable to the sadistic plotting of Donovan, her ex, who has not wavered in his determination to own and punish Laurie severely.
This installment of RIDING STEELE is the most tense and suspenseful, as Laurie literally fights for her life as her new family of bikers try desperately to locate her. Donovan's depravity is truly felt by the reader as he and all of Ms. Carew's characters come fully to life in this episode. The climax of the story is intense and satisfying, but Steele and Laurie's story is not yet over...there are consequences that must still be faced.
CROSSROADS is the most suspenseful and rewarding episode of the serial thus far, due in no small part to the well-written action and deeper character development. The reader is drawn in as we all wait and wish for Steele and Laurie to find their HEA in the last episode to come.
Steele has finally got Laurie back from Donovan's clutches only to recieve a phone call from Killer saying that Donovan is dead and Steele and Laurie once again are the lead suspects in his murder. Donovan was wealthy and had connections everywhere , so if things don't go a certain way then they will never be able to leave the invisible clutches of Donovan. In this book , we see the aftermath of what happened to Laurie and we read as Steele pushes her away as he knows that his life as a biker and on the road isn't the one Laurie wants - she needs a life of security and stability, something that he can't give her. So of course, what does he do - he does what every man in this situation and who can't really express his true feelings does - he lies and tells her she meant nothing to him. Can Steele really make Laurie believe she is nothing and what will Laurie do, now that she is free of not only the Bikers but also of Donovan ? Has Laurie been given a second chance at a fresh start , but which path will she choose ? Find out in Book #5 in the Riding Steele Serial by Opal Carew. The perfect quick read for all those lover of Biker Books and MC's.
Well what can I say about the fifth installment in Riding Steele: Crossroads but it was gut-wrenching. I couldn’t believe what Laurie had to endure. When dealing with a psychopath, wanna be dom is not good because you never know what to expect. When this installment started I didn’t think that what happened in this story would happen. I know that eventually Donovan would come back and want retribution because she walked out on him but what he did was horrible. I felt bad because Steele didn’t want her hurt and when he saw her he couldn’t help but lose it. But then when the end came I was confused because I had no idea what in the world was happening.
This installment was one of those types of reads that makes me think about the what ifs. The what if she hadn’t met Steele or what if Steele hadn’t met her stepbrother. The what if they didn’t get to her in time and what if something worse happened. Ms. Carew did an exceptional job in writing this installment.

I'm a fan of Opal Carew's and I like the steam that she puts into a read. At the same time she writes a story that draws you in and creates characters that you fall for and want to see get their HEA! I am not a huge fan of the serialized approach to a story - I would rather read it all at one time - but I knew this going into this read so I will not count off for something that is a personal preference.
Laurie is scared and skittish from a relationship that started good and turned very very wrong... Steele is a tough tattooed motorcycle guy that came into her world via her protective and concerned brother... The resulting story is HOT and sweet and real in the sense that any smart woman would be leery to fall again, but man oh man who can resist Steele and the men who follow him?? Even though the characters were introduced in a previous story this read is a standalone and you will not be lost if you haven't read the first 2 books of the Ready to Ride series.
Donovan's revenge against Laurie continues. She has in her possession something Donovan wants returned so arrangements are made with the local police to ensure no one gets hurt. But, Laurie has been set up and Donovan's men are waiting her return.
Part five finds Steele separated from the gang as he considers his future with Laurie. But Laurie's future does not look good when Donovan continues his psychotic control.
Opal Carew continues to build on Laurie and Donovan’s story. An interesting take on an MC club leader and the woman with whom he is falling in love. The writing is simple and easy to read.
As for the serial format, each instalment is approximately 30 pages in length or ONE chapter in total.
Laurie had no idea that her boyfriend would turn out to be so overly domineering that she would need rescuing or kidnapping. Once she realizes that she had indeed been taken she was furious. That was until she was thrown into the same room as the bikers gangs leader named Steele. One look at him and she understood what her heart wanted from the beginning. Now could she forgive him for kidnapping her.
Opal Carew is a fantastic erotic writer. When reading her novelettes you become engrossed in the story line as well as the hot sex scenes. I am only giving this series 3 stars because some of those scenes were just too far out even for me. The story line was fantastic and it had great ebb and flow.
I received a copy of this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
There are 6 parts to this. Definitely meant to be read in order from first to last. That being said, I will be reviewing this as a whole because after one, you will want to keep going and they are pretty short.
Wow, I was not expecting that. This is a definite read for those who are into MC stories and also like erotic, multi-partner sex. Hope that doesn't give anything away but you should be warned, I was not expecting it at all but definitely didn't deter me from reading this set. Great series and will definitely read more from this author!!
Well, Laurie and Steele have had a rough time. I mean Donnavon had a plan and he is not know for being kind either. Laurie has an epiphany while she is caged up. She realizes that she does trust Steele and she knows he will come for her. Will he get to her in time? Steele is so sweet and kind and gentle with her. She needs that, but for how long can he give it to her without hurting her. You know she wants stability and she knows Steele can't give her that.
I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley for my in biased opinion. Thank You Net Galley!!
Riding Steele: Crossroads is the fifth episode in the Riding Steele motorcycle club/romance serial series. This episode is cohesive, well written and moves the plot along in an organized manner. It is free of insta love and abrupt ménage sex scenes.
Laurie is grabbed by her dangerous ex boyfriend and must be rescued by Steele's MC. She is questioning whether she would be happy sharing Steele's nomadic lifestyle.
This was my favorite episode of the serial (so far) and I look forward to reading the last episode in the serial.
Crossroads picks up right where Wanted has ended. Steele has taken off on his crew and left them to get some perspective on things, when the call comes in that Donovan is willing to make a deal with Laurie, regarding the necklace he gave her. Rip has no choice but to bring her in and end this nightmare for Laurie and all of them.
When the deal is done and Laurie is free to go, things turn ugly and it is a race to find her and save her from the monster she once had a life with. Can Steele and his crew get to her in time?
Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
Damn. I had really wanted the drama to end with this one and have book 6 just be an epilogue, but I guess not. I will say that the constant ending on a cliffhanger is getting old. Who grabbed her? Who killed Donovan? Honestly, I wish Carew let it play out a little more naturally because it seems forced. That being said, Donovan is an ass and deserves all that the guys did to him and more. I also wish that Steele and Wild Card and Laurie had had a chance to talk so that they could see what was going on, but they were racing the clock.
